Unable to see RAW thumbails in bridge

I'm not seeing RAW tumbnails in bridge CS4, whereas I can see them on the desktop screen when I copy them there. If I browse to these files in bridge again I still can't see the thumbnails, and at the same time it is visible on desktop. I downloaded Pentax drivers, graphic card drivers and moved over files to other locations. Also the open in camera raw function is not lite up in Bridge. Files open by the way when I click on them in Camera Raw. Any suggestions? I'm running Windows Vista. Thanks.

The camera software should not have any influence on how Bridge processes pictures.  One red light is moving files.  If you have edited the RAW files and them moved it, or renamed it,  outside of Bridge you could get the XMP file seperated from the image file (or different name).  If that happens it might cause you loose the thumbnail.  To check this you can look at the folder in Windows Explorer, but as they are hidden files the option to view hidden files must be checked.  While there also check to see if the thumbnals are OK.  If some do not show you may have a contaminated file casusing the problem.
Once you check on this select tools/cache/purge cache for xxx folder (use problem folder).  Let them rebuild and see if you get the thumbnails.

There is an ignore EXIF setting Preferences. I can't remember if that is Bridge or Photoshop, but IIRC it is for DNG files.
Right.  Check Photosho > Preferences > File handling and make sure 'Ignore EXIF tag, is not checked.  I think that might do it, so long as it refers to sidecare files, because only RAW files would have one.

  • Unable to view RAW thumbnails in Bridge since getting new camera

    Hi,
I have just purchased a new camera, and am unable to see the RAW file thumbnails as I would normally, when using the Photo Uploader in Bridge.
    I have Elements 8, on a Mac.
I have downloaded the latest version of ACR, 6.2, in order to recognize the new camer's RAW files.
I can see the RAW image, but only if I open it via PSE8, and not when uploading to the Mac via Bridge. The only way I can see and process the RAW image is if I open the file via PSE8. If I look in Bridge, all I can see are lots of generic thumbnail images from PSE8.
My question mainly is how do I resolve this, as I am used to being able to see all of my RAW files in Bridge, and like using Bridge.
Do I need to update Bridge separately from ACR 6.2?
    Many thanks.

    Hi Barbara,
are you saying that I will not be able to use Bridge with any RAW file taken with the Lumix LX5?
If that is the case, what are m options? I would like to be able to see the thumbnails of the photos I have taken, in a Workspace setting, but at presnt, all I can do is see an individual photo by opening it via PSE8.
This is now extremely cumbersome, and frankly a real pain.
Would there be any advantage to purchasing PSE9?
I would appreciate any help at all.

  • Bridge Raw not working, cannot see Raw image in Bridge

The RAW setting in Bridge is not working. When I open Bridge I can see only icons, no images. The RAW tool icon is grey, not active. I am going on a trip Tomorrow and I need Bridge to be working. It was working earlier.

My Photoshop and bridge is CS4, purchased in 2008, and the canon 5D Mark
11, purchased earlier. I have CR2. The camera and software worked
together fine for all those years.
Now, however, when I click Bridge to open a file containing several
images, I do not get thumbnail images, just a circle with CR 2 and the
    file name, no image.
If I double click one of the circles, the image will open in camera Raw,
and I can edit, and open photoshop and edit again. If I then save a Jpeg
version, I will be able to open it and see the image in Bridge.
The problem is that now if I shoot 100 pictures, I can open Bridge but
there are no thumbnail images, only CR2 and file name.
I hope this can clarify the problem. Camera and software have not been
    changed.
Thank you very much. Please help.

  • Suddenly unable to view RAW previews in bridge

I was recently using bridge and received an error message of some variety saying something about purging the cache so I closed the message and purged the cache.  Now none of my thumbnails are working for any of my RAW files.  I am running PS CS4.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance for your help!

Hmmm....I had 5.6 ACR installed but I can't tell if it's active.  When I try to do what you tell me above the logo for ACR plug in comes up in a box on the screen but then it disappears and nothing happens.  It's just a box that has the logo and version installed then it just takes me back to regular PS.  I did go back into bridge and I am unable to open any of my raw files in ACR, they just go straight to PS and the button on the toolbar is faded out and not letting me click on it.  This is making me think that it's a ACR issue.  I updated my software and my ACR 5.6 was updated with ACR 5.7 but I am still getting the same thing.  I run CS4 so I can't install the ACR 6.X.
What else should I try?  Thanks again for your help.

