Unable to connect and other mysteries
I am running 10.5.6 on MacbookPro - I am having the following problems
* Safari - "Safari could not open the page “http://livepage.apple.com/” because the server is not responding." - Firefox is working fine
* Mail - Connection status - "Mail was able to connect to internet" BUT for every mail account I get "could not connect to server message".
* iChat - works fine
What is going on?
I think I'm experiencing the same issue.
My MacBook Pro has been running smoothly for the last year. I don't think any mail settings have been changed or altered in the past six months. This morning I retrieved email from seven mailboxes associated with the same account. But, this afternoon, every time I selected "check mail" another mailbox would fall offline and request I enter the password info.
Despite running disk utility (verify disk permissions & repair disk permissions) and re-entering the password account info in the mail preferences, the problem is still persisting.
Definitely, bizarre behavior.

Try the following to rule out a software problem:

If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Can't delete or edit a Mail account that is unable to connect and it keeps notifying me
Can't delete or edit a Mail account that is unable to connect and it keeps notifying me and asking for password. Macbook Pro with Yosemite. If I highlight the account and go to Mailboxes, "Edit smart mailbox" is greyed out. Delete the mailbox is an option, but the mailbox just doesn't go away and no error message displayed. Tried Mail/Preferences/Accounts, highlighting account and using minus sign, it tells me the account is shared by other applications and gives me an option to go to Internet Accounts. At Internet Accounts, the only mail account showing is iCloud. Meanwhile, the pesky Mail icon is jumping around the bottom of my screen.
Can anyone help?Did you ever find a fix for this? Mine is doing exactly the same thing, even with 2.01 - I hoped that might fix it. I'd rather not have to reset and erase the whole phone.

My Firefox automatically updated to Firefox 8. Since doing so, when I open the browser the screen displays a box saying 'Unable to connect' and says the same for any website. My internet connection is fine. I uninstalled and installed Firefox again, but problem persists. Please help as this is really frustrating me :(

I have tried to do all of the tips that you have on your website for troubleshooting and nothing seems to work. I know it is not my Internet connection because my roommates can get on Firefox without a problem and my Internet Explorer opens just fine.

If your iPad is defective and is still under warranty, you can take it to an Apple Authorized Repair Center and get it fixed. If you are worried about a defective replacement, then a repair may be a better way to go. <Apple Authorized Repair Centers>
Personally, I would prefer getting a replacement. You read about many defects here in this forum, but they only represent a tiny percentage of all iPads sold.

IP Printing Issue -- Unable to connect and print
I'm trying to print to a network printer that's connected by cable to my wireless router using IPP. The error message reads "Unable to connect to IPP host." The IP address I used for the printer was obtained from the printer test page. I also specified "generic postscipt printer" in the printer setup utility window. My printer and network info as follows:
Printer -- HP LaserJet 4MV
Router -- Linksys Wireless G
Computer -- Powerbook G4, OSX.4
I've reset the printers in the Printer Utility to use the latest version driver for the HP. I can browse using my PBk so my wireless connection is working (in fact the PBk is in the same room as the router). Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.I don't have a manual for the printer and I'm not aware of a print server being included in the hardware. The printer is simply a HP LaserJet 4MV which has a I/O card installed with local talk, 10Base-T, parellel, and BNC connections. I'm using the 10Base-T connection to my router.
On the test page printout, it lists several things one of which is "Server Name" but it's blank with no entry. Under the heading "Mode" the entry reads "Queue Server." Don't know if any of this is relevant. -

Have been using Firefox for a number of years. About two weeks when I attempted to access a bookmark through Mozilla I got an unable to connect. Have tried multiple things including removing and reinstalling several times. Each time I attempt to got to a site I receive a "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.X. I'm offered choices to retry; check network connection or check Firewall or proxy and make sure Firefox is permitted access to the Web.
To the best of my knowledge I made no changes to the access. I am able to reach the internet via internet explorer and can reach the sites that Firefox is denied. I've tried playing with the internet connection settings but to no avail.I, too, have used Mozilla/Firefox for yrs and like it very much. After some security issues and my security company worked on the issues, Mozilla/Firefox disappeared from my screen. I'm getting the following when I try to download:

For the last 2 days I have been working on this and I am completely stuck.
This morning I thought of another way to test the 'unable to connect' error.
I decided to copy this same file into Netbeans IDE and I NOW get the same Error Message ' Unable to Connect'
when running index.php from Netbeans.
Somehow, my settings are not correctly configured anymore.
Here are my screenshots from Dreamweaver > manage sites.
I believe that this is a rather simple fix that I am somehow not seeing.
Maybe some can spot some mistake.

I started writing .php scripts with Netbeans IDE.
The programs ran: I got output in the brower. Things worked just fine !
I started writing .php scripts with DreamweaverCC.
The programs NEVER ran.

QUESTION.
At one point I was on the phone with a member of the Adobe Technical Support Team.
They connect to my desktop (only) remotely. I am very cautious about this.
Could something have been inadvertently changed when they did this ?
They do need to connect through a PORT - yes ?
This is very frustrating and I am loosing days of work.
I want to get back to Web Development
I love Adobe products but this should not be such a huge obstacle.
When I called Technical support (after much troubleshooting individually and on this forum)
the fellow told me that the ONLY support FTP - not LOCALHOST.
This makes no sense. People develop 'locally' then put it ftp it in the production stage.

Unable to connect to other computers (or devices attached) on my LAN
I have recently installed Aireport Extreme as a wireless device connected to Verizon Internet gateway. I have two computers (one window and other vista) and i can connect to internet from each computer. But i am unable to share files or printers as i can't see the other computer when i enter the IP address - windows comes back with unable to find message. I had no problem sharing files or printers on other computers on the LAN with Linksys router. is there a setting in the config that is incorrect. Appreciate response!!
Check that the computers are part of the same network. I am not familar with the AE Extreme so I am assuming that it is discoverable. I would also check that the properties for your Desktop WiFi Adapters have both Discovery Driver, Discovery Mapper, and Discovery Responder checked. Also a good idea to see if the Router has issued a IP licence to these computers. Solutions are simply a process of elimination. On the router there may be a setting that switches LAN Ping OFF and if that is the case computers on your network will not respond to a Ping.

Unable to Connect to Other Computers on Network
We have a small network of 4 Macs and suddenly one of our computers cannot connect to other computers on the network. We have file sharing turned on all the Macs, and the other computers can connect to this G4 733 DA, but the G4 DA can "see" the other computers, but when I try to connect I get the message that the connection failed.
Is there any solution other than reloading Tiger? In system 9 it was simple to just reload the networking extension if it was damaged, but I am not sure for what to search to fix this problem.
G4/1GHz, 7600 w/G3/500 MHz , G4/733 MHz Server Mac OS X (10.4.4)Since all the computers are "seeing" each other, I would try to do a "Repair Permissions" from the Disk Utility on the G4 DA...and, if that doesn't help, try the "Repair Disk" option before reloading Tiger. Sometimes, when OS X can't access system files properly, you see "strange" errors like these.
