Uninstalled final cut HD express but software update still reminds me

I have uninstalled Final cut express HD, because I didn't know it would not run on an intel Mac (no AGP video), but when running software updates it reminds me of updates. Uninstalled by dragging to trash, can't find any other related items using spotlight.

If you ever want to uninstall again, properly, follow the instructions on this link :-

Note that some of the items are for LiveType and Soundtrack.

  • How do I uninstall Final Cut Pro 5 Suite?

I've never actually tried to uninstall this suite, so I may be overlooking something obvious. I tried opening the install package and looking for an option there, but no luck - and the document on Apple's site that should instruct me on how to do this seems to be missing.
    Does anyone have any tips?

one of the support articles includes these notes:
Another approach you might consider is reinstalling Final Cut Pro. To do this effectively, you need to remove the application and its receipts, then install Final Cut Pro and use Software Update to install additional updates. You don't have to remove everything that was installed with Final Cut Pro. Follow the steps below to completely reinstall a fresh copy of Final Cut Pro. Note: Make sure that you have your installation discs and serial number handy before starting this.
    Open the Applications folder.
Drag the Final Cut Pro application to the Trash.
    Go to /Library/Receipts.
In the Receipts folder, select the "FinalCutPro.pkg" file.
Choose View > as List to view the contents in a list.
Click the Date Modified column header so you can easily see all of the receipts that were installed at the same time as Final Cut Pro.
Drag the FinalCutPro.pkg receipt to the Trash, as well as any other items that have the same modification date within 3 minutes of the FinalCutPro.pkg's modification date.
Click the Name column header to sort the list alphabetically.
Drag any other receipts whose names begin with "Final Cut Pro" to the Trash.
Insert your Final Cut Pro installation disc and install Final Cut Pro.
When finished, use Software Update (under the Apple menu) to update your software to the latest version.
For further information on settings or installation, please refer to the Final Cut Pro documentation available on your installation discs.
    Hope that helps

  • Is there a way to export a final cut pro 10 project without updating the software to 10.1

I need help exporting a project i created on final cut pro 10, but it keeps saying i need to update to 10.1. To update the software, i need 4GB but my mac book pro only has 2GB

Well it's probably time to do some house/computer cleaning.
You need to clear space and maybe get a large fast external drive for media storage.
Try turning off auto updating in System Preferenses>Software Update.

  • Gaining better resolution from my final cut hd express films

Hey, can anyone help my on going conundrum once and for all. I've asked editors, all be it avid based, apple technicians and i've still yet to have a definite answer. I've been editing on my macbook using imovie 08 HD, which has been fairly adequate. However, I also have a g5 powermac with th final cut express HD software. I'm not too fussed about livetype and other beneficial FX that final cut express can offer, but what i do want is a better resolution for the finished product, as the final result tends to be a bit blocky. I used to work in TV as director and so have sat in on many an edits. I guess what i'm after is the amateur version of onlining, if this exists??? with AVID suites, in simple, this basically involves re-entering all the rushes, but i've got a funy feeling that it's not that simple sat at home, as the kit in an online suite, would set me back a couple of 100K!
I guess in short what i'm asking asking is A) will i gain a better resolution from using final cut HD express and B) how do you gain the highest possible resolution on either pieces of software. My camera is the Sony Z1 and i'm currently using iDVD.
If anyone can help I'd be hugely grateful!!

thanks for the hospitality! i only wish i'd used the forum earlier...it's nice to there are still decent people out there, willing to share their knowledge..!
my macbook is the 2GHz core duo, but not sure about the G5, it's circa 2004 (i know that's no real help!)
the 'blockyness' in imovie has been there from day 1 and always appears after i have burned the movie off in idvd or merely exported it to an mpeg4 file or likewise and on sequences where i have applied an effect, especially raised the exposure levels the 'blockyness; is almost lego like! but as a general rule of thumb, when editing the rushes look great. once they've been exported its as if they have become 2nd/3rd generation. I've imported stuff to final cut express 2 (recently got the upgrade software to HD express) the rushes look fine, but i'm presuming once i export the same will apply. The quicktime software i'm using is the 7.4.5 version, can this have an effect on the quality? and whether or not the movie is viewed back on the mac or through an external video monitor, the same quality is apparent. I am capturing straight from the camera, but not sure if im using cinemode, this isn't a feature i'm aware of in the menu of the Z1.
I'm no steve jobs, but I'm pretty sure the problem lies around the exporting stage of my movie making. for example, when with imovie, when i produce a title. the edges of the lettering are perfect. once it's been exported, the edges of all the letters are very soft. I've had a look at some other discussion group pages to see if anyone shares the same problem. somebody proposed changing the expert settings in imovie8 which i did but to no avail.
I have toast software that i have not yet used, would this make any difference?
Many thanks again for your guidance.

