Unable to configure the router.

I bought a router today and I'm having some trouble getting it working. Iinserted the CD and followed the on-screen installation settings including unplugging the modem/router, then plugging it back in, etc. I got to step 11 "Set the Router's Administrative Password" before I had problems. I went to set the password, but I got the message "Unable to configure router. Reset thr router to factory default settings by pressing the reset botton for 5 seconds." I reset the router, but still got the error. Using a quick search I found a similar problem and following the steps on there, pinged 192.168.1.1 with 4 replies. I connected to192.168.1.1 through my browser just fine as well, but I still can't get past step 11.

Have you configured hyour wireless settings on the router and your computer?  This has to be done.

  • Unable to access the Router's Web-Based Setup Page

Hey, I found a little problem when I tried to change the configurartions to my Linksys WRT54GS ver- 6.0 router. Problem is that I can not acces to setup, nor can I connect to Internet trough wire. Can somebody help me with my problem?
    Pasi

To view the router's web pages:
You do not need an Internet connection. The router's "web pages" are built into the router.
Use Internet Explorer, it usually works.
    JavaScript must be enabled.
Use a computer that is wired to the router.
In the non-working computer, temporarily turn off your software firewall.
Point your browser to 192.168.1.1 , then login to your router. Your user name should be left blank. Your password is "admin" (with no quotes), unless you changed it.
If you are using Zone Alarm, right click on the ZA icon in the system tray (lower right corner of screen) and then click "Shutdown ZoneAlarm", and see if this fixes your problem. If this does not work, try the following with Zone Alarm: Open the ZAISS control center, go to Privacy, then temporarily turn off Ad Blocking and Cookie Control, and see if that fixes your problem.
If you are using Noton Internet Security with the Add-on Pack, be sure to turn off the Pop-up Blocker, and the Ad blocker. Some users have reported that they needed to uninstall the entire Norton Add-on Pack.
If you cannot get anything at 192.168.1.1 then perhaps this is not your router's address. Go to "Start" > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
A black DOS box will appear. Type in "ipconfig" (with no quotes), then hit the Enter key. Look at the "Default Gateway". Is it 192.168.1.1 ? Point your browser to the "Default Gateway", then login to your router.
If the above fails, disconnect your modem from the router, and try again. If this corrects your problem, then most likely you have a "modem-router" rather than an ordinary modem. Report back with this problem, and also state the make and exact model number of your modem (not the router).
If all of the above fails, power down your entire system, unplug it from the wall, wait one minute, then power up and try again.
If all of the above tips fail, then reset the router to factory defaults: Power down the router and disconnect all wires from it. Wait one minute. Power up the router, allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes), then press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release the button and allow the router to reset and reboot ( 2-3 minutes). Power down router. Wait one minute. Connect one computer, by wire, to a LAN port on the router. Boot up system. It should work.
If the reset does not fix your system, then you need to download and install (or re-install) the latest firmware for your router. After the firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.

  • How to configure the router using Expand box?

I need help on configuring the Cisco routers.
    Here's the scenario...
I want to compress as much all packets COMING IN to our network to optimize the bandwidth. When users from Lan accessing the internet, it goes out to our GW1 but I want the RETURN internet packets will go first to Expand 2 for compression then goes to Expand1 for decompression. Please see attached network diagram setup. All Expand appliances are already configured. Thanks.
What configuration should be in GW1 and R2, both C2851?

    Hi Daniel,
I configure it as PBR so that all www traffic will be pass to that tunnel. I want all www traffic from Area 1 to Area 2 (vice versa) will pass to IPComp Tunnel (see diagram below). I configure a policy based routing in each router. Did I miss something in router configuration? Did I apply the PBR in right interfaces? How can I configure also the returned www traffic in Router 2? I really appreciate for any response. Thank you.

  • TS1398 My ipad mini does not connect to certain routers, apple's advise is to configure the router. But I bought the Ipad mini to travel and wish to connect to hotspots worldwide! what to do?

    Hi there,
I just bought an ipad mini, but have problems connecting to some hotspots/routers. while my other normal ipad connects everywhere!! I cannot configure these routers at these hotspots. So what to do?
hope someone can help me out.
    Warm regards,
    Moon

    hi Timothy,
i have googled this issue, and it seems that a lot of people had the same problem with the ipad mini and they all got replacements. however I live in Curaçao and I also have applecare for this product. Where do I send it to to get a replacement. I have another Ipad, which doesn't have any connection problem at all at none of the hotspots. So it must be de ipad mini. I bought it in London UK a couple of weeks ago!
It really is not an option to have to configure routers at hotspots wherever I travel. And I did not buy it to use only at home!

