Unable to sync contacts with Outlook 2011

I have just bought a new macbook air with new outlook 2011.
I have followed all the instructions but still cannot manage to sync my outlook contacts with iphone contacts and viceversa. It does work with the calendar so this seems very odd. I am a mac newbie. can please somebody help me?
thank you

The comment from Apple support was partially true.  If you search the web you will find that Office 2011 (latest Mac version of Office) has never been able to sync with an iPhone.  Older versions (maybe), and Windows versions possibly, but not the latest Mac version.  MS changed the format of just about everything in Outlook 2011.  It was MS that broke the iTunes ability to sync, not Apple.
So, even though Office 2011 works just fine on a Mac, you loose the ability to sync with your iPhone.  Thank the folks in Redmond for this.

Well considering it's a Microsoft product you are having trouble with you can either post to the iCloud forum or you can post to the Office for Mac Product Forums.

  • Trying to link Address Book Contacts with Outlook 2011 - iSync??

    Hi There,
Would be grateful for some assistance.
I've got all my contacts and other things in iCloud - wonderful!
I've managed to get all my contacts from iCloud to show up in Address book.
I want to sync my address book contacts in Outlook 2011 - after three days of trying I'm still stuck.
I've checked the Syncing set up in Outlook, that appears to be correct.
I've checked addressbook, and other than having two folders one entitles iCloud (which has everything I need in it) and one entitled On my Mac, which has a couple of testers in it but nothing else, everything else seems fine.
I've checked that iCloud is synching into the iCloud folder in Address Book by putting some stuff on my iPhone and seeing it got pushed from the iCloud to my MacBook - all working fine there.
I have read lots of forum posts and keep seeing references to iSync, and how its on all Mac's but then I see people saying that its not on with Lion - I'm running Lion, and I can't find iSync...so this would seem to be true.
Can anyone tell me how I might achieve this sync process - I would much rather be using an integrated programme like Outlook...any thoughts

Enthusiast: I just got back from the Apple Store. This is the solution they suggested and seems to work. We got rid of iCloud contacts. We just set up Yahoo account in the "mail, contacts, calendars" of the iPhone. Under the "contacts" section we have the "default Account" set to Yahoo. When any additions/delete/mods happen then it is updated on Yahoo.
On the MacBook we deleted the "on My Computer" and deleted "iCloud" and then added the Yahoo account for synching. This is basically used as a secondary backup for the yahoo contact and used if using the computer. It is not necessary to use the computer for any of this.
I've been having lots of problems with Yahoo contacts. I had previously pulled in facebook contacts. This was NOT a good idea. I cleaned up my contacts, exported them out to CSV. Scrubbed some more. Imported them to a new yahoo account. Then deleted all contacts from my main Yahoo, permanently deleting them. Then imported my contacts. I did lose all my "lists" settings. That was a small price to pay.
Now iPhone, iPad and MacBook address book and Yahoo are all in sync.
I was shown at the store is to refresh the Yahoo webpage (CTRL R) and then refresh the contacts on the iPhone. There is a slight delay in update. iCloud is faster at it. But its best to avoid iCloud if you are using Yahoo contacts. Also avoid Facebook contacts. If you really want to use the Facebook feature, I would do it on a different account and then bring in the contacts that you want through an import.
I was having problems with Yahoo contacts and it might be that it was being flaky or they were experiencing problems ... because all of a sudden it started working again. I've seen similar problems with Yahoo Calendar.

  • Iphone4 won't sync contact with Outlook/Exchange 2007 - can't afford to lose these contacts either

    Hello,
I have a user who has been using an iPhone 4 for over a year now, and has built up a large list of Contacts on the device. Unfortunately, unlike every other iPhone user, his Contacts have not been sync'ing with Outlook.
I know I can go into "Settings", "Mail, Contacts, Calendar", Contacts and "Default Account" and change it here. However, I do not want to lose any of these iPhone Contacts. I would like to be able to back them up, and then sync them into Outlook.
Can someone please advise on the safest steps to do this?
    Thank you,
    Liam

A couple of weeks ago a similar question was posted and a member responded with the following link
    http://www.iphonebackupextractor.com/
I haven't tried it since we force encrypt our backups through IPCU, but is looks intriguing and like it might work for you.  According to their web page they export backed up contacts to a csv file so they could be imported into the Outlook client....hope this helps.

