Unable to complete download for iTunes 10.6.1

I updated to 10.6.1 and suddenly it took 15 hours to download a TV show to my desktop!
Now not even apps download (error 3253) so I uninstalled iTunes and tried to install a fresh download and got a further surprise " this download cannot be read(not a windows 32 bit program)" and the download failed.
I went from an iTunes install that functioned poorly to one that, with the update, functioned not at all.
Just to add to the fun I ran the diagnostic before I uninstalled the previous copy and the internet connection was fine!
Also, updating Safari on my computer went just fine and in less than 30 seconds (FiOS).
This seems to be an escalating argument between Win7 and iTunes and I just want to it to stop.
How do I download and install the 64 bit version and get my library back with no more hassles.
I have Win7 64 bit on the desktop, my laptop (also Win7 64 bit) an iPad2 are unaffected by this problem so if you needed more proof that it's not the router set up, in addition to what the diagnostic said, there it is.
Need solution!

Yes, I am seeing that same incorrect behavior here.
Luckily, the Pandora option to buy from Amazon Digital Music is working correctly.

For anyone not thrilled with the new iTunes 11, here's the download for both PC & Mac for iTunes 10.7

For the Mac, use the blue button in the upper right corner of the web page.
For the PC use the link in blue in the main body of text.
Remember, you will need to have a backup of your itunes library, or you will have to drag & drop your content on iTunes when you get 10.7 reinstalled, which will cause iTunes to rebuild your library.

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of Safari for the download (or vice versa), do you get a .dmg installer?

No, there is no 64 bit version that will run on XP.
However if you are prepared to to some hacking, some people have got ot to work.

In the Users & Groups preference pane when I'm logged in as Admin I can select any of the other accounts that are not Admin and change their login password. Make sure that the padlock icon at the lower left is unlocked.

iTunes update 10.6.1 has been announced. When I download the latest iTunes version from the download site I get version 10.0.6.40 (already installed), not 10.6.1. Is the update really available?

I just downloaded an iTunes64Setup.exe to check. It's a 10.6.1.7.
Right-click on your iTunesSetup.exe and select "Properties". What version number is showing in your "Details" tab? For example, here's a screenshot of what I see in my installer file's details tab:

Is it me just being a pleb or has the "Download" link on the itunes/download page been swiped?
I would like to upgrade but I can't because there is nothing there other than how good itunes 7 is. Looking at the other discussions I assume that with all the problems Apple are having they have taken it off.

are any of you running Norton Internet Security 2006? if so, make sure your Norton AntiSpam Ad Blocking is switched off.
bring up your Norton Protection Center. Click Norton AntiSpam. switch Ad Blocking off.

There will be two switches, one to turn on automatic downloads of music, and the other for apps. If its available in your country then that's where you'll find it.

When I execute my download for Itunes windows comes back with the error file does not exist verify it

The following error message comes up every time I run the Itunes installer package.
"This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package."
I've tried several downloads, but they all end with the same error message.
I also resently had my hard drive cleared due to a virus, so possibly missing something?

Unable to cancel downloads in iTunes Store on iOS7?

After much searching I haven't found an answer:
I have about 20 songs in the iTunes Store trying to download from strange Apple IDs. My iPhone is prompting me for the password for 2 separate email addresses that are unfamiliar. To stop the prompts I assume I just need to cancel the attempted downloads. How can I cancel a download in the iTunes store? Swiping left to cancel/ delete doesn't seem to be a feature in iOS7 - definitely miss that. Please help! Can't find an answer that works anywhere. Thanks!
