?unable to open raw photo file after downloading camera raw 7.4 update?
Can anyone help please.
I recently had my lap top wiped and have had to re load CS6. I have also downloaded the camera raw 7.4 update (I use a Nikon D7100 camera) The update downloads without any problems, I go through download, install and then finish, but I still am unable to open my raw photos. I get the following message... 'if you are attempting to open a raw file from a digital camera, make sure you have the latest raw camera update installed'. I have no idea why it is doing this, or how to combat it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Gail
Hi Benjamin,
You were right. It was the camera's provided software transfer system. I've copied them directly from the (same) card to the desktop and works.
Many many thanks! Cheers

Unable to open existing PDF files after downloading Adobe reader
I have an Advent 7085 PC with Windows XP Home version 2002 service pack 2. After downloading the latest Adobe Reader 8 I cannot open any of my existing PDF files, nor can I open any new ones. I have several times downloaded it, tried it and found it doesn't work so have then deleted it from the system and rebooted. Downloaded again only for the same thing to happen again. Error message says that Adobe Reader 8.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close. Then I am advised to let microsoft know of this problem.
Please!!! Is there anybody out there who knows what the problem might be and help me resolve it?
Thanks
IGI finally called tech support and this is what we did and it worked for me...First go to start/control panel/add&remove programs. Once the program list is configured, hilite Adobe reader and select remove. Once the program is removed, from the control panel select user accounts. Set up a new user account "test". Through user "test" go into www.adobe.com and select icon to download adobe reader. You do not need to run media player, remove check unless you want to download it. After program is downloaded and copied you can close out of adobe. At that point I was able to open my PDF files without any error message. Tech advised me to keep the "test" user set up, doesn't hurt anything to have it there. He told me that there probably was some settings under my user account that was causing a glitch in the download and that is why we opted to download through a new user account. BTW the tech support was free if you still can't get it to work. Good Luck

Unable to open Canon CR2 files after installing Camera Raw 7.3
I have photoshop elements 8 and have used raw files from my canon 450D for several years. Just upgraded to Photoshop Elements 11 and it doesn't recognise the .CR2 files o, as far as I can tell any other type of Raw file. This despite loading Camera Raw 7.3?
Can anyone help?

I think we are getting somewhere.
I have not had a chance to look at the other logs you suggest yet. But...........
I made sure the old Camera Raw.8bi file was remnamed with a totally fictitious extension so that the new file from the linkk you sent could not be mistaken..........but no joy.
I then copied the Camera Raw.8bi file from the Elements 8 equivalent folder, this is onlly circaa 11Mb instead of circa 20Mb, and..........
..........whoa and behold ............ I can read all my .CR2 files through PSE11 and also PSE* still works!
You are a star!
I don't know what other functionality is missing. Maybe there is some. I shall have to investigate.
Maybe the latest plugin only works on x64 systems?
So next steps are for me to a) review the other logs you suggest, b) try downloading the equivalent files from PSE9 and PSE10 and see if they work, c) ask Adobe why this has happened.
Many thanks

I am unable to open a Zip file I downloaded.
I play an online golf game at www.wgt.com and to help my playng I downloaded an app from www.wgt.4fan.cz it is WGT Caddy PRO. I am unable to open the file. From reading the answers to other questions concerning opening Zip files, I downloaded Unarchiver and Stuffit Expander. Neither will open the files. There is a file WGTCaddy.exe, I get a box stating "We can't open application"WGTCaddy.exe" because Microsoft windows apps are not supported on OSX. The WGTCaddy.ini file brings the message 'A failure has occurred. The Stuffit Engine was unable to determine the file format. As for the Microsoft message, I bought my iMac from a 3rd party and it has Office 2008 and other Microsoft programs, I am able to open them all. There is a video on YouTube demonstratin how to download WGTCaddy PRO and install it. The person on the video says it is a ZIP file, I am a computer dunce, so I am taking what he says, that it is a ZIPfile, at face value. That is my sad tale, any suggestions? Might the app not be compatible with OSX? Could it be another type of file? I 'll appreciate any suggestions. Thank you all.
Exe files are Microsoft Windows executables and will not work on Macs. Your Office 2008 is Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac. That's why it works.

