  • Uc540 to Callmanager all working but no Voicemail from the Callamanger side

    I have created a connection between the UC540 and Cisco Callmanager 6.  I am using a H323 gateway connection and can call each site via 4 didgit dialing.   My issue is that the calls from the Callmanager side trying to go to the UC540 side can not hear VOICEMAIL prompts.  It goes into a fast busy.  Calling from teh Uc540 side to the Callmanager side is fine.  I can get phones and voicemail mail.  Has anyone had any experience with this?  I do notice that my Dial-peer to the callmanager side is H323... but the dial-peer to the Voicemail side of UC540 is SIP.  Has anyone got this working?  I have full connectivity to each VLAN from each IP subnet.  I can PING all Voice and Data VLANS.  One thing to know is this is using a site to site VPN connection as well.. so their is also a tunnel involved... but everything is working and I have connectivity.

    Ok here are the debugs.  I did not have anything for "show dspfarm profile" so I added conferencing using hte CCA.  Which created a DSPFARM for me.

  • Routing issue with ASA and UC540 phone system - at ASA???

    Having an issue with routing from the PC at .242 to the CUE server at 10.1.10.1. The CUE server is built into the UC540 phone system. It is an internal piece of software that is used for voicemail and management. The UC540 is not only a call router, it is also an IOS router. It has it's own WAN connection as does the ASA.
    Here are some facts:
    1. Can ping the UC540's internal CUE server from the PC ( ping to 10.1.10.1 )
    2. Can ping the UC540's VLAN 1 address from the PC ( ping to 10.1.10.1 )
    3. The ASA is the default gateway for the PC.
    4. I have a route inserted at the asa that is:
                   route 10.1.10.1 255.255.255.0 10.19.250.254 1
    5. I have a nat statement that prevents NAT from occuring but I don't think this is necessary as the 10.1.10.0/24 network isn't otherwise defined on the      ASA.
    6. I cannot pull up a web page when I point the browser on the PC to the 10.1.10.1 address
    7. I CAN pull up a web page on the PC when I create a static route on the PC iteslf :
                   route add 10.1.10.1 mask 255.255.255.0 10.19.250.254
         Is is only with this route that I am able to get to the web GUI on the phone system.
    8. The phone system has a loopback interface at 10.1.10.2 that serves as the gateway for the internal CUE server, the internal CUE server is at      10.1.10.1
    9. The switch is a 2960 and has a trunk port to the phone system to allow for the voice vlan which is at 10.1.1.0/24, no issues with this vlan and phones      are connecting to the system fine.
    Since I can get the GUI to come up when I set a static route on the PC, then I would assume that the routing in the phone system with it's internal server is fine as it wouldn't work otherwise. Since I can successfully ping the CUE server from the PC, that would lead me to believe that the ASA's routing is setup correctly..... TCP traffic doesn't seem to get to/from the CUE server.

    Where you able to solve this problem? It does sound like an issue with TCP state checking on the ASA. The Firewall needs to see both sides of the traffic but the return traffic is going from your UC540 direct to the PC. The firewall essentially kills the traffic.
    I would recommend disabling TCP state checking on the ASA and see if it works. Otherwise, you will need to stub route the UC540 as a separate VLAN off the ASA which needs to route through the ASA to reach the PC.

    and after a week of reading blogs i cannot get this unit back to factory default so i can connect to with the cli
    There is no dhcp on the interfaces and it will happily pass data from my lan when plugged into expansion port
    What i am trying to do is connect the WAN port to a public ip of 84.92.29.xxx
    and a lan side of 192.168.254.1/24 for the UC540
    and have the box run firewall, voip dhcp etc.
    I have a box full of Cisco 7941G phones with SCCP firmware on aswell
    every time i have tried to configure the box based on bloggs i get errors in relation to integrated-service-engine0/0.

    can you get console access on UC500? What does it look like? If still asking for initial configuration dialog I would say no. Then you may have to type enable and show run will get you the running config. Sounds like if you are not getting DHCP from the UC500 then the base config is no available. Once you get an IP on an interface you should be able to use CCA.

  • Configuring UC540 with 2x SPA525G2 (local and remote site)

    Just got this new system installed and not sure to get full capability.
    Here's my setup and feel free to send comments to help improve configuration.
    I have two SPA525G2 phone one local connected to the UC540 and the other one is remote and connected over the built-in VPN
    I have 4 incoming lines and we need to have both phone ringing all the time.
    On each phone at least one user extension button, one monitor button to see the status of the remote extension, and one group voicemail
    So that left me with only 2 buttons to control the 4 incoming lines.
    How should i do this setup on the two remaining buttons ?

