Unable to record programs on my VCR

My VCR(s) are connected according to the diagrams shown on the troubleshooting page of the Verizon website, but I am not able to record anything.  I only have the VCR, not DVR.   I get a blue screen on the one TV and just static (and sound) on the other TV.

How do you have your VCR Connected to the Verizon FIOS Set Top Box ?
Normally you would connect it as follows:
STB---S Video and Composite Audio (Red and white)--->VCR
-or-
STB---Composite Audio and Video (Yellow, Red, White)--->VCR
-or-
STB---Coax Cable (RG6)--->VCR
To record the VCR would need to be set to record from the alternate input if using S-Video or Composite Cables and Channel 3 or 4 if using a Coax Cable.  The Verizon STB would need to be on and tuned to the program that you want to record.

    Does anyone know if there is a way to copy a DVR recorded program to an external device (USB etc..) ?  I can't get a clear answer from Verizon.
    This is something that would be nice to do on occasion, like recording to VCR tape.  Some times there is something I would like to keep and not take up space on the set top box.

    It's not possible to download or copy recorded files from FiOS without a TivoHD (screenshot).  That's a TiVo exclusive feature.
    With the FiOS Motorola DVR, the most you can do is copy content recorded from local channels, in realtime as it is played, using Firewire.   Verizon not provide any technical support for this (you've got to figure it out yourself), and it only works under 32-bit Windows XP and Vista (as far as I know) once you've installed the right software and drivers on your computer.  More information in this thread.

    I have had Vision box since May and have recently moved into a new home taking the service with me. At my previous address we had no problems whatsoever with the service.
    It's been one month since moving home and It's been a disaster.
    I used the online change of address tool which seemed fine but upon moving in and setting up my box, BT had cancelled my subscriptions leaving me with just the freeview channels. I have since made a number of calls and thankfully this problem has been resolved.
    Unfortunately a new problem has arisen, all my recorded programs have no sound. The video playback is smooth but we can't hear anything.
    The clock has also bizarrely decided to stop working!?
    Getting a bit fed up with it all to be honest.
    Any help would be great!

  • On Demand & Recorded programs

    Good evening all,
    For the past week or so, I have been unable to view my recorded programs or those 'On Demand'.
    After choosing an On Demand program to view, I get a black screen with a rotating triangle (or pointy D).  After 10 seconds or so, I'm taken back to the menu.  The program doesn't start and there are no error messages.
    With the recorded programs, I get a black screen for a few seconds before being taken back to the recordings menu. I know the programs were recorded correctly originally as I had watched some before the issue arose.
    I've tried resetting the hub, and also doing the factory reset on the vision box as directed by the call centre - neither of which worked.   I want to make sure that it's nothing I've done, or I could easily fix, before I book an engineer so I don't have to pay the £99 call out fee.
    Has anyone else experienced this and have any ideas of how to cure the fault?

  • Camcorder video error: "Unable to record. Resolution not supported by memory card."

    We purchased two Samsung Droid Charges the first day they were released and recently they've both been getting this error after 8-15 seconds of recording in HD (1280x720): "Warning: Unable to record. Resolution not supported by memory card."
    Called Verizon tech support, but they referred me to Samsung. Not knowing much about micro SDHC cards, I was alarmed to discover that the factory pre-installed 32gb card is only rated class 2 for speed. Samsung told me you need a minimum of speed class 4 or higher to record at this resolution. The only problem is you need an SD card installed in order to use the camcorder, period. In other words, all of us who payed an arm and a leg for the best phone Verizon sells now have to go buy our own micro sd card that actually supports all of the phone features as advertised?! The lowest prices I've seen for the faster cards are $70. Are we the only two Charge owners experiencing this problem?  I've read somewhere that lower speed class cards may initially support faster speeds than they are rated until they accumulate more files, so the problem may go undetected for some time until you have more files that are stored in different locations on the card (making them difficult to access at the faster speeds). This may explain why are the first ones to get this error since we've had the phones the longest and only 50% free space remaining on the SD card. Oh, Samsung also said they won't be able to replace your card for one that has the proper speed rating. Kind of seems like false advertising to say a feature is available (HD camcorder), and then not mention the fact that the memory card provided isn't sufficient for that feature (separate upgrade required). Anyone else sharing the same frustrations? Ideas?

    Thanks for the response. I've tried everything on that page. It's not an issue with the cable, or firewire port or the cable being connected properly, as the iSight camera works fine with iChat. I've disconnected the only other firewire device on the computer, didn't make any difference. Camera works fine in iChat, so it's not the camera itself. And, as I mentioned in the post, the same camera, if hooked up to my laptop, works just fine recording in QuickTime. So, it appears to be an issue with the QuickTime installation on this computer. I've done a search for the same error I'm getting and found some other occurrences with the same problems, but none that offered a solution.

  • ERROR: 'Sky Go unable to load program information as there is no Internet connection'

    I was using Sky Go via my iPad and a T-Mobile hot spot generator (Hauwei) to watch programs whilst in my caravan in Devon. Suddenly it stopped working and I now whenever I try and use Sky Go I get the message 'Sky Go unable to load program information as there is no Internet connection'. Obviously I am connected. I have tried reinstalling Sky Go and have completely rebooted the iPad but to no effect. Why has it suddenly stopped working???
    Having returned home I have tried to connect again when the ipad is connected via my BTHomeHub2 but I still get the same message, I have also tried to use BBC iPlayer and I am getting the same error message. What has happened????

    The limited WiFi Connection issue when there is a good internet connection, is a known issue in the OS releases in the past six months, and has been corrected as far as I can tell on the most recent 10.2.1.3xxx or higher OS.
    But, I would note that when your router has no internet connection, you should expect to get that notification... no internet connection > limited wifi connection.