  • Unable to connect to the router! (wrt54g v. 2)

I just got a router from a garage sale; it was still in the box and everything.
Well, I tried hooking it up to my modem and computer to get wifi, but I can't get it to work.
    This is the setup:
    modem -> router -> computer
I can access the internet when the setup is this way, but there's no wifi, and I can't access 192.168.1.1 or set it up using the CD it came with. When I go through the setting up process with the CD, I get this error message that says "Unable to connect to router! Check that the router has been connected to the computer, and that you're ethernet adapter is working."
When I try to go to 192.168.1.1, it says "The connection has timed out." I can't ping it either.
I've also tried resetting it several times, but that doesn't do anything.
    Someone please help!

Hi sylentknight and welcome to the forums!
You said that you are able to connect to the internet with this set-up: modem -> router -> computer right? So does that mean that you can ping the router when it is connected directly to your computer? Reason why I'm asking is if it does work, you can try to configure the router for the wireless settings while it is directly connected to the router first then try to go wireless. Please let me know if understood your post correctly.

  • WRT54G: Unable to connect to the Router!

I have set up my router exactly as told in the setup wizard, but when I get to step 8, I encounter a problem and I get the following error message:
Unable to connect to the Router!
Check that your Router has been connected to the computer, and that your Ethernet adapter is working!
Oddly, my wired internet works just fine through the router, but my wireless doesn't because I can't complete the setup. All the lights that are supposed to be on are on and not blinking or anything.
What do I need to do to fix this?

you can actualy configure the router without using a setup cd.. you can try accessing the router setup page using your working computer that is wired to the router. just go to internet exp. type 192.168.1.1 on the address box.. it will ask for password- just type admin. go to the wireless menu - change the ssid to any name that you want to name your network. try to view wireless networks on your wireless pc and check if you can see the name that you set. connect to it..
you can check if it works.

  • Installing wireless router, router works fine but can't configure the modem

I'm configuring a wireless network for my parents, and I can't seem to get it set up right on my parents desktop with Windows XP SP2.
I bought a Linksys wireless router (WRT54GT) to set up a home network, and set that up quickly. It's not having any problems, but I can't set the modem into bridge mode. I'm connecting to DSL using a Westell Wirespeed modem (C90-36R516-01) that is pretty old, but I don't see why there is a problem. I went to the IP 192.168.1.1 in my browser while connected to only the modem to configure it, but the server always times out. When I plug in the router, it goes easily to the Linksys' configuration panel.
The only thing I can think of it that I configured the router before switching to bridge mode.
I tried getting around this problem by configuring the router to dial Verizon automatically using PPoE, but I don't know if it's actually working correctly, and it still asks me to dial up when I start Firefox. Other computers on the network see the router, but don't connect to the internet.

One thing you should do is get rid of that Westell modem from verizon.  Its junk.  I replaced it with a DLink DSL modem and internet is faster.  Not that this suggestion solves your problem.

  • Configuring the Transportation Connection Point in defining Routes

    Dear Friends,
I have to configure the Route Determination for two customers:
    The Route follows like this:
    Route-01:  Norfolk--> Chicago---> Cleveland
    Route-01:  Norfolk--> Chicago---> Denver
I have configured everything except I am confusing in configuring “Transportation Connection Point”. This Trans. Connection Point is used for Load Transfer point.
In Trans. Connection Point there two Tabs called “Reference Customer/Vendor”  wherein I can give the number of the customer so that while creating Sales Order the Route will come automatically. and Reference Shpng.pnt/Plant.
For the creating of Transportation Connection Point at Cleveland and Denver I don’t face any problem as in both the cases only one customer is there because of two different customers.
But in the case of Chicago and Norfolk how can I give both the customer numbers so that while creating Sales Order the Route should appear automatically.
Could anybody explain which factor triggers the Route to appear automatically while creating the Sales Order?
I have to use these Transportation Connection Point in defing the "Route Stages".
I will be thankful to all of you,
    Thanks in advance,
    Jans

  • Internet connection is fine, but my laptop no longer recognizes the router (WRT54G)

I discovered this problem while trying to add a wired PC to my router. Even though I connected, disconnected, and reconnected my laptop multiple times, it was unable to recognize the router (WRT54G). This has not always been a problem, since I set up the initial wireless connection and later an Xbox Live connection, but that was over six months ago. There's no obvious physical damage to the router or my laptop, neither has been dropped recently or anything like that.
    Any help is appreciated.

Well, 2 quick things. Try a cable from one of the working systems on the laptop. Also check your local area network connection (Start Menu, Connect to, -> Local area network, right click, properties, scroll down to "TCP/IP") and make sure it is set to "Obtain IP Address automatically, and "Obtain DNS Automatically". I have had nothing but trouble with the setup CD's.