    There are a lot of different approaches. The following are some of the approaches:
    1. create a group for each if the incoming lines and put the extensions of the two phones in these groups.
    2. Create extension for each line and make overlay buttons which include these extensions.
    3. Use B-ACD or AA and send the calls there and then forward to the extensions of the phones.

  • From start to finish on UC540

    Hello all,
    I don't know about you all.  But the CCA has giving me lots of problems.    So I got problems that i need to figure out.  We have small branch locations that have only about 5 to 20 users at.  So we have purchased 3 of these units (3 more on the way), because the UC320 does not allow us to chagne the voice VLAN ID from 100.  Each location will have there own set of VLAN IDs preset for Data, and Voice.  We only need the UC540 for voice "pbx" for the site and Wireless AP in the building were the UC540 will be. 
    Questions/Problems:
    Right off the bat I read everywhere that the UC540 is only supported in CCA and not CLI.  But I don't see away to enable VTP in CCA?  What can i do?
    So on the first and only unit thus far, I went ahead and enable VTP on the UC540 via Cli.  When I jump back into the CCA, to change IP settings, when I hit the Apply button the CCA starts configure "DHCP pools...", and stays there for ever.  How do i fix this?
    Also, the only other thing I have done in the Cli is create a SVI for our management vlan and added a route to the UC540.  So I can access the unit.  But i see that the UC540 uses BVI for interfaces.
    Here is what I'm tring to get to, so please any suggestions on how to get to this point:
    Enable VTP
    on the UC540 data and Voice VLAN ID change.
    The data VLAN is really only going to be used for wireless traffic into the existing wired network and Management of the UC540 itself.
    Change the Voice VLAN ID and subnet range, and be the DHCP server for the at VLAN.
    We need to configure SIP trunks over the WAN port.  But the UC540 will not need to NAT or support any firewall functions.  So will need to disable these.
    Enable Wireless for the Data VLAN.
    So please if you if anyone has a overview step by step i should follow, because what I have now is a unit that I can't change IP addresses on, or anything else really.  I haven't even started on the Telephony stuff.  Do you see any problems with these wants?

    The UC540 does not support VTP.  Please remember that the UC540 is designed for the stand-alone Small Business customer.  However, since UC540 runs IOS under the covers, you will see a lot of "artifacts" in the CLI.  But just because a feature appears in the CLI doesn't mean it's supported (or even works) on the UC540.  This is why you can't "save" it.  In general, I would not use VTP anyway as the UC540 only support 5 VLANs. 
    You can change the default VLANs from CCA.  By default, VLAN 1 is for data, and VLAN 100 is for voice.  But you can modify the defaults.  Just follow the directions on the CCA Configuration Guide on page 174. 
    You can change IP addresses and DHCP scopes (see page 185).
    You cannot "disable" the firewall, but you can modify the settings so that it's not performing any functions per se.  See page 248.  You can also disable NAT if you don't need it (page 233). 
    To enable and configure the wireless functions, see page 193.

  • New uc540 Deployment, repeating numbers with long key press on SPA525G2

    Isssue that I am having.  My client has a new UC540 build with all SPA525G2 phones with the latest firmware.  Since having the system for 1 day, they have accidentently dialed 911 5 times from dialing 9 then a 1 for long distance but if they press the 1 key too long, it repeats itself just like if you hold a key in on a keyboard.  Before calling Tech Support, I thought I would ask the community to see if anybody has any suggestions for me on how to keep the numbers from repeating themselves when holding the key in for more than a half a second?

    We had a couple 911 calls our first couple days with our uc540. What came up with was that our old phone system buttons had a different feel. With these cisco phones, if you press the button all the way down in a quick press, the nunbers never double for us. You can hold down forever and never get a duplicate. But if you press slowly or don't press the button all the way, I can get double numbers when pressing. I think that there's a point in the actuation that the button can float between on and off and that can give you double numbers (I think in the gaming community that this is called "spamming" the button). Our old system took less pressure to press the button all the way down and as soon as we told everyone to press harder we haven't had a accidental 911.
    If you push a button half way down and shake it left to right you can see a good example of how to spam the button. Yeah, that isn't how a person dials, but the first few days we got double-numbers just with people making calls. We have a few spa and a few 7900 series and we had issues on both but more on the spa phones.
    One specific person had the most trouble and this person doesn't have the most stable hands... She wasn't calling 911, but she just couldn't dial the right number because they'd get an unintentional double digit in the middle of their dialing. She really has to press every number deliberately to make calls--I wish I had a better solution for her because it makes here feel dumb.

