Unable to Choose Photos to Share with Apple TV

I am trying to "Choose Photos to Share with Apple TV" within iTunes. However, I get the following error message
Photos folder syncing has been disabled for the Apple TV “” because the folder “(Unknown)” cannot be found.
Any help would be apprecited.

Since the problem you are having is with iTunes this would be better posted there.  Is this a first generation ATV?  From the error it sounds like the option is selected to sync ATV with photos from a specific folder, and iTunes is not able to find that folder.  If you look what folder is selected.  Have you checked to see if that folder is present?

  • I updated the photos that share with Apple TV but old photos display during music

I updated the photo file that shares with Apple TV, and they display correctly when I play the slide show, but when they play slideshow with music playing it's the old photo file. How do I get the new photos to display during music? Thanks

Not sure what you are trying to do, but the photo is just cached.  You might try restarting ATV and see if that will foruce a cache relaod.
What is it you did?  Did you update an image, cover art, photo stream?  It could also be that what ever you updated it not what is being displayed.  For instacne if you updated something in iPhoto, but are pointing to Photostream that will not have an effect.  Same problme if you are looking at cover art while the music is playing.

  • Where do I select the photos to share with my ATV?

I have updated to the latest iTunes but now can't find where to set up/manage home sharing so that I can get my ATV 'talking' to my iPhoto library on this computer.
To be clear, Home Sharing is set up and working (kinda, sorta) -- for example, in iTunes I do see my other computer under "SHARED" on the left -- and on that computer I do see this one.  But I do not see my Apple TV listed under DEVICES.  This is rather puzzling since the Apple TV can see this computer -- on the ATV I can see the photo albums I selected some time ago but I cannot now find where I check the boxes to specify which albums in my iPhoto Library to display on the ATV.
The new photos that I just loaded into iPhoto on this computer DO show up on the ATV now ... because "Last Import" is one of my always-checked folders.  But I would like to select (check the box for) the new folder I created for these photos since (obviously) after I do another import I won't see these photo in the "Last Import" album.
So ... I need to be able to get to the checkbox to tell ATV to view that album (along with the others).  I cannot find how this is done in the newest iTunes.  Some of the old threads talk about the "Advanced Tab" ... but I no longer see such a tab in the new iTunes.  I do see an "Advanced" icon in iTunes Preferences but there's nothing there for Home Sharing.
FWIW, when I am in iTunes Preferences and click on the "Apple TV" icon, my Apple TV's name does show up there as being "connected to iTunes" ... but that is the only place where (so far) I have found any reference in iTunes to my ATV device by its name.
    What am I missing?!?  (Thanks!)

You will not see the Apple Tv under devices this is normal. The method to share the photos to Apple TV is slightly different from normal syncing
From the top Menu ( Ctrl B if you can't see it on a windows Machine.
File > Home Sharing . Choose Photos to share with Apple TV

  • Please advise where is the page that lets me choose what I share with Mozilla / Firefox is.

Occasionally my computer seems to go off on a frolic of its own - lights on, whirring, very slow to respond to my instructions, etc. Recently I noticed a message in the bottom right corner of my screen along the lines 'Choose what I share' There was an explanation that Mozilla sent Firefox information [or vice versa] and a claim this somehow made my life better. I thought I would choose what I share but the message disappeared and I have been unable to find the relevant page.
Please advise where is the page that lets me choose what I share with Mozilla / Firefox is.

OK a bit more detail. I have tried to avoid or explain jargon. Note the blue bits in the text are clickable [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperlink links] to other documents/sites

If you use the input/feedback button the information you send will be public, but that is the point of sending it.
That is were you send short comments about Firefox. More than one way of doing this:

    * the ''[Suggestion Box]'' option on some of these pages
    * or the link

[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crash_%28computing%29 Crashes] are when Firefox suddenly breaks and stops working entirely. If you are lucky it may restart again but it may continue to crash or be totally unusable.
[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_bug Bugs] in this context are the discussions by the experts fixing or modifying Firefox, often initiated by a bug report from an end user.
If you need help with your crash Mozilla needs some techie information about the crash before they can do anything about it or help you.

  • I have Movies on  my iMac that I want to share with Apple TV. How do I do that without also having them synch to my iPhone.  The movies exceed the capacity of the iPhone.

I have Movies on  my iMac that I want to share with Apple TV. I have no problem getting the movies to show up and play on Apple TV. However, when I synch my iPhone to to my iMac all of the movies try to synch to the iPhone and this exceeds the available capacity (32) of the iPhone. So the question is, how do I make the movies available on Apple TV but not synch to my iPhone?

I looked around some more on my iPhone and did find a video app. So all is well.
Thanks so much for your help!!

