Unable to import D300 NEF files

I am trying to import pix from Nikon D300. All shot in RAW format. iphoto 8 opens up and shows me thumbnails but is unable to import any pictures. I am assuming the iPhoto 8 is not updated for new cameras. is that correct? How long will it take for iPhoto to support D300?
Thanks.

hope the 10.5.2. solve this

  • Aperture 3.1 import weirdness - D300 NEF files

Here's a weird one. Since the update to Aperture 3.1 and iLife 11, I am unable to import Nikon D300 NEF files directly from CF card to Aperture. Aperture does not view the NEFs, but iLife 11 does, and can import them without any problems.
The funkiest thing is that if I import the NEFs in iPhoto, I can then import the iPhoto library in Aperture, no problem. However, since I can only import the entire iPhoto library, this isn't a functional workaround. I posted the bug to the Aperture support staff, waiting for an answer.

Yep...unfortunately not very much help from me too. I have upgraded to iLife 11, Aperture 3.1 and 10.6.5. I have no problem importing D300 NEF in Aperture but I don't use iPhoto at all.
Maybe try to repair library permission by pressing ALT + CMD when opening Aperture and repair permissions via Disk Utility...

  • Downloaded, unzipped, installed latest Camera Raw, but still cannot view D300 NEF files

    Hello,
I have CS3 running on a 32-bit Windows Vista computer. I downloaded the latest Camera Raw plug-in, unzipped it, and installed it, but I still cannot view my Nikon D300 NEF files. I have made sure that I only have the one plug-in mentioned. I went to CS3 Bridge and made sure that Raw is enabled in Preferences. Anyone got any ideas?
BTW, don't know if it matters, but I use Irfanview as my regular picture viewer.
    Thanks,
    John

    John,
Please excuse my inexperience, but I, too, am having a difficult time with this issue.  I am trying to view RAW images on CS3 from a D300 Nikon camera.  My D70 images are fine in CS3, but not the D300 images.  I have downloaded and downloaded ACR 4.6 and made sure it is in the path you suggested, but I am getting the same message, "file is not the correct type."  I have Windows 7 on a HP desktop computer.  I am also receiving an error message when I open Bridge, which tells me, more or less, that Bridge is not compatible with the OS on the HP.  Don't know what else to do...

  • Camera raw 7.4 will not open the D800 NEF Raw files. D300 NEF files open OK

Camera raw 7.4  will not open the compatible D800 NEF Raw files (Win7). D300 NEF files open OK.
I seem to remember seeing an article that stated i would have to uninstall and re-install CS6 Photoshop completely and re-install again. However I cannot find this article now.
If the above is true, having PS version CS4 with update CS5 & 6 installed, would i have to remove all PS versions.
Photoshop error message just states download latetest software version, which i have done with ACR 7.4 nd ACR 8 which did not open file either.
Adobe DNG runs OK but i would rather deal with the original file in ACR rather than adding an additional step with more files to keep track of.
Is there a way of uninstalling all versions of ACR, cleaning system and re-installing ACR, assuming the fault lies with ACR?
    Anyone have any answers?

(Appologies for spelling errors but my keyboar hs just packed up). Now on  screen keyboard.
Half an hour after posting this query (In the wrong forum -  Downloading, Installing, Setting Up) I resolved the issue. The fault lies with Nikon Transfer.
Nikon Transfer corrupts the D800 NEF files. Apparently Nikon Transfer is well known for causing errors.
Drag & dropping the files direct from the cameras memory card onto your hard drive and everything works fine.
Nikon Transfer has now been assigned to the dust bin!

  • Renderfarm error: Pre-Flight Error: Unable to import previously rendered file

I have an error message I am receiving during network rendering on a  renderfarm, and was hoping for some help. The error is this: "Pre-Flight  Error: Unable to import previously rendered file."
Here is my setup and some details:
The user makes a comp, and adds it to the render queue set to render as a  quicktime movie file. Then they run a script which precomps everything  and sets it to render as a image sequence with "Skip existing files"  checked. This comp also has a post-render action set to import &  replace usage. After this comp is rendered, it gets pulled back into the  project and the original render item starts rendering the movie file  using the previously rendered image sequence as it's only layer.
This project gets saved to a server where our render nodes are watching  the folder. All the render nodes pick up the project and proceed to  render the image sequence. Then, after they are done, 1 machine will  pick up the second render item and begin rendering the image sequence  into the final quicktime movie.
All of this goes smoothly about 90% of the time. However, in some cases  an error shows up in the watch folder html page for the 2nd render item  (the one converting the image sequence to the movie). The error says  "Pre-Flight Error: Unable to import previously rendered file." After the  error occurs, no machines will start rendering the project.
My first guess is that the render engine on one machine somehow skips  rendering the image sequence comp, and then tries to render the  quicktime movie comp and fails because the image sequence has not yet  been rendered. However, I can't figure out why After Effects would skip  rendering the first comp.
    Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks for the help, and let me know if you have any more questions about the setup,
    Adam

