  • Business Package for SAP Best Practices for Enterprise Portal

    Hi,
We are implementing EP for ECC 5.0 and we have to web enable some FI transactions like FB50/fb60 etc. We want to use standard business package for this. The only business package that caters this requirement is "Business Package for SAP Best Practices for Enterprise Portal 60.1". When i checked the data source for this business package, the specification is for "SAP R/3 4.6B and above". Does this work for ECC 5.0 as well? In general does the R/3 specific business packages work for ECC versions? Please let me know. Thanks for the help.  I promise rewards.
    Regards
    Hari

    Hari,
When you download the BPO via Portal Content Portfolio,
each bpo has additional information on the release.
    For example for the one you are inquiring about - Business Package for SAP Best Practices for Enterprise Portal, the additional release information is provided on the following links;

  • Enhancement pack for enterprise portal

    Hi,
How do I identify the enhancement pack for enterprise portal?
Also where is the information on the new features in the EHP 3 for portal listed?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Mahantesh

    Hi Mahantesh,
Please remember that the Portal is part of the SAP NetWeaver, so all the improvements will be contained in the EhP for NetWeaver.
I'd like to refer you to the SAP Enhancement Package 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 page here in SDN
    at:
SAP Enhancement Package 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0
There you will get all the information about your request.
It's very important to remark the following information:
    - This EhP for NetWeaver is not in General Availability, currently is in the RampUp phase, for more details you can check the RampUp page in the SAP Service Marketplace (login required) at: http://service.sap.com/rampup
    - Certain pre-requisites apply (like Support Packages)
    - To get this Enhancement Package you have two options, apply for the RampUp (you have to be in touch with your local subsidiary for details)  or wait for the official release. All the information about dates and procedures are fully mentioned in the links provided before.
I hope you find this information useful.
    Kind Regards,

  • Pro/cons for dev. environments for Enterprise Portal components

    Hi
I am looking for some positives and some negatives that should be considered when a client needs to decide on which development environment to use for Portal development. I am aware of three products, Visual Composer, Web Dynpro and NW Developer Studio.
Is there anyone who can briefly try to explain the positives and negatives with each?
    Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
    Kind Regards,
    Thomas Kjelsrud

    Hi Thomas,
    first, welcome on SDN!
    Then about your question:
The standard IDE for any kind of portal components / applications is the NetWeaver Developer Studio (NWDS). By this, you can develop different things (EJBs etc pp), but also portal specific projects (in the end: PAR files, based on AsbtractPortalComponent, DynPages or JSPDynPages) as well es WebDynpro applications. The latter are able to run standalone (ie not driven by EP, but by WAS J2EE 6.40), but there is also a tight integration into the portal environment.
If this is understood, you know that the question "NWDS or WebDynpro" does not make sense, for WebDynpro is developed through NWDS.
A first overview about this issue so far is https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/a1-8-4/exploring java programming models with sap netweaver developer studio.pdf
In that PDF, also the relationship of the tool NWDS and the programming model of WebDynpro is given (even if the term "relationship" may be misguiding, it's more that these two things are to be seen in a comparison, for they use different techniques, are meant for different aims etc.)
The VC is a totaly visual tool to build "applications" for EP mainly based on access to R/3 as backend system, for example. So it's focus is on building UIs which access backend information. That for sure is important for backend integration into EP, but the term "application" does not really fit.
For VC see https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/a1-8-4/developing code-free business applications using visual composer - beginner.abst and https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/a1-8-4/visual composer - a model-driven development tool for enterprise portal iviews.pdf as an introduction.
    Hope it helps

  • Want to prepare for enterprise portal development certification

    Hi,
please guide me how should I go ahead to prepare for enterprise portal certification.
1.Is there any eligibility for work experienec, if I dont attend SAP proprietary training courses, and prepere self?
    2. Is it really worth to prepare and give examination? Is it really makiing any impact in market to be certified?
how much time duration looks OK, to get certified
as I am in US, California, what are chnaces to get a suitable date to give exam.
    Thanks in advance.

