Hello there.
Today i bought this monitor. I was excited till when come home and start connect the monitor. Display Port stop receive signal from computer after install fabric CD driver that comes inside the monitor pack. I have notice that CD is from the same model but with REV00 ... and i have installed, without previous knowledge, that DELL MONITOR DRIVER that comes inside that CD. After that... Monitor wont show image from display port cable. BLACK IMAGE. I have try everything. The only way to get image is from HDMI... but i buy this monitor special for it DP connection. I need help to get back. And solve this. I bought this for work, and i just spend 1 entire day to search for solution. i have a nvidia GTX780M (display port 1.2) and an INTEL HD 4600.

I solved the issue this morning. And I have a suggestion for future consumers with this Dell monitor model.
IMPORTANT:
* Do not install any thing (drivers) from its original factory CD
* If you did, please remove all drivers installed from that CD
* Once done, remove, unplug all cables (DP and HDMI) from the computer and the monitor
* Unplug the monitor AC power cable from electricity. This way the monitor will restart all previous configuration and make it lose all recognized connections between computer and monitor
* Reconnect all monitor cabling to the computer
* Restart the computer
* "et voilá" Display Port is back and all functions are OK

Printer drivers constantly becoming corrupt

We have a large mixture of HP and Ricoh printers in our environment. They are all linked through a Server 2007 Enterprise edition print server. For the HP printers, some of them do use the specific print driver and other use a universal print driver, also a mix between PCL 5 and 6. Most of the problems are occurring on Windows 7 (we don't have many windows XP and they use a different print server)and we are just starting to see some of these problems on Windows 8 (just starting to deploy). Here are the problems we are having:
1. Randomly the HP printer will stop working. Everything appears to be correct on the server and the PC and it works fine from another PC, but it doesn't appear to be communicating to the printer at all. You click Print in any application and it never actually does anything. If you just delete and re-add the printer you get problem #2. To actually fix it, you have to remove the printer, go into Print Management and delete all HP drivers (on one of the Windows 8 device just removing the one associated with the printer didn't work but removing them all fixed the issue) and telling it to redownload the print driver from the server.
2. The HP printer will randomly or on first install start printing "strange characters" and will keep printing until the job is canceled. Again we found that removing the printer and completely removing the drivers from Print Management and reinstalling the print will fix this.
These keep reoccurring with the same users and occationally new ones and we are starting to get bombarded with calls on our helpdesk. Let me know if there is something I can check to try to prevent these drivers from becoming corrupt on the PCs.

On each of the computers; do they all have different connections or the same connection? Please verify if it's wireless, USB or Ethernet connection?

Contact disappeared from iPhone but not deleted from Address Book on sync

FYI, I have an iPhone 3G running iOS 4.2 (the latest), and I have never so much as thought about MobileMe.
Until two days ago, I have had no reason to doubt that my iPhone's Contact list is the same as my MacBook's Address Book list. I now have no confidence that the same info. exists in both: I know for sure that at least one contact long present in both has disappeared from the iPhone, yet syncing all contacts neither returns it to the iPhone nor deletes it from Address Book! I need help troubleshooting this contact as well as verifying that there aren't other similar anomalies corrupting my data, hopefully without manually comparing all 685 entries...
Two days ago, a certain number, let's call it (310) 555-5555, popped up in my recents list as a missed call and in my visual voicemail. When I listened to the voicemail, I discovered that (310) 555-5555 was Jane Smith. I remembered entering Jane Smith several months ago, so I thought hmmm, does she have a second number? I tried to add (310) 555-5555 to an existing entry, only to find my iPhone had no entry for Jane Smith anymore at all! I did not delete her myself, and I'm not aware of any 3rd-party app that ought to have affected the entry. I haven't called Jane Smith or (310) 555-5555 in quite some time, so I have no idea how long the entry may have been missing. I searched the whole phone (left of the first home screen)
At the next opportunity, I looked in Address Book on my laptop, and indeed found the expected entry for Jane Smith, (310) 555-5555. I have no idea how she disappeared from my iPhone -- did I or some third-party program delete her? Or did it happen through some sync issue? -- but I naturally worried that when I next synced, the deletion would sync, too, and I would lose the Address Book entry, leaving me without Jane Smith's number at all.
Such an event would defeat the entire purpose of backing up my phone contacts to my computer; I just moved to iPhone this spring after being a Palm user since 1997, and the idea that iPhone might not be reliably syncing my contacts is frankly terrifying. I checked and saw that my Address Book listed 685 contacts to iPhone Contacts's 684, so I decided to risk a sync in hopes that maybe I had caused a one-off deletion. I wrote down Jane Smith (310) 555-5555 just in case and hit sync.
The results of the sync and my subsequent troubleshooting have seriously undermined my confidence in the fidelity of the sync process. The first time, nothing changed--I still had 684 iPhone, no Jane Smith, and 685 Address Book, including Jane Smith.

