U310 Windows 7 will not boot or recover
I have a problem with my Ideapad U310 as it will not boot into Windows, nor does the recovery feature work. A number of days ago upon powering on my laptop got stuck on the Windows 7 loading screen. I tried a few more times, including the 'Startup Repair', but there was no change. I still have warranty so I contacted Lenovo support and they called me back. An extra complication is that I live in Japan and bought the laptop here, but my Japanese isn't good enough to discuss computer problems over the phone and Lenovo does not have English speaking staff in Japan. A Japanese friend took the call for me and they suggested going back to factory settings. However, I did not have a recent backup so I wanted to secure my files first. I opened the laptop and made a backup of the most important files from the HDD (voiding the warranty, which seemed quite useless anyway since they don't have a physical address for repairs and all other support is in Japanese). I was then ready to try going through OneKey Recovery. After pressing the button I get three options and I choose the bottom one for the Recovery feature. Then Windows starts loading files ... and gets stuck again on a loading screen.
I don't know how to proceed now. I don't have a recovery CD, nor a disc drive. So is there a way to get a clean install of Windows 7 by USB, given my boot-up issues? Or is there another solution?
Have you tried the one key recovery button located beside the power button (on the side of the laptop)? It is the number1 in this picture: http://goo.gl/Tzsnvx
It should take you to the recovery menu (the one from Lenovo, not Microsoft). This should work as the recovery will wipe your Windows partition and will reinstall everything as it was in the beginning.
Anyway, before opening the laptop, you should have downloaded linux (any distribution was OK) and started it from a USB drive. You could have, then, saved all the files you needed located in the Windows partition.

I got after couple of years perfect comp. an terrible problem. The Windows will not boot, i can start it only with CD or sometimes i am getting message: how I wish to start Windows . I already tried to repair it, but no success. In the event log I could see only one notice : Service Control Manager event 7026, but this I had before with perfect comp.

* Power off the PC
* Power off the monitor
* Disconnect all cables from the monitor (USB, power, etc.)
* Disconnect all monitor cables from the PC (USB, VGA, DVI, etc.)
* While disconnected, press and hold the monitor power button down for 3 seconds
* Reconnect the power cord to the monitor
* Reconnect the monitor VGA or DVI cable to the PC video card
* Power on the monitor if it does not power on by itself
* Power on the PC
* Once into windows, open the Device Manager (Press the Windows key and the Pause-Break key)
* Click the Hardware tab
* Click the Device Manager button
* Click the plus by Universal Serial Bus Controllers (notate what is listed)
* Connect the USB Uplink cable from the bottom of the monitor to a USB port on the rear of the PC
* Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, you should see additional Generic USB Hubs
* This means the monitors USB Hubs were seen by the operating system

I recently bought new MSI gtx 770 lighting edition LE. When i choose in uefi as a primary gpu - PCIe, windows will not boot, and after few seconds screen goes black. If i go with primary gpu as integrated in processor i am ok to boot even i can play on monitor connected to GTX770. When i ran passmark benchmark, i get for VGA 3600 points, againt average 6300. Is there something wrong ? Thank you. Motherboard Asus sabertooth z77, cpu i53470k. PSU 600W, 8GB ram...Silly questions as this should be a no-brainer, but have you installed specific drivers for the 770 from the geforce website?

Windows will not boot. Recovery media not working. Satellite L675D-S7052
I am using a Satellite L675D-S7052 with Windows 7. When the laptop is powered on, it will only run to the Windows loading screen (windows logo on screen) and will stop. The logo remains animated but it will not load any further.
I attempted to reset to factory settings using the recovery partition. It will run through "Windows is loading files" to completion, but it will then go to a blank screen with only the mouse cursor showing.
Finally, I attempted to recover from recovery DVD's I made previously. It loaded through the same screens as the recovery partition, halting again on the blank screen with the mouse cursor.
I backed up all important files on an external hard drive already. I was able to successfully boot an Ubuntu 12.04.2 live disk and it ran correctly. I can access the files on the hard drive for back-up from Ubuntu. I have not altered anything.
That's as far as I can go on attempting to fix this. If anyone can help me find my next step, please advise.Hi! Sense you're not getting any replies, I will offer my opinion. Sense you can boot Ubuntu OS and it runs correctly,what else could be the problem but bad software?? You tried the recovery partition and the recovery DVD's and they reacted the same?? It's good that you can recover your important files. The recovery options are great, but a back up image on a external USB is your best protection. I just don't understand why people don't create a back up image of their OS. It's so simple!! When did you create your recovery DVD's?? Sense both recovery options act the same, I suspect corruption. That's the only thing that makes sense to me??

