Please help to resolve my Siebel v8.2.2 OVM instance on Exalogic.
I am not able to restart siebel server. Tried with kill -9 <PID> commands to terminate 2 of the "start_server all" processes in the exalogic server but no success.

Those processes highlighted in blue color are those one that is currently stuck and can not be terminated. Is this the main reason that stopping the Siebel server to restart?

Linked Server unable to Connect in SQL Server 2012 after Restarting SQL Server Service it works fine. Why?

I have created a Linked Server to Access Database of 64 MB in Size located in Remote System to SQL Server 2012.In Start for Some time it works fine and after it is giving the Error

Previously I thought it as Permission Issue. By trying some fixes proposed in forums it not fixed. But, after restarting the SQL Server Services without changes to the linked Server it works perfectly. How could i fix it. I don't want restart the SQL Server
Service it leads to Some other process failures.

for to fix above error i have followed the instructions in the following link,

This also failed to work. I Restarted SQL Server and make the Linked Server Properties Default to my Configuration and it works fine.

Unable to install Siebel patch 7.8.2.16

Hi all,
I have to upgrade from Siebel 7.8.2.12 to 7.8.2.16.
When I tried to install Siebel Enterprise Server in our siebel server, it raised an error message looking like "Unable to install Siebel Enterprise Server: Patch is associated with a product that is not installed on target machine". I find that the pacht version is not right, that i am trying to patch a SEA version with a SIA version, but i can´t find the correct patch in support.
I would appreciate if you have any insight to this problem.

SQL server service reboot cause the Buffer Data to flush

Could someone please let me know if I just reboot SQL service on Production SQL Server that Causes to remove all Data cached in Buffer cache ? Is reboot SQL service also flush Procedure cache ?

Hi Daizy,
Restart of SQL Server Service is the similar with restarting of the applications. All your caches will be flushed.
Usually, you would not experience any data loss (transaction log records are hardened on the disk synchronously) with exception of transactions with delayed durability in SQL Server 2014. However, all your uncommitted transactions would be rolled back.
Do not forget that reboot would cause performance degradation (data and plans are not cached), database restarts and a few other things. It could be more efficient to use one of the DBCC
commands to cleanup specific cache rather than reboot the service.

Unable to restart the Microsoft Software Protection Platform service from command line - Win81 MS Office 2013 SP1

I'm unable to restart the Microsoft Software Protection Platform service on a Windows 8.1 laptop for MS Office 2013 SP1 (32-bit) using the following command:
cscript ospp.vbs /osppsvcrestart (issued from C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15)
When this is run, a window appears with the title ospp.vbs and the text "Error: The Software Protection Platform service is not installed"
I verified that the service is installed in services.msc, and was able to manually stop and restart the SPP service in the Services console without issue.
The command runs correctly when restarting the MS Office 2013 SPP on Windows 7 devices.
Has anyone else seen this or have a solution for it?
The reason that I am attempting to restart the service from the command line is because this command is part of a script to change the KMS server IP Address used by OSPP prior to software activation.
The only other options that I have at this time is to ask the users to reboot, or manually force a reboot. This is both time consuming and disruptive to the users.
The Fix It tool to remove MS Office 2013 was run, and the MS Office 2013 software was successfully reinstalled after a reboot. The software was successfully activated. When the command was run, it produced the same exact error.

I am able to reproduce this on my own machine, but in my case, I don't see the specific service running in the Services console.
I would like first confirm that whether you've the right service running on your Windows 8.1 system. The display name of this service should be "Office Software Protection Platform", service name is "osppsvc".
You can also check this by going to below path where you should see the executable file (OSPPSVC.EXE) if the service is installed on your system (in my case, the folder is empty):
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform

Hi Ravi,
Per my knowledge, there is no Analysis Service in SharePoint.
After running the SQL 2014 setup to install PowerPivot for SharePoint, you need to open the PowerPivot for SharePoint 2013 Configuration tool in Central Admin Server and configure PowerPivot for SharePoint.
After that, you will see new Service Application called "Default PowerPivot Service Application" in Central Administration.
If you have other WFE servers, then you need to install the PowerPivot Add-In on all the other servers in the SharePoint farm.

Please check if you have started the Oracle BI Java host service.
Check if the OC4j is started.
Check the event viewer logs. Also check on what account the service is starting.

Unable start my OBIEE server Services

Hi,
When i stop and start by OBIEE server service, after replacing the new rpd file, i am getting an application error::
The instruction at "0x6fd6293d" referenced memory ar "0x00000010". The memory could not be "Read"
After clicking on OK throwing an error:
error 1053 the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion
The server is getting restarted if i place with an other rpd file. The NQServer log is also not having any traces of aborting below are last lines of the server log.

Unable to restart MDM Server

Hi All,
I am using MDM SP4. We have a repository Z_ATLAS_MATERIAL_P_TST in SP4. Yesterday I tried to rename this repository but I was not aware that in SP4 we can't rename repository...it's a bug. So, when I renamed this repository to Z_ATLAS_MATERIAL_P_TST1 it gave me error "MDM Repository is invalid" and after 2-3 mins the console window get closed.
Then I tried several times to mount that MDM server in new console session but everytime console gets terminated.
But in the background MDM server and SQL server were running.
Today, when I restarted the MDM server,it ran for 1-2 mins then it got terminated abrubtly.
Can any one of please suggest what could be the reason and how to resolve it.

Hi Varun,
We also faced with such problem. First try to re install MDM Console client, even though if it doesnt start then try to restart your services through services.msc in the RUN. Restart your MDM server, Listeners and Database Services.

Restart Orchestrator server service failed with error 1053

Hi,
I'm using Orchestrator 6.0. I always get an error 1053 after restart Orchestrator server service.
And no matter how many times I restart my OS, the Orchestrator server service cannot be started any longer.
Does anyone can help on this?
By the way, if I installed a vCenter server 6.0 and Orchestrator 6.0 on a same machine, Orchestrator would always get this error. But if I installed them on different machines, Orchestrator server service can running well sometimes. Is there any limitation when install vCenter server 6.0 and Orchestrator 6.0?

Is the orchestrator configurator service running? If so, log in to https://<orchestratorserver>:8283 and take a look on the configuration. If not, take a look to the logs of the vRO service and if you like, post em here.

Application unable to identify the managed server after restart

          I have a application deployed in a cluster in production environment which has two managed servers configured to it in separate machines. this application generates a wsdl file.
          now we are facing a strange problem as below.
          when one managed server crashes and goes down in some situation, the cluster is able to manage it.
          we have a class which does remote binding of objects.
          Even when we restart the second server it is not able to identify it.

I tried starting the server from the console as well as from command prompt. Here I am giving the command below.