Unable to open CR2 photo files in photoshop CS6
I am not able to open my CR2 files (from a Canon 70D camera) in my Photoshop CS6 via camera raw. The pop up window suggested updates, which I did, and the problem persists. Any suggestions?
Which operating system are you using?
You tried Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6 to get the camera raw update, either 8.3 (windows xp and vista and mac os x 10.6.8) or 9.0 (all other operating systems) -
I am unable to open raw files taken on my Canon Rebel T1i in my version of Photoshop CS3. When I import raw files into Bridge they come up as patches with CR2 on them and when clicked on, a notice comes up stating that Photoshop does not recognize these files. I tried to update my Adobe Camera Raw by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe Website, but when I clicked on the plus-in, I got another message that Photoshop does not recognize this file. I spoke with a representative from Canon who said that I could not update CS3 and that I should subscribe to the Cloud. I would prefer to use my CS3, if possible. Can anyone advise me what to do?
The T1i was first supported by Camera Raw 5.4 which is only compatible with CS4 and later

Unable to open RAW files in CS6 after update
Hi all,
I have Photoshop CS6 and have been able to open my D4 Raw files with no issues using the Camera Raw version 7.1 plugin.
Yesterday I upgraded my Mac OS from Snow Leopard to Yosemite (a big jump I agree) and proceeded to update Photoshop to the latest version as well as installing Adobe DNG Converter 8.8.
I am apparently still using the same 7.1 plugin version as I always have but I am now no longer able to open any RAW files through Photoshop as it displays a message saying 'files not recognised' when I try to open them.
Have I skipped too many updates? Do the latest Photoshop CS6 updates leave me unable to open RAW files? Am I being pushed down the CC route?
Could anybody offer any help at all as I have a wedding to edit but cannot open any files!!! Stress!!!
I backed up my system through Time Machine before I did the update but im not sure if I restore that I will still have Yosemite OS running.
Any help or advice really is appreciated.
Many thanks.
PhilCamera RAW should be at version 8.8 for CS6

After updating silverlight, i'm unable to open any pdf files in the system
After updating silverlight, i'm unable to open any pdf files in the system
According to your User Agent you posted this question using Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1. Are you having a problem with Firefox? What Firefox version?
You said you are having a problem opening PDF files on your system. Can you explain that better? Mozilla Support can help you with opening PDF files in Firefox, which uses a built-in PDF reader. Maybe one of these articles will help?

Malware - Safari users - disable Open"safe" files after downloading
For those not aware there's some malware floating around which goes by the name of MacDefender and other variants.
It's a scam that may show a page suggesting 'virus' infection on the user's machine and/or download an installer file.
Visiting malicious sites or apparently just browsing some Google Images searches will automatically download a zipped file. If the Safari Preference to Open "safe" files after downloading is checked it will unzip and run the installer for the malware.
While installing requires user intervention to click through the installation, the most recent variant will apparently install for a user without needing an administrator password.
Once installed the malware apparently opens unsavoury websites randomly and prompts for credit card details to remove them.
This is unpleasant scareware to steal your credit card info.
Beware.

My Safari can´t open .dmg files after downloading
I updated to Mac OS X 4.9. But since this update, Safari cannot open .dmg files after downloading! On 10.4.8 it was not a problem. What can I do?
eMac G4 PPC Mac OS X (10.4.9)Darn...I thought that would do the trick.
Given the other problems you mention, more and more, it seems a reinstall of the OS, using Archive and Install is going to be necessary. Have you ever done an Archive & Install of the OS? Important you carefully read the description of the process. If you are uncertain, I find the Take Control Upgrading to Tiger E-zine to be a very helpful guide.
Once you reinstall the OS, then you can upgrade to 10.4.8 using the combo update, repairing permissions via Disk Utility in your Utilities folder when complete.
One question: Not sure why you have run into all these problems on the 10.4.9 upgrade. It worked without problem for me. Anything unusual happen during the install?

Safari won't open docx files after download
The "open safe files after download" button is checked. I unchecked it, shutdown safari, rechecked it and it still isn't working.
How do I get that file type on the "safe to open" list?
I'm not sure there is any way to do that, and if there is, I wouldn't recommend it, because Word files are not necessarily safe to open -- they can include harmful macros. You can try the suggestion linked below, but I haven't tested it.

Unchecking 'Open "safe files after downloading' not working
After unchecking "Open 'safe files after downloading'", files open anyway and do not download to the specified directory (Safari 2.0.4). Instead, I am forced to preview them, and have to manually save. I had this option unchecked on my Powerbook G4 (Safari 1.3.2), and it worked without problems. Any suggestions?
I'm geussing you're using Safari as your internet browser? Try Firefox as a browser. It will allow you to view PDF documents in the browser itself, without downloading the document to your Download folder and it doesn't require Adobe to do so.
