Unable to install updates on Adobe Acrobat X Pro

Apparently I'm yet another person who can't do it.  I keep getting an error message along the lines of "file not found."  The program's definitely there.  I use it frequently -- just can't get any updates.

  • Following an update on Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro

Today there was a large update to Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and once the update had installed I keep getting the following message
"You cannot use this product at this time.  You must repair the problem by ininstalling and the reinstalling this product or contacting your IT administrator or Adobe customer support for help.  (147:6)"
I have uninstalled and reinstalled with the same error code and when contacting Adobe was told they are only customer support and not technical.  Has anyone got and suggestions for me.

The last update for the Acrobat 9 Family was back in May 2013 (to version 9.5.5*). That product is now end of line, there will never be any more updates and Adobe doesn't provide any customer support.

Sometimes there are server issues and such. A reinstall is a bit drastic. Try http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows.

  • Unable to access options in Adobe Acrobat X Pro

I had to reinstall my copy of Adobe Acrobat X Pro on a new computer.  I did the complete installation.  However, I can no longer access certain options that I normally use.  These options are all grayed out.  For example, I cannot select the "insert from file" option when trying to merge 2 PDF files.  I tried removing and then reinstalling the program, but that still did not work.  Can anyone help?

    Hi akchang,
I am not sure which option you are referring to here but try updating Acrobat to v 10.1.10 and check.

  • Cannot install new software - adobe acrobat 9 pro

    Hi
I have just upgraded my system software to Snow Leopard Mac OS X 10.6.3 so that I could install new software - Adobe CS5 Design Premium.
System upgarde went perfectly, installation of all other software in CS5 went perfectly and now all I need to do is install Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. I drag the folder from the CD into my Applications folder but it does not complete the process of copying it and comes up with the folowing error message:
'The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in Adobe Acrobat Pro can't be read or written  (Error code -36)'
Prior to this installation attempt I removed Acrobat 8 as instructions that came with 9 indicated that I needed to do this. The only other info that may be relevant is that this software is an upgrade pack from Adobe CS2, though I did not have CS2 on this particluar computer. It was on a different computer.
    regards
    Lorna

To download Acrobat 9 Professional :
Go to the web page : http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=acrobat_pro&loc=en
Login with your Adobe ID and Password. Now instead of clicking on the download button copy and paste the following link on the address bar and hit enter :http://trials2.adobe.com/Applications/Acrobat/APRO/9/trials/AcroPro90_ efg.exe
This is the direct download link for Acrobat 9.
Note : This link would only work from the downloads page of Acrobat 10.

  • I installed my old Adobe Acrobat 7 pro on my win 7 computer but couldn't activate...the CS deleted it and gave me a new linke to install which wouldn't work.  They lost all my work.  CS sucks.

I had on old copy of Adobe Acrobat Pro 7 which I purchased full price.  I needed it to fill in my mothers inheritance tax.  I could not activate it so was in the trial period.  I contacted Customer support to be allowed to activate it.  They asked no questions on which OS I was on and send me a link.  The link downloaded the program, but upon install found I had a later version.  I  resumed the call with customer support (30 minute hold) and told them the issue.  They woman (indian) told me to uninstall my old Acrobrat pro and install the program she had sent me.  I did that, error messages.  She (without notice) had put me on another 30 minute hold.  I could no longer install my old version (which they would not let me activate) or the "newer" version because of error codes.  I tried the new ID number and the old ID number with my disc.  Both were invalid.  I called in on a home line as the assistant on the cell line was on permanent hold.  He explained they no longer supported that version and it would not work with Windows 7 (funny it worked before I called them, but could not be activated...so I was 23 days into a 30 day trial period).  Finally the cell girl came back on and lied to me saying I said the software would not work. All I needed was an activation code, I understood not all features would work, but I had tested what I needed and that worked fine.  She argued that it could not install on Windows 7 (false as I had already done it).  She hung up.  The guy on my land line came back with the same lines, but understood CS had worsened my situation. He had no solution for 30 minutes...until he offered the free trial version of version 11.  I have an xp computer (old) I could have used, they just invalidated the serial and activation numbers.  They wanted me to buy the new version.  I don't need that.  I lost half my data.  Their CS (indian) sucks to the max.

Since the bookmarks are gone, I no longer have the link to the page for AA7 files that get around the activation issue of the AA7 activation server being gone. In any case, AA7 is not compatible with Win7. You can create workarounds, but both the print driver and AcroTray will not work. You can install another PS driver (even some from Adobe available), change the name to Adobe PDF, and set the port to FILE. Assuming you can find the AA7 link that was part of the old CS and can install it, you will have to run this work around. To use it, you print to the Adobe PDF printer you have created (or even PDF Maker (though not compatible with OFFICE after 2003 as I recall). You then open the file in Distiller to create a PDF. This latter step is what AcroTray normally takes care of, but it does not work in Win7.
    Good luck.

  • Can not install new purchased Adobe Acrobat X Pro DVD

I just recieved from Adobe a purchased full Acrobat X Pro DVD for installing on my computer.  Upon attempting to install I find a drop down box stating "your system has not been modified"  My system meets and or exceeds all the stated system recommendations from Adobe and I have opened my firewall.  What next please???

What system? What other Adobe software on it? You need to be more specific. If it says "not modified" it thinks there is already a version of Acrobat X and that may be the case if you ran a trial. If so, simply activate it using the serial. No need to reinstall.

I cannot get the Acrobat XI Pro program to run.

    Hi DorioleV
What is the error you're getting ?

  • Unable to apply updates to Adobe Acrobat XI

have got Adobe standard XI installed
    have installed to C:\Restricted\Adobe_STD_XI
this is so that access may be controlled using Applocker - %PROGRAMFILES% has too many programs to start locking down by every application
    Version 11.0 installed fine
When applying 11.07 or 11.09 update, I am hitting this precise issue
    http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-x-xi-installation-rollback.html
However the suggested fix is not working
Have cleared temp folders and repeated - no joy
    Any further suggestions?

I noticed that the 'AAMIU_Install' custom action could be bypassed if IGNOREAAM=1
    so msiexec /p <patchfile> IGNOREAAM=1
Will have to find out what I have disabled later

  • Acrobat 10 Pro: Unable to Install Updates After Virus Removed: Receive Error 1310 ?

Acrobat 10 Pro: Unable to Install Updates After Virus Removed: Receive Error 1310 ?
Attempted to re-install the original Adobe Acrobat 10 Pro from the disk provided with the purchase; and it has put me in a trial; and is requesting that I purchase the software I already paid for, two years ago.

You can try a repair (may need to go to Control Panel>Programs & Features). A reinstall is a last resort, but if you go there be sure to uninstall from the control panel, run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, and remove any part left of the Acrobat folder. Then reboot as the administrator and reinstall. Be sure to disable antivirus during the install.

  • Corrupt .pdf files since install of Adobe Acrobat IX Pro

Since installing the new Adobe Acrobat IX Pro (cloud version) on my Mac Air, l'm unable to open old .pdf files. What can be done to resolve this issue.
    Thanks.

    Hi jwalrathx,
Do you have the latest version of Acrobat XI? Choose Help > Check for Updates. Install any available updates. Support for Office 2013 was added to PDF Maker in the 11.0.01 version that was released back in January.
Please let us know if you need further assistance.
