UNICODE: more than six languages

Hello,
we have a worldwide hr system with a portal and an abap system using ess/mss. The system is running with ECC 6.0. At the moment six languages are installed. System is running with unicode. We have a request to install serveral additional languages. What would be the impact, if we for example install six or more languages? Is there a maxiumum of languages in one sap system sap supports? Has each additional language a huge impact in speed of importing support packages? Or database growth?

Hi Alexander,
there is no limit for multiple languages, but SAP has only 36 (or 38 - I'm not sure) languages. We run almost 30 languages in our business systems. So I would say don't worry about your additional languages. You will import a bit more data during upgrades, but most time is normally spend in other routines than in main import. So no worry here either.
Your last question is a bit more complex to answer. Database growth depends on your database and on your Unicode encoding. If you run UTF-8 and you add Chinese code pages than your text columns could be much bigger than before, but usually you should no see a big difference. In our system we did a Unicode migration with 26 languages and 15 code pages which lead to almost no growth.

After ECC 6.0, need to login under "EN", before was "ZH".
Is it possible to maintain the same vendor code in more than 1 language?
In ME21N, the language at the header uses the default from LFA1.
Had anybody been through this scenarios before?

There are 2 ways of solving this
1) you can still login with "ZH" .
go to Tcode:SU01
Click on Defaults Tab
Then you see "Logon Language" - Click on the dropm down icons - you can see "ZH- Chinese"
2) You can maintain vendors in different langauge
press XK02 TCODE and on the first screen click on "Adress icon"
You will see an icon " Internal Version.
Click the language and maintain it

Now for the XYZ workcenter you will have 6 standard values and assigned to to the first Operation.
Remaining Standard values say 7, 8 and 9 will be assigned to the Std. Value key for workcenter XYZ Dummy.
Now create Order with this Routing, confirm both the operations Values will be captured as intended.

Can I setup more than one Language for Voice control?

I use 2 different language for my contact list and 3 different language for my music.
Is there a way to setup up for it to recognize more than one language?
I currently use Iphone 4

It can only recognize one language at a time. For how to change it, see p. 46 of the User Guide.

Hi, kunal520. What's the exact error message & which connection are you using? Cellular data or WiFi? If you're using a cellular data, try to use a WiFi connection instead. Make sure that you have a working data connection by accessing the internet using your phone browser. You can also try to reboot the phone to refresh your phone's software. Press and hold the volume down and power keys until the phone vibrates.

My old school palm pre was much friendlier than the IPHONE 3G. I was able to sync my outlook calendars and contacts via wi-fi effortlessly. I tunes did sync once or twice in the six months that I have had it, but more often it acts like it is syncing and ultimately delivers a message like "no calendar application is supported". Why the back and forth. Very frustrating after literally hours of trying to sync my phone with my Outlook calendar and contacts. HELP!!!!

What version of MS Office do you have installed? Have you tried re-installing office over top of itself? It may not be properly registered with the OS.

I'd like to use more than one language in Firefox 31. How can I do that? Thx

I use Firefox at work, and while I have admin privileges for my own laptop, whenever I connect to the server with an Ethernet cable, the server automatically reverts my Firefox and Thunderbird to French. I'm using Firefox 31.0 and Thunderbird 31.0 and I would like to be able to use them in English, and the only option I see is to install another UI language pack. I noticed there was a language button in the top right-hand corner of the Firefox toolbar, but there's only one language to choose from. Despite my efforts to search and install a British English addon that would do the trick, I couldn't find anything.

I actually want to use a different user interface language. I was able to install the spell-checkers and dictionaries previously, but I didn't know what to do with the UI language. I checked the links you kindly provided but apparently, the downloadable language packs are not compatible with Firefox 31, which they set up in my office. Is there any way to force the install?
I also checked out the locale switcher but since the language pack extension is not compatible with firefox 31... If you have time to spare, I would be very interested in finding out more about your desktop shortcut solution.
I use a mac at home, and language-wise it's so much better. My own profile is completely in English whereas my wife is in French, which simplifies things (I just made sure to tell her to use safari if she wants to browse in French!)
One solution I used in the past was to reinstall firefox in English, but I have to do that every time the IT guys update FF, and then, you don't want to stand out if you want to remain in their good graces.

More than Six Activities in the production

Dear All,
In our Project Scenario, We have defined 4 activities, Viz: Labor, Testing, Rework and Set up for Production purpose as per the Client Requirement, but the client wants to have a Production Hrs & Overtime Hrs separately for each of the activities. In this case, we need to define 4 more activities to meet the client requirement.
As SAP standard suggest that it is better to go with a maximum 6 activities. But in our scenario the activities will become 8 activities. We need some suggestion as how to go about this and what are the consequesnces from PP Module.
Can the Production users able to punch the production Hrs and Overtime Hrs SEPARATELY.
Please suggest as how come out from this issue.

