Unwanted Duplicate Audio Track

I've got a few video clips that keep giving me trouble in iMovie '13. When played back in iMovie, they have a second audio track that is a slow-mo version of the main audio.
I recorded the clips at 1080p on a Nikon d3100. I converted them to 720p using Handbrake and the Apple Universal preset. That process output three .m4v files. Each .m4v file plays just fine. No audio issues at all.
Next, I import the files into a new event in iMovie. Import process appears to go fine. However, when I play back the imported file (whether through the media library or the timeline), a second audio feed appears. This new track is a slow-mo version of the main track. It is delayed by about five seconds and plays right over the top.
I have no idea what's going on. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for the suggestions.
I wanted to lower the resolution as the 1080p video seemed to be destroying my mid-2011 Mac mini. I thought 720p might be a mit more managable.
I did have the same result whether dragging directly to the timeline or using the import feature.
Ultimately, I solved the problem by "exporting" the 1080p video to 720p files through QuickTime. I must have had some odd setting enabled in HandBrake.

  • Unwanted raw audio track in MP4 export - how to avoid?

    Dear everyone,
I recently had some trouble with audio in an iMovie project and exported it to GarageBand, where I did all the audio post production (= three additional audio tracks with voice over, music etc).
Everything went fine, and I exported the GarageBand project using "Share" "Export Movie to Disc" using the "Full Quality" settings to retain the original movie quality.
    Now here's the odd thing:
The resulting MP4 file has two soundtracks. Soundtrack 1 is the original, uncompressed sound from the movie's DV clips, soundtrack 2 is the mixdown audio track from GarageBand.
I have tried several playback devices (e.g. a Samsung TV), and it will default to the original track, which I do not want.
    Long story short:
How do I get rid of the unwanted original audio track in the MP4 file exported from GarageBand? Can I get rid of it right in GarageBand, or would I need QuickTime Pro or another tool to do it later?
(Again, to clarify: The exported MP4 has two separate audio tracks (shown e.g. as "English 1", "English 2" on a USC-capable TV set. I need to get rif od the raw audio track 1.)
    Thanks.

Even the most verbose description has room for misunderstandings.
    So, to clarify:
I do actually use the original audio in the GarageBand project. In some clips, it is muted, in some, I add fades.
This is all fine and dandy and part of the mixed, mastered audio - which is exactly as I want it when exporting said MP4/MOV file for example to iDVD. The DVD has the proper soundtrack, and only that.
The problem is that in addition to this correct, GB-mastered audio, I get the totally raw audio as a separate audio track, which is per default played by a Samsung TV's internal MP4 playback engine or a WD TV.
(And I mean "audio track" in the context of the MP4 file, not as in "a GarageBand audio track".)
I hope that clarifies the issue.
    Thanks

  • Duplicate audio track

    Hi,
I have a video clip that when I dropped it in my timeline dropped video and audio on only A1. I need two audio tracks and I have unlinked the video from the audio and tried to copy and paste it into the timeline on the A2 track to no avail. I've tried to duplicate the track and the duplicate option is grayed out on the menu. Can anyone help me get this audio track duplicated and onto the A2 track please?

I transferred it in from the external drive. It's red camera footage, so when I drop it in the timeline the audio shows up on one track. I'm working behind another editor, and he has all of the audio duplicated, so I'm trying to follow suit.

  • How to create a duplicate audio track ?

I only want to use the right channel of audio recorded with a shotgun mic and duplicate it in the left channel. Any ideas????

I think you will need to use GarageBand to do this.
First drag the clips to your project. Then SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME
In dialog box, choose MOVIE TO QUICKTIME MOVIE,
In the Export: box, choose SOUND TO AIFF. Use the default setting unless you have expertise in this area.
The AIFF file will import to GarageBand.
I recommend you check with the GarageBand discussion group for additional help.
But [here is a really good FAQ for GarageBand.|http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/GBFAQ.html]

  • How can I turn off the sound from the original midi  or audio tracks when I turned on the duplicate tracks for editing ?

How can I turn off the sound from the original midi or audio tracks when I edit or listen to the duplicate tracks in Logic Pro 9 ?
I'm using iMac desktop with Mac OS X Version 10.7.3. Pls advise.