  • Unable to see raw files in Finder and therefor can't import in aperture

I have loaded my raw files from the CF card (Canon 4DII) into a directory on the Mac. I go into Aperture, select import and select the directory where the files are and none of the raw files appear.
I go into iPhoto and they appear and I am able to import them into iPhoto.
I need to import the files into Aperture. How can I get Aperture to "see" the files in the finder directory?

    Hi New
It doesn't look like your camera is supported, which is why your raw files don't show up to import.
(Check the list here, for sure
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html)
    Mine isn't either.
I use DNG Converter from Adobe (Free) to convert my RAW files to DNG. The .DNG files ( not '.dng') are then readable by Aperture.
You can get the app here: (or just go to Adobe's website)
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/16064
    What I do:
    Open DNG converter
Select the folder with the raw files
    Save in new location:
Select folder: and create a DNG folder inside the original folder with the RAW images)
    File Extension .DNG
    Convert.
When i import into Aperture, I choose the option to 'Store files in their original location' (which is an external drive foe me) ... this way i'm not getting duplicates and taking up more space.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful

  • Unable to see RAW NEF image from Nikon D300 in CS3

Have Camera Raw Plug-in Version 4.0 in my PS CS3 and am not able to see images from my recently purchased used Nikon D300.  I have no problems seeing the NEF images downloaded from my Nikon D80.  I typically download the images from my camera thru Lightroom 2.4.   Do I need a more recent Camera Raw Plug-in?  I want to make sure I'm still compatible with LR.   Any suggestions will be hellpful.

Yes, you are outdated with the RAW plug in and probably not able to use the
correct version that supports your camera.
    You have two options:
1- upgrade to CS4 and benefit from all other good this has to offer
2- If you won't or can't upgrade use the DNG route, DNG is a free offered
(by Adobe) converter. The latest DNG converter will convert your D300 files
to the open DNG format which will show your RAW (then as DNG but still the
same quality) files and you will be able to use it in CS3.
There is lot's of information about in on this page:

  • Unable to see D800 raw files - using Lightroom 3.6 & CS4

    Hi,
I have just purchased a Nikon D800 and I am unable to see the .NEF files within either Lightroom 3.6 or CS4. Can anyone help me? I have read on other forums that you need to install ACR6.7 but those users were all using newer versions of software.  I have downloaded ACR 6.7 - are my programme versions compatible and will LR & Bridge pick up the new version automaticaaly or do I need to do anything? I am running Windows 7.
I'm not sure if this will make any difference but within my camera menu I chose NEF (RAW) recording to be Lossless Compressed.
    Thanks
    Jo

ACR 6.7 can only be used with PS CS5. You will have to use one of the following options.
    1. Use the latest Adobe DNG converter 6.7 to convert your .NEF files to dng (retain a copy of the .NEF's) then you can import into LR 3.6.
    2. Consider upgrading to LR 4, you can download the LR 4.1 RC2 and run for the trial period untill the Final LR 4.1 is released.

    Hi Jdentremont,
Lync client gets user photos by first querying the Address Book Web Query (ABWQ) service on the server, which is exposed through the Distribution List Expansion web service. The client receives
the image file and then copies it to the user's cache to avoid downloading the image each time it needs to be displayed. The attribute values returned from the query are also stored in the cached Address Book Service entry for the user. The Address Book Service
deletes all cached images every 24 hours, which means that it can take up to 24 hours for new user images to be updated in the cache on the server.
To troubleshoot your problem, please follow the steps below:
    1.  Navigate to
     “X:\share\1-WebServices-1\ABfiles\000000000\000000000” folder. (ABS file share)
You should see some photo files in this folder as the following screenshot.
    2. Delete all the files in this folder.
    3. On test PC, delete local cache files.
    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\[email protected]
    4. Sign-in Lync with the test account.
    5. Go back to the ABS file share, check if there is any Photo file in the folder.
    Best regards,
    Eric

I have a Nikon d610 and am using PS CS6. I am unable to download my raw files through Bridge on my mac. I have downloaded the most recent Camera Raw files - 8.7.1 - what should I do next.

