Unable to open Macro file in Excel 2013 but opens fine in Excel 2010

Hello,
Hopefully someone can help us.  We have a Macro Excel file created with Password Protected to open as well as to Modify.  The file opens fine in version 2010. However, in Excel 2013, we get an error message "Cannot run the macro "filename.xlsm'!QC'.
The macro may not be available in this workbook or all macros may be disabled.  However, if we removed the password all together, the file can be opened in Excel 2013 without any issues.  We do NOT want to have the file without the password so any
help is appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,
Do you have the latest update of 2013, there has been changes in dec 2014 that causes problems with VBA code.
Maybe that is also the reason here. See below link for more information.

    Hi.  I have a Dell PC running Windows 7 64 bit.  I have the latest version of Adobe Reader,  It worked yesterday.  Today I have job training to do that is due tomorrow morning and I can't open PDF files.  I have to open a guide and read it and take a test tomorrow.  I have deleted and reinstalled the application.  I have rebooted.  I have made sure my PDF's are associated with the program.  Every PDF on my computer won't open and I get the same error message.  It simply says Attempt to access invalid address.  How can I fix this?  Thanks.

    Hi Don,
    I have seen this issue fixed for some users by modifying the following registry key:
    The key is "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" MoveImages
    Set the key to 1 instead of 0 then reboot the machine.
    In case you still face the issue try the following registry key change:
    The only thing you have to do is rename the following key at the REGEDIT, and everything will be fine !!
    BEFORE:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.exe
    AFTER:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.old
    Note: Please take a backup of the registry before attempting this change.

  • I can't get pages 5.01 to open pages files from iCloud, although they open in iCloud Pages without difficulty.

    I can't get Pages 5.01 to open Pages files from iCloud, although they open in iCloud Pages without difficulty.
    I am using the most up to date version of Mavericks and Pages and can log into iCloud without any problems.  Is this just a glitch?  The files all behaved properly under previous versions and the initial release of the new version of Pages.

    Pages for iCloud beta is a weird beast and as it says "beta".
    I think it is the least compatible of all the many different .pages files floating around out there.

    What is the GarageBand version that your friend is using?
    If it is GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5, you can buy GarageBand '11 as a boxed retail version with the iLIfe '11 bundle, e.g. from Amazon.
    Then you can upgrade GarageBand '11 to 6.0.5, using this upgrader from the Support page:
                     GarageBand 6.0.5
    GarageBand 6.0.5 will work well with your system.  But if your friend is using the newest GarageBand 10, this will not help. Then ask your friend to send you audio files for each track, so you can recreate the project from the audio.  Or your friend could also use GarageBand '11 for the projects you want to share, that will run well in all newer MacOS X versions, even with GarageBand 10.0 installed on the same system.

    That choice is not made by Adobe, but your browser, of which you give no details. 64-bit browsers cannot open PDF files, as the Adobe Reader plugin is a 32-bit app.

  • .xlsm File use from Excel 2013 64bit/Win7 64bit to Excel 2013 32bit/Win8.1 64bit - Component Removed (not API related)

    Work Environment:  Excel 2013 64bit/Win7 64bit
    Home Environment: Excel 2013 32bit/Win8.1 64bit (1 desktop and 1 laptop)
    I am developing an an .xlsm file at work (with Lists and a single form with controls linked to a worksheet ControlSource). It works and saves all day long just fine in my work environment. I save the file to either a USB drive (or DropBox - makes no difference)
    and then open the file on my home computer. I can open the file the first time with no problem and with no error messages. But then when I try to save the file Excel 2013 32bit most often tells me that it has removed a component. But it doesn't tell which
    component it has removed. After that, if I close the file and try to reopen it, it won't reopen. I get a series of error message: [1] file path errors (error 75) [2] Excel has stopped working errors. [3] Excel hasn't enough memory to complete the operation,
    [4] Excel will close. So I click the close button on the last error message and Excel disappears. I say disappears, because its not really gone. Mind you, its not listed in the Task Manager at this point. But, if I then click the Windows Taskbar icon to start
    Excel, Excel will sometimes automatically open up with the file that I was trying to open before, already up and running, i.e. I do not select the file to open it - it just appears. Other time Excel just repeats the series of error messages noted above.
    The strange part is, once this file has been corrupted, I can still take it back to my work environment, fire it up on my work computer, and it works just fine. No error messages, no saving problems.
    I have totally uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2013 (HUP Click to Run) on both my home computers and it makes no difference.
    I can say though, this is driving me nuts. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
    phillfri

