Unable to Install Acrobat Connect Add-In

I'm trying to install the Add-in on one of my PCs so that I can share the screen. It asks me if I want to install the add-in but clicking on the Yes button (or the No button, for that matter) does nothing. I'm referring to the little pop-up dialog which says:
To use this application, you need the
Adobe Acrobat Connect Add-in. Would
you like to install it now?
At that point, those buttons are dead. I tried tabbing through the buttons to select the Yes button and then pressing Space but that has no effect either. Tabbing does work to highlight the buttons, the "?" and the overal dialog but once the Yes or No button is highlighted there seems to be no way to select any of the buttons.
I can right-click on the dialog and I get the
Settings
About Adobe Flash Player 10
menu. Settings is diabled but I can choose About which shows that I have FP 10.0.42.34 installed. Other than that, at this point, there's nothing I can do in the meeting room window except to exit.
This happens in both Firefox 3.6 and Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 7. I've tried repeatedly, tried rebooting.
How can I get the add-in installed??
David Salahi

Hi David!
Maybe you could installing it by first downloading the installer manually and then running that locally. You can find the installer for version 7.5 here:
   http://www.adobe.com/support/connect/updaters.html
Also make sure that you have sufficient privileges to be able to install software on your machine...

  • Unable to install adobe connect add-in --- And add-in not detected

In the Adobe Meeting connection test, it tells me that the add-in couldn't be installed on the harddrive, I should check the available HD again. So I installed the add-in manually and rebooted. This is not detected by the Meeting Connection test however... Any ideas? - Thanks in advance!

  • Adobe Acrobat Connect Add-in 9.3 r139 has encountered a problem

I have one particular user that cannot get into the web meetings using Acrobat Connect Add-in. We can log her on with any other PC with no problems. Something on this PC is hanging up.
She gets to the login screen and can log in and accept the agreement...then in IE, nothing happens. If I try to use Firefox, we get the following error:
"Adobe Acrobat Connect Add-in 9.3 r139 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I have tried the following solutions:
    - Uninstalled/re-installed Flash
    - Uninstalled/re-installed Adobe Connect Add-in
    - Made sure Windows updates were current
    - Deleted all temp files and cache
    - Re-installed IE 8.
The problem is obviously not browser specific and appears to be with the actual Connect Add-in. Does anybody have any ideas or solutions?

can you expand on what you mean by "nothing happens"  does any 2nd window launch (connectAddin)?  is IE8's popup blocker on or any popup blocker?  is the other computer configured the same as the computer that does not work?
you dont state which windows or flash version (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html) is in use by the client or what your Adobe Connect version is or if the server is doing SSL.  if you are not sure what version you have, append version.txt to your connectserver url.
    example http://myconnect.mydomain/version.txt
and how the client is connecting to your connect server,  is your server behind a firewall, is their client behind a firewall.  if they are behind a firewall is there company ports open for RTMP ports.
also I dont have a quick fix for you but some troubleshooting tips
you stated that they removed the ConnectAddin from the add/remove programs but you may also need to check to make sure it was removed
#connectaddin location, can remove the connectaddin folder, once you reinstall the new it will recreate the connectaddin folder
    win7: C:\Users\{userid}\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\www.macromedia.com\bin\connectaddin
    winXP: C:\Documents and Settings\{userid}\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\www.macromedia.com\bin\connectaddin
to test and capture log info from the connectaddin, must create the mms.cfg
Connectaddin log folder, the file name will start with connectaddin-{current_date_time}.log
    win7: C:\Users\{userid}\Documents\
    winXP: C:\Documents and Settings\{userid}\My Documents\
    #for winXX
    #c:\windows\system32\mms.cfg
    SingleLogFile=0
    PlayerLogging=1
    flashlogging=true
have them send you the logs to review you may also need to review the connect debug.log around the same timeframe, are you seeing anything odd.
after the testing make sure you have them comment out the lines in the mms.cfg, otherwise it will create a new file everytime they access a connect meeting room.
you can append ?mode=xml to the meeting URL. this will give you some detailed info within the browser. like which application server they are connected to and other info.
you could have the user try accessing the meeting room without the connect add-in, the addin is only required for that person to share.   just add ?launcher=false to the end of the meeting url, this will force the meeting room to display within the browser and just use the flash player.