    Dan,
It sounds like one of your preferences has changed.
Go to preferences > audio > general, and make sure "track mute/solo" is set to "CPU saving (slow response)". It is probably set to "Fast " at the moment.
This setting (fast) basically causes immediate muting from the channel strip while your song is in play. This is because the audio is still being read from the hard drive, but the channel strip is simply muted.... like a hardware mixer. When set to "CPU saving", the audio from that track, when muted, is actually stopped from streaming from the hard drive, but there is a couple second delay before the audio is actually muted.
One would think that the fast setting is generally preferable, except when you need to do what you are doing. The only way to keep duplicate copies of channel strips acting independent of one another is to leave this setting on the "CPU saving" setting.
    Hope that helps

  • Duplicate and sync a mono audio track?

I just switched over from FCP7 to CS5.5 PPRO.
When I was in FCP, I used to do a OPTION/SHIFT on my Mac key board and drag the mono audio to to the next one down
and it would duplicate the audio track.
Then, I chould highlight both and sync them together so if I moved the volume or did keyframing on one track it would
also affect the other audio track.
Is there means of quickly doing the same in PPRO?

The first part is accomplished using the standard Copy/Paste methodology.
The second part isn't possible.  You can only adjust one effect at a time.
Having said that, I'm curious why you'd need to duplicate a mono track?

  • Merging clips results in several duplicate audio channels/tracks

I am trying to sync my audio and video in Premiere, and something is screwing it up.
I have my video track, that has 2 audio tracks.
Then I have my polyphonic wav file, that has 5 audio tracks.
    2+5 = 7, right?
So why is it, when I merge my two clips together, that Premiere decides to create 20 additional tracks for my Merged Clip, totaling 27 tracks?! The majority of them are blank/empty/silent. Why is it doing this?

I don't understand this part of your explanation. It's been a while since I've used PE, since FCPX's sync and multicam features work so well.
Why not try a short test – skipping the PE steps entirely. Select two of your clips and let FCP automatically create a test multiclip matching the HVX waveforms with those on the 5D. Open in the Angle Editor – or start a test project and see whether the boom mic track is present.

  • How Do I Get Rid of Unwanted Audio Track?

I am bringing DPX files into Photoshop as Image Sequences. Afterwards, I am using Export…Render Video, set to Adobe Media Encoder, H.264.
The resulting H.264 files have an AAC audio track (presumably, with nothing but zeros, because there is no audio with this material.) How do I prevent Photoshop from adding an audio track?
I don't see a way to delete the audio track from the timeline. I don't see a way to export only video in the Render Video settings.

Mylenium, thanks for bringing that to my attention, because it didn't occur to me.
However, it brings up a different problem. In the Adobe Media Encoder, Create Preset settings, I don't see a way to set it to a custom frame rate, such as 16 frames per second, if I want to use the MPEG4 wrapper.
One of the reasons that I am bringing these DPX files into Photoshop in the first place is so that I can do this:

  • Creating audio tracks in logic 8.

    Hi,
Having used logic 8 for about half a year now I have had no problems whatsoever.
However, about a week ago, when creating new audio tracks this happens.
I create 2 tracks for example
Audio track 1 works as normal and below the level meter at the bottom left I see the symbol to change from mono to stereo. I select it as mono.
Audio track 2 looks normal at first but has no symbol at the bottom of the meter to select mono/stereo...
I cannot do anything with this track. If I selected Audio track 1 as stereo. Audio track 2 comes up with the message:
    Audio 2
Controlled by stereo object "Audio 1-2"
I want it to go back to normal so I can record on every track! What is going on?!
There is probably quite a simple fix for this... I just can't seem to work it out.
    Many thanks,

    How? This should work:
Of course you need the command New... from the Local arrange menu Tracks. It sounds like you've used *New with Duplicate Setting* instead.
However, you can reassign tracks by ctrl-clicking on the track header:
Audio track 1 works as normal and below the level meter at the bottom left I see the symbol to change from mono to stereo. I select it as mono.
Audio track 2 looks normal at first but has no symbol at the bottom of the meter to select mono/stereo...

You have two channel strips assigned to one track... reassign it, or just delete the 'slave' and create a fresh one. Again, it looks like you (or Logic) have used the *New with Duplicate Setting* command somehow.

