Unable to submit a podcast - it's already been submitted!

First off, this is not a windows only issue. I couldn't find any discussion forum where this obviously belonged so I'll just drop it in here.
Here's the problem.
Many months ago, I submitted my podcast feed to the Store. It was approved and eventually showed up. There were some admin changes that needed to be made and I decided to remove the podcast from the store while those changes were in progress. The podcasts were removed from the store as requested
Now the podcast is the way it should be. The feed URL has not changed. I try to submit the feed URL to the store and I get a message that it has already been submitted.
Is there any way to get hold of the people at Apple who manage the directory to fix this or is there something I can do on my end?

I used to have a podcast that had been accepted on Itunes, but my I began to have problems with my host, so I changed host and created a new podcast, and I submitted my new podcast, Apple refused, and now says the feed has already been submitted? Maybe Itunes thought that I was someone trying to copy my old podcast because I kept the same name, I tried to change the names but it looks like I'm on a blocked list...

There is a procedure for changing the feed URL for a podcast, which it seems you haven't followed: you have to add a special tag to the old feed - just submitting a new feed will have exactly the effect you describe. The proper method is described here:

  • ITunes Producer error - "This playlist has already been submitted"

    Hi,
I'm quite clueless here, and would be glad for any help or reference with this error.
I'm an iTunes content publisher, and wanted to start working with Producer to upload new stuff.
I created a new entry, will all details - but when i'm trying to upload, *i'm getting the following error*
    ITMS-6001: Validation Result:
    (MZPackageValidationResultType#3)Error
    (MZPackageValidationErrorType#4)Unsupported Feature:
"Album "5060105331046">> Track "GBJLH0511053":Error Unsupported Feature:
This playlist has already been submitted to iTunes.
*You can see a screenshot* here -> http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo211/camilla_es/itunesproducererror.jpg
Anyone knows what could be the reason? really desperate to get this solved, as I just can't submit new stuff.
Didn't find any iTunes Producer support forum, so thought to post here. Feel free to refer to any relevant place or people to check with.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
I had the same problem, But just change the Name of the feed and The Link for example:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <rss xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd" version="2.0">
        <channel>
            <title>Timoteos Miami</title>
            <link>http://www.casarocamiami.org/relacionate/jovenes.html</link>
           <language>es</language>
            <copyright>Casa Roca Miami 2012</copyright>
Change it to whatever you want. Submit it, and when it has been approve just change it back.

  • 'it appears the feed has already been submitted'

'it appears the feed has already been submitted'
    Hi,
Having problems with my podcast, it was deleted from itunes due to a fan of the podcast making a logo which was taken off another website (I didn't know this) so due to copyright.
Have changed the logo and am trying to re-submit the podcast and getting the message above. I then asked my podcast host to change to rss feed to something different and it's still coming up with the same message. Can anybody help?

The feed is fine. As your original podcast was apparently removed from the Store you have to re-sumbit as if it were a completely new podcast, at this URL. Unfortunately there is a bug in the automated part of the process which doesn't accept that a podcast has been removed, and if one is submitted with the same title you get the error message you see. I doubt that opening a new account with iTunes will help, though I suppose you could try.
To complicate matters, there is a podcast in the Store called 'HouseNationUK Radio! Podcast', which I take it is nothing to do with you.
If changing the title doesn't get you past this error message I can only refer you to iTunes Support, though I have to say they are usually rather unhelpful and will probably just send you a form message telling you how to submit a podcast (which you already know). To contact them go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'. You will see a link to either 'Express Lane', which will guide you eventually to some contact options, or you may see a link to email them.

  • Get this error: It appears that the feed has already been submitted

I have a podcast named Thorborgs Talkshow.
It was listed in iTunes but Feedburner changed URL's and now I just can't find my show and when i submit my URL:
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/thorborgstalkshow
I get the: It appears that the feed has already been submitted
    What can I do?
    Cheers
    Martin

iTunes knows your podcast only from the feed, not from anything else. If you try to submit from a new URL then iTunes sees this as a new podcast, and if it has the same name as an existing podcast then it will not permit it. There is a procedure for changing a feed's URL:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/whatson/podcasts/specs.html#changing
but it requires you to have access to the original feed in order to add a tag to it instructing iTunes to move to a new feed.
You have only two alternatives: add this tag to the old feed - which knowing Feedburner is likely to be difficult if not impossible: or submit the new feed URL with a slightly changed Title.
However I do think that Feedburner ought to explain to you what they've been playing at, and it does sound as if you may have legitimate grounds for protesting to them and asking them to sort it out - though I can't predict the likelihood of success in this.