  • Acrobat Connect Add-in 7.0 r455 has encountered a problem and needs to close

Maybe this should have been posted here instead of the
Acrobat Connect Professional forum? I guess i don't know the
different between the two products. :) We are running an Adobe
    Connect Enterprise Server.
    Greetings!
My support group is currently working with several end-users
of Adobe Connect Professional. These users are presenters and are
encountering an issue whenever they try to start their Camera and
Voice Pod. I've sent this up the chain towards Adobe on our end...
but figured I'd make a post on the forums here to see if anyone
else has been having this issue. I was able to find one mention of
the error on some site that was all in Spanish... but that site was
having timeout issues and I couldn't hack around them. (Plus my
knowledge of tech -spanish is very limited)
If the Acrobat Connect add-in is NOT installed on these
users' PCs then they are able to use the Camera and Voice Pod
without any issues. Once the Add-In is installed, however, as soon
as they click to activate the Camera and Voice Pod the add-in
crashes with the error "Acrobat Connect Add-in 7.0 r455 has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
    inconvenience."
These users are using Windows XP, Windows 2000 SP4 and
Windows 200 Sp3... all are having the same problem. We've had them
try different microphones, different browsers... nothing seems to
affect this. Some other troubleshooting steps include
removing/reinstalling Flash, clean-boot in Windows XP, disabling
all security, and uninstalling/reinstalling the Add-in itself.
Any ideas / suggestions from anyone would be greatly
    appreciated. Thanks!

Was this problem resolved? I'd be keen to hear details of the fix please?
    I'm seeing the same on v9.3 R110.
    Thank you,
    Sam

  • Unable to install Acrobat 7.0

After multiple install/uninstalls, I am unable to install Acrobat 7.0.  I have cs2 and windows xp. The other programs (GoLive, Illustrator, etc) appear as install options but the Acrobat 7.0 does not. (It is greyed out).
Can anyone assist me on this?
    thanks much.

There is a process for the Acrobat installation with CS that is a bit different than the stand-alone Acrobat as I understand it. It might be worth asking in the CS forum. I think you have to open one of the CS products, like PhotoShop and activate that, and then install Acrobat and activate it -- but that is an attempt at pulling the solution out of my lame memory.

Is this true? Can someone verify this?  Any idea of cost?  I really don't need my optical drive.  Besides, end of year, I'm getting a new Mack Book Pro.

  • Unable to install Adobe Connect Pro add-in on Windows 7

We love ACP but we absolutely hate the ACP add-in in terms of security. Aside from it not installing correctly on Terminal Server/XenApp (rather a show stopper for us), it now appears to have trouble on Windows 7 for similar reasons.
Running ACP on a brand new Windows 7 PC with full-administrator rights produces this error when you try and install the add-in from within a meeting:
    http://www.picpaste.com/acp1-GRRRvikJ.PNG
Okay I thought, I'll simply install the add-in directly by downloading from this website:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/connect/updaters.html
On running setup.exe, it gives you a false sense of security in that the UAC pops up asking if you'd like to allow the program to make changes. It installs without an error and shows up in control panel.
But - when you launch a meeting, it says "add-in not installed" and asks if you want to re-install. If you do, same disk write error as first time.
As a quick workaround, I ran-up IE as administrator and started a meeting and it installed. Whether it's installed for other non-admin users, who knows.
So how do you install the ACP add-in in a very-standard locked down corporate environment so that it works for all users??
    Cheers, Rob.

PS. I suspect you will have to manually copy & paste those links into your browser window to see the screenshot. This rather braindead (IMO) forum software doesn't seem to let you open links directly. Or right-click and open in new window. And why is it so slow?
    Cheers, Rob.

    Okay..
I finally have a few minutes to add some further information to this incredibly time consuming a frustrating chapter in the life of updating AdobeAcrobatPro9.0 to 9.2.
    Short Re-cap:
What originally started this whole process was trying to update my very stable version of AdobeAcrobatPro9.1.3 to 9.2.  After hours and hours of trying to make this update including re-installing the application several times from the original DVD, calling in to Adobe Tech Support multiple times and getting on with Apple support, I finally requested a new DVD from Adobe which I got.
Using that original DVD I reinstalled the application from scratch which put AdobeAcrobatPro 9.0 on my hard drive in the applications folder.  I made sure to fix the permissions on my system first (I'm running OSX 10.5.8).  I also followed virtually every suggestion from every source both on the Internet, Adobe Tech Support, Adobe Forums, as well as suggestions from some other of my engineers who work for me since I own my own software company.
Where I am at now is that while I have AdobeAcrobatPro 9.0 installed, I cannot even update to 9.1.  I am now stuck with the original version.
I am thinking that this may have to do with the languages implementation.  The new install that I received from Adobe is ENGLISH ONLY.  I am attaching a screenshot.  All of the plugins are installed and active.
I am surmising that there is some offensive code in the updater that doesn't like single language versions of AdobeAcrobatPro 9.0.  In one of the posts a Norweigan gentleman said he got his version to finally update but he had 3 language versions in Norweigan....
If I was Adobe I would investigate the possibility that there are language dependencies that are causing this very troublesome and persistent problems for many many users.  This is a very known issue now and due to the serious nature of the security deficiencies in the Adobe Acrobat Pro product versions previous to 9.2, I would think Adobe would want to address this quickly to avoid any class action litigation for negligence in keeping their software properly patched and patchable.
Since it's apparent that the normal tiers of support at Adobe aren't able to assist the multitude of angry and frustrated users of this product that someone in a higher position at Adobe gets involved to actually try and find a real solution and not hide behind the excuse of not being able to duplicate it.
This is a cop out and pretty lame excuse for a company as big as Adobe.
I'd really like to hear from someone at Adobe who not only has a sense of pride and responsiblity about Adobe products there but who also has the technical expertise and willingness to launch a serious effort to fix this preposterous situation.