  • ITunes can't find photos to share on apple tv

iTunes can't find photos to share on Apple TV when photos were moved from iPhoto to the new Photos

Thanks for the suggestion Limnos but you're right that's not the answer...
iTunes Match allows 25,000 songs so I don't think apple see 20,000 as outside the design parameters.
Anyway I'll wait in hope that someone can offer a solution to the path that Finder uses for each different connection as that's where the answer lies, that or a way to change the path of the server in iTuens, but all the forums I have looked at suggest you can't do that?

  • Is there any size or file count restriction in iTunes "choose photos to share" ?

Hi, is there any size or file count restriction in iTunes "choose photos to share" ? Thanks,

    No.

  • Since updating to latest version of ITunes it won't share with Apple TV

Updated to the latest version of Itunes and now it will not share with Apple TV even though home sharing is turned on. Apple TV does everything but allow me to play from ITunes on my PC. I can use airplay on my IPhone 5 no problem. I can use all other Apple TV features except home sharing. Apple TV is saying basically that my ITunes does not have home sharing turned on? HELP!!!!!

    Hi,
Home sharing is turned on within ITunes yet apple TV says on the computer icon that: To access your ITunes library on Apple TV turn on home sharing in ITunes on your computer using (my email address)
    It is turned on?
I have so far restored Apple TV to its factory settings
    Uninstalled ITunes and reinstalled it
Tried to install an earlier version of ITunes however even that says cannot use library due to being created by a later version of ITunes.
Really not sure what to do next?
    Thanks

  • Unable to sync photos from iPhoto to Apple TV

I am using iphoto5.0.4 and am unable to sync photos. I select the photo album and click on the "apply" button which greys out for a while and then reverts. When I click on "my photos" in Apple TV I get the message that "There are no photos on your Apple TV." The ATV is able to stream photos from my Powerbook G4 just fine. When I go to "Screen Saver" on the ATV it is only able to access Apple Photos. I upgraded the ATV software without effect. What am I doing wrong?

On the tv you should have selected 'settings/computers/connect to itunes library', I think you likely selected 'settings/computers/connect to shared library'. You may have to select your current shared library and unlink it before you can set it up properly but I'm not too sure as I've not had to do it myself.

  • Ethernet wired desktop will not share with Apple TV.  Has anyone had this problem

I have an Apple TV.  It connected with my network with no problem.  Both my laptops and iPhones will share with no problem, however my desktop that is hard wired in will not show up on the Apple TV.  Can someone help please.  Apple support can't figure it out and Netgear wants to charge me for support.

I suspect the router creates seperate networks for the wired and wireless networks.
Check the router settings to confirm this.
The other thing that could be occurring is security software on the desktop blocking the connection, specifically firewall software.  Try disabling the software to see if the issue goes away.  If it does, then contact the company that supports that software to modify the settings to allow communication with the software turned on.

  • Wireless Print Share with Apple Laptop [80% visible]

I have a home pc which is running xp. Connected to that PC is a canon iP3000 photo printer. Everything works great from the PC as far as printing. I have also 2 macbooks, neither of which seem to print properly to the iP3000.
I shared the printer from the XP machine. I went to system preferences and added the printer from the macbooks, by choosing other printers, selecting MShome group, logging in and there is the printer on the list.
Problem is when it asks for the driver.
    1. generic - choose this and the data light just blinks.
    2. Canon - choose any of the ones listed [a good 20+] and it prints either stretched, or zoomed out such that you see the entire page in the top left 1/4 of the page.
    Anyone experience this?
I dont see my specific printer in the canon list, but how would i add that?
The driver is also installed locally on teh macbooks and the printer works if you plug it into them, but i want wireless sharing.
    Any advise is appreciated

It should work with the printfab printer drivers
    http://www.printfab.net/
    Note these cost.
The problem arises as the Canon Mac printer drivers will not work when you share a printer in this manner.

  • Unable to delete photos from iPad with Image Capture or PhoneView

I recently downloaded about 50GB of photos to my iPad. They are RAW+JPG. Some of the RAWs are from a new camera that does not have RAW support on the Mac yet.
Using Image Capture I downloaded all the photos to my Mac. They all have the green check-mark next to them indicating they have been downloaded.
After confirming that the images transferred without becoming corrupted, I went back to Image Capture and selected all, then hit the Delete button. I confirmed that I really want to delete them all permanently.
Then a little floating window appears that says "Deleting..." and it stays like that for a long time. Eventually Image Capture simply loses its connection with the Mac and simply leaves this console message:
    5/22/12 10:58:38.494 AM com.apple.launchd.peruser.503: ([0x0-0x91091].com.apple.PTPCamera[9744]) Exited with code: 255
Back on the iPad, I see that some of the JPEG-format photos have been deleted while the RAWs that went with them are still there. Meanwhile for many others, both the RAW & JPEG both still remain.
Any ideas what might cause this? Is it because the Mac doesn't yet have support for the RAW file and therefore doesn't recognize it as an "image" file?