Before conecting your phone, open iTunes on your computer and go to Preferences, on the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically". Now connect your phone and when it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar click on its name. Go to the Info tab and confirm than your have checked Sync Contacts with Address Book. Now further down on the Info tab under Advanced>Replace information on this iPhone check Contacts. Click Apply and sync your phone. This will replace the contacts on your phone with the contacts in Address Book. (When complete you can go back to iTunes preferences and uncheck "Prevent..." to re-establish automatic syncing if your prefer this.)

No, I never really found an easy solution. I believe it is an issue with some corruption in the iTunes database on the specific device. In my case, both my iPad and iPhone now show duplicate stream songs if viewed through iTunes on my Mac, but they show different songs. A couple years ago I had a similar issue on my iPhone, and Apple support suggested I back up the phone, completely reset it, and then restore it from the backup. It did work, so I imagine it would probably work for my current issues with the iPhone and iPad. But resetting and restoring an iPad or iPhone always makes me a little nervous that something will get lost. When I did reset/restore the iPhone, I do have to say, the restore process was 100% perfect and I did not lose any data at all even though Apple support said I might. If you try to go that route, I would suggest backing the device up both to a computer through iTunes, and to the iCloud so that you have a double backup.
None of this really resolves the issue with how the iTunes databases are becoming corrupted on the apple devices though, so it is very likely to happen again until they fix it. I have been unable to determine if there were any specific actions or conditions which caused the corruption to happen in the first place.
Might be worth another call to Apple support, or dropping in the local Apple store if you have one near by.

Cannot download drivers from Toshiba websites - download iterrupts

Hi all,
been using tosh and it's support site for years now.
Just recently when i'm downloading drivers from support pages every other one comes down corrupted.
Small ones seem fine but larger ones, anything over 40meg pulls down very quickly and windows reports as corrupted.
This isn't just one machine, XP, WIn7, WIn8, Server 2008, all do this, also at different sites.
We do connect to the web using a corporate proxy.
I have no problems downloading anything from homepage 200-300MB at a time or any other sites.
This is just Toshiba.
I have tried the Europe site and the Australia sites, all do the same.
Unless anyone can offer a reason or solution here then i'm gonna go poke our server team in the eye and blame them.
Is it just me?

Still getting 40k download speeds from any toshiba site, our server team have replicated the problem too.
They have even bumped my web traffik past the corporate firewall and it's still happening.
Can download anything from M$ at 1.1meg per sec.
Still bombing out after 1 or 2 mins and getting corrupted zip downloads.
I'll keep trying.

Windows 7 crashing from memory corruption

For a while now my computer has been crashing at random times. I know it is from memory corruption but I don't know how to fix this I have logs for a little while ago but the newer ones can not be opened because of this.

