Unable to search icloud inbox in Outlook 2013, Windows 8.1

HI,
I hope someone can help, I've been struggling with this for a few weeks.
I largely use my iPad and iPhone for email but have recently been more reliant on my Windows laptop as I have need to create items in office and it's simply easier on the large screen.
Outlook and iCloud integration has however been a constant source of frustration. I have almost got it, including the work around to subscribe to the sent items folder and create a rule.
The one thing now causing me frustration is that I am unable to search the iCloud inbox. When I type a search string it simply sits in 'searching' even though the message is there. This is strange as I can search all other iCloud folders and even right clicking on a message and selecting find messages in conversation works.
I have tries rebuilding the index.
As a side note, as it might be related, every time I open Outlook I receive the message 'For best performance, iCloud should not be set as the default data file. You can change this setting in Windows Control Panel under Mail, Data Files.' As I'm not sure what this means I've not done this.
I'm sure I can't be the only person with this frustration and I really hope someone has a neat solution.

I have had the same problem.
I have deleted the icloud account in Outlook and reinstalled it again by "icloud system control".
Now I am able to access my icloud calender, etc. again.

I was having some issues with icloud syncing with outlook 2013 on my windows 8 PC, so i uninstalled it and re-installed.   Ever since then, i have not been able to even get icloud for windows set up. I keep getting an error in the final stage of the setup after i tick the box on outlook calendar, contacts and tasks in the control panel. The error i get is: "Your setup couldn't be started because the iCloud server stopped responding." When I hit the report button, the following eror comes up in the email: Error: 0x80004005: HTTP Error 503.
have uninstalled, restarted, downloaded a fresh version and re-installed then restarted again but this didn't work.
Any new ideas?

You will notice that Outlook 2013 does not appear in any of that. Which means it is not supported. Which means it cannot be expected to function.

I have been running Outlook 2013 for a couple of weeks now using W8 64bit.
It works with iCloud and is a little flakey, what I've found.
1. 4 X Junk Folders.
2. Some emails cannot be moved into saved folder, saying message has changed, but opening in outlook safe
mode allows move.
3. Sent Items (this computer only) and Sent Messages, so you have to move emails from Sent Items to Sent
Messages if you want them to sync across devices.
4. Icloud control panel say's there is a problem and not syncing but it is no problem.
I can live with the bugs, but I wish the last icloud update would have corrected the issues.

The menu selection only shows the other options if you already have a selection active; a selection made with one of the available tools like lasso or quick selection. First select with the tools, then use the menu 'Select'.

Windows Search not working for Outlook 2013

Hello,
I am running Outlook 2013 under Windows7 Pro. The search within Outlook works perfect, but I am used to also get Outlook results from the Windows Search under the "Start" menu: Office documents are beeing displayed but no Outlook Mails as it used
to be under Outlook 2010.
Can someone help ?

What I can consider is Conditional Formatting and font in message body.

Search for mail in Outlook 2013 does not have all emails in result.

Hi, we have a user that tries to search for a sertain mail in her mailbox, and when she searches, a few mail comes up, but the one she knows is there, and that fits the search pattern, is not listed in the results.
We have tried to reindex the database the user was on, we have moved her to another database, and none of these have given us the result we want.
We have also removed the checkmark in "Search" in Outlook for "Improve search speed by limiting the number of results shown".
If she does the same search in OWA or Outlook 2010, the result is as expected, but in Outlook 2013, it is not.
Has anyone experienced this, and if so, what could be done to solve it?
Google(Bing) produces very little results that are relevant to this for me.
Hope someone here has an answer :)

Unable to open iCloud folders in Outlook after upgrading to Windows 8.1

I have upgraded to Windows 8.1 yesterday, when I open my Outlook 2013, the iCloud in Calendar and People (contact) are not working. The error message is "The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened".
I have reinstalled iCloud add in from Apple, it still cannot resolve the problem.

I have had the same problem.
I have deleted the icloud account in Outlook and reinstalled it again by "icloud system control".
Now I am able to access my icloud calender, etc. again.

Returning more than 250 search result hits in Outlook 2013

Hi,
I need to search over a very large amount of emails. My searches each have more than 250 hits, and I need to see all results. Currently, Outlook is limiting the number of results to 250.
I have gone to File > Options > Search, and unticked 'Improve search speed by limiting the number of results shown'.
I have also amended my registry, per this article:

I have restarted my machine, but I am still getting only 250 results.
Does anybody have further suggestions that I can try?

I tested the registry setting, but it didn't work in my environment.
By default, when we do an instant research in Outlook 2013, it shows the first 30 matches. If we click
More below the results, we will get up to 250 results. However, if we clear the 'Improve search speed by limiting the number of results shown' option, Outlook will bypass the limit and show all results matched. See:

Please try to delete the registry and untick the 'Improve search speed by limiting the number of results shown' option, restart your Outlook and then check if the option will be ticked again.