    I think I solved the issue.
    Step 1: Moved all my code from the Worksheet_Open event to the Auto_Open Macro.
    Result: File would open from inside Excel but when opening by clicking on the file in Windows explorer I would get the error msg "There was a problem sending a command to the program."
    Step 2: Apply FixIt 20074. Note that to get this FixIt to work in Windows 8.1 you MUST save the FixIt file to your desktop and run it from there. If you follow the instructions on the FixIt page - download and run - you will get the error msg "This Fixit
    does not apply because the computer does not have the expected software (Excel.exe)."
    Excel 2013 definitely seems to have some bugs when starting a macro enabled file. I have seen other comments on the internet about the Excel workbook_open event actually failing to run all the VBA commands that are put into it.
    Environments:
    [1] Home: Microsoft HUP Click-n-Run Office Professional 2013; Windows 8.1, 64 bit; Excel 2013, 32 bit.
    [2] Work: Enterprise Microsoft Office Professional 2013; Windows 7, 64 bit; Excel 2013, 64 bit.

  • Force Excel 2013 to open seporate instances.

    Hi,
    I want separate spreadsheets to open in separate instances. This was an option in 2010 and now upgrading to 2013 this is no longer an option. I don't want to manually open each spreadsheet in a separate instance "open /x", that's too cumbersome.
    For those of us that go in and out of spreadsheets all day every day this feature should be a no brainer.
    Please MS fix this.

    Ok for anyone interested I figured it out. It's a variant on methods used to do this for excel 2010, but there is one major exception:
    run: regedit
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT => Excel.Sheet.8 => Shell => Open => Command
    (Default) will read: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\Root\Office15\EXCEL.EXE" "%1"
    this is where this method differs for excel 2013, amend (Default) to read:
    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\Root\Office15\EXCEL.EXE" "%1" /x
    adding a space and then the /x will automatically open existing excel files in a separate instance.
    You need to do the same process for
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT => Excel.Sheet.12 => Shell => Open => Command

  • Excel 2013: Lost VBA Code From Excel 2010

    Just upgraded from Office 2010 to Office 2013.
    Tried to open several of my Excel spreadsheets created in 2010 with Excel 2013. I have spreadsheets that have VBA to perform several functions and routines.
    None of the .xlsm spreadsheets from 2010 work in 2013. I get the following messages:
    "The Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macros in this workbook are corrupted and have been deleted. The macro corruption most likely exists in the current file. To recover the macros, open a backup copy of this file if you have one."
    OR ...
    "We found a problem with some content in '*******.xlsm'. Do you want us to try to recover as much as we can? If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes."
    Clicking Yes does not help. It removes or tries to fix the issue. Under the developer tab, the "Visual Basic" and "Macros" button is disabled.
    I tried 3 of my different workbooks. They all get the same error. I went back to an Office 2010 installation and all the workbooks open file - without error, and the code executes.
    Advice?

    I'm getting the same problem, but with Excel 2010.
    I've created a workbook with macros in Excel 2010 and couldn't run it in two computers with office 2010. The same problem as above occurs:
    "The Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macros in this workbook are corrupted and have been deleted. The macro corruption
    most likely exists in the current file. To recover the macros, open a backup copy of this file if you have one."
    This problem happened with other 2 workbooks with macro. It's curious too that another workbook with macro created by
    me is working on these two computers without errors. And, of course, all of the workbooks mentioned works well in the other computers. This problem started when I downgrade the office os this two computers from 2013 to 2010.
    None of the solutions proposed above has worked.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Whenever I try to open a file a box appears saying opening...(example: RealPlay.exe) but nothing opens, I only get a choice of "save" or "cancel" and a blank "Untitled" tab opens in Firefox ! ?