Bootcamp - Changed partition settings now Windows will not boot

I suspect I've created a problem that I've made progressively owrse in trying to solve... Any help appreciated!
A month ago I created a bootcamp partition (about 850Gig OS X and 150Gig for Win7), successfully installed Windows 7 and everything was fine.
After an acciental delete of itunes media incident I thought I would create a Time Machine backup partition on the OS X part of the drive so used the Disk Utility to do so, making sure I "took" from OS X and not the Bootcamp partition. I now had three partitions: OS X (500Gig), a Backup (350Gig) and a Bootcamp (150Gig) (I now suspect some of you might be screaming I've created the problem here already...) noting that the 150Gig Bootcamp partition is still as it was and the diagram in Disk Utility has always shown it as the bottom section.
Perhaps I'm being naive here but it never occured to me that splitting the OS X partition would have any impact at all on the Bootcamp partition!
Anyway, now I'm unable to boot to Windows (black screen "No bootable device" etc message).
Checking Finder, all the files on the Bootcamp partition still seem to be there - User settings/accounts, Program Files, the lot.
Is there anyway I can easily rectify this? (eg put the Windows 7 disk in and repair the install or something?!)
I tried deleting the extra Backup partition I created without luck (the space just gets greyed out and unallocated)

I really don't want to have to go through the whole mess of reinstalling Windows 7 on to the Bootcamp partition (that to my mind still hasn't been touched!)Your Boot Camp partition number probably changed, Windows does not like more than 4 partitions, you had 3 + Lion Recovery and one that Windows makes, and that is one too many.
You can try running Windows startup repair from the disk, but>
Before you do anything make a backup (a clone, for speedier disaster recovery)
If startup repair fails then reinstalling Windows is called for, so while you are at it I would repartition the drive completely, put your Lion installation back on the Mac from your clone, make a new prtition in Boot Camp and reinstall Windows. Then if you have backups of the Windows side (Windows Backup or similar) restore the data. -

I thought with Lion and notebooks that there already is a temporary hidden backup folder, hidden, check iwth Lion Comm. already.
Boot from Windows DVD and do some BCD magic to get it back.

Also, there are programs and even Windows 7 will create a system recovery CD and image... something you should be doing already so you never face loss or if a worm/mal/trojan/virus should cause havoc.

I have a MacBookPro 9,1 (mid-2012, non-retina) running OS X 10.8.2. Here is what I have done to my system:
Installed Windows 7 x64 Pro to a boot camp partition; installed all windows updates.
Using WinClone, save an image of this boot camp partition.
Removed optical drive and HDD.
Installed HDD in place of optical drive.
Installed SSD in place of HDD.
Booted to recovery partition, installed OS X on a flash drive.
Booted to flash drive, created fusion drive using [MacWorld's instructions](http://www.macworld.com/article/2014011/how-to-make-your-own-fusion-drive.html)
Booted to recovery partition on flash drive.
Restored system to fusion drive from a Time Machine backup. Unfortunately, it seems that because I never installed OS X on my fusion drive, I do not have a recovery partition. But that's an issue for another day.
Using Boot Camp assistant, created a boot camp partition on my HDD.
Using WinClone, restore my Windows installation from the previously created image.
Now, Windows boots to a black screen telling me that it can't find a bootable device. I have tried a few things to resolve this, all without effect:
I know that VMware Fusion has to prepare a boot camp partition in order to virtualize it, so I figured it might inadvertently fix things. Alas, while it *did* successfully boot my boot camp partition into a virtual machine, I still can't boot into Windows.
I figured I'd just try to reinstall Windows. Surprisingly, my system booted to my Windows install disc, which was in my original optical drive (which I had put in a USB case). But, Windows refused to install, giving me a an error 0x8030024. It seems the solution to this issue is to disconnect all drives but the one on which you want to install Windows, which is something I would dearly like to avoid. It would be a pain, but more than that, I'm afraid it would bork my fusion drive, even if I'm careful to never boot to OS X with the SSD disconnected.
A lot of places said that this error results from a borked MBR, and suggest using a tool like gptfdisk to rewrite it. I followed the instructions [here](https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4144252?start=0&tstart=0), but *that* didn't work either.
I am now completely at a loss as to how to proceed, and Google isn't much help either.

1. New Mini with internal 500GB with Mountain Lion(ML), put into an external FW enclosure, so the Mini can/could be booted using an external drive for contigency.
2. Replaced internal stock HDD (500Gb/5400rpm) with SSD/HDD (256Gb SSD/1TB 5400rpm).
3. Installed W7 x64 on 64GB partition on HDD, which was a single-partition drive to begin with.
4. The remaining HDD partition and the entire SSD was put into a Fusion drive.
5. Using Command-R, new ML installed on Fusion HD.

Satellite A110-293 Windows will not boot up. ntoskrnl. No recovery CD
I have a Toshiba Satellite A110-293 with Windows XP. I upgraded to Vista a few months ago. One day I turned on my laptop and got the following error message:

I presume you can order only the newer Toshiba Vista recovery DVD using this Toshiba website.
If you need a Recovery CD (Win XP) for this older Satellite series then you will have to contact the ASP (authorized service provider) in your country.
At the other hand you could use an original Microsoft XP CD to repair or to reinstall the OS.
By the way; did you try to boot the OS in safe mode pressing the F8?

