Universal Dock + Mee 3G

Hey Everyone...
I've read a bunch of threads saying the universal dock doesn't charge the 3G, but others that say it does, but gives you that "not supported" jargon. Anyway, im about to order a universal dock from amazon but if you guys know the difference between the OLD universal docks (that don't chare the 3G) and the NEWer Docks that do charge it... please let me know the difference, or better yet if this one will charge my iphone 3G.

It is cheaper here at Apple

And Apple clearly says it is made for iPhone 3G

  • Ipod Nano Compatibility with Ipod Universal Dock and Remote

I have an 8GB Black 2nd Gen iPod Nano. I want to connect it to my stereo. I was told that the Apple Ipod Universal Dock would be a good solution.
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=6C0 4E07A&nplm=MA045G/C
The website says that it is compatible with my nano, so no big deal right? I just wanted to make sure it would work fine with my iPod nano before I went and bought one. Does it come with the AV cable to connect the dock to my stereo / tv? DOes the dock have a graphical menu interface like some of the third party docks/remotes have?
Also, will the Apple Ipod Remote work with the universal dock?
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=BB5 E48CD&nplm=MA128G/A
The apple store website says that everything will be compatible, but I wanted confirmation from someone who has actually owned this or knows about this.
Can you offer any better docks/remotes ideas?

I was looking at the review CNET had for that Kensington dock.
    http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-player-accessories/kensington-entertainment-dock-500 /4505-6519_7-31631868.html?tag=uolst
I had a question about part of the review though, I am not sure I am understanding it correctly.
"We were impressed by the remote's ability to take control of our iPod; most of the third-party iPod-dock remotes we've seen only pause the music or video, skip tracks, and adjust the volume, not browse the menus. That said, the Entertainment Dock still isn't perfect. When you navigate the menus, your TV screen will be blank, so you must rely on the iPod's screen for your visual cues. Our other gripe is that the remote seems cheaply designed: The buttons on our review model looked misaligned (if usable), while the battery cover was annoyingly difficult to pry open. We got about 30 feet of range from the remote, which is more than adequate for most living rooms."
So this means that even though the remote can navigate the menus on the iPod, you wont be able to see what you are doing unless you go to the screen of your iPod?

  • Remote and Universal Dock

    Hi guys,
There's been a few discussion already on the remote and universal dock. Is it difficult for Apple to enable the display of the Ipod screen to the TV-out? You can gain a huge amount of functionality on the Ipod if you can actually see where you are on the menu and remotely navigate it. It just seems strange that I need to walk over to change from one play list to the next even after owning the remote. Apple please take note for this suggestion!
    cheers,
    vswtan

Nevermind, a hard reset fixed it!

  • Cabling from Apple Universal Dock to TV (with iPhone)

    Folks,
I am well able to get video signal from my iPhone sitting in my Apple Universal Dock to TV sets (and yes I am using Apple's Composite cable) but audio signal just doesn't come through using this cabling system. When I plug in an additional cable from the roung separatel "LINE OUT" port in the Apple Universal Dock and plug other end of that Y-cable into the audio in ports on the TV, I get the audio.
I thought the whole idea of using the "component" cable (yellow going into the yellow video port on the TV, red and white going into their respective audio ports on the TV) that the entire video and audio signals were sent out the long'ish horizontal connector from behind the dock and funneled into the red, white, and yellow connectors on the component cable's other end thus making it unnecessary to use both the "line out" port on the dock in addition to the long white horizontal plug.
What is up here and is there such a thing as one cable that has on one end the long white horizontal type plug as well as a line out plug and on the other end the red, yellow, and white plugs that go into the TV? There is none on the Apple site - just the COMPOSITE cable which is for TVs (the newest types) that offer essentially 5 ports - 3 for just video and 2 for audio.
What IS the correct way the user is supposed to be doing this????

I saw the Chart, I got the same problem as last year when I had my iPhone 3G 16GB. Apple NEVER SOLVE the issue and simply put the iPhone 3G being supported in the chart. It's not hard for them to add the 3GS for the next printed update.
Very dissappointed with Apple on the universal dock and AV component cable combo. They are not cheap either!
Anyone knows how can I connect the iPhone 3GS to computer monitor or projector just like what they did in WDC?

  • How can I create a Music Video playlist (for Universal Dock)?

Ok, I created a smart playlist of all my Music Videos but this is a music playlist.
I want a *Music Video* playlist so that all my music videos will play one after the other without user interaction (when playing in the Universal Dock with it's useless remote control).
    Is this even possible?

MVP video playlist app is the one you want download

  • What is included in the "iPod Universal Dock Adapter 3-Pack for iPod touch (4th generation)"?

What's in the box? Is it a small dock you can rest and charge your iPod on, or is it simply an adapter for the £50 Apple Universal Dock?
    Please reply I'm really confused!

It's only a few adapaters so your iPod can sit and rest properly on Apple's Universal dock.

  • IPhone (3,3G,4) does not work with Apple Universal Dock.

I have a 3rd generation iPod Touch that has been upgraded to iOS 4. My iPod Touch will no longer sync via the Apple Universal Dock. Also, my new iPhone 4 also will not sync via the Apple Universal Dock.

Trust a geek not to give up. I decided to get to the bottom of the "iOS device does not work with the Apple Universal Dock" problem. I noticed that the iPhone 4 and iPad came with slightly different USB-Dock adapter cables. I wondered if that might be the issue. My Apple Universal Dock was connected to my Mac via the original dock adapter cables which are slightly larger. I connected the newer cables between the Mac and the Apple Universal Dock and .... voila! Both the iPod Touch with iOS 4 and the iPhone can now connect via the Apple Universal Dock. Apple changed something in the way the adapter cables function.
Of course I still have the problem with the car head unit dock adapter ... Sigh. I'll have to call Best Buy ( uughh! ) and find out if they'll do the update for me. The were the vendor authorized installer.