  • UC540 and memory issues

    I had a customer with a UC540 call approx. three or four days ago, and he couldn't get from his home PC into his work PC via RDP.  The work PC is behind a UC540.  He restarted the UC540 (power cycle) and it seemed to start behaving.
    Today he was having voice quality issues and I noticed a decent amount of jitter on the line (I use PingPlotterPro to monitor his Internet connection).  So I had him power-cycle his AT&T U-Verse modem.  After that, he was unable to get any Internet connections so he had to power-cycle his UC540.
    Things seemed to improve a bit for a while, but then call quality suffered and I started to dig into the UC540 a bit, looking at its built-in diagnostics page.  The output on the diagnostics page had this:

    I'm truncating those logs a bit, I'm not sure how many lines helpers here may need telling us we're low on memory.
    So I'm not sure how to proceed.  After a reload, the SIP trunk takes maybe a call or two, and then I can't call in any more.  I'm not sure about calling OUT, I'm remote to the site.
    Any ideas on where to start?

    I have seen this in the past as well. I recommend the following:
    1) Disable DNS Server on UC540, then point all LAN PCs to using public DNS such as Google: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 This can be done manually for static or by changing DHCP Server scope options
    2) Make sure that the firewall is enabled on the UC540 WAN interface
    3) Ensure you are using the latest IOS version for the UC540 platform.
    It could be that your router is under attack or is participating in a DNS attack via your client computers.

    i have UC540 installed with 2 FXO cards connected to them 8 Analog lines the end user requirement to block outgoing calls form all phones except operator phone i apply the call permission for all phone as internal but they still can dial out .i have two rules one for local calls and one for international calls.
    how can i block the out going calls for all phones expect operator.

  • UC540 w/ latest SP stops serving web pages

    Okay, I have a customer out there with a 540 (the only 540 I sold) where they will call me, from one of their VOIP phones, via their SIP trunk, to tell me they can't get on the Internet.
    Obviously if their Internet connection had completely stopped we wouldn't be talking.
    So I am able to RDesktop in through the 540 and access a PC in their office, and cannot use that PC to get to any web pages.  The carp you say!
    So the UC540 is basically still handing phone calls, it can still handle RDP, but it won't serve-up web pages.
    This 540 has been in place for maybe nine months now, working pretty well.  The call I got today was the 2nd time this happened.  The first time it was maybe 3-4 weeks ago.
    Any ideas on what I can check? The fix, BTW, seems to be power cycling the UC540.  Next time I'm going to have them leave the UC540 and power cycle the cable modem (Time Warner).  But any tips on diagnosing this would be appreciated.

    I don't know this specific problem, but I do know that SP7 breaks the JHTML
              functionality, so maybe it is related. We went back to SP5, while looking
              at upgrading to 5.1

  • How to Upgrade UC540 from 15.1(2)T2 to 15.1(4)M4

    Hi All!
    I have not sure the step by step in procedure to upgrade UC540 due a bug CSCtt94391 and I didn´t find related documents with step by step
    a) I Just download the pack 8.6.2 included many .tar files and not any .bin image. Only near a IOS Image file is one called uc500-advipservicesk9-mz.151-4.M4b but is strange extension file for me.
    b) Is neccessary always CCA tool installed for upgrade??? in this case... Is neccesary the compatibility CCA 3.2.1 with 15.1(4) or is possible with the software instaled in before pack 3.0
    c) Is possible to upgrade only IOS software without impact via CLI with a bin file and force with "boot system flash" command with any procedure ?
    Please if you know any detailed procedure for upgrading i will aprecieate it !!!
    I would like to upgrade as soon as possible this platform an it is not clear for me the correct procedure.

    I download in the complete 8.6.0 pack the "" uc500-advipservicesk9-mz.151-4.M4b "" file. Is neccesarty to change to .bin extension or router will recognise that extension?
    Then I could copy the file .M4b into the flash card and delete old + relaod is that correct?
    There are any release referred ?, Service could be impacted heavily
    Could I download only .bin image in cisco.com web?

  • UC540 Cluster - Can it be done ?

    Is this possible to do?
    We have a client that currently has two branch offices and a UC540 at each.  They are consolidating these two branches into one office now.  The combined phones will exceed the UC540's 32 user limit.  So, can the two UC540 units be clustered/networked together in the one office to provide enough capacity for the extra phones?

  • Adding additional FX0 ports on uc540 via gateways

    Hi,
    Our sales rep has sold a UC540W-BRI-K9 to a customer but the customer doesn't have any BRI connections, they use PSTN lines.
    The issue is that they have 7 PSTN lines. We can purchase a 4 port FXO interface card but it's not enough to connect all the PSTN lines because the UC540 has only one expansion port..
    I guess the only option is to purchase a gateway device to allow the additional FXO.
    My question is, which media Gateway is supported on the UC540 via CCA programming?
    I know that SPA8800 is supported on the UC540 with the new software pack but it's only for the FXS ports.
    Are there any other devices?

