Unable to add tracks to iTunes 8 (mac os x 10.5.7)

Hello,
I'm unable to add some tracks to iTunes.
I got a playlist, when I drag the tracks to it iTunes will not add them and will not give an alert message.
I saw only previous solutions for PC users that offers a tag remover applications but did not say any for mac (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7818873).
If the same issue, why it wasn't fix in this version?

Ah, these are all files from the same place? Can you tell me anything more about them? Where are these files located? On a separate drive? Have you tried to do "Get Info" on them in Finder? How did your friend copy them? And where from? And you are sure they are MP3 and not WMA ?
(It could after all be the problem mentioned in that other thread - ID3 tags. This would not be a bug, merely an incompatibility. You could ask your friend to copy them again, but this time as simple MP3s with no tags).

the song downloaded automatically comes to local disc C:/ but its DRM protected so i cant manually copy/paste it to my mobile it has to be done via ovi suite options but ovi displays "unable to add tracks" i tried reinstalling all nokia softwares but the problem persist ...plz help

Can you batch rename tracks in iTunes for Mac?

I want to do a sequential track naming, but I can't figure how to do this and the Doug's applescript isn't working - it renames my FILES instead of the TRACKS!
These tracks are from an audiobook on CD, and it's tiresome to have to search for the "part" when all the tracks are numbered 1-99 and the only thing keeping them from being in the wrong order is the fact that I told iTunes the disc order in the 'Get Info' menu. It wouldn't be so hard on the MacBook, but I usually listen to these on my iPhone, and scrolling through literally hundreds of tracks takes forever, and sometimes I STILL can't find which track was playing last!
I've done a batch rename using an Automator workflow setup I found on the web, but I can't find anything that lets me actually rename the tracks. I've even deleted the tracks from iTunes, renamed the files, deleted the faulty script that screwed things up, and it STILL comes up with the weird numbers and track numbers and renames the files in Finder!!!
I'm getting really frustrated with this and don't want to have to rename tracks by hand because that takes HOURS.

Unable to add files to itunes

i had my mac air retored to factory settings and now my itunes is wiped out. and i am trying to add files to it the way i used to by drag and drop. When i drag the file into itunes, the plus sign appears like it normally does. But once I drop, nothing happens, the file is not transferred. What do I do? ever since trying to udate to IOS 7. it has just been mishap after mishap, i lost much of the sofwares, files, and apps that i was using and i cant even add new files. Please help.

Your profile says you are running OS X 10.6.8, which is now quite old. Is this correct? Are you also running a very old version of iTunes? Have you considered updating both?

Ipod with doc suddenly is unable to be seen by Itunes or Mac

I have a 15G Ipod that was working fine up until a couple of weeks ago. I suspect that it was just about the time that my OSX upgraded to Itunes 7.02, but I can't say for sure.
Now the ipod will not mount on the mac/ I have tried on my powerbook 500 mhz, and also my mac mini, which is over 1gz. Same problem...the ipod does not mount on the desktop and is not recognized in itunes, system profiler, etc.
I have done the 5 R's with no success. I have tried the resetting of the firewire port by powering down the mac, and removing the power cord as well, and then restarting the mac. Still no ipod mounts.
I have a 10g ipod that mounts via the same firewire port with no problems.
Ipod connects via plug in and doc, and appears to be charging. IF you hold it to your ear the disc drive appears to be powering up, but you get the apple in the view screen with nothing else, and no other buttons work to bring up playlists, menu, etc.
What can I do to bring the dead back to life...Thanks, Jim

I'm replying to my own question! I remembered that I had the USB connector for my Ipod which I had never used; plugged it in as a last resort, and voila, the Ipod showed up in Itunes and I was able to update my Ipod with some new songs & audiobooks. I can only assume my firewire connector has died. There are some reasonably-priced firewire-dock connectors available online, some with retractable cords.
Hope this works for others.

Unable to add track to On-The-Go while in shuffle mode?

Whenever I am in shuffle mode and I add a track to the On-the-go playlist instead of adding the track that is playing it seems to always add whatever was the first track that I landed on when I entered shuffle mode. This seems like it must be a software issue.
Can anyone duplicate this?