Cannot edit icloud events in outlook 2013

I have a new surface pro 3 running office 365, which I'm told by Microsoft store is just a license of Office 2013, and that there shouldn't be unique hardware compatibility issues with icloud.
All of my data has been in icloud, my family has iphones and macs as well as pcs. I'm trying to operate on both MS and OS/iOS platforms.
The icloud control panel program is installed and all of my email folders and calendars and contacts populated Outlook after some work..
However, when attempting to edit any calendar appointment in Outlook on one of my iCloud calendars I get an error:
"This item cannot be saved to this folder. The folder was deleted or moved, or you do not have permission. Do you want to save a copy of it in the default folder for the item?"
Saying yes to this makes a copy of the appointment, as edited, in the default Outlook calendar, for which I have no use as it will no longer be shared with the appropriate party as the icloud calendar is. I need the appointment to stay where it is, but just accept the changes.
A few weeks ago a senior apple tech told me that icloud control panel does not support the surface when that seemed like the question to ask. After reading countless frustrated threads like this one, it seems that support of Outlook 2013 is the issue, although an 18 month old issue at that.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. We'll try our best to resolve the problem.
Can you see the read emails from web access?
What happens when you click "All"? Did you get a message "We didn't find anything to show here"?
Please try to switch to another View to check if the issue persists. Click
VIEW tab > Change View > select another view to check if the "All" works properly.
We can also try to start Outlook with /cleanviews command-line switch to check the result. Exit Outlook, press Windows key + R to open the Run command and then type
outlook.exe /cleanviews, press Enter to check if this fix the problem.
Please let me know the result.

I successfully installed and configured the iCloud control panel 3.1 and I am able to sync up my outlook calendar with my iPhone and iPad. However, I now can’t receive or send invites from/to other people from Outlook or my i-devices. If someone sends me a calendar invite, it never shows up on the outlook calendar/i-devices and conversely if I send an invite to someone other than myself from either Outlook or any of my i-devices the recipient never gets it. I noticed after configuring iCloud that my local Outlook calendar disappeared and ended up in my gmail “trash folder” after the iCloud program uploaded my calendar to iCloud.
I followed all available tips I could find to solve this problem but no luck. If anybody has a similar issue and found a cure, please let me know – any help is much appreciated!

Unable to expand public folder in Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2013 CU6

Hello,
we have just migrated Exchange 2010 to 2013. Everything works great, except public folders, which we are not able to expand in Outlook 2013. Public folders can be added to OWA without any problem, so just the Outlook 2013 is a problem (we never tried any
other version, as all the e-mail clients installed here are Outlook 2013).
The public folders are visible under node Favorities in Outlook 2013, but whenever we click any folder, the Public folders disappear completely from the left navigation pane or the message is shown on the right pane, that the public folder cannot be opened.
When Outlook is started, a dialog is sometimes opened, which contains prefilled Microsoft exchange server, mailbox, button Check name, which is disabled. The only thing which can be done with that dialog is clicking the button Ok.
Any help is appreciated, the desperation level starts to be reaching max threshold.

Thank you for your quick response. I have tried removing and creating new Outlook profile many times, without any effect.
1) When I switch to the online mode, only the node All Public Folders is displayed in the left navigation pane and after I start the Outlook the dialog mentioned above is displayed. The node Favourities is not visible.
2) In offline node, node App Public folders is visible and whenever I click it, message "Cannot expand the folder" is shown. After checking Download favourities, the list of public folders is available, but whenever I click any folder, it shows
"We didn't find anything to show here." and "The folder is up to date." in the bottom status bar. The content is rendered correctly in OWA and these public folders contain many e-mails and subfolders. None of these is rendered in Outlook.
Thanks in advance for any tips and inspiration, we start to run out of ideas. I am more than sure that it will be something simple, but we can't still figure it out.

We have iCloud installed into outlook 2013 but it won't sync

For some reason it just stopped syncing. There is no firewall blocking it. the calendar is the icloud calendar and when we add to it it wont sync to the cloud. If We add something on the iphone or ipad it works but nothing syncs with the pc

Outlook 2013/ Windows 8 emails being deleted

I was away from my laptop (accessing email via iPad & iPhone) for a week in June after installing the new Outlook. I save certain important emails (bills/things I haven't read yet, etc.) in my inbox. When hundreds of new emails came in
that week, all the old emails were deleted & can't be found anywhere to be retrieved. I could still access them on google mail online, but didn't remember every one that I had saved. My previous organization was impossible to retrieve there.
I recently returned from a 2-week trip where, of course, thousands of emails came in to my laptop at home. I accessed all emails on my iPad while I was away. Since so many came in I only got about 8 days' worth of email downloaded into Outlook.
And of course all my older emails I had been saving are gone again...not able to be found anywhere. If I had not moved them into specific folders, they are gone. Any suggestions to prevent this in the future? Settings? Ways to
get these lost emails? No search (even in deleted or spam folders) show these missing emails.

First thing to confirm is which mail account type are you using? Can you still view old messages from web-access?
You can check the steps below:
1. Check if you have created rules to automatically delete or move mails.
2. Check if you have enabled AutoArchive and have set it to automatically delete expired emails.
If you have enabled AutoArchive, to get the lost emails, search archive.pst or *.PST in the local drive.
For Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 on Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 the default location is:
C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Outlook Files\
If you have multiple pst-files you can get an overview via:
File-> Account Settings-> Account Settings-> tab Data Files
Import Outlook items from pst-file to check the result:

Assuming you are using IMAP account, to make sure you don’t lose any of data, you’ll need to create backups of your IMAP pst-file or regularly export the folders:
