Uninstall before installing universal FCP?

just wondering if i have to unistall FCP studio apps before i install new universal FCP 5 + dvd studio pro, motion, et al.

You most certainly do not have to. It's no requirement, if that's what you're asking.
I personally did an Erase and Install of Tiger, then from scratch installations of FCS, but my machines were getting crowded with a lot of junk (downloading too much stuff from versiontracker).
But I would have felt just as confident simply updating/installing over the existing apps if I was a more disciplined downloader.

does earlier version of elements need to be uninstalled before installing PSE13?

    Hello,
don't worry, I for my part I have on my computer more of these earlierer (outdated in some cases) Adobe programs, to see the difference or for some other reasons. Try them out for a while and then decide, whether you need the both.

No. From the very beginning all versions of PSE have been able to coexist.

  • Reader 9.4.x uninstall before installing Acrobat X?

Does Adobe Reader 9.4.x need to be uninstalled before installing Acrobat X? If I fail to do so, will Acrobat X become the default reader application assuming I do not alter the installation defaults? Is there any reason to keep Reader 9.4.x if I am installing Acrobat X? Should I upgrade to Reader X prior to installing Acrobat X? Thanks in advance for your prompt replies.

Having just spoken with "Sam" at Adobe technical support, it was suggested that I uninstall Adobe Reader prior to installing Acrobat X Pro. I was told that if I did not do so, it would prompt me to upgrade during the installation of Acrobat X since the version of Reader is 9.4.x and not version X (or above). I was also told that once Acrobat X Pro is installed, it will become the default application for handling PDF opening. If anyone has any additional or different information, please post it here.

  • Uninstall Before Installing CS6 Design Std.

I currently have activated trial versions of Photoshop CS6, ID CS6, and Illustrator CS6. I have PS deactivated (I have a separate single app license for that). ID and Illustrator are activated via my Creative Cloud subscription.  I have decided to purchase CS6 Design Standard. Do I need to uninstall Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign before installing the CS6 Design Standard downloads?
Thank you in advance for any assistance.

    Hi,
Although you already have those softwares (photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator) installed in your system however you will still have to uninstall these applications before installing Design Standard in the same computer because the installer for Suite and standalone products are different.
    Thanks

  • Do individual Adobe products need to be uninstalled before installing creative cloud?

I am deploying user licenses to several users in a department where a lot of individual Adobe products are installed and already in use. Will these individual products need to be uninstalled before using or installing Adobe Creative Cloud?

    U-96,
When you install different versions, you should always do so in order from first to last. With a different order, you will (almost certainly) overwrite crucial files with older versions.

  • Git Already Installed - Should I uninstall before Installing XCode 4?

    Hi Folks
I already have git installed (Version 1.7.3.4 in /usr/local/git).
I would like to use XCode 4 but as I understand it it installs git.
So my question is really do I need to try and uninstall my existing git to avoid conflict or perhaps I could prevent XCode 4 from installing git and config it to use the existing installation?
I don't mind leaving my existing install if there will be no conflicts but equally I'm nervous about persuading XCode 4 to use my existing install in case the version that XCode 4 installs is customized in any way and things would break without it?
    Any experience/advice appreciated.
    Regards...jeremy

From the latest Xcode 4 readme:
    New Issues
    Source Control and Snapshots
Git: Xcode doesn’t commit pull or merge source control operations on conflicted binary files when using Git. Instead, a dialog appears indicating that Git failed to merge a binary file.
After the dialog appears, finish the operation by entering this command in Terminal:
    git commit

  • Installer created via Deployment Utility - disable uninstall before install?

With an Installer created by the TestStand 3.1 Deployment Utility, when the Installer executes it always has to first uninstall any deployed files that are on the target system.  If I wanted to disable this feature and have the Installer just always overwrite existing files is there a way to do so?

    Hi Snood1,
I was able to reproduce that message on my end here and unfortunately could not find a way to prevent that message or auto-uninstall.  I tried using the command prompt, but could not get a silent uninstall to occur.  I did however try it out on both TestStand 3.5 and 4.0 and each of these versions recognized that I was upgrading my deployment and installed over the old system with the new versions of the files.  The only thing I know to recommend here is an upgrade of the version of TestStand if you want to prevent this message.  If needed, click here for product information.
    Best of luck!

