Unable to activate iPhone 3GS after IOS 5 upgrade

Hi: I was prompted by iTunes to upgrade my iphone 3GS to IOS 5. I didn't "steal" or did anything illegal. I have upgraded my iPhone software many times before through iTunes and never had any problems. So naturally I clicked "download and upgrade". Little did I know what trouble I got myself into. I'm not able to activate my iphone, and since I am overseas, I don't use my phone for everything except making calls, the phone is locked so I can't use any foreign sim card. I am very angry at Apple for doing something like that. Since I rely my iphone for all communications. Why would they ask me to upgrade then not allow me to activate my phone??????? This is not the first time Apple does something like that. Owning an Apple product should be headache free since we are paying a premium for it. But the reality is far from it.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Prakash, same problem I'm also facing after updating, while at that time without restarting u can do this.
Make a Call to your iPhone from any other number and attend that call. That's it the problem is temp.. Solved.

OK a bit of success over the weekend. Not sure if it will help you guys. So i have an IPHONE 3gs and it would not play any music through the JBL but it would ring (through the JBL speaker) and charge while connected.
I sync'ed through itunes and made sure i had the latest version of both itunes and the IOS on the phone. Then pushed some podcasts and albums down from my computer to the iphone through the computer.
This must have sone something as now everythign works fine. all radio and music apps now play through the JBL.

I have read many blogs on the same problem on different websites but could not solve this issue. I am quite disappointed.

Yes that was but it was long time ago when it was jail broken.

After upgrading Iphone 3GS to IOS 5 it does not connect to the Itunes store for updates. I am able to download apps from Icloud but when I try to update apps it gives me an error that it cannot connect to the itunes store. I tried shutting down and restoring the phone. Yes I have both, but I know a lot of times that wi-fi doesn't work with email. And it's all of my yahoo! accounts too. My gmail and iCloud works fine.

Unable to restore iPhone 3Gs with iOS 4 (error 1013)

I recently updated my 16GB iPhone 3Gs with iOS 4 (iPhone2,14.0_8A293Restore.ipsw) using iTunes 9.2 - it worked fine for a few days then all of a sudden I got a pop up message saying "you are unable to make or receive calls, please connect to iTunes". I did so and restored the firmware, it went through the whole cycle, unpacked, installed, verified and when it was about to be completed I got the following error from iTunes:
"The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1013)"
The phone remained in restore mode (iTunes icon and USB cable). I tried restoring again with the same result. I then deleted the firmware file, rebooted and reinstalled (same error). I then deleted a reinstalled iTunes (no dice). I tried alternative USB ports and cables and also tried on 2 other computers and tried all this in DFU mode too yet nothing has worked.
I would also like to point out that it is an original O2 phone with O2 chi[p that has *never been jailbroken*. Any ideas as to whats wrong? Or what I can do? Thanks in advance for you help!

The Genius said He was unsure what error 1013 was so he looked it up and explained "It's an error related to the baseband and that more than likely the phone was unable to communicate with Apple servers as Apple had the phone marked as non existent"
He continued to explain that there was a fix he could do but would be quicker and easier to replace my phone. He did so and I left happy.
I recomend you just take your phones in if you are having this same issue!

Cannot activate iPhone 3gs after update

May someone please tell me that why I cannot register my iPhone 3GS after upgraded to 6.XX iOS version? I tried and could not. The other problem I have is I am not is USA. The only way I can get this activated is by iTune, it keeps failing over and over.
Anyone have idea how can I get this done please? It is very frustrating seeing i ca't use my phone even though it works very good.

Yes but it is not ATT. I am overseas and I cannot connect to ATT Cell Tower. Moreover it iTune does help also. It seats and times out.

HT4061 unable to activate iphone 3gs with itunes

I was recently given an I-Phone 3 GS by my daughter in law. The phone had not been used for several months and was naturally dead. I bought a charger and was able to charge the phone successfully but am unable to configure the phone and activate it via i-tunes. The phone had an Orange network SIM card in it which, i was advised may have been deactivated during the months of non usage. I was also advised to buy a new Orange PAYG sim to see if that worked but still unable to get the phone activated.
The phone displays no service message so does not appear to recognise the Orange SIM, also on first attempt to activate with new SIM i received message stating that the "pairing information was not found". Since then just get "unable to activate iphone at this time" message from i-tunes.
Is anyone able to offer any advice or am i flogging a dead horse with this phone?

i'm not familiar with iphone(i have htc, for shame:-)) Cydia? i can get no further than entering language, country and WiFi connection before it trys then fails to activate.

The last backup could not be completed - iPhone 5 after iOS 7 upgrade

I'm using iPhone 5 & iPad with Retina Display.
iCloud backup was used for both devices.
Now everytime I try to backup manually, it says 'The last backup could not be completed.' after iOS 7 upgrade.
Auto backup isn't working, either.
I tried several things like backing up using iTunes then deleting previous backups then turnning iCloud backup again, or turning off Camera Roll in backup option , or holding the power button and home button to reset the device.
None of them worked yet.
What should I do?
I just have noticed that I cannot find iPhone 5 among the products registered with my apple ID below before I was posting.
Is it concerned with my apple ID or something? Not the devices?

since i upgraded to iphone 6 have the same issus. that includ in my Ipad - probably something happened wiht the Apple ID.

I just followed AT&T's instructions to unlock my iphone 3GS which was on iOS 4.1
First I took backup and then updated iOS to 6.1 and after it it was tryin to activate my iphone but could not do it, it keeps on showing message
"Unable to activate your iphone because activation server is temporarily unavailable"
I even tried to get it back to recovery mode and di the process again but same msg shows up at the step of ACTIVATING iphone, I tired it with and without active SIM card too but same.
Plz let me know what's wrong with it

This happens to iPhone which is unofficially unlocked. Nobody here can tell you the carrier to which your iPhone was locked.