Last night i was using my external hard drive, for some reason the folder just closed and i couldn't find it on my desktop.
After googling solutions, i found it in the disk utilities, i clicked on the 'repair' button many times, but it said the 'error...' message.
So i ejected it to try again, now when i connect the USB external hard drive it doesn't show up on my desktop or disk utilities.
I really just want to either repair or recover the data on it because it literally has everything (documents, work files, photos etc) on it,
I downloaded an application to recover my files but it needs the USB to at least show up.recognise it which mine doesn't.
I know i should've backed it up on another USB, this definitely teaches me for next time to back up all my files.
Are the files lost forever or can i recover them by going to a shop or using a software?

Should I upgrade my NVIDIA drivers from version 301.42 to 314.07 on my Mid-2010 MacBook Pro (6,2)?

I was wondering if it would be wise for me to upgrade my MacBook Pro nvidia drivers from version 301.42 to the current version 314.07? Reason, I am asking this is because my MacBook Pro has the nvidia GeForce GT 330m processor with 256mb of video memory and I haven't updated my Windows 7 64bit Home Premium display drivers for about 7 months. At the time I installed the 301.42 driver it was the latest WHQL release, and back then I did the upgrade after installing the Bootcamp 4.0 drivers (from the Bootcamp Assistant which had the 26X.XX driver version), Windows 7 SP1, and all Windows Updates. I used a clean install on those drivers. So far, I haven't had any problems with the 301.42 driver which makes me sometimes double think whether I should upgrade the drivers or not to the 314.07 version. As a result this is why I go to these forums and ask what could be the best course of action in my case?

Yes you should by all means update to the latest Nvidia drivers on the windows side of things. I presume you are using bootcamp (since thats really the only place this is relevant).

Not using any mouse pad, I have a very smooth desktop. But I just tried to use a sheet of A4 printing paper, but no result, the problem persisted.
Someone on this forum suggested, that USB3 may interfere with the magic mouse.
I have 2 LaCie HDD's about 70 cm away from the mouse, I use them on Thunderbolt. But in operation or not - the result is the same, the mouse plays up! Just now I was clicking the desktop and the mouse created a new folder!!

I've just bought an iPhone 5S in the UK, seems like a big mistake, but luckily by law we can return goods, which is exactly what is going to happen if I cant get this to work. This is my business phone, not having it functional can cost me money.

I'm happy you figured it out and just try to keep in mind that not everyone you talk to at support will give the same advice or have the same knowledge. Just like those who contribute to these forums. Sometimes Google is your best friend.
I agree that Apple could probably make it easier, but as of yet prefer security over freedom. (sound famaliar?)

Are you pressing the Sync button to transfer music after connecting your iPhone or do you have the option checked to 'Automatically Sync when the iPhone is connected?'

How can I transfer sms data from a corrupted backup to my phone?

Hello chaps,
I have an empty iphone, and two backups, from this morning and four months ago.
Restoring the backup from this morning gives the error 'corrupted or incompatible'. I have tried various solutions from forums, none of them work.
So instead I have restored sucesfully from the four month old backup. The ONLY thing I want from the new backup are my sms's.
How do I get these onto my phone?
I have already tried copying the sms file (3d0d7e5fb2ce288813306e4d4636395e047a3d28) from the NEW backup to the OLD backup and tried to restore that, however if I do this it throws the corrupted message.
I have read this file using sql readers, it has all my texts in wonderful glory, I just WANT THEM ON MY PHONE!

For a start- Im very suspicious of the corrupted mesage in the first place, I have had previous experiences of this message where restarting etc has resolved the issue, implying that there isnt really anything courrupted, its some bug with itunes or the iphone.
Secondly, even if it is genuinely corrupted, it would seem unlikely that every single file within the backup is corrupted. I only want to retrieve the 30mb sms file. And I can open and browse this file from the corrupted backup just fine using third party software.

So my ipod is still iOS 4 or somthing and I'm was going to update it on my laptop
when I go transfer my puschased iteams on my itunes it says "Are you sure you want to remove all existing music, movies, tv shows and tones from this ipod and sync with this itunes libary?"
I'm so confused what will it do? and what will it mean???

Follow these instructions to not lose any data. When you restore from backup as the article says the iPod will also be updated.
