Unable to fill in fillable form Adobe Reader XI

We are migrating users in our Virtual Environment (Citrix Xendesktop) from Windows XP to Windows 7. We have a form that our HR department has been using with no issues on the XP Citrix Image but after being converted to Windows 7 the form will not allow you to fill it in. It Displays the purple bar at the top and the highlight fields is selected but when you click on one of the fields it does not allow you to type anything.
I have turned off Protected Mode since that is something I saw  in another post.

What Reader version are you using?  If less than 11.0.06, update to this version.

how do I allow a user to save a filled in fillable form in reader?
I created a form in livecycle and i want other users that i send it to, to be able to save that they have typed.

    Hi,
Try reader extending the form.  Opening the form in Acrobat and then do File ... Save As Other ... Reader Extended PDF ... Enable more tools (includes form fill-in and save).
That's for Acrobat XI, it's different for other versions, might be under tools in earlier ones.

  • Signing Not Allowed after Enable Forms Fill-In & Save in Adobe Reader

When using Adobe Acrobat X Standard and creating a fillable form that uses digital signature, selecting
File / Save As / Reader Extended PDF /
Enable Forms Fill-In & Save in Adobe Reader
changes the security for Signing to Not Allowed.

    Enable Additional Features
does not change the security for Signing to Not Allowed.
Is there a way I can use Standard so users can use digital signatures in Adobe Reader?

  • Is it possible to add text to a non-fillable form using Reader DC?

TLDR: Can I add text to a form (e.g., fill it out) using Adobe Reader DC on Windows, or can that only be done with "fillable" forms?  If so, how?
I'm attempting to fill out a fairly lengthy "paper" form.  The form is not a fillable form, it is a government form that is downloadable for printing but for whatever reason the government agency chose not to enable the "fillable" feature.
On my Mac, I can just use the "text box" tool in the Preview app to add all of the text that I need to complete this form.
On Adobe Reader DC, which is installed on my Work PC running Windows 8, nothing happens when I click the "fill and sign" button and the features displayed in the online tutorial simply don't show up.  There's no text tool.  I just see the "hand" icon.  When I right-click, I get an option for the Select tool, which enables me to select text, but doesn't allow me to add a text box.  The web tutorial says there should be a menu somewhere with an icon to add a text box, but that icon is just straight up missing.
I am very confused by this software.  I am not an idiot with computers; but I am a bit old, and I'm more used to keyboards, toolbars, and windows than this "pane" based touch-oriented approach.  The toolbar up top seems to be limited to a "pane selector" between Home, Tools (which just reveals a panel of icons most of which are links to cloud services that I don't want), an then a few file handling icons.  On the right there is a little panel that says "get started" and offers only two clickable functions, "Send & Track" and "Get Others to Sign" neither of which reveals any text tools.
Now, the answer to my question very well may be "no" which is fine, I'll just keep using my Mac for the task since I know that it works, but I'd really like to be able to leave my personal computer and get everything done within Windows.  Surely this isn't one of those things that can only be done on a Mac or with expensive third-party software on a PC.  But the web seems to insist that this is a thing that should be both possible and simple.  Is it?

The only Flash Player that is remotely connected to Adobe Reader is the plugin.
Can you temporarily uninstall the plugin (or both ActiveX and plugin using http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html and see if the problem disappears?

  • Unable to open PDF files or Adobe Reader

I am unable to opern adobe reader or download a ner version of adobe reader.

Apparently the original software download was corrupt.  I tried to
"change" it through the add and delete software area of Windows, and  re-installed
the software.  That seemed to work.  Debating on whether  to upgrade to one
of their other products.  I could certainly use  fillable forms, signature,
    and modifiable documents.
    Thank you for responding.

  • Is there a way to save a fillable form (in Reader) as a static (uneditiable) image and send it for signature without the recipient being able to revise the fields at all?

Is there a way to save a fillable form (in Reader) as a static (uneditiable) image and send it for signature without the recipient being able to revise the fields at all? I have designed a number of fillable forms and sent them to our clients as Reader extended pdfs to be filled out and sent back. Now, certain clients want to be able to fill in the fields and save the doc as a pdf that can't be tampered with so that they can send it to their own people for signature to be returned to them hand-signed and scanned via email.
Since the forms have been secured, and my cleints are only using the free Acrobat Reader, how can they save the filled in form as a static pdf to send on for signature? They do not want to have to print, scan and email. Is there an app, plug-in, simple solution to this?
    Thank you,
    Rumor

The signature WILL work! I've just looked into it more, thank you so much for pointing me in that direction.
I get it now, it locks the form fields in place after my coworker fills them in and signs it (as the very last step).
I wish I would have asked on here a full day ago. Would have saved a lot of headache and Googling.
    Thanks again.