  • My 3gs won't sync contacts with outlook 2007

No matter what i try, i can't get my 3gs to sync my contacts with outlook 2007.
Anybody had this problem and figure it out?

What have you tried so far?
Which iOS is your phone running on?
    Basic troubleshooting steps.
    1) Connect your phone to iTunes; click on your phone's name; Select "sync conatcts with outlook" from the other window.
    2) Make sure your outlook is configured to a mail account. If you don't use mail account on outlook, configure it anyhow.

  • HT1296 Unable to Sync Contacts with Computer

I am having problems with my attempts to upload the Contacts in my iPhone, to my PC/laptop.  I'm following a guide which contains screen grabs, but my screen doesn't look like what is shown and so I cannot proceed as I wish to.
I have no option to select 'Sync Contacts With' as the screen I am taken to under the Options Menu has a heading that says Sync Contacts with a box underneath that says:
Your contacts are being synced with your iPhone over the air from Cloud
Over-the-air sync settings can be changed on your iPhone
There are no boxes to check, whatsoever.
Can anyone help with this, please?
    Thanks

You can only sync contacts with one source. You are currently synching with iCloud, so if you want to sync with your computer you will have to turn off iCloud sync.

I'm having issues syncing contacts from outlook 2003 (windows)- nothing comes over - any thoughts?
-IBM Laptop - Windows XP/SP2, latest phone software has been updated

If the iphone goes through the sync and nothing is moved to the iphone, there might be something blocking the sync.
Here is an article from the apple support website that might help in finding out if there is something blocking the sync.

  • Syncing contacts with outlook

I finally have my first issue. My iPhone 4 simply won't sync with outlook. I've tried changing it to windows and back to outlook, but nothing works. I'm glad I had saved my contacts through funambol or I'd be screwed. Anyone have a clue what could be going on??? I could easily sync with the 3G and 3GS with no issues, but it's not working with the new phone.

Thanks, but I'm familiar with these steps. Outlook was syncing with my 3GS with no problems, but it's an issue with the new iPhone 4. Very strange!!!

  • Unable to Sync iphone with outlook 2003

    hi
I have two PCs - one at home and one at office. The PC at home went perfectly (outlook 2007).
I could not sync the contacts and calendars in the outlook 2003 in my office PC with iphone (via itune). I got the error message that "either there is no default mail clinet or mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please turn your outlook as default mail client" but I checked and the outlook was set as default mail client. Pls help
Not sure because the office PC oputlook mail is atatched to the office outlook exchange mail server (while my home PV is attached normal ISP)

I have been having a problem syncing my contacts from outlook 2003 to the iPhone since upgrading to firmware 1.1.3 and iTunes 7.6.
My solution was to exit outlook completely, then run task manager and terminate any outlook tasks that are hanging around. Then (one time only) copy contacts to the iphone by clicking the appropriate box in iTunes. After that it's been syncing normally (as long as no outlook tasks are running).

  • Syncing contacts with Outlook removes "display as" name in Outlook

    *MacBook Air
*VMware with XP SP2 and Outlook 2007
*Outlook account is "@mac.com" setup as IMAP
When syncing contacts, the email address is stripped from the outlook address book. The info is still there in Outlooks "Contacts", but not in the "Address Book".
The Address Book is access from Tools > Address Book. Or when creating a new email and pressing the "To:" button.
After the iPhone syncs with Outlook, the Outlook email addresses are stripped from the "To:" address book making it impossible to add a usable email address to the new message. A name shows up in the "To:" field, won't send, b/c Outlook doesn't recognize an email addy connected with the name.
Does your address book maintains email addresses after a sync?

Contacts and Calendar sync correctly otherwise.

  • ITunes does not sync contacts with outlook

    Hi,
After upgrading from office 2003 to 2013 no contact is being synced with my iPhone over iTunes (I'm using Windows-7).
When selecting "sync" it says that syncing is in progress and it takes a while to complete the syncing but no contact is being synced with outlook contacts.
Uninstalling and reintalling of iTunes didn't help.
    Thanks

iDevices can only be synced via iCloud or to a supported application on the computer via iTunes, but not both.  Turn off syncing via iCloud to enable the option in iTunes on the computer.