  • My ipod touch is no longer working with universal dock since downloading the new OS

I have the Apple Universal Dock.  It had been working fine with my ipod touch.  I just downloaded the new OS and now my ipod touch will not work with the Universal Dock.
    Any ideas?

    Hi grecokev,
Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
You mention that your iPod nano is no longer recognized by iTunes after an update. Reinstalling iTunes is a good troubleshooting step, and if the device still doesn't appear in iTunes, try the following steps next:
Turn off your computer and your iOS device or iPod, then turn them on again.
Check to make sure that you've installed all required updates for your computer.
Verify that the 30-pin to USB cable or Lightning Connector to USB cable is free of debris and not damaged. If another cable is available, test with that cable instead.
USB cables that are bundled with third-party products or accessories might work only to charge those products and might not transmit data. Also, if you're using a third-party case or extended battery pack, try removing the case and connecting the Apple-supplied USB cable directly to your device.
You can find these steps in this troubleshooting article:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support
If the steps above don't solve it, see the section of the article called "Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed" for some additional steps to try on your PC.
    Best Regards,
    Jeremy

  • IPod, Apple Universal Dock and Remote

    Hello everyone,
So I have this 3-years-old 3g iPod, a 4th generation that still has black and white display and no video. Yesterday I just bought this Apple Universal Dock on a discount which has an IR receiver, audio output but no s-video output (i think it is an old version of the dock).
The dock and the ipod works fine. My ipod does sometimes act funny like I can't auto-sync all my songs to the ipod but has to do it manually. But it works fine with the dock, charging and cleanly put the songs to the speakers just fine.
Until I get my remote out from my macbook. I read it on the net that it is supposed to work with the dock as well. I've tried pairing it many times with the dock but still, not even volume up/down can be controlled from the remote. But the remote still works well with the macbook.
Is this because simply my 3G iPod is, uhm, too old?

Ok, I think you have the newer version of the dock (Apple removed the S-Video out in 2007). Yes the remote should work, what do you mean by "paired".
    And,

Which iPod is it a 3g or 4th gen?

  • Universal Dock's remote doesn't work with iPhone Photos

Has anyone tried Universal Dock's remote with iPhone Photos? I can't get it to work.
The remote does work with iPhone music and video though.

i just bought this dock as a car dock. I have it hooked up to power 12v and output to 1/8 into head unit. Now, I have to be in iTunes music to get it to work and it only allows volume, playing of files in a playlist and to next song. Are any of you guys having issues with VERY limited use of the remote and lack of really a benefit from using a remote because you have to touch it anyways to change through songs or video??? Are you guys wondering why you even bought it if the remote is not supported as a functional addition?

  • Universal Dock and Apple Remote

I have an iMac and iPod Video with a Universal Dock connected to the iMac. When I use my iMac apple remote it also fires up the iPod in the dock. I only want the iMac to respond to the remote. How do I turn off or un-pair the remote from the Universal Dock?

I did, it did not solve the problem. The remote is paired to my iMac but it still activates my iPod (universal dock).

  • IPod touch 1g and universal dock: on remote the volume up sets volume down

I have a iPod touch first generation. Today I bought the Apple universal dock which includes a aluminum remote.
The problem is that when I press 'volume up' on the remote, the volume on the iPod goes down. When I press 'volume down' on the remote, the volume on the iPod goes down as expected.
The other controls on the remote are working (prev, next, play/pause). Only the volume control is not working properly.
    What I already tried:
Unpairing and pairing the remote with the universal dock.
    Reboot the iPod
    Reset the iPod
Setup the iPod as a 'new' iPod with iTunes. Sync only the music, no apps.

    Hi,
I bought one dock from apple site some days ago and I think was the dock that had a problem, replaced with another universal dock but the problem persists.
Do you think that two of two dock could be damaged?
    thank you
    Emanuele

  • Does Av digital adapter works with the universal dock for remote control?

if I only connect the Lightning to 30 pin adapter to the universal dock for remote control it works so good with music, spotify, Netflix, YouTube etc.
but if I add the av digital lightning adapter to watch on Tv, the dock and remote control don't work anymore    what can I do? I want to watch stuff on tv and use the IR dock for remote control please help me what's going wrong?

    Thanks for your advice.
I recently purchased a universal dock for my iphone 3g. It works great. I just had one question. When my iphone is sitting on it for lets say 20 - 30 minutes. Then if i press the buttons on the remote. nothing happens! If I then press the home button while it is on the cradle then, the remote, it plays music. There after lets say if I stop stop the music through the remote and again press the remote button after a few minutes it starts playing. So what happens after a long time. Why do i have to press the home button on the iphone for the remote to work. Is that how it is supposed to work???
    Thanks

  • IPod with Universal Dock and Logitech Harmony 880 Remote

Is anyone successfully using their iPod with Universal Dock and the Logitech Harmony 880 remote? Does it need to be trained or does can you use the logitech software to program the remote?

Is anyone successfully using their iPod with
Universal Dock and the Logitech Harmony 880 remote?
Does it need to be trained or does can you use the
logitech software to program the remote?
You can program the 880 to work with the Universal Dock with just the logitech software. Just add a Digital Music Server and when asked what Model it is enter "iPod Universal Dock". That's it. For some reason Logitech tech support says it can't be done but me and and a couple of friends have done it without any issues.