The D610 needs ACR 8.3 so you are easily covered there.  I am not entirely clear on the process you are using the bring the files onto your hard drive.  The safest way is to simply bring all the NEF files into a folder on your hard drive, then find them with bridge and open from there.
If still stuck, open Photoshop, and go Help > About plugins > Camera RAW and check that 8.7 installed OK.

I never notied that icon before, and I've been using Bridge for 7 years.
Usually, when you have no image previews for raw files, this means that your Camera Raw plug-in is older than your camera. People always come across this problem when they use a new camera with older software.
To be sure, we need to know which camera you are using, and which version of Camera Raw. To save typing this out for the three-thousandth time, please follow this page which I wrote earlier:
    http://yphotography.co.uk/articles/get-adobe-camera-raw-acr-open-photos/
This covers the subject, which is by far the most commonly asked question about opening raw files by a country mile.
If everything checks out fine, let us know. If not, give us more information and we may be able to fix this for you.
PS. Please just open one discussion per problem. There are three threads on this now. It makes it difficult to follow.

  • Can't open files in Camera Raw while in Bridge CS6

    05/30/2014
Believe this issue/problem happened after automatic update from Adobe (but can't be sure).
Have always uploaded files from camera into Bridge then do some editing by opening JPEG and RAW (NEF) files in Camera Raw from Bridge.
Now, "Open in Camera Raw" is greyed out and I am unable to find a way to open files with Camera Raw from inside Bridge CS6.  This seemed to happen suddenly and without any new software or applications being added to computer.  All other apps/software working well.
Have tried various fixes found on Adobe community discussions without success.  Problem now ongoing for over a week +.
Am able to open files in Photoshop with no problem but want to be able to do some quick edits using Camera Raw opening files from Bridge CS6.
I'm using Bridge CS6 Version 5.0.2.4.  (as part of Adobe Creative Suite 6).  Updater states I have most current version of Bridge installed.
I'm using an iMac computer with Intel Core i7 processor
    OS X 10.8.5
Have found others with this same or very similar problems on forums but either can't understand patches/directions or unable to complete instructions on my computer.
for example see:  Camera RAW update issue with Bridge CS6
From that link/discussion, one finds this "solution":
After you update to Camera Raw 8.4, Bridge CS6 in Mac OS doesn't display image metadata or allow you to edit images in Camera Raw.
    To the top
Manually install the Camera Raw 8.4 plug-in.
    Exit Adobe Bridge.
    Download the file below.
Locate and double-click the downloaded file to decompress it. The resulting file is Camera Raw.plugin.
Navigate to the Macintosh HD folder.
Open the Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS6/File Formats folder.
IMPORTANT: Navigate to the root Library folder on your hard disk, not the Library folder under your user folder.
Copy the Camera Raw.plugin from step 3 into the File Formats folder.
IMPORTANT: This new file overwrites the file already in this folder. It's important that only one Camera Raw.plugin file is in this folder.
    Open Adobe Bridge.
    Camera Raw.plugin.zip
Mac OS Camera Raw 8.4 plug-in for manual installation
However, when I try the above, I have these issues:
    1.  When I double click on the downloaded file, my computer opens PhotoShop and an error message is displayed that states "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."  (I suspect this may mean my computer has automatically decompressed the file, but I am not certain of that).
    2.  Not completely certain I know how to "Navigate to the Macintosh HD folder" as suggested in step 4. above (OK, I'm new to Mac; long-time PC user….)
    3.  When I am in "Finder" and click on "GO" while holding down "Option" key, I find "Library".  within that, I can find "Library/Application Support/Adobe" but there is no "Plug-Ins" folder within the "Adobe" subfolder.
    4.  Not sure how to tell if I am in the "root Library" on my hard disk vs. "Library under my user folder".  (Again, new to Mac….)
I have NOT yet tried doing an "Uninstall" and then Re-installing the whole Adobe Creative Suite 6 and would like to avoid that if possible.
Would absolutely LOVE it if Adobe would simply push an update that would fix this problem or if someone would explain to me how I could restore the earlier version that worked perfectly for me.
Any help, suggestions (in very basic, simple terms that any idiot new to the world of Macintosh can understand) would be appreciated.  Very frustrated with Adobe at the moment.
Mostly have liked the switch to Mac, but with this and my photo workflow coming to a screeching halt, having second thoughts.  (But I suppose Adobe update for PC may cause problems as well.)
Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

