Unity/Domino Domain Name Change

I have a Unity server integrated with a Domino message store. We are changing our domain name. The cisco documentation I have found says that you have to rebuild Unity when moving to a new domain. We aren't moving to a new domain just changing the name. Credentials, SID's, QID's are all staying the same we are just changing the domain name. Does anyone know if I will have to rebuild unity given this change or can I simply change the domain name on the unity box?
Thank you in advance!

Java is correct here.  I understand that your reaction may be that you can rename a domain and then just reboot member computers twice for the changes to take effect; however, Unity is not a standard member computer.  The AD information is not just membership info for the server but part of data that is propagated into SQL and etc.  So, you will need to rebuild because essentially this, to Unity, is the same as moving the server to a new domain.  You can use the following guide to step thru the process:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity/5x/upgrade/guide/ex/5xcuruge080.html
The key is to make sure you get a DiRT backup and then rebuild to the exact same version of Unity including ES, patches, etc.  Then you'll be able to complete the procedures and restore the system via DiRT restore.

  • Connection Errors to Remote Desktop from OSX after Domain name change

We have an issue using Microsoft Remote Desktop from Macs in our school. All was well until we changed the domain name of our RDS servers and installed a new wildcard certificate. Connections work perfectly in Windows 7/8 and also iOS on iPads, but we cannot
get any Macs to connect having tried OSX 10.7 and 10.9. The error message says the connection failed to load but seems to add a spurious end to the connection string - TS/en-US/Default.aspx - but we cannot trace where this is being picked up.
We can get to the site in a web browser and sign in to receive the "browser not supported" message in Safari so traffic is obviously getting to the severs.
Has anyone else had a similar issue? We have spent days poking around with DNS etc but can't seem to make any progress here.

    Hi Jeremy,
I have tried removing connections and also re-installing the App. We have been using this App since January with no real issues until we made our domain name change - I really don't understand why it works fine in Windows and iOS but not OSX. We are doing
nothing different to what we have done from day 1.
Log file from our old connection when it was working looked like this:

  • Domain Name Change in CSS

We have a CSS doing HTTP load balancing. There is no SSL termination done on this device.
will the domain name change have any impact on the load balancer?
    thanks
    sathappan

If you see the domain name in your CSS config, then yes there will be an impact.
    Otherwise, no.
By default we do not check the domain name.

  • Domain Name Change procedure

Can anyone tell me which are the changes to do in the alui portal when the domain name change ? Which are the files to modify ? Does any tool exist to automate the task ?
    ex : portal.toto.com became portal.titi.corporate.com

I'm interested to any solutions too.
For instance, my solution was to find and change all configuration files with a command line like "find . -name "*.xml""...
But you have also to change configuration inside the portal, like all remote web services addresses
I think it's not so easy to change the domain name

  • Domain Name Change Disabling Keys

I'm told that our domain name change from hhp.umd.edu to
sph.umd.edu will disable the Contribute keys.
Is that correct and if so, how do I get new keys that are
    usable with the new domain?
    thanks for your assistance.

I have a related question. I have about 20 different
connections that I have set up manually. Now that our domain login
has changed the connections are no longer there. Where is that
information stored. I'd like to recover it.

  • Domain name change broke oms/agents/grid control

We merged with another company and the domain names changed for all servers last weekend. I fixed all servers (tnsnames, listner.ora and db_domain parameter), so sqlplus works and all processes work.
My question is: which parameters do I need to change in the agents and the oms for gridcontrol to work again. Where are those parameters? Is there any documentation I can follow?
    Thanks.

    Hi.
if the domain name from EM GC has changed you need to migrate the repository
    and reinstall the oms.

Have you checked your web cache log files for errors? Also check the %ORACLE_HOME%\opmn\log directory as there are many log files which can be helpful resolving your issue.

  • Internet Email Domain Name Change

Mangagement wants our email domain name changed because of it's length. Another government agency handles hosting for us now and can't change it for us. I have paid for a new name using a company on the internet and now have to switch it over. I see, in console one, that I can create a second name in Tools -> Groupwise System Operations -> Internet addressing and then set one of them to preffered. Can I do this and then set the new name as preferred? I would like to allow email that is addressed to the old email domain name to flow to the users for 30 days. Looks like I will need to change the foriegn ID in the gwia and also the name in the internal groupwise domain properties. Is there anything else that needs to be done? Is this the best way to do this? Thanks

  • Could domain name change after Unity migration?