    Hi,
         I am looking for possible solutions for adding an additional FXO line to a UC540 as well.  Mine already has the additional VIC2-4FXO module and all FXO ports are used.  From reading the Manuals, Release Notes, and Forums, it sounds like the 8800 will only support additional FXS ports.  I have not found a solid answer as to why that is.  It seems like it would be a hardware/platform overload issue for the UC540 to support more than 8 FXO lines.  Is this assumption accurate or is there something we can do about it?

    We have setup a UC540 at a clients office, and now they are asking if we can setup a Auto Dialer, so they can put a bunch of phone numbers and the system will call those phone numbers and read a small script. Basically like have the system cold-call.
    Does anybody know how this can be done? or if there is a script that we can use? or any other way that this can be accomplished.

    Make a phone call on iPad. Tap a phone number in Contacts, Calendar, or Safari. You can also tap a recent contact in the multitasking screen.
    Disable iPhone Cellular Calls. On your iPhone, go to Settings > FaceTime, then turn off iPhone Cellular Calls.
    You may have to use Face Time to make calls from the IPAD -- there are page or 2 on that --

  • UC540 Email Not working

    I am trying to setup the email of voice messages and fax messages using the UC540. This has been setup before but has stopped working in the past week or so. I have taken the following steps for toubleshooting:
    1) I can send/receive an email on my computer while connected to the data vlan wifi. I believe this proves the internets is setup correctly on the UC.
    2) I have double checked the email settings (un/pw/server/port) and that is correct.
    Is there another way to check why emails are failing to be sent for both voice mail and fax? Is there an error log to show these failed attempts?

    Since this is a SBS, allow annoymous relay from the IPs on the UC.
    On the UC, connect to the CUE via CLI (you can debug from CLI and maintain your CCA configuration, so you stay within Cisco support) to debug/trace the notifucation.
    Commands:
    no trace   all
    clear trace
    trace   voicemail msgnotif all
    trace   configapi smtp debug
    trace entitymanager NotifDevice all
    trace   smtp all
    show   trace buffer tail
    Make sure to use Putty and capture output to a file or adjust the window to be able to scroll back.  Make a call and leave a message, paste the output on here so I can review.

  • UC540 CTI Integration

    We have installed a UC540 for a customer - Insurnace Agent.  The customer is using an application called eAgent.  The customer would like to integrate eAgent with UC540/SPA504G telephones. The objective is that when someone calls then the eAgent Application will POP Up the customer's client name. Also, when in eAgent the customer would like to click on the telephone number in eAgent and then have UC540/SPA504G dial their client. We contacted eAgent and they said the following: #1) VOIP must be softphone solution on each user's PC.  This is usually in the form of a dialer/HUD or simply a plug-in with login and web-lauching configurations.  #2) VOIP must be able to append a URL (a phone query to the telephone #) supplied to each user by the aAgent system. #3) VOIP must be able to open an Internet browser window, after appending the URL, from the client's computer often done with: 3a) Shellex on a awindows application, 3b) Javascript on hosted based solution.
    Sorry for all this but maybe someone can point me in the right direction.  Is this doable/practical with UC540?

    The answer is yes and no.  I purchased a small app (TWL=Tapi Web launcher) from Paolo (below) -- very inexpensive. The call connector pop-up had to be installed for the TWL app to run.  I created a batch file (with the TWL app) to make it very simple for the Agent.  
    Basically, the Allstate Agents use a database (accessed via a URL).  The URL will simply take you to the database and clients are looked up. Alternatively, you can attach a telephone number to the URL and it will open the database already to that customer - no need for lookup becuase attached telephone number does the lookup. When a call comes in: the TWL app attaches the incoming telephone number to the URL to open a new page for that client (assuming that clients telephone number is in the database of the Agent).  
    The rub is that: it is not so easy as concerns other eAgent features. Like "clicking a number on the screen so that it initiates a outgoing call to that number".  This feature of eAgent, which is, for example, on every ones cell phone doesn't seem achievable with call connector - I am told by Cisco that this would work if the server application from Cisco is purchased but I wouldn't be confident of that and the Agent wouldn't pay for it.  In other words, not all of eAgent features are achievable.  In fact, one eAgent feature the client wants is to track calls to and from each employees but I am told this requires the purchase or development of a third party application to capture call data - place on a server - and write reports - the Agent was not willing to entertain paying for this.
    Let me know if you would like more specifics.  Also, thanks to Paolo for the simple app.