    Ankit,
    1. Usually you would need 3-6 months of EP development experience. This blog may help.
    /people/umair.salam/blog/2005/12/13/beginning-ep-development
Some of the courses mentioned on link above can be done online.
    2. With experience and certification and the market need for EP developers, your chances of getting placed/hired are much better.
With not attending courses, it may take you 4-6 months on Self-Learning.
You can call SAP Education (1-888-777-1727, option 1) and schedule a test for either C_TEP15_04, or go to

  • Mobile Synchronization for Enterprise Portal

    Hello,
I ve to implement Mobile Synchronization for Enterprise Portal of my Organization .How do i go about doing this . I am very new to sap Netweaver Platform . please guide me with ur views , important links & documents .
(Generous Points Will Be Awarded   )
    Thanking you,
    Theja Anand

    Hi Theja,
there is no standard functionality for synchronizing content from the portal to a mobile device... as far as I know.
What kind of content do you need an the mobile devices?
"Synching" SAP transactions can be achieved with SAP Mobile Infrastructure, but you have to develop the needed applications especially for the mobile plattform and those apps are not integrated in the portal...

  • SSO for Enterprise Portal 6 with different Portal and R/3 userIDs

    Hi there,
We are using SNC library for SAP GUI logon to R/3 and SPNEGO for Web access to EP. What works for us currently is:
SSO from Windows logon to Portal using SPNego (LDAP as our datasource with AD)
However once we are inside the portal, the SSO to R/3 using SNC is not working. I have my Portal user mapped to my R/3 user as they are different usernames.
But, if i launch SAP GUI on its own i can SSO into R/3 no problem.
So, i have 3 queries here!
    1) Why am i not able to SSO into R/3 once i have SSO into Portal?
    2) Is there any way around the high maintenance of the user mapping?
    3) I have read on SAP Help about "Using an LDAP Directory Attribute as the ABAP User ID" but this will still require user / administrator to maintain the R/3 password.
Is it possible to disable the R/3 password and thus have no maintenance as the R/3 (ABAP) User ID will be stored in LDAP attribute?
    Hoping you can help...
    Thanks.

    Answers below:
    1)
When you say "ITS" I assume you are referring to the Integrated ITS in NetWeaver, not the external ITS product ?
Anyway, if you are referring to Integrated ITS, then surely you are using webgui, not SAP GUI. The webgui is accessed via browser and is not related to SNC or SAP GUI product. The SAP GUI product is a Windows application that uses SNC to authenticate to SAP systems.
If you are logged onto portal, which is a J2EE application and trying to access webgui which is running on ABAP Engine, then this might not work becasue your SSO2 trust is not setup correctly. Do you see an error in work process log saying anything about why the SSO2 ticket is not accepted ? Also, if ABAP and JAVA are on same system and Java Engine was installed as an add-in, you might need to create new SSO2 certificates to avoid a clash, and change client number from 000 to something else so SSO2 tickets issued in J2EE engine are differentiated from SSO2 tickets issued by ABAP Engine, but they are still trusted through configuration in STRUSTSSO2 t-code.
    2)
You need to use a different product, which is available from a SAP partner to do this. I am not allowed to mention third party products on this forum, so if you want to know more you will have to contact me offline via email.
    3)
    See answer to question 2.

  • Technical Specification for Enterprise Portal

Our EP consultant left without delivering Technical Specification. Now, we need to prepare this document mainly for handover to support team. Coming from BW background, I have little knowledge on what is expected in the document.
What I can think of at the moment are that we need to document the followings:
    1. Portal Content structure
    2. iViews Configuration
    3. Portal Display
Is there anything else missing? Or can someone share with me the structure of a complete Enterprise Portal Technical Specification?
    Thank you very much!

    Hi  M. Syuhair,
That's a rather unfortunate situation that you have walked into where the implementer has left without documentation.
I would start the document with a blueprint diagram of the platform landscape, with each of the logical instances purposes described. You should include the OS and DB versions and any specifics on security zoning you may have. Then move into a diagram for transport flows and description of the purpose of the Portal. i.e. used for BI and ESS/MSS scenarios.
Also I would describe the integration with the solution, how security is provided, what other components are integrated (i.e. document repositories), how transports are performed (CTS, NWDI etc) and what systems are connected and SLD connectivity. Also mention UWL and Adobe services if they are deployed and anything else that represents significant usage.
After this point you can dig deeper into the detail and provide a description of the details of the business packages with versions you have deployed to the portal (use the NWA to look up package versions if you donu2019t know this already) along with the name spaces and PCD hierarchy that has been chosen to ensure standards are followed during maintenance by the support team.
Remember your support staff should be starting with at a minimum a basic understanding of standard SAP Portal implementations so getting to the detail of how each iView is configured would be taking the document too far.
Your purpose of the document is in providing the framework for support to be able to know what standards they should follow and how to quickly find out the implementation specific details. This should be your objective.
Starting this from scratch without any portal experience is not advisable, I would suggest you engage another Portal consultant to perform the task as familiarity with the core solution is really a must.
    Regards
    Daniel

  • Getting the Username and password Of Enterprise Portal in WebDynPro

    Hi Friends,
I have developed one webdynpro application to read the excel sheet from KM Repository. i have used URL to open the connection to that excel file and to get the Inputstream.
While opening the connection to the excel, I've hardcoded the username and password. I need to get the username and password of the user who login into the Enterprise portal and runs that application. then  i need to pass that username and password along with URL of the Excel sheet.
Could you people find the solution and replied to me. I am waiting for your bright answer.