  • Itunes: feed has already been submitted error. can't fix it!

after being on itunes for many years, apple recently took down my videocast. i've since corrected the problems. however, every time i try to resubmit it, i get the "feed has already been submitted" error.
i've done everything that's been suggested. i've changed the feed title, pointed to a different source url ("original feed" in feedburner parlance), changed the show description and itunes category. however, i don't want to change the feedburner feed addresss because i don't want to lose all my itunes comments and subscribers, assuming i ever get this fixed.
btw, my feedburner feed addresss that i want to resubmit to itunes is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/chillcastvideo
i've tried contacting apple "support" but sad to say it's a joke, shuffling me around from person to person who gives me "advice" that doesn't work. for an otherwise great company, they're failing here.
so if anyone has anything else for me to try, i'm all ears.
    thanks!
    ryan

hi roger, are you saying apple automatically deletes comments and subcribers for podcasts that have been removed? i ask this because you helped the poster in this thread who was having the same issue: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4943722?start=0&tstart=0
and i looked up his show on itunes and all his older comments are there along with his subscribers. i'm just trying to figure out what he did and do the same.

  • 'Appears this feed has already been submitted.'

    Hello,
I'm trying to get a podcast up and running but have run into a snag. I had set up and submitted my show a couple of weeks ago. Since then I figured out it would probably be a good idea to have a way to track downloads so (due to where I originally hosted the files) I had the show removed from iTunes completely. I have a new host, and run my site's RSS through Feedburner and have submitted the Feedburner feed to iTunes. I get the error message 'It appears this feed has already been submitted.' I've changed the title and the Feedburner link to a couple of different names and tried resubmitting again to no avail.
Is there something I'm missing? I contacted Apple support but got the same canned response that most everyone else gets.
    Thanks for your help,
    James

Thanks for the tip Roger. I found a different area of the Feedburner Optimization tab to change the name and description and that worked fine. I just submitted my show and will change stuff back once it's approved.
You got me looking a little more closely and I appreciate the help!
    James

The missing opening tags problem was caused by your pasting the contents into the forum and is not present in the actual feed. However you have two serious and two minor faults.
    Your media file URL is
    http://phmedia.mediaimages.net:1935/vod/_definst_/mp4:0165/12061_13536.mp4/playl ist.m3u8
This isn't a media file, it's a m3u playlist at 4kB. You need to provide a direct link to your media file and the URL must end with an extension, e.g. mp4
Your 'itunes:image' is a png which appears to be a screenshot: it should be 1400 x 1400 px or the feed won't be accepted, and it must be less the 500kB. You should choose a logo which will work when reduced to the size on the Store page.
You are missing what should be the first line of your feed:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    Your 'pubdate' tag reads
    <pubDate>Thu Feb 20 02:39:12 EST 2014</pubDate>
There should be a comma after the 'Thu' and the '2014' should be after 'Feb', not at the end.
    Your 'itunes:duration' tag reads
    <itunes:duration>0:0:29</itunes:duration>
    It should read
    <itunes:duration>0:00:29</itunes:duration>
These last three are not fatal but should be addressed.
Finally, your title is 'iTunes1' which is valid but not a good title. You should choose something which gives an idea of the content.

  • I have two .xml files with one audio .mp3 file each; one that has been submitted to itunes and accepted. When I try to submit the other .xml file to itunes, with a different .mp3 audio file and changed metadata, Itunes says it has already been submitted.

    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/village-parkway-baptist-church/id520252317

iTunes is using your feed at http://vpbc.downloadsvr.com/Podcasts/Audio%20podcasts/VPBC%2004152012%20audio%20 podcast%20945%20service.xml
When you want to add a new episodes to your podcast you don't make a new feed: you add the episode to the existing feed, then subscribers will see it immediately and the iTunes Store will pick it up in 1-2 days. You don't need to resubmit the feed - indeed you can't.

  • Feed has already been submitted

My feed is not listed in iTunes store. The address is http://feeds.feedburner.com/LaHaciendaTreatmentCenter
If the feed is listed please remove it from iTuens.

You need to contact the iTunes people from Apple. We are just other users here, like yourself.
    Best of luck.