    05/30/2014
Literally minutes after I posted the above, I figured this out myself and now I'm a happy camper and things are back to normal!
Here was my error/issue:  as a new Mac user, I was not negotiating/finding files on my hard drive correctly.
In case there are others out there with this same issue (and as dense as I apparently am ):
Here is what I did that resulted in a fix:
    First Steps:
    1. Quit/close Bridge
    2. As noted in post above, go to this link to download Camera Raw Plugin file:
Camera RAW update issue with Bridge CS6
Link to get to download is near end of instructions, but I will attempt to insert that link to download here:
    Camera Raw.plugin.zip
    3.  Once file has been downloaded, find it by using "Finder" Click on "Finder" and look on list of options on left side of Finder window to find "Downloads".  On my computer, when clicking on "Finder" these options appear in the list at the left:
    All My Files
    Airdrop
    Applications
    Desktop
    Documents
    Downloads
    Movies
    Music
    Pictures
    4.  Download you just did should be at or near the top of your downloads list and should be named as "Camera Raw.plugin"  and will be 83.5 MB in size
    5.  I right-clicked (two fingers on touchpad) to bring up drop down options and selected "Copy 'Camera Raw.plugin'" from that list to copy file.
Now, you have copied the plug in that will fix this issue.  The second set of steps below will walk you through how to replace the file that is on your hard drive with this plug in file that you have copied.
Second set of steps (and this is where, as a new Mac user, I was confused initially)
    1. Again, click on "Finder" on your Mac
    2.  On top of screen, find "GO" and click on that.  (You should see "Finder" in the upper right corner of your screen, then "File, Edit, View, GO, Window, Help"  Click on the GO
    3.  In drop down menu that appears, click on "Computer"
    4.  Then, double click on "Macintosh HD" to open your hard drive
    5.  Next, double click on "Library" folder to open that.
    6.  Next, click on "Application Support" folder to open that.
    7.  Then, double click on "Adobe" folder to open that.
    8.  Then, double click  on "Plug Ins" folder to open that
    9.  Now, double click on "CS6" to open that folder.
    10.  Finally, double click on the "File Formats" folder that appears.
    11.  NOW, you should see this:
    12.  Right click (two finger press if using a touch pad) to open window with options.  Select "Paste Item" by clicking on that option.
    13.  You will be prompted with an option to keep existing file OR replace the file.  Choose "Replace" to past the new "Camera Raw.plugin" file to this folder.
Finally, if you now go back and open Bridge CS6, you should be good to go.
Hope that helps someone out there.
Hopefully future updates will from Adobe will be better.

  • Can't preview RAW files in Bridge CC, administrator issue?

Can't preview RAW files in Bridge CC.
When i try to upate Bridge, it says:
Bridge is unable to check for updates, cause it can't connect to the internet or user is logged in as a non-administrative user.
So then i have to log in as a administrative user to the Bridge...and update..
    Can't it be done easier???
I must also say i have also Bridge CS6 installed on pc and there everything is working fine.
    Thx.

1/ Adobe Bridge should be possible to open without administrator issue.
By default it does, something seems wrong with your install
2/the images DO appear first for 2 or 3 seconds , then it turns to a RAW file icon.
Again indicating a wrong install, you see the embedded jpeg previews briefly but then the Raw thumbs should be build. When you see the generic Raw icon this means you don't have the correct version of the ACR plug in installed to match your camera or no converter at all.
    Try this page:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
3/i only succeed in openening Bridge descently , so with ableing to see RAW files , WHEN i go to c:/progamfiles/Adobe/AdobeBridhecc/Bridge.exe
When, If i copy the exe file for opening Bridge CC and i put it on the Desktop, it DOES NOT Preview the RAW files.
Here you have lost me. As a Mac user I'm afraid I don't know nor understand anything about .exe, I download the .dmg file for an application which then automatically opens and I just click on the install icon, provide admin password and serial number once and then start using it without bothering about install ever again