Everytime i try to drag a song into my library or add file a window will come up 'itunes has stopped working' and my itunes will stop working? How can i fix this?

Solved. I changed the iT folder and my iP got lost the connection with the proper library. Had to change it back and re-connect to the correct library.

If I have iTunes match, how can I physically add tracks from iTunes to my phone?

I'm travelling to an area without WiFi and 3g with poor reception so I want music to actually physically copy the music onto my iPhone. When I try to drag the tracks over to my phone in iTunes, it says that it hasn't copied them over becuase they are available via the Cloud.

Unable to join tracks using itunes 11.1.5.5

Used to be able to select cd tracks and join them using the "option" drop-down. Now that drop-down only shows "get track names" & "submit CD track names". Any solutions known? Started about a week ago.

You cannot highlight a column - if you click on a column, it sorts by that column. Also, the column to the left of the name is a tick-box column, which cannot be sorted or highlighted.
However, the column to the left of that, the one with the numbers in it, as shown in my screenshots, is the track number. If you have clicked on it, you will have reversed the track order and Join CD Tracks will not be available. Look:
But if the number column is clicked again, putting the songs into the correct order, then the Join CD Tracks is there - as explained in my previous post:
Note the direction of the arrow in the number column in each shot.

Unable to add videos to iTunes 7

I downloaded iTunes 7 yesterday evening. After i was finished installing and i connected my ipod a warning appeared saying that none of the videos in itunes could be copied to the ipod because of their format, but even though in version 6.0.5 the videos played and loaded onto my ipod. all my videos were converted to m4v. i deleted the old videos and tried to import the converted videos again, but iTunes didn't seem to do anything. the videos just don't seem to appear in the Movies library or in my playlist.
Can somebody please help me? should i just wait for an update or downgrade to earlier version?

I am having a very similar problem,
I backed up a bunch of TV shows that I paid for through I tunes on an external drive. However when I try to drag them back into my library they don't work. I spent 60 dollars on two seasons that I can no longer get to work now that I have upgraded. Is this how we should be rewarded for supporting itunes. How do you take MP4 that you had in a different hard drive and back them up. I never copied the whole library just the folder with the tv shows in it. Please help!!!!!!!!

Unable to add music to my iTunes.

I have music on my computer but I'm unable to add it to iTunes. I've tried clicking and dragging it in and I've tried File>Add to library and neither work. Anyone got any ideas?

I managed to dig up the CD's that the tracks came from and imported them directly from the CD's to the library. I still am not sure why transferring the files from my computer did not work, but at least I have the music on there now. Thanks so much for your help!

Can't add music to iTunes 10.6.3

I am running iTunes 10.6.3 on my OSX 10.5.8 . All of a sudden (well, maybe I just noticed it, but definitely within the last three weeks) - can't remember if I updated in that time period), I am unable to add music to iTunes. I can't drag and drop, can't do file --> add music to library, nothing. If I get music by converting youtube to mp3, THAT opens in iTunes, but I've just downloaded an entire album and don't really want to go converting fifteen+ songs one by one.
I don't have Cloud, don't have match.... can anyone help me?

Hold down the option key while starting iTunes, then select library. Your library is stored in your Home > Music > iTunes > iTunes Library.itl file
iTunes can be picky about mp3 formatting and not all mp3s files are created the same.

Add mp3 to iTunes, delete file from Downloads, add Comment?

I'm trying to make a folder action that will:
- Watch my 'Downloads' folder for downloaded .mp3 files.
- Add those .mp3 files to iTunes, letting iTunes copy to music folder.
- Delete the original file from the 'Downloads' folder.
- In iTunes, append '#single' to the Comment field of added .mp3.
So far I have the first three working, but cannot get it to append the #single part to the Comment field, here's what I have:

Better yet, an Applescript that can be used as a folder action to watch the Downloads folder and:
1) Open .mp3s in iTunes and append #single to track Comments, then delete original .mp3s.
2) Open .zip and .rar archives, parse then unarchived folder for .mp3 files, add them to iTunes, append #album to track Comments, then delete original folder of .mp3s.
2a) Bonus points if the script adds the .mp3s to itunes in descending order based on file name track numbers (track 10, track 9, track 8...).