  • Can't add a new audio track without any settings

Can anyone tell me were faced with the same problem. Doing audio post production in Logic Pro X, the latest version, the project is big, At some stage the work I was faced with the fact that you can't add a new audio track without any settings, no matter what inserts I track with duplicate settings of one of the tracks and it begins to sound with this track. I don't add a new audio track with duplicate settings. I add a new one, and I still opens the track with some sort of settings. What is it? This is a glitch or I'm somewhere that we have not considered? Duplicates the configuration of one of the tracks collected in group 1, which I did for editing convenience. Duplicates and also automation and if the new track am I doing something then this machine is transferred to the existing track from this group.

Everything works in full 'Logic Pro X' mode. It's just a glitch in my project. The problem while you decide this: I insert a new track and it reset and set the output.

  • Audio Tracks Disappear When Zooming on Timeline

It's very strange, but whenever I zoom in on a certain portion of a timeline I'm working on, audio tracks warp, change, duplicate, or disappear altogether. See below for a video:
Does anyone have any idea as to what this could be? Thanks in advance for all and any help!

It's actually a feature film I've been working on for quite a while – most likely several CC versions back, maybe even from CS6 – sorry I can't remember off the top of my head. Could that be what's causing it? Is there any fix? Or do projects that have been upgraded several time throughout CC update history always have this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Separating audio Tracks 1 and 2 in Final Cut Pro 6

Hello, So this may seem like a easy question but for some reason I'm having trouble.
I am editing a project with two audio tracks. Track 1 is a lav microphone and track 2 is (back up) boom mic.
All of track 1 is great with the wireless mic so I want to get rid of track 2 and duplicate track 1 and make that new track 2.
I've done this before and never had any problems but now I can't disconnect the two tracks.  If one is locked then the other will not
delete.  They are stuck together and will not do anything independently.
    I'm curious what I'm missing.
If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    J-

Click on the audio tracks in the timeline to select them, then go to the menu Modify > Stereo Pair to toggle if you want them to behave as a stereo pair or not (you do not).

  • How to DETECT DUPLICATE AUDIO files within a SEQUENCE?

    Hi...
I'm working on a 45:00 sequence which is wall-to-wall music...
Unfortunately, I've had to recut it so many times that some of the music tracks are repeated. I need to eliminate them.
I love the "show duplicate frames" setting in the sequence (for video), is there a similiar setting for audio?
In Avid, there's a 'reverse match frame' button which allows one to load a clip into the viewer and then see where it appears throughout the sequence.
Does fcp have anything comparable? Any workaround for this?
    Thanks,
    Mark

Pressing F will match the Playhead from the Canvas to the Viewer when the Canvas or Timeline is the active window and from the Viewer to the Canvas when the Viewer is the active window.
Shift F will locate the source clip in the Browser
Turning off Auto Select for the video tracks in the Timeline will match back to an independant audio track -for instance a piece of music, when you press F.

  • I want to clip an voiceover audio track to seperate the audio into two tracks. How do I do that in iMovie 09?

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to take one voiceover audio track and seperate into two tracks so I can have a timed pause in between the two tracks. In HD I could clip the audio tracks and move them. What can I do in iMovie 09?
    Thank you

I would duplicate the project. Then delete everything except the portion with the VoiceOver.
Then Share/Export Using QuickTime as Sound to AIFF. Then edit it in GarageBand.

  • Premiere Elements 13 (not Pro), recorded a video with mono mic input (left channel only), need to create 2-channel (left and right) audio track for finished product. Help?

The question says it all. I have been all over the tutorials as well as the menus inside Premiere 13 and cannot find how to edit the audio track beyond basic balance, volume, etc.
I can see the Audio 1 track, shows audio in left channel only, but it will not respond to attempts to select, cut/copy, paste, etc.
Basically I just want to turn one-channel audio into two-channel audio.

Sure you do not want to give the Fill Left and Fill Right another try?
According to the Adobe document Adobe Premiere Elements Help | Effects reference
    Fill Left, Fill Right
The Fill Left effect duplicates the left channel information of the audio clip and places it in the right channel, discarding the original clip’s right channel information. The Fill Right effect duplicates the right channel information and places it in the left channel, discarding the existing left channel information. For example, you might use this effect on footage shot with a monaural microphone plugged into only one channel of a camcorder, extending the voice of a speaker from one channel to both.
From what you wrote, your Premiere Pro video seems to be saying the same.
If that Premiere Elements Fill Left or Fill Right is no go, you might want to explore what you can do in this regard using the free audio editor Audacity.
Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder
And, then import the Audacity edited audio back into Premiere Elements project as source media.
    Is the speaker system OK?
We will be watching for your results.
    Thanks for the follow up.