Well, you should get used to the fact that it's simply gone... Just looking at your screenshot makes me grind my teeth. From delayed writing of files to fragmentation in user folders to Windows doing obscure things this could be anything, but seriously, saving important files on the desktop? That is simply sloppy data management. There is no other way to say it. Read up on what proper file naming, incremental saving and backups are good for and why keeping work files separate and away from your user home directories is actually a quite simple, yet effective concept to avoid exactly that kind of issue.

  • So I updated to lightroom 3.6-now i cannot import any .nef files?

so I updated to lightroom 3.6-now i cannot import any .nef files? is that what you call progress?

    Hi,
I'm not sure why you think Lightroom 3 will support the D610 as it was only announced on October 8, 2013. Support for the D610 was released in the Lightroom 5.3 RC, see Lightroom 5.3 RC now available on Adobe Labs
If you wish to use you D610 files in Lightroom 3.6 you will need to download the Adobe DNG Converter, convert your NEF to DNG and then import into Lightroom 3.6. The DNG Converter can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Windows
Or, better option is to upgrade to the current version of Lightroom

  • Unable to import certain image files in CS5

I currently am using CS5, and I am unable to import certain image files such as .png and.tga. When I try to import them I get an error message saying something along the lines of file type not supported. Any help?

Make sure that the images are not CMYK color space.
    Already tried that, thanks
One thing to take note of is everytime I start AE I get a pop up box saying "You have at least one output module template that refers to a missing plug-in. Please check your Output Module Template". That plug-in would be the TIIFF alpha sequence output. Perhaps  that has something to do with it..

  • Unable to import DWG CAD files to WCS

    Hi all,
I am trying to import a DWG CAD file to my WCS 4.2.62.0 for a floor area. Everything I read says I can import DWG CAD files (as well as gif, jpeg, and png) for Floor Areas but I am unable to do so. I get the following error message:
The image file is invalid. GIF, JPEG, and PNG files are acceptable image types for campuses and outdoor areas. DXF and DWG CAD files are acceptable in addition to GIF, JPEG, and PNG for Floor Areas.
Any ideas on why I am unable to import a DWG file as a floor area?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi MH, thanks for your response. Here are some links to the literature I was referring to.
This is the WCS Configuration Guide, release 4.2:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6305/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00808e525f.html#wp1125793
This is the WCS Release Notes for WCS version 4.2.62.0. It appears that support for AutoCAD files is a new feature in this release:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/wcs/release/notes/WCSRN4_2.html#wp44484
I hope those links work ok for you. I'll have to take a look at this Trapeze/Nortel 'RingMaster' (it is a great name).

  • Elements 11 import of NEF files fails

I've been using Elements for some time and importing NEF files from my Nikon D7100. I have Camera Raw 7.4 installed.  When I try to import new NEF files, it get's about 95% done and it says Import Failed. Nothing was imported.  The fields or files selected to import did not contain any supported file types, or the files are already in the catalog.
They are not in the catalog.  What is all of a sudden wrong?
Any help you can provide would be geatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Thank you, Jim,
this was what I expexted. I misread the List provided by Adobe
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
by (wishfully) slipping to the next row which read 3.6 for Lightroom version.
Actually the list gives the correct information

According to the list published by Adobe, that camera was not supported until Lightroom 5.3. I don't know where you got information to the contrary. You'll either have to upgrade or use the DNG converter.

  • I need help! when I am importing my NEF files from my D3300 camera into lightroom 5 and try to use the "copy as DNG" button I always get an error message saying that "saying the file is not recognized by the raw format support"

I need help! when I am importing my NEF Raw files from my D3300 camera into lightroom 5 and try to use the "copy as DNG" button I always get an error message saying that "saying the file is not recognized by the raw format support". The whole purpose of that button is so that the file can be recognized... How can I make the "copy as DNG" button work as it is supposed too?? Thank you

Thank you for responding. So I essentially will never be able to use that button in lightroom 5? do I need to get LR 6? Will there ever be an update for LR 5 that will enable me to use it?
Does DNG Converter work within LR or do I have to upload pictures to my computer and then make a second copy in DNG format. and then go into LR and use them?
    Thank you @dj_paige

  • Some Nikon D300 NEF files don't appear in Bridge CS3 (Mac)