    Are you are using an audio interface?
    Are you recording external instruments... you will need to explain what kind of audio, virtual instruments, loops, recorded audio through an interface?
    If you're recording through an audio interface (or the computer's audio input) Logic's plugins cannot stop peaks as Software is -after- the the hardware input. If you're getting peaks recording through hardware you will need to bring down input levels.

    Find the solution what i opted. Recording will not work as the failed messages in SOST can't be recorded.
    I have find the solution by using FM 'SX_SNDREC_SELECT' and got the Error once.
    Using 'perform requeue using    lt_resend changing counter'
    from standard send the error mails into the Queue.
    This solution will be helpful.

  • Unable to insert program lines in event sort begin and sort end

    Hello friends,
    I am developing a smartform where in I have to print subtotal for every currencies. So I am unsing the sort criteria option and giving the WAERS in 'Data' tab of the Table . And I select 'Event on Sort Begin' which creates a node in the tree under the table. And I need to clear the total variable in this event so that for every new currency, the total is reset. But I am unable to create a program lines here. When I right click and under  flow logic, only Loop and Command options are available. I am using ECC 6.0 . Kindly help me in achieving the solution.

    I tried that.. I am able to create a program lines when I right click on the table. But it always gets placed outside the table node. When I try to drag it also to under the sort begin event node, it says 'Unable to insert program lines at the selected position'. Basically for my logic to work , it has to execute this program lines when the sort begin event occurs.

  • Overlay mode won't display recorded programs

    I have an MSI GeForce4 MX440-VTD AGP8X card and a Leadtek Winfast 2000XP TV Deluxe tuner card.  Using overlay mode, I can easily redirect the normal cable output from the Winfast PVR application to my TV, and it looks perfectly fine.
    However, when I open a stored video file recorded by the Winfast PVR and try to redirect it to the TV, the video will not display....I only get a black screen or a frozen screen of the last image from the analog cable stream.  Overlay mode only plays the incoming analog cable signal and simply refuses to display the playing recorded program.
    Audio works perfectly.
    Yes, I can play the application in overlay mode with Windows Media Player, but then I lose the ability to use the PVR's remote control to fast forward thru commercials, etc.
    I have the latest BIOS on the VGA card and the latest mobo (K7N420D-PRO) bios, and have tried nvidia driver versions 43.45 (currently) and 41.09.  I have even tried turning off overlay mode, starting the recorded program in the PVR, and enabling overlay mode while it's running...no different - just a black screen.
    This is the primary functionality I needed in order to turn my bedroom pc into a PVR, and yet it does not work.
    Any help or suggestions would be appreciated...

    I'll try and do my best to describe what it is I'm doing.
    I've started out with a “flat” image of a product on a white background with a shadow on it. I need to make the background transparent and so that all I’m left with is the product with the shadow on a transparent background.I want to be able to place this image over another image in indesign and have the background remain transparent.
    On the first layer I have a clipped out version of the product with no background (All by itself with no background or shadow). On the second layer I have the original “flat” image with the shadow and white background. On this layer I’ve used the multiply blending mode to remove the white background.
    Now that I have the product on one layer by itself and the product and shadow on layer two with the multiply blending mode I have an image of the product with a shadow with no background. When I place this into indesign, my image shows up with the white background as if the multiply blending mode isn’t applied.
    I’ve tried this on other images. It doesn’t appear that it lets you bring an image over with that blending mode. It's like I'd have to bring over a clipped image and then place that on top of my original image with a blending mode placed on it "in" Indesign.
    Hope that make sense?

  • 60-minute recorded program stops at the 49-minute mark

    On Tuesday, our DVR (QIP2708)- recorded a regularly-scheduled show from 8:00 to 9:00. In the DVR's recorded programs, it showed as 59 minutes, 45 seconds (roughly). Watched the show until about the 49-minute mark, but the recording stopped abruptly and returned to the DVR menu. Hitting "resume playback" results in the last 2-3 seconds playing, then it just returns to the menu.
    I tried fast-forwarding and skipping to the end, with no positive result. Once it gets to this 49-minute mark, it just stops, even though the progress bar shows a 59-minute recording. I manually reset the STB with no luck. Even tried watching on a remote STB but the result was the same. There's no error message displayed; the recording just stops.
    It seems, just before the issue happens at the 49-minute mark, that the recorded program starts "skipping frames". I'd almost say that the video frames are "out of sync".
    We had no power outage on Tuesday, and as far as I know, everything "FiOS" was working fine, as we were watching another program at the time this recording was taking place and we're constantly using a PC someplace in the house. I'm suspecting the recorded file is just corrupt, but I'm wondering if anybody else has seen this problem....?
    I can go back and finish watching the show via the broadcast network's online library, but feel I shouldn't have to do that. I'm also wondering if this is indicative of a hard-drive problem in the DVR. (Certainly, if it appears more often, I'll request a replacement.)

    Now is this the only program where you've experienced this issue? Can you test a few other programs and see if you get similar results?If the problem is on-going, then yes we can easily ship you out a replacement DVR. It's possible the channel had an outage and went off the air for a short bit aswell so could be a freak occurance.

    I really appreciate your effort. I don't understand the gear in your response saying with certified driver and such and using the same gear with a windows laptop/com... to rule out the thin client firmware, Please can you  explain a little bit with
    basics. For the firmware update i will try it in one of it. Thanks, will be expecting a feedback from you and anyone else can also comment. I want to be sure of the firmware thin before making any changes because when doing any firmware upgrade/update, someone
    needs to be careful.