    Yes--see above info, please.
    In detail here's what happens:
    the window that responds when I double click to open a file always says "Opening..." and names the file; then says--
    which is a: Application; then shows--
    from: C:/users/test/dwhelper; and finally asks--
    Would you like to save this file?
    But it gives me only 1 of 2 options--
    either "Save File" or "Cancel"
    but never ever actually lets me open that file !
    ...Also, strangely, a number of my desktop icons have been changed
    to Firefox icons (with the shortcut arrow still within), and some of them (like Apple Safari) refuse to return to the original icon when I try to click back to the original icon. Very weird.

    I am not a Vista user. I am assuming the icons have changed to a firefox icon because you or; some application or other user; have set the default option for those file types to open with firefox.
    You will be able to change that in your registry settings but it is far safer to use some other option. I am not sure how to do that in Vista.
    RealPlayer.exe is an executable file, that is it is an application presumably a media player, if you try to open it with firefox; whicjch is what happens if you click its firefox icon; it will just give you the options to open or save the file. If you use the open option it may work as intended.

  • SharePoint 2010 and PowerPoint 2010: Open PPTX File in Edit Mode and Open PPSX in in Slide Show Mode

    I have the following issue while opening PowerPoint PPTX file and PPSX from the Document ID link provided by SharePoint 2010.
    Issue
    Initially when I opened PPTX file from the DOC ID link from SharePoint 2010, it is opening up in Slide Show mode which is not how we want it to be.
    For PPSX, it is opening in Slide Show mode which is what we wanted.
    Thus, I did some research online and found this article at support.microsoft.com/kb/q299824  which requires some modification to the Registry of the client machine.
    I did the change as follows
    Open Registry
    Look for “Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PowerPoint.Show.12”
    Set BrowserFlags value to a
    After the change, PPTX is opening in Edit Mode in PowerPoint which is correct but PPSX is also opening in Edit Mode in PowerPoint which is not correct
    This issue only occurs if I open the document from the Doc ID link in SharePoint. If the documents are downloaded, it will not have this issue.
    Questions
    Can I set PPTX to open in Edit Mode and PPSX to open in Browser Mode?
    Is this fixed as in if I change the registry setting it will affect both file types?
    Is there other ways I can achieve opening PPTX in Edit and PPSX in Browser Mode?
    [Environment]
    My Client machine is running on I.E 9 and Office 2010.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    To make the PPTX file open in Edit mode and PPSX file open in Slide Show mode, I recommend to edit the registry key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PowerPoint.Show.12 to 8.
    I tested the scenario in my environment with changing the key value to 8, after that PPTX file opened in Edit mode and PPSX file opened in Slide Show mode.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • Adobe CS6 crashes after opening a file authored in CC but saved in CS6 format

    I generally create my project assignments for school on the Mac side of my computer (10.9) using Adobe CC 17.1 (latest version).  However, if I am not done, and need to do my normal job, I just bootcamp over to Windows 7, and use CC there to finish the job.
    I then save the AI file in CS6 format via CC, and submit it to my instructor.  However, in both instances (both projects I submitted tha were converted to CS6), they wouldn't open on my instructors  Mac CS6 client.  No error showed up, nothing froze, Adobe CS6 just showed the splash screen, then closed.  Nothing else.  She was able to view them in another reader, but of course, that causes issues.
    Normally the workflow is like this:
    My Mac (10.9):  Open CC Illustrator, and design the work.
    My Windows 7 (Bootcamp):  Open saved CC AI file and continue work.
    ------(same system):  Save CC AI file as CS6 (on windows or mac, either one has producted this result)
    Submit to instructor.
    Instructor opens on CS6 on her Mac, and it just will not open.
    I am wondering if perhaps there is a conversion issue between CC on Mac side, and opening it on CC windows side, and then saving it.
    I may have more information, assuming my instructor provides some more details about her mac, etc.  But, right now, that's all I have.