  • How to uninstall final cut pro 5

How do you do this? I have used app delete to erase the files but it didn't get them all. I know this because when I check for updates it still offers me the final cut pro updates. I have searched around but cant find an uninstaller. Help please.
    Thanks,
    Macguy3000

Warning - This is a long post.
How to uninstall Final Cut Pro & the other ProApps -
There are two ways to do this. The first requires that you insert the
install discs for each app and go through the following procedure to
    identify the installed files.
    1) Insert the disc and double click the install icon.
    2) Click to let the installer check your system
    3) After the installer opens, click File > Show Files (Command-T)
    4) Click the disclosure triangle next the the app's name to show all the
files installed, then select all of them
    5) Choose Edit > Copy (Command-C)
    6) Open a text editor & paste the list
    7) If you have a printer connected, print
    8) Make sure you delete the file/folder in the exact location indicated
    in the list
    9) Insert the next app's install disc and repeat
The other way involves the Terminal.
    Using Terminal:
    1) In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G)
    2) Enter the location /Library/Receipts/FinalCurPro.pkg/Contents
    3) Click Go to open the Contents folder
    4) Launch Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal)
    5) Enter the command lsbom -s (a lower case L, not an upper case i)
lsbom lists each of the files inside the bill of materials. To list only
the folders, the command would be lsbom -d.
    6) Type a space, then drag the Archive.bom file from the Finder window
    to the Terminal window.
    7) Press Return to view the list
    8) Drag to select the list in the Terminal window and choose File > Copy
    (Command-C)
    9) Open a text editor and paste the list into it. Print if you have a
    printer attached.
    10) Guided by the list, delete all the files and folders, being
extremely careful to delete from the exact locations shown in the list.
NOTE: The above comes from the Peachpit book Optimizing Your Final Cut
    Pro System.

  • How do I uninstall final cut pro x?

    Hi there.
Is there a proper way to uninstall Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5, and the new Compressor from my system (10.6.8), or can I just thrash the 3 apps?
I'd also like to make sure to delete the downloaded additional content, and that my Final Cut Studio (FCP 7.0.3, etc) that's also in this computer doesn't get affected.
I searched hi and lo and couldn't find any answer of discussion about it. The manual also doesn't say.
    Thank you.

    Hi there.
I have a way for you to uninstall FCPX, but it may be incomplete (as in it might not delete everything).  Do not use this if you have Final Cut Studio and you want to keep it as this will render it useless and you will have to reinstall.  First delete the program itself.  If you are using a developer preview of Lion follow these steps:
    1. Open Launchpad and find FCPX, Motion 5, and Compressor
    2. Click and hold on the icon, then click the x in the top left corner of the wiggling icon.
    3. Skip down below after the Snow Leopard Part.
    Snow Leopard Steps:
    1.  Find a Mac uninstallation program (Here the one that I use: http://www.freemacsoft.net/AppCleaner/)
    2.  Launch App Cleaner.
    3.  Click on the application folder in your dock and find the 3 apps.
    4.  Drag them into the window that appears when you open App Cleaner.
    5.  Click delete, and then type the administrator password if it asks for one.
    6.  Skip down below.
Remove (I think all) of the additional content:
    1. Click on finder.
    2. Press CMD + Shift + G
    3. Copy and paste this (replacing username with your actuall username): /Users/Username/Library
    4. Look for and delete the Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Compressor folders.
    5. Follow Step 2 above.
    6. Follow Step 3 above except paste this (and don't replace anything): /Library/Application Support
    7. Look for and delete the Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Compressor folders.

  • Audio Levels Final Cut Pro Express

I have the latest ver of Final Cut Pro Express. The audio on the time line shows just a straight line indicating the audio level. I would like to see the actual audio waveform on the time line. I went into the preferences menu and checked the box that read "show waveform on timeline", but that didn't correct the problem. I still have a straight line audio level. Any ideas anyone?

Cmd is the Command key, the Apple key. It works if there is audio in the timeline that has a waveform, if the timeline is the active window, and if you wait a moment for the waveform to be drawn. You can also do it with the little popup triangle in the lower left of the timeline window near the track height buttons.

  • Trying to uninstall Final Cut Studio - files reappearing?

    what type of files?

  • Anyone know how to uninstall Final Cut Studio?

I've attempted 3 installs and at the very end it says there were errors (of course, it doesn't say what errors), and to try again. Well, after 20+ hrs. into this I think it's time to start with a clean slate. But I can't find anything online on how to uninstall Final Cut Studio. I found several links to some mysterious document 93150, but apple's site doesn't have it anymore. Yeah, my luck.
If anyone could help me on this, you're sure to get lots of good karma this weekend, maybe even into the week.
    thanks,
    -w

Yeah, the Knowledge Base documents to uninstall FCP 4 or higher no longer exist. (only the doc for FCP 3 exists) That being said, the Troubleshooting Basics for Final Cut Pro 5 document does detail how to trash receipts and reinstall. Haven't needed to try it myself (knocking on wood) but I take it you've have and it still hasn't worked out for you?
What, exactly, is prompting all of these installs?

  • When you uninstall final cut pro does your projects delete too

When you uninstall final cut pro does your projects delete too

No, only the app is removed.
The Events and Projects are completely untouched and ready to use when you reinstall or update FCP X.
To uninstall simply drag the FCP X application icon to the trash and delete it.

  • UNINSTALLING FINAL CUT PRO

Can any one tell me how to uninstall Final Cut Pro completely? All my filters and sound loops etc are spread across multiple drives. I wish to start completely fresh and re-install Final Cut placing the loops etc onto one specific drive.
    thanks

Not sure if you can pick a desinated location for the loops. You can simply copy it to new location.
Filters are in one location: library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support
    Just trash it.
Download the 'FCP Rescue' and it will delete some prefs and other files for you. It's also handy to have when FCP crashes and it will restore your prefs.
    Trash the application FCP.
Reinstalling the software will over-write the rest.

I have seen similar posts but don't know whether anyone has a solution.
    Take a look here  https://discussions.apple.com/message/17565242#17565242
If you are new to FCP X it may be that you are doing something wrong but unless you give precise details of every move we will have no idea what that may be.

itunes won't launch - requires Quicktime 7.5.5 but software update says software is current

    Are you using Leopard?
If so, let's try installing a QuickTime 7.7 for Leopard using a .dmg installer downloaded from the Apple website:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL761
If you install that does that clear up the iTunes trouble?