Create a dummy resource in the name of Hours & enter as a Operation and phase below the main operation which can give you another entry of six activity.
Enter the production hrs & overtime as activity in the dummy resource and confirm it in COR6N.

Add Support for more than one language to my APP

1st off - sorry, most likely this is the wrong place to ask this question - I did a lot of searching but did not come accross any simple solution.
I wrote an app that supports about 10 languages - but in the store it only Shows up as "english" - also if I try to publish an update I can only select "English" as a language to add the description.Is there a simple way to add more languages?

ALV Grid - more than six values in a dropdown-field?

Hi,
I have realised an alv grid with several fields that contain a dropdown-field as valuehelp.
Although the dropdown-table has e.g. 20 entries there are shown only six entries on the alv grid. The user has to scroll through the values to choose another one. Is it possible to increase the number of shown entries of a dropdown-field on an alv grid?

you can specify the output length of a column in the fieldcatalog by specifying this filed in your fieldcatalog slis_fieldcat-outputlen .
And also one parameter i.e. slis_layout_alv-colwidth_optimize ,if you put this parameter as 'X' then it will optimize the column width depending on the content of your column.
You need to set the OUTPUTLEN field in the feildcat, the field catalog is then passed to the ALV function call, or method call.

No phone service for more than six weeks !!! Portl...

My phone edited by mod stopped working on the evening of Feb. 24th. I reported the problem the next morning and was told that it would be fixed within three days. The problem turned out to be at the local exchange and new cabling was required to resolve the problem. This required local traffic control which was scheduled to be in place on March 10th. March 10th came and went and I was told that the engineers installing the cable were not updating the engineers who were supposed to configure the phone service once the new cable was in place. At no point was I given an estimate of when I might expect my service might be restored. I finally got an update on March 27th which said the traffic control would be in place on March 31st to install the required cabling. A further update said my phone should be working on April 2nd. On April 6th with my phone still not working I received an update saying that the engineers who going to install the cabling required traffic lights which weren't available until this coming Saturday, April 11th. Now I'm hoping against hope that the cabling might be installed this Saturday and I might receive an update of when I can expect my phone to be working again. Then I can hope that that update might actually be acurate and I might actually have phone service. I really have a hard time seeing why in over six weeks time no one at BT can give me an accurate estimate of when my phone service can be restored. I have no luck at all getting any useful information by calling BT on the usual line (0800 800 151) since all I'm told is that my problem will be updated soon. Any help or actual, useful information would be very much appreciated. Failing that, I guess I have to wait until week 8 of no service and try my luck with the communications ombudsman.

I want to show my site in 3 different languages, how can i do that. It would be nice if i could have some flags on the frontpage witch could link to language sites i prefer to see. Is that possible?

Create 3 pages in iWeb.
On page one you type the text in one language.
On page two you type the text in another language.
On page three you type the text in yet another language.
Put flags on each page and link them to the page with the language.
You can hide the link to each page in the navigation bar if you want.

How to maintain UOm in more than one language?

Can anyone guide me how to maintain a UOM in other log-in languages.
I have maintained PCE= Piece in English, it appears also to be in the French and German language automatically.
But when I raise a shopping cart in any other languages, I am not able to get the UOM in my selction list.
Please suggest me?

Hi,
You have to maintain these in CUNI. In CUNI "Go To --> Translation and maintain the UOM in the required language over there. I guess (not sure) but you have to save it so that it appears in your SHC in the correct language.

Using more than one language in a form

Hello,
I want to create a form where I can use different languages. I want to show the vokabulary in German, Turkish, Arabic etc.. Where and how do I have to make amendments in the form to get the right letters in my form. (in Windows I can change the language, but if I do so in Oracle I get undefined signs). If you know what I have to do, pls explain the programs and changings clearly (for dummys) because I have no clou where I should search for it. The only thing I found in the Help was amending NLS_LANG in the registry. I did all existing fields NLS_LANG from GERMAN_GERMANY.WE8ISO8859P1 into German_Germany.UTF8, but I received the error frm-40735 exeption in pre-form trigger ora-01403. Amending NLS_LANG back into GERMAN_GERMANY.WE8ISO8859P1 solved this problem again.

Robert, this is the Oracle FORMS forum, so if you want to know how to make Oracle RDBMS 8i multi-language, you should post your question in the Database forums. If your application is a Forms based application, then you should list the Forms version (eg; 10.1.2.0.2 not 10g) this is what Michael was referring to when he said, "product version".

Buying a movie in iTunes store in more than one language

1. If a movie is available in multipule language can I buy it and have the two audio track ie..: french and english
2. In the old Apple tv if i buy a movie i could get multiple audio track why cant it be done in the iTunes store?

The content owners/copy right holders dictate what content the iTS can sell. If the content is provided with multiple soundtracks then that is what you get. It is not up to the iTS what options come with the purchase. The iTS is a method of distribution.