  • Do I uninstall before installing new drive

Sorry, I am suuuurrree this has been asked a million times, but didn't see it in the FAQ.
I am putting a Sound Blaster Li've into my rig, do I need to install from the CD? If so, do I install the updated driver listed in the download section over it's Both of them, there is a big pack and one that says I need it st.
    From this page:
    http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=&sOSName=Windows+XP&regi on=&Product_Name=Li've%2+5.&Product_ID=50&modelnum ber=&driverlang=033&OS=0&drivertype=0&x=8&y=4
    Thanks.

You just install the Li've Uni-Pack, not the driver update pack. That update pack is for an update to the initial unified driver that is no longer posted.
The problem is the only software update that'll then install are the 2 PlayCenter downloads. First, 3.02.52 then 3.02.70. The other software needs a previous installation to update.
A way around this is to install the full cd from badboy's posting of Creative cd's. After that you just need the PlayCenter 3.02.70 update. It installs the same package as the Li've Uni-Pack but also has full versions of the software package.

  • GPO to uninstall Flash before installing 10.1.53.64

When pushing out a software installation for the new install_flash_player_10_active_x.msi, it leaves previous versions installed even though Adobe's Flash test site says that the latest version is installed and in use. However, I'm sure that it is probably "best practice" to push out a script to uninstall all previous versions of Flash [i.e. uninstall_flash_player.exe -uninstall] before installing the latest version (10.1.53.64).
Is anyone using a GPO to push out a script to uninstall the previous versions of Flash before running the .MSI or .EXE to install the latest version (10.1.53.64)?We have several Flash versions out there, so attempting to Upgrade from an old GPO package AD isn't thorough enough.
I've tried running the uninstall_flash_player.exe -uninstall file (as a .VBS) with a precedence of 1 before the software installation GPO (as startup scripts), but it produces mixed results, so I'm not sure that this is the best method.
    So, two questions here:
    1) Does anyone forsee any real issue leaving previous versions installed (i.e. not uninstalling before installing new)?
    2) Otherwise, how is everyone handling uninstalling and reinstalling via GPO? Better suggestions on how to and in what order to push out the uninstall and install processes?
    Thanks much for your suggestions!

I am not using GPO, but to the best of my knowledge, the installer should automatically uninstall all previous FP versions.  See the install.log file (if that is produced using GPO).
However, sometimes the installer is unable to remove all components of old FP versions, e.g. if the users have web browsers running during the installation.  This may get fixed during the next reboot, but often it is not.

  • Do I need to uninstall the Photoshop CS6 trial before installing Design & Web Premium?

I'm studying game design and my school provides a full license for Photoshop CS6. Before they provide the license they require you to install the software and use the 30 day trial, so that's what I did - I just installed the Photoshop CS6 standalone version (the full thing, not Elements). Now that my trial period has expired I've been given the license, but it seems it's for the whole Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium, not just Photoshop.
Should I uninstall Photoshop standalone before installing the whole Design & Web Premium suite? Or will it be okay if I go through the installation of the suite and just deselect Photoshop from the installation options? Is there any difference between the version that's installed on its own and the version that comes with the Design Premium suite? Will it affect any functionality in terms of transferring stuff between applications?
    I'm running Windows 7.
    Thanks in advance.

Only if you want to or need the space... versions are independent... some people have several versions installed for testing different capabilities

  • Already have Support Software v5.0 installed, do I need to uninstall it before installing SS v5.1? Please help!

    as title.

    thanks for reply.
anyway, I uninstall the older version before installing the new. for those who having trouble uninstalling Windows software try Fix it software from microsoft (thank rtheb's post).
one thing I didn't mention is that I did a fresh win8 install using boot camp assistant, but at that time the latest boot camp support services available was v4.0 which is not supposed to support win8.
later, when boot camp support services v5.0 final was released, I installed it on top of v4.0 (i.e. without uninstalling v4.0). I couldn't remember if I got a error message for that, but the computer seemed running ok except that I got a error message when uninstalling boot camp support services v5.0 this time.