  • Podcasts show as already submitted

I recently had 3 podcasts removed from your iTunes store because I am changing the feed and, since I can't edit or change the source code on the prior feed (at Mevio), I had to have them canceled/removed, with the intent to resubmit them.
    All three podcasts...
    1. Podcast for Dummys
    2. Gracie Sez Hai
    3. Topical Vacation
...were removed as requested. As of early yesterday there are no traces of the show or any episodes when doing a search on any of them.
When attempting to submit the new podcast RSS feeds for any of the three, I get the message "podcast appears to already have been submitted" (to paraphrase). I understand that this is because it recognizes the title information in the podcast as being the same as what I previously had, however, again, those podcasts have been removed, so they should not be showing as having already been submitted.
Additionally, I could understand if perhaps these new feeds were already being reviewed - thus the message above - however, I have not received any email notifying me that this is the case. I know that were one to be sent, I should receive it, as another podcast I just submitted (which hadn't had a previous incarnation on iTunes) went through the submission, notification and acceptance process with no problems.
At this point, what is keeping me from being able to submit these feeds if the previous podcasts have been removed? Do I have to wait for some time to be able to submit them or have they already been submitted with their new feed successfully? Who would I contact to find out?
Thank you. I'm happy to answer any questions in order to sort this out.

It doesn't say anything about "Other iTunes Store Features" but it does have "iTunes U & Podcasts". However, in whatever way I get to the Express Lane, it keeps on asking for an order number (presumably from the store), and won't let me continue.
For now I guess I'll have to try just changing the name and hope I can change it back. Until I can get a hold of someone at Apple, anyway.
    Thanks Roger!

  • HT3281 Re submit a Podcast

    I received the below message.
The following podcast has not been included in the iTunes podcast directory.
    Name: My Podcast Site
    Feed URL: http://dialogueprogram.podbean.com/feed/
But then I fixed the feed with Podbean. I tried to submit my feed again and the error message said, “The feed has already been submitted.”
How do I re-submit the fixed feed?

You've fallen over a bug in the automated part of the submissions process whereby you are told a feed has already been submitted even if it was subsequently rejected or removed. The workaround is to change the title slightly - you can change it back once accepted provided doing so does not change the feed URL. If you can change the feed filename, and hence its URL, this is also a good idea, as is changing the URL in the 'link' tag (this can easily be changed back afterwards).

  • I tried to submit my podcast but showed difficulty in downloading and later showed already submitted please help!

I tried to submit my podcast but showed difficulty in downloading and later showed already submitted please help!

If your podcast was submitted but rejected for any reason then the automated part of the submissions process will give you that error despite the rejection - I assume it's a bug. The workaround is to change the title slightly.
But if they had difficulty downloading (what? - the feed, or the episodes - didn't they say) then you have a technical problem you need to address. Obviously I can't advise any further unless you care to post your feed URL.

  • Unable to submit podcast due "Enable byte range requests" error

Hi, I'm trying to submit a podcast feed but the "enable byte range requests" error shows, I'm in the full control of the server so I've tested from another server and the header seems to be correct:

  • When I synch my iPod w. new MacBook Pro, laptop doesn't show which podcasts I've already listened to on the iPod.  (My old MacBook did do that.)

I used to download new podcasts to my old MacBook, plug in my iPod, click the Synch button, and not only did the new podcasts get copied from the laptop to the iPod, but iTunes on my laptop would show which podcasts I'd already listened to, so it was easy to delete the old stuff, synch again, and the old podcasts would be gone from both the laptop and the iPod.
When I try to do the same thing with my new MacBook Pro (which I set up using  the Migration Assistant to copy apps, including iTunes, from my old laptop), that doesn't happen:  When I download a new podcast, plug in my iPod, and hit Synch, the new podcast isn't copied, nor does iTunes show which podcasts I've listened to since the iPod was plugged in the last time.
What used to be quick and easy is now cumberson and, because it's hard to remember which podcasts I've listed to and which I havened, error-prone!
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The installer DMG will be in the Applications folder
I haven't tested this, but it seems somewhat at odds with this recent MacWorld article, which gives a method for "capturing" the Lion installer downloaded via the Recovery HD, and then creating a bootable installer volume from it.
Create a bootable Lion install drive for newer Macs
The article is meant for Macs that came pre-installed with Lion and therefore can't use the App store. The article describes a procedure to retrieve the Lion download not from /Applications but from a folder named "Mac OS X Install Data" which gets created at the root of the drive where Lion is to be installed. It's tricky, because normally that installer self-launches immediately after the download, and then deletes itself afterwards.
They distinguish this procedure from an earlier, simpler one that can be used if Lion gets downloaded via the App store - they reference an earlier article for that situation, which does involve retrieving the installer from /Applications. That method has been publicized in many places.
The inference for me was  that the Recovery HD does not download anything to /Applications - otherwise the earlier procedure would work, and this new article would be unnecessary.  As I said, thoiugh, I haven't tested anything.
