I am unable to charge my ipod shuffle. It will not show in itunes or on my computer.

i have the same problem and apple doesnt really help. im probably going to send it back in for a new one if its free

MacBook doesn't charge iPod shuffle

The only way to charge iPod Shuffle is by connecting it via USB port to your computer. So I wonder why on earth my MacBook is not capable to charge it while it is shut down let alone when it is put to sleep! If a battery can be charged in aforementioned situations so should the iPod Shuffle.

No. It gives every indication that it is sleeping normally: pulsing front light, becomes cool to the touch, wakes when lid opened or key pressed, doesn't do anything strange when awakened. I also haven't used pmset to change the sleep setting from default; it pauses before the sleep light pulsates as if it's writing the sleep image to disk.
As a matter of fact, it continues to provide power with two different pads. The cheap inline switch on the pad failed and I had it replaced under warranty. The second unit has the same behavior.

How long have you left it to charge? Are you plugging it into a USB wall adapter or a USB port on your PC or Mac?
Are you using the same cable that originally came with the iPod Shuffle?
After leaving the iPod to charge for a minimum of 30 minutes have you tried to bring it back to life with a hard reset?

I am trying to update an iPod Shuffle 2nd generation I haven't used in several years. I keep getting the error message saying "Unable to restore I Pod shuffle due to errors.......(long list of choices)
I unplugged it, repluged it, again I was asked if I wanted to update the software, I said yes, and I don't know what's happening now! This shuffle has hardly ever been used and I want to use it now when I bicycle...Any suggestions?

Are you connecting the USB cable to a direct USB port on the Mac (instead of a hub or spare keyboard port)? Are you using the USB cable with a mini-dock at the iPod end (the one it came with)?

having some problem with my ipod shuffle, itunes cannot detect the ipod. from the windows explorer its indicate that the ipod is not formatted. what will i do for the itunes to detect it? pls. help.

Close all applications. Connect the iPod shuffle to the computer in My computer/windows explorer right click on the iPod drive and click on Format. After formating right click on the formated drive and Eject it and then disconnect from the computer.
Launch the iPod updater and connect the iPod shuffle to the rear USB port of the computer(if you are using a desktop) and then restore the iPod shuffle and transfer the songs from iTunes.

ISync unable to see iPod Shuffle

I have two iPod minis and one iPod Color display synched to my G4 iMac with iSynch. I now want to add an iPod Shuffle to iSynch.
It is connected via a Shuffle Dock and the iPod Shuffle appears ok on my desktop.
However, I can't get iSynch to see the Shuffle. After scanning it says 'No Device Found'.
Any idea why? Is there a limit to the number of devices I can use with iSynch?

Charging IPOD SHUFFLE on a Windows 98 computer

Alright, my Ipod was purchased 2 days ago and I uploaded my music to it yesterday off of my friends computer(Win XP).. But my problem here is when i charge it on this computer that doesnt have Itunes or anything iPod related the orange light blinks continuously when charging. I looked throught "My Computers" device manager and it appears its not recognized as a "Disk" but as a "other device"... does this mean that my Ipod is safe to be removed from my USB port since there is no real connection?
And also i read previously that if my orange light blinks continuosly i wont be able to know when its fully charged.. any suggestions or help to make this seem more clear to me?

1) Yes with out Itunes taking the Shuffle out of data mode (I know you can't use Itunes on that computer) the orange light will continue to blink even after the Shuffle is fully charged.
2) Yes it will be safe to remove.

Nothing happening when iPod connected to computer (unable to charge iPod)

Last week my 1st generation iPod nano was working fine, I had charged it to full battery and used it until the battery went flat.
Now when I connect the iPod to the computer, nothing happens. Nothing appears on the iPod screen and iTunes is unable to detect the iPod.
Since the battery is now flat, I can't even turn the iPod on. I have tried holding down the centre button and the menu button for 10 secs but nothing happens.
When I use the same cable on a different 1st generation iPod Nano, it charges and connects fine.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and what I can do to fix it?

I have the same exact problem. I have an older iPod which connects perfectly, but my 1gb Nano isn't recognized. I just want to change the songs on my Nano.

Unable to reset ipod shuffle

1st generation. I tried to delete all songs and now have orange bar showing most of Ipod (94%) full although there is nothing on there. Tried the factory setting reset function but it takes takes me to apple login that doesnt accept my log in credentials, which I know are correct. I can sign into Itunes but not able to sign in when asked to reset to factory defaults.Pleas help if able. Thank you. Tom

The "deposit" is a guarantee against return of your old one after you've received the replacement...you'll be charged IF you don't return it.
BTW, on-line Apple Store has refurbished 2nd Gen shuffles for $49taxshipping.

Using airport express to charge iPod shuffle

Anyone ever try this? I need to travel out of town for a few days at a time, without a laptop. Seems a waste to purchase a iPod USB charger/adapter when I have this lovely airport express sitting in the next room. Seems to have a USB plug on it. Would fit easily in my carry on luggage.

i think this device have a mechanism to cut off the charging process if device temperature too hot. such a safety system so this ipod won't burn out when overcharging.

IPod shuffle 4th generation will not turn on?!?!

My iPod shuffle 4th generation flashes red for 3 seconds when connected to the USB charger but will not turn on, charge or connect to the computer. This means i can not go through the basic trouble shooting reset steps. I tried turning it off waiting 10 seconds and turning it on. I made sure the buttons were no diabled. I updated my iTunes and updated all software on my computer and restarted it. I also made sure the USB port works by putting something else in- it works. I am running out of options given on the apple website!!! WHAT DO I DO?

It sounds like your iPod is not charging, and you have already restarted your computer as well as updated your iTunes application and the issue persists. You have also verified that the USB port works for other devices.
