Unable to send or receive mail through wifi

Hi all
I am on my schools wifi network and I an unable to send or receive any mails through this network. I am able to browse the net on this network but this mail app is giving some problems. These mails work absolutely fine on edge or my home wifi but not the this skool network.
Any one please help.

Try to set up a new account on your phone, put in all the info needed and see if it works. If not, talk to your network administrator to see if you need to set up any security settings that you don't need using your home network.

I think it's trying to open it in a gMail eMail & is losing your gMail password that it needs log into gMail, but not 100% positive.
Have you tried Right clicking or Control+click on the eMail link & choose Copy? Works on some, not others.

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.

If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

Unable to send or receive mail on my Mac Book Pro

I created a new ICloud acct. in mail, but am now unable to send, or receive Messages. My previous acct. just quit, doing it's Job. I have another acct. with my server, Telus, but always used the mac acct. to communicate with Friends, and the Telus one for Business Purposes. Sure would apreciate some Help.

Unable to send Yahoo! mail through Mail

Hello, I'm runnning Mail version 6.6 on my MacBook with Mountain Lion.
My outgoing smtp settings for Yahoo! Mail stopped working a year or more ago. This only affects my MacBook Mail - not my iPhone, iPad or Yahoo! webmail. Other email accounts including gmail and microsoft exchange run fine through the same Mail app.
To try and fix this I have done many things including:

- deleting and re-installing my yahoo account on mac mail (many times...)
- trying a host of different smtp settings. I have tried smtp.mail.yahoo.com, plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com and apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com as the server, and have tried with and without my password, and have tried with and without SSL. I've also tried all the ports.
For a while I had been able to trick the mail client and send yahoo mails through the server for my work email, but this has now stopped.
I would really appreciate some help, as I've contacted Yahoo! and they say that the problem would appear to be with Apple as my settings and account are fine.

My SMTP's Yahoo account is set as
smtp.mail.yahoo.com
use default port (25, 465, 587)
Use SSL
Authentication: Password
Username: [email protected]
Password: your account password

I am unable to send or receive mail when set up to use my apple id any thoughts

Mail has auto sorted all the server info from my apple ID that I put into the mail setup front sheet. Once set up it doesnt receive test mails I send to it, If iI send out I just get a notification devevery falure. Any Ideas?

You can try resetting your iPhone. Make sure to make a backup of your data.

Unable to send or receive mail

During the past several months, I have been experiencing an itermittent problem that prevents me from getting and sending mail on my Mac Mini, iPod touch and iPad 2. I get a message that sez "another client is using the server". As best as I remember, this problem started about the time I bought my iPad 2. Any idea what's causing this?

I did but it makes no sense to me. The examples are extremely vague. How does one know what SPN's are missing? And where do you get the information to set them??? None of that is covered. :-(
I'm still researching this issue. If you have any examples of how to determine what is missing (and the syntax to add them) i'm all ears! (...eyes.)

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

I cannot send or receive mail

For about a month, I was unable to send but could receive mail. Now I am unable to send or receive mail. I also have to force quit mail quite often. I called our internet carrier and made sure our settings were accurate, but I'm still having problems. Any suggestionsz?

Well, installing the Coupon Printer would have no effect on this, so that's not the problem. It could be that your Mail preferences are corrupt, so you should test that like this:
1. Write down all you Mail preferences for all accounts, including your usernames and passwords.
2. Quit Mail.
3. Go to Home/Library/Preferences and remove the com.apple.mail.plist file to the Desktop.
4. Restart Mail, enter all your account information again and test to see if the problem is still there. If it goes away, that was the problem, and you can then delete the preferences file on your Desktop.
Post back with results.

Business card/vCard is exchanged through MMS and not by SMS.
Make sure your MMS is configured and activated and you have cellular data/3G ON while exchanging MMS.

After recent upgrade to 10.4, I am unable to send or receive Apple Mail

I recently upgraded to 10.4.9 from 10.3.9. Since doing so, I cannot send or receive mail. I am not computer literate and have no real idea what to do in this instance. Can anyone help me?

What does “I cannot send or receive mail” mean? What’s the problem exactly? What error messages do you get, if any?
In Mail, open Window > Connection Doctor. What does it say?
Could it be that Mail or this particular account is in an “offline” state? Is the Mailbox > Go Online command enabled or disabled?
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.
Mac OS X 10.4.7 introduced connection issues in Mail as a result of (according to the documentation) “Mail now supports connecting to mail servers through a SOCKS proxy”. Problems caused by that can usually be fixed by going to System Preferences > Network, choosing the network port configuration used to connect to Internet from the Show popup menu and disabling SOCKS Proxy in the Proxies section if it’s enabled.

Unable to send email from MAIL using OS X 10.7.4
For the past couple months, I can recieve but cannot send email messages. Called sever,but was told the problem was with my mail program. On my Mac Book OS X 10.6.8 am able to send but not receive. Any ideas as to solving this dilema?

can you open mail, then preferences accounts please?
Then tell is your outgoing mail server the same as the account you are in? and is the box "use only this server" checked?
If not, it could be that- and then the various mail servers, instead of matching your account willl scramble at random..so no your dot mac mail will NOT go out on your aol server...etc.
See? Open it- then also tell how many mail accounts you have.