A660-BT2G22 Windows will not boot or repair
The laptop is running windows 7 professional 64 bit. It locked up frequently and required a crash (holding down power button) finally it wouldn't boot at all. I ran the Windows recovery about 5 times and it said it could not repair windows. I tried booting off the Toshiba factory restore disc, still nothing. Any ideas or has anyone had this happen to them?

During many WIN 8/WIN 7 installations on 4 different drives (on my own computer) MULTIBOOT (up to 7 O/S's) with BACKUP/RESTORE operations - WINDOWS 8 Installation Disk Repair has NEVER solved a startup problem
MICROSOFT should be ashamed that a feature that WORKED with WIN 7 was not brought forward to WIN 8 Installation Disk. Those that don't have one, borrow one (Using repair should not infringe any rules)
My Hobby is installing O/S's:
One drive has WIN 8.1 PRO Preview, WIN 8 PRO, WIN 8 Release Preview-64, WIN 8 Release Preview-32, WIN 8 Consumer Preview- 64, WIN 7 - 32, WIN XP - 32 [EasyBCD ver 2.2 essential]
You need to be an enthusiast to install XP with SATA AHCI (Slipstream SP3, load AHCI driver on install)

I've seen what seems like this same issue posted many, many times, where it is an issue of Windows seeing a GPT partition/drive, so it won't boot. Is that not what's going on for me, too?

ProtectTools issue: Decrypting an encrypted ProtectTools HDD when windows will not boot.
Windows updates happened. Now the PC won't boot. Unfortunately, the HD is encrypted using the ProtectTools. While I can boot from the Win7 CD, I can't touch the OS partition since it's encrypted. I found the DiskTech2012.iso which I had hoped would be my salvation. This does boot but when I run "EETech for HPPT 7.0" the selection box says "Authentication Status: Not Authenticated. Activation Status: inactive" and won't let me click on any of the options.
Since I don't see the HP ProtectTools password screen when booting from CD, I'm assuming the above is because I haven't entered the password. If I go through the normal boot sequence and authenticate, I don't get to boot from the CD. Seems like a catch-22. How the heck am I supposed to get authenticated so that I can then decrypt the drive? I've got the USB key for this drive, I just want to be able to use it.

trying to boot up the windows half all i see if a blinking folder with a question mark and after several reboots it may/may not work
the installation seem fine nothing happened i got no errors so i am wondering what is happening.you don't have enough details for us /. you don't have a good install / did you login and setup the account once? / does it have enough free space / was the DVD burned from an ISO?
There are lots of things but not from your remarks.
What version Windows / what Mac year model and whether Boot Camp Assistant drivers were installed / how large a partition / read the guide

Satellite A665-S6050 Windows 7 Home Premium Memory Upgrade will not boot
Hope there might be a clue to assist.
Checked Toshiba support for recommended memory to upgrade from 2X2GB to 2X4GB. Ordered Kingston KTT-S3BS/4G x 2 as recommended. BIOS recognizes the memory, but Windows will not boot. Tried Safe Mode and hangs after a few seconds. Tried Repair Computer, also hangs after a few seconds. Put original memory back in and it boots fine. There was a brief flash of a blue screen once, but no dump file to be found.
To me it seems as ifthe issue is Windows, but I do not know enough about this to say definitively. Just based on the percieved behavior when Windows trys to boot (hanging).
Any ideas appreciated before I go through return and try something else.

Yes he did. But he ordered the Kingston memory that Toshiba recommended as he said...
Checked Toshiba support for recommended memory to upgrade from 2X2GB to 2X4GB. Ordered Kingston KTT-S3BS/4G x 2 as recommended. ... I tried both of the Kingston modules recommended and neither worked.
I'm suggesting that he try the Toshiba part number (PA3677U-1M4G) suggested in the spec, which is made by Axiom.

Hard drive detected but will not boot Windows Vista or recovery disk
Hi,
I have a very similar issue with a HP Pavillion a6355.uk, the hard drive kept crshing windows and then it finally just kept getting pass the HP boot menu options, and then all I get is the DOS "@press ctrl+alt+del to restart".
The hard drive is detected and passes all the tests, after pressing F9, going into the F10 options. F11 does not do anything, so cannot recover windows/the system.
I have tried changing the SATA connections on the motherboard, no difference. I tried the recovery boot disk I created when it was working and it will not boot with the old or new hard drive I bought to replace it (same size and compatable).
I cannot find where to partition the new hard drive or format the c: on the old one (it had D: for the recovery, but as it won't boot, cannot access this).
I have also tried the HP website to dowload the drivers for the new one, but the page does not load up to show any drivers or Windows to download.

Vista 32bit .iso You must have a valid installation key, which should be on the COA sticker on the computer, to activate the installation once it completes. ImageBurn to create the .iso disk. Driver page Vista (not 64 bit)