  • I am unable to use Highlight Tool in Adobe Reader X. Please suggest me solutions.

I am unable to use Highlight Tool in Adobe Reader X. Please suggest me solutions.

    Hi -graffiti
Thank you again for your 10.24 post.  I tried your suggestions today.  The university computer lab i use has Adobe Acrobat Pro 6.  The OCR function is under the dropdown menu "Documents>>Paper Capture".  This permits conversion a scanned page to searchable text.  Before beginning it asks you to select 1 of 2 Settings defined as:  "Primary OCR Language English", or "PDF Output Style:  Searchable Image (Exact)".  That is the only choice to be made before conversion begins.  After the conversion you can review and correct suspect words on captured pages.  I tried both choices and regardless of which ended up with a document that was searchable, but still would not permit highlighting (I selected text with the highlight tool, clicked and dragged over a captured page, and nothing happened, same result as my earlier post).  If I search for a particular word, all occurrences become shade-highlighted but if I expressly attempt to highlight a word with the highlighter it won't do it.
Do you have any suggestions as to how I might further massage the data?

  • How to create form in LC to fill and save by Adobe Reader ?

    Hi there,
please advise me, how I should do form in LifeCycle. I would like to send by e-mail this form, and I would like to be able to open it, fill and save customers by use of the basic Adobe Reader.
Importantly, the recipient must be able to stop filling it in half and send it on, say, or return to it after a time. When it comes to functions in the same form it is about marked fields, enter text and add files (as attachments).
Do you have any ideas? Suggestions?
    Best regards,
    Piotr

You may want to go through this blog http://blogs.adobe.com/livecycle/2013/05/understanding-reader-extensions-licensing.html
Your usecase can be achieved by using calculations and scripts in LiveCycle Designer created form and using Reader Extensions but go through above blog for licesing as to which product is better for your usecase.

  • Forms--Reader users unable to fill in "enabled" form.

I created and enabled several PDF fill-in forms in Acrobat X. Just recently associates are telling me that they're getting the following error message:
"This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document."
This has never been an issue previously. Does anyone have an explanation why this is happening now and how to fix it? Thanks!

It can be difficult to nail down a specific cause for this. When a document is Reader-enabled, it is signed with a digital signature that is used to detect if any changes have been made that are not allowed. So if a document changes in a way that's not allowed, it will fail validation and Acrobat/Reader won't allow any other changes and yo get the message you see. You will also get that message if the system clock of the user's computer is incorrect and it's set to a time before the time that the document was enabled.
Documents can get changed for a number of reasons, including when transmitted via email or FTP, or when there's a problem with the file (e.g., fonts) and Acrobat/Reader attempts to correct it. Without seeing a before and after file and doing a detailed analysis, it's impossible be more specific. You might want to see if re-sending the original and having them use it makes any difference.

  • Unable to fill in PDF form

I am downloading a PDF form which must be filled in and printed but it doesn't work on all computers. I am using Adobe Reader 8.1.2 and Windows XP. On some computers this works fine and on others the text boxes are highlighted but don't allow information to be typed in. Does anyone have an idea on why it works on some computers and not on others and how I can fix this issue?

If you want to fill your forms online you should make them "fillable" first. Usually it means that you need to download a particular software. But there is a way to avoid it. I use pdffiller.com to fill my forms online. It`s much faster and easier.

  • Save Fillable Forms on Reader

    Hello,
I am having difficulties with forms for Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader X. I created a form on word document and exported it to PDF and make the form fillable. If I open the form with Acrobat i can fill the form and save it on my computer. If i open the form with Reader the form can be filled in but cannot save. I need to send this form out to my clients so that they can fill it out and save it and then send back to me. Does anyone have a solution for this problem? Is using Acrobat the only solution to save the form? Please confirm. Thank You.

Oh and, be sure to reader section 15.12.3 of the Acrobat End User License Agreement. There are limitations of use to enabled forms. You'll want to stay within those limits. If you need to exceed those limits, they offer a very expensive server side product that you can use.