  • Configuring WRT160n router to maximize range and speed

I have just bought and installed a WRTn160 router. I used the default configuration settings. Unfortunately, I realized that on my second floor, one computer (g) did not pick up the signal and the other computer (n) was extremely slow. On the contrary my old LinkSys (b) router worked just fine with both machines. I then changed the 'Wide' channel to 20MHz and used channel 6 (the default was 'Auto'). This improved the speed on the second floor considerably. My questions are:
1- How do I know if the computer supporting 802.11n is actually using it? The manual indicates that 20MHz is for b/g only.
2-  If this configuration is supporting b/g only, how can I configure the router to support (n) computer while still supporting the (g) computer and maintaining range and speed?
3- How can I test for bandwidth between my desktop and the two other wireless computers? Currently, I only test bandwidth using my ISP. Needless to say, this is limited to bandwidth for Internet connectivity.
4- Advertisement for n routers indicate increased speed and range. This has not been my experience, in fact to the contrary, range dramatically shrunk. Is this limited range a configuration issue? a WRT160n router issue? or a limitation with the technology (802.11n)?

I would suggest you to readjust the wireless settings of the router...
On the setup page, click on the Wireless tab,Change the channel to 11 and click on save settings..Under Wireless tab, click on Advance Wireless Settings tab and Change N document.write("Transmission Rate")Transmission Rate to 15-130Mbps, Change the Beacon Interval to 75, Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on save settings... Under Security tab, uncheck " document.write("Filter Anonymous Internet Requests")Filter Anonymous Internet Requests"...Power cycle the network and check the result.

  • After upgrading my WRT160N firmware, I cant access the router at all.!!

After upgrading I cant access the router at all.!!
I just upgraded the firmware to WRT160Nv2_v2.0.03.007_US_code.bin from a download.
I had the CD ver 2.00.2 build 8 on it originally. I upgraded because the router would have the DNS problems everyone is talking about both wireless and wired. I tried the all zeros 0.0.0.0 and that did not work.
Now that I upgraded, I cant get into the box at all. I dont get the log in screen. I have reset multiple times and power cycled through. The ip I am trying to get back in is 192.168.1.1
How can I get this box to respond?

Are you able to ping 192.168.1.1 from the wired computer...?
Unplug the modem from the router,hard-reset the router for 1 minute, power cycle the router...Make sure that the computer is connected to the router on the Ethernet port...Now,Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt...A black box will appear(Command Prompt)...In the Command Prompt window type ipconfig and press 'Enter'...Look for Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection IP Address , Subnet Mask and Default Gateway...
IP Address should be 192.168.1.x, Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1......If you get the above mentioned IP Address, Subnet and Gateway Address then you should ping the Gateway, type ping 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...If it gives you request timed out then disable any firewalls, security software on the computer...
If you get 4 replies then,go to start>>>run>>>and type "//192.168.1.1" and hit enter..If you are able to open the linksys setup page then, connect the modem to the router on the internet port and configure the router as per the ISP settings.

  • The Response Group application was unable to transfer the call to the configured destination and no fallback exists

    Hey,
I get this error message when calling into an unassigned number which redirects to a response group:
    From user URI:
    sip:[email protected];gruu;opaque=srvr:Microsoft.Rtc.Applications.Acd:RS6nRGV9DlmpNsLtmz5qeQAA
    To user URI:
    0220198611;phone-context=DefaultProfile
    From user agent:
    RTCC/4.0.0.0 Response_Group_Service Announcement_Service
    Diagnostic header:
26005; reason="The Response Group application was unable to transfer the call to the configured destination and no fallback exists."
Interestingly "To user URI: 0220198611;phone-context=DefaultProfile" is the number off the caller not the destination. I wonder is this a bug? So is the response group trying to transfer to this number and failing because of course it doesnt exist?
As you can see the below the number I am calling is not 0220198611:
    From phone number: 0220198611;phone-context=DefaultProfile
To phone number: +6493760053 From mediation server: onzlyncfe1.domain.co.nz To mediation server: From gateway: 192.168.100.70
    To gateway:
    Disconnected by: +6493760053
Does the calling party's number have to be normalised? If so how can I do this because the global normailisation rules dont seem to apply
in this situation. These rules do work when when calling into a users DDI.
    Also to be clear....
+6493760053 is an unassigned number which is setup to redirect to a response group.
If I assign +6493760053 to a user then it works.
Additionally this works perfectly when the gateway sends the call to our legacy 2007r2 mediation server then on to Lync. If the gateway sends the call directly to the co-located Lync mediation server I get the error described.
I hope I make sense. If you are confused let me know :)
    Help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi ANdrew
Kindly advise how you transfered the unassigned numbers to a specific user, i used the below command but it failled, the message displayed but the call never routed:
New-CsAnnouncement -Parent service:ApplicationServer:LyncFE.squareone.local -Name "SQ unassigned number announcement" -TextToSpeechPrompt "You entered an invalid extinsion you will be forwarded to the operator" -Language "en-US" -TargetUri "sip:[email protected];user=phone"
While [email protected] is the sip uri in my lync for the operator
could you advise what is my issue?