    Hello everyone,
I will upgrade Unity3.1(6) to Unity 4.0(5) (Voice Mail only). Here is the main steps:
    1. backup current Unity data
    2. install Windows2K server w/Exchange 2000,Unity3.1(6) from scratch.(not replacing server hardware,
Windows2k server and Exchange 2000 server are located in the same server)
    3. recover Unity data on new installed windows2000 w/Exchange 2000 server
    4. Upgrading Unity3.1(6) to Unity 4.0(5)
I got a few questions here.
    1. Should Domain name keep the same? ( If I need to change Domain name, is it applicable?)
    2. Should I run Active Directory connetcor for recovering Exchange5.5 data?
Hope to share experience with you. Thanks for your reply.
    Background:
    Unity 3.1(6), Exchange5.5 installed on Windows2000 server A,
Users in WindowsNT 4.0 PDC server B,
    After migrating:
Remove WindowsNT 4.0 PDC server B,
windows server A will be Domain Controller w/Exchange2000, Unity 4.0(5)
    Howard

    Hello,
I don't understand why you are going to rebuild the server, if you just want to upgrade to Unity 4.0 (I am assuming that you currently have W2K); you just need to:
    - Do a Dirt backup
    - Upgrade to Exchange 2K
    - Do a Dirt backup
    - Install the CUSPA and CUICA
Just follow the instructions on this link:

  • Windows AD Domain Name Change

    Hello, Netpros.
I have a customer who is changing their AD domain name.  They are running Unity 5.0(1), Unified Messaging, and off-box Exchange 2003 as the message store.  From looking at the docs, I am assuming that this will be considered changing both the DC and the message store.  I think I'll have to do a complete rebuild and restore using DiRT (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity/5x/upgrade/guide/ex/5xcuruge060.html).  After that, I'm assuming that I'll need to do a message store change (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity/5x/upgrade/guide/ex/5xcuruge050.html).
However, we are not really changing to a different DC or an Exchange, it will be the same one just renamed, but it appears to me that we have to consider it as all new.  Is this correct?  If so, are there any steps I'm missing?  What do I have to do to subscriber properties, if anything? Do I need to decommission the server from the domain before removing?  Is there any concern as to the order of operations?  E.G. Do I need to decommission, kill subscriber properties, have them change the domain name, then rebuild and re-add?
Is there anyway to not have to go this route, say using DNS to translate the old domain?  We'll be migrating to Connection in several months, so I'd like to avoid a rebuild now if possible, as both time and budget are short.
Thanks for your thoughts on this,
    Joshua

This would be considered the same as moving Unity to another domain.  So, it is a DiRT backup, rebuild, DiRT restore operation.  Here is the applicable link from the configuration guide:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity/5x/upgrade/guide/ex/5xcuruge080.html#wp1097725
I do not know of any way to get around this.  Unfortunately, it would be much easier for you if you could have timed the migration to Unity Connection in conjunction with this change.

  • Unity connection domain name

    Hi
In fresh unity connaction cluster i insert a domain name from ssh and now i like to delete it from the system.
In cisco doc say how to change it but no delete
Can someone help to resolve this
    Thanks
Sent from Cisco Technical Support Android App

    Hi Sharon,
In order for the domain name to take effect, you need to have a primary DNS server also added (set network dns primary ).
If you wish to change the domain name, it will be the same command you used to enable in the 1st go ).
If you wish to delete the domain name, then you must delete the DNS server IP address (Primary and Secondary if both are configured) in order for the domain name entry to get removed. Hence there is no command as such to remove the domain name since having a domain name without a DNS or vice versa wont make much sense.
    HTH.

    Harmit.

  • Question about RAC 10g on server running AIX and domain name changes

We have several 10g clusters running on IBM p-Series AIX servers, and our company is changing the domain name for our network. I am concerned that if we do not change the domain names in the TNSNAMES.ora file and also the /etc/hosts file on each server, the cluster will no longer function. We are using CRS (version 10.2.0.3) and ASM within each cluster.
Does anyone know where I can find information about changing the domain name that was set up as part of the CRS and database installs for RAC? Does anyone have experience doing this, and would be willing to share a few insights? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!

You may be able to use the VIPCA utility for RAC to change or modify the public and private settings for your domain names on AIX. Also, the Oracle 10g DBCA "Database Configuration Assistant" should be of use to change your settings for your RAC environment.
Also, see here for a good IBM Redbook that covers Oracle 10g RAC on AIX platforms:

I checked SOST it shows the correct mail id.This is not specific to a particular domain occurs with all domains .
Has anyone encountered such a problem before.

    Hello Navjot,
if you have some basis background you can check TCode SCOT there you can see if the mail connect for external mails is configured correctly. There shoud be at least a node for SMTP communication. If there is such node check that sending s not restricted to certain adresses. Furthermore you could check over the menu if the default domain is set properly.
    Kind Regards

Assuming the hostname changed on the host where the OMS and repository reside due to the domainname change, I would reinstall. You could update the emoms.properties file and reboot the OMS but not sure that would do the trick.
you can get details on updating the emoms.properties via emctl here: https://support.us.oracle.com/oip/faces/secure/km/DocumentDisplay.jspx?id=1111894.1&h=Y
    Let me know.