    Is there anything in Event viewer that might provide a clue? Are you using the same font manager/font server on all systems that you tried to open the file?  Any possibility of trying to open on a Mac, where we might be able to get a real crash report? (I'm on Windows as well.) :(  Try setting the prefs to not check links on open and see if that makes a difference, and uninstall any font activation plugin if you have one. I don't use a font' manager here -- never found one I thought was any good that I could make work with my system (Font Agent Pro was a candidate, but didn't like my user profiles being on drive D:).

  • Can't open cr2 files from my 5D but can from my 20D

    i just got a new computer (windows vista) and on my old computer i could open cr2 files from both my 20d and my 5d just fine. but now on my new computer i can't open the cr2 raw files from the 5d but can from the 20d. I have photoshop cs2. I am not planning to upgrated to cs3 anytimes soon, do I just need to install a plug in? Please help.

    Kristen,
    No, no, no. The DNG Converter is a stand-alone executable program. You can even put it on your desktop. You would need it only if your camera model is NOT supported by ACR 3.7, which is the latest version you can use with Photoshop CS2.
    In that case, you would use the DNG Converter to convert your raw images to DNG files first and then opening the DNG files in ACR 3.7.
    Now, the ACR 3.7 plug-in has to be installed in the correrct location, which is where the old ACR plug-in resides. You will be replacing that old, obsolete ACR plug-in (while Photoshop is NOT running).
    [The default Photoshop installation comes with and installs that obsolete ACR plug-in.]
    Read the instructions on the download page very carefully, and refer to the FAQs of this forum on the same page where you added this topic.

    Hi,
    I have written an addon to OO Writer. It works properly with GNU-Linux (Ubuntu 9.04, JAVA 6)

        * Each entry correspond to a line of the file
        * The dictionary must be EUC-JP coded.

          File f=new File(dicFileName);
             WarningHandler.displayMessage("I did; File f=new File(dicFileName); with "+dicFileName+" as a file name"+
                     "\nthe reselt is: "+f.toString()+" with f.toString()");
          BufferedReader i = null;
          try {
          i = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream(f), "EUC-JP"));//dicFileName
             String str1 = null;
             while ((str1 = i.readLine()) != null) {
                // System.out.println(signature+"making a new entry"+Integer.toHexString(index));
                temp = new DicEntry(str1);
                temp.entrySignature = signature;
                entryList.add(temp);
          } catch (IOException ex) {
             System.out.println("Error message: "+ex.getMessage());
             Logger.getLogger(Dictionary.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
             WarningHandler.displayMessage("There was a problem opening or reading the " + dicFileName +
                     " dictionary file. Please check that your file and filepath are correct and" +

                i.close();
             } catch (IOException ex) {
                Logger.getLogger(Dictionary.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
      At first I used
         i = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream(dicFileName), "EUC-JP"));//dicFileNamewithout the intermediate File creation but the result is the same, under Linux it works and under Windows it fails opening the file.
    From my WarningHandler.displaymessage method I can see taht the file name is correctly (at least I guess) as it is:
    /home/jaaf/jilt/theFileName with Linux
    c:\Users\jaaf\jilt\thefileName with Windows
    For information the file theFileName is EUC-JP encoded and contains Japanese Characters
    Thank you for help

    Complementary information after investigation
    I split the line
    i = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream(f), "EUC-JP"));//dicFileName
    in 3.
    It seems that FileInputStream and InputStreamReader pass without problem.
    But the line
    i=new BufferedReader(isr); where isr is the InputStreamReader makes the program crash (Even the catch is not treated).
    The message I get is:
    Run Time Error
    prog C:\ProgramFiles\OPenOffice.org3\program\soffice.bin
    The application has requested the RunTime to terminate it in an unusual way.

    After exporting a web page to a web server, the pages run correctly IF the client system has Lookout installed. If Lookout is not installed, I need additional software. The pages contain a link to ftp the file LK45_web.exe from National Instruments.