    Hi all,
I'm using a Nikon D300 and just upgraded to CS3 on my MAC in no small part because the D300 was not supported by CS2. I am running into a problem though.
I always shoot in both JPEG and RAW modes. When I open Bridge I always see each JPEG version of a shot.
However, only about 50% of the time can I see the NEF (RAW) version of the thumbnail. The rest of the time I only see a generic "RAW" thumbnail with no image. This sporadic NEF viewability carries over to the preview pane when I select such a NEF file.
Furthermore, Camera Raw cannot open the NEF files that are not visible in Bridge. When I try opening them I get a message saying "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this file type."
I have tried purging the Cache (through Tools) as some indicated in other forums threads but this has not helped. I have also downloaded the ACR 4.4 plugin and installed it in the correct library location.
Has anyone else experienced this (whether on a Nikon or other camera)? Any advice?
    Thanks

I've finally solved the problem with having only some of my NikonD300 NEF files viewable in Bridge/readable by Photoshop! Jon Michael Riley had said he was having similar problems so I wanted to make sure he and anyone else has the info on what worked for me.
The issue does not have anything to do with purging the thumbnail cache or installing the latest version of Camera RAW 4.4.1. While they were good suggestions (offered by Adobe's Technical support people also), they do not resolve this particular issue.
I read that an earlier version of what Jon described as "Nikon's clunky software" had corruption issues when images were first transfered from the camera via Nikon PictureProject Transfer. It looks like the latest incarnation has the same issues. Nikon products can see the transfered images without a problem. HOWEVER, Adobe Bridge/Photoshop cannot rectify the corruption issue caused by transferring photos using Nikon's utility.
So here's the solution: DO NOT use Nikon PictureProject Transfer! It is a piece of garbage! Instead, make ADOBE PHOTO DOWNLOADER the default tool to transfer images from the camera. To make it default do the following:
Open Bridge, pull down the Bridge CS3 Preferences. Select the "General" preferences set. On this screen you will see "Behavior". The first clickable box reads "When a camera is connected launch Adobe Photo Downloader". Select this box to render this the default transfer tool.
If you still have the pictures on your memory cards you can re-transfer them using Adobe Photo Downloader. All your NEF files should now be readable by Bridge/Photoshop. I've told Adobe Tech Support about this problem with Nikon's software. Hopefully they'll be able to check this as an option if others call in with similar problems.
Unfortunately I have not figured out how to repair the corruption in the files I transfered earlier using Nikon's piece of garbage software. Since I don't have the images on memory cards anymore I can't just re-transfer them. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to do this? Will I ever be able to access my earlier NEF shots?
    Cheers,
    Greg
Thanks to everyone for trying to help resolve these issues.

  • I am unable to import my json file for my bookmarks.

I'm unable to import bookmarks. When I go to Bookmarks, there is no organize option. If I go to File->Import, it just says that No programs that contain bookmarks, history, etc could be found even though its very obvious that it never made an attempt to look. Normally I do this in the Bookmarks->Show all bookmarks option without problems. I'm trying to import a json file.

I'm no good a searching for things in Bugzilla.
If it helps you the keyboard shortcuts within the Library List are
    Alt+O Organize
    Alt+V Views
    Alt+I Import and Backup
anything else was added by an extension and has no keyboard shortcut.
Would be nice to know if that works even when you can't see the Library's toolbar dropdowns but would see the dropdown once the shortcut is entered and be able to continue.

  • Organizer in Photoshop Elements 9 won't import large NEF files

Photoshop Elements 9 won't import the NEF fiels from my new Nikon D800.

Yes, the camera is too new for PSE9. You will have to either:
    Upgrade to PSE11
Download the free Adobe DNG Converter Version 7.3 and use that to convert your NEFs to DNGs, and then PSE9 will be able to import them
Use the Nikon software to convert the file to TIF, then import into PSE.

  • Unable to import Vob vedio file in to my project

I am unable to import my VOB vedio file in to my Adobe Premier pro cs6.Please help me on this how can i edit .VOB file

vob files are files from DVD and sometimes they are copyrighted and have meta data in them that makes it hard to use.. cause the manufacturer of that DVD tried to add data to the file so people can't abuse the copyright. Not all vob files have just video in them.. some have other stuff in them ... like menus and weird stuff that is used by the DVD to display chapters and special features and so on.. So basically not all VOB files are equal .. they are not all the same.. so your problem could be any number of problems...
If you provide more info .. like maybe someone can help out a bit... but it may be hard to help solve the problem even WITH more info... depending where you got the file and what's inside it.  sorry that isnt very helpful right off the bat , but vob files can be weird.  Another problem with some vob files is that not all of them are written really 'correctly'... even though it is a standardized thing some programs that make vob files dont do a very good job of making them... so .. maybe more info from you could help.. but then again.. it might not lead to a happy ending for you...
    but good luck