  • Execute  HCM Process and Forms on Enterprise Portal ?

    Hi Experts,
I have done a scenario on Employee Relocation Process with the reference of the  tutorial specified in help.sap.com. [Here's the link|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/fe/1bd54243063658e10000000a155106/frameset.htm] in HCM Processes and Forms
The following are steps  which i have done so far ....! relevant to that tutorial .
    1) Created ISR Scenario
    2) Created Form Scenario
    3) Created Linkage between ISR and Form Scenarios.
    4) Checked the consistency of the Linked ISR and Form Scenarios. Everything was fine ...
I have designed the form layout with relevant form fields that are required for the relocation process (HCM Forms)  and created a workflow template with all the required steps specified in the tutorial .
Now my questions are as follow's:
    1) how to test the HCM process ?
    2) In which environments can I test the process ?. Can I test HCM process in Enterprise Portal if yes how  ....?
    3) In what way thus MSS and ESS are connected to HCM Process and Forms.
I am confused about this, can you experts please explain in details ...!

Looks like a program error to me.
Running a system on SAP_ALL to make it work cannot be a solution, so do an ST01 trace to find out which authorization exactly is missing and what is checked before the dump, and consider adding it if appropriate.

  • Extraction list roles and users for entreprise portal.

    Hi Everyone,
I work on Enterprise Portal only java.
I want to extract the list of all these users with their roles
    How do I proceed?
    Thanks for the help!
    Regards Giglio

    Giglio,
Its possible to access the list of user and their roles from portal in several ways:-
    Approach 1:
User Admin -> Import/Export -> User Data Export -> Press Export Button -> Copy the user content and store in a seperate file -> Done.
    Approach 2:-
You can write a custom progrram in Java using UME API to get the portal user information. You can use webdynpro for java or JSP Dynpage/abtract portal component to use UME API.

  • Looking for Enterprise Portal training

I am looking for recommendations, for Portal Admin training (EP6).  We are about to upgrade from EP5 to EP6, and take on a few new projects on the new platform.  I would be interested in topics such as installation, security, deploying iviews, system configuration, user management, monitoring and tuning.
I am NOT looking for developer training, I am in Basis and we have other developers that will write the code.
    Thanks,
    Scott

I am new to SAP Enterprise Portal (NetWeaver) and am looking for advice on SAP courses to take.
I am looking to start with SAPEP (SAP NetWeaver Portal Fundamentals).  Do you know of anyone that has taken this course and could you tell me if it is beneficial to take as a preview to JA100 (SAP J2SE fundamentals)?  Can I continue with the Java courses without this class, etc?
    Is SAPEP worth the costs?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi All,
We have connected our BI portal to Enterprise Portal . The federation works fine for Bex 7.0 queries. But when we run WebI and Crystal Reports ...We get the following error
    Portal Runtime Error
An exception occurred while processing your request
    Exception id: 05:20_30/03/10_0027_1281950
See the details for the exception ID in the log file.

Others have posted the same question in forum but there is no answer. Could any of you resolve this issue??
    Thank you in advance,

    Hi Hanif,
I'm working on federation between EP 7.4 and EP 7.0.

  • Bex Query Variable error in Webi and Crystal for Enterprise

    Hi,
We just upgrade to BOBJ 4.1 SP2 and BW7.4 SP5
I am creating a webi report based on a BEx query. There is Variable on Period/Fiscal Year from BEX side(Mandatory prompt) when I try to create a Webi or Cyrstal for Enterprise report the below error pops up. Other Bex queries work correctly. Can it be the values in the variable the following values exist when execute from Bex i.e. 001.2012; Period 2013
Is the SAP Note : 1611185 relevant for 4.1 SP2
    Error:
    com.businessobjects.sdk.core.server.CommunicationException$UnexpectedServerException: Termination message sent

Is this True for BOBj4.1 SP2?

Thanks Henry! I was looking for this confirmation that it is a limitation of Webi and I'm not missing something.

It is not possible to set Authorization variables as mandatory. They are set to "optional" and cannot be changed (BEx limitation).