  • Unable to install Acrobat Pro 6 Upgrade on Mac Mini single CPU, OS 10.4.5

I have a Mac Mini (1.5 GHz, Intel Core Solo) with 512 mb RAM running OS X (10.4.5)
Unable to install Adobe Acrobat Professional 6 upgrade because I am unable to install earlier version full version (I own Acrobat 4 and 5 full versions). Finalizing install of 6 asks me to "Manually identify prior install", "Search hard drive for prior install", or "Manually locate on orig. CD". None of these options are possible (Version 5 CD is not a drag-and-drop app). How do I work around this?

I tried "Manually select..." but when I insert original CD of Acrobat 5, I'm not able to select it. Version 5 is not a drag and drop install,...i must click on the installer to install 5.

  • Unable to install SQL SSRS add-in for SharePoint

"Please ensure Microsoft SharePoint Technologies is installed"
The environment setup is as mentioned below:
    SharePoint Server

Has SQL 2008 Reporting Services installed.
    SQL Server:
Has SQL 2008 R2 installed in SharePoint Integrated Mode
    Has SQL Reporting Services
Has SharePoint Server installed, configured and joined to two tier farm.
Could you please help resolve this issue?

    Hi Abhijit,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you ran SQL Reporting service add-in for SharePoint 2010.
Which version add-in did you use? Please you installed the right version.
There are some reasons for this error:
You are installing the wrong version of add-in. For example, installing 32bit add-in on x64 machine or vice versa.
You haven’t install SharePoint on the report server machine
Your SharePoint installation is not recognized by the add-in. Either cases, you need to reinstall SharePoint.

  • Unable to install Acrobat Reader 9.3.4

What ever I do, Acrobat Reader 9.3.4 installation won't execute.  The file would open and process, but thereafter; nothing happens.  I've tried uninstalling Acrobat Reader 9.3.3 using Revo Uninstaller just to make sure that there won't be any issues with the latest installation, but no changes. I've tried downloading the latest version via the download site, but no go. Anyone else having similar issues as me?  I've checked the forums here and other forums to find a solution, but I'm unable to find any.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Mahalos in advance.

    Hi,
I can't install acrobat reader but it seems it's for a different reason from what I'm reading in these posts. When I download it everything seems fine until I try to open it by clicking on the icon or try to read a PDF file. The Adobe reader license agreement pops up, says that I need to accept it before I continue, but there is no accept button!!! I try to scroll all the way down  and nothing; there is no accept button!! I've tried uninstalling it and installing it again, same thing. I've tried the link posted in this forum and the same thing happened. It's really getting on my nerves. Can you please please help me?? It just seems so basic, but I'm totally stuck! Any help will be much appreciated!!!

  • Unable to download Adobe Connect add-in

I am trying to downlaod adobe connect add in, my computer will not allow it. It is saying unable to write to hard disk?
Message was edited by: ashish gupta. to add a more descriptive title to the post.

    Helllo!
    Please try this.
Go to this website, first changing "myconnectserver.com" with the address of your own Adobe Connect server:
    myconnectserver.com/common/help/en/support/addindownload.htm
Next, click on the "Download the Windows version" or "Download the Macintosh version" to download the actual Add-in installation file to your computer. If you get the error message at this point, this is because you likely do not have the necessary permissions to save the file to your computer. Try saving to another location, like your desktop, and see if that works.
    I hope this helps!

  • "Acrobat Connect Add-in" funktioniert nur einmal

    Hallo Forum,

    besten dank
