Unwanted Horizontal lines in PDF (print to file)

From any other program, printing to Adobe PDF produces a pdf file that contains unwanted horizontal lines, oddly spaced, on entire page. Have tried multiple settings/configs and am unable to stop this annoying behavior. Any tips are appreciated.

Me too! Just yesterday, Aug. 4!
I get horizontal lines about 0.4 inches apart on the prints, but no lines on the PDF on the monitor. They just show up on the print.
It happened the day I ran malware and virus scans in the morning.
It only affects prints from PDFs created by SolidWorks.  WORD documents print fine.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled my HP printer software.
I did the repair for Adobe reader 9.3.3
I even changed my ink cartridges that were low.
What else can I try?
What caused this? Is it because our names are Paul?
I tried to contact Adobe without spending $39, but was unsuccessful. I thought maybe they would like to know about problems. Is the forum the only way to do that?

    Hi Ben,
I can't reproduce that behavior.  The only two things I can think of at the moment are (1) you accidentally added a shortcut as a panel shortcut instead of a diagram shortcut or (2) the name of the object you specified isn't for the "Multiply" node, but for some other node (you said "Multiplication" in your initial post) that can only be dropped in certain places (i.e. maybe it's a node that is only valid in Simulation diagrams).  Can you post the following lines from your LabVIEW INI file so I can look into it further:
    QuickDropDiagramShortcuts
    QuickDropPanelShortcuts
    Let me know,

    Edit:  Yeah, what he said.

  • Horizontal lines don't print

When printing Excel spreadsheets on my HP Officejet 5470 in Draft mode, many horizontal lines fail to print.  If I switch to Normal mode, all lines print.  I prefer Draft mode for faster printing and to save ink.  My 2-month-old Officejet 5470 replaced an Officejet 4500 on which I never had this problem.  Any idea what's wrong and how I can fix it?  Thanks.

Oops - Imeant to say 5740, not 5470

  • Unwanted colored lines appearing on printed PDF. ONly happens from Acrobat Pro XI. Help? Setting?

Unwanted colored lines are appearing on various sections of my printed PDF.
This Only happens from Acrobat Pro XI.  The PDF prints fine  from photoshop or Illustrator.
Is there a setting I need to enable/disable?  I have the most current update.

  • Adobe PDF Printing - no file is created

    Hi there,
We have Adobe CS6 installed on our network, which includes Adobe Acrobat X Pro.
Our clients are Windows 7 64-bit.
We are experiencing a problem when it comes to printing to PDF.  e.g. using notepad or Microsoft Word, when selecting "File >> Print" and "Adobe PDF"
We are presented with the "Save PDF File As" prompt, and at this point you can see the document appear in the Adobe PDF print queue with the status "Spooling".  However once we've chosen the file name and location, and chosen "Save" no file is created.  The job disappears from the print queue.
We have tried a number of fixes based on other forum posts, such as choosing the print driver (AdobePDF.inf) again from C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF and repairing the Adobe Acrobat X Pro installation.....but to no avail.
We are able to create PDFs within the Adobe Acrobat X Pro progam without any problems.
I suspect from what someone else has written, this might have something to do with acrotray.exe but I'm not sure how to diagnose/fix this.
We would greatly appreciate some further advice!
    Thanks!!

The print process for PDFs as you have described is to create a PS file and then activate Distiller in the background to complete the process. A necessarily background application for this process is AcroTray that I suspect someone has removed. To check the process at the base level, use these steps:
    1. use print-to-file and save the file someplace you can find
    2. open the file in Distiller (it should be a PS file, but with a PRN extension or type)
    3. You should get a PDF
If the conversion fails in Distiller, you will get errors on the screen -- typically related to graphics or fonts that you are trying to use or embed. You may find that .log files have already been created when you said you got no PDF. If that is the case, the log-file will let you know what the problem is (if you can figure out what is said -- or post here).
So there are 2 common problems: 1. that errors occurred and are recorded in the log file or 2. AcroTray is not active.

  • Right Click PDF print the file prints & closes Adobe stays open

This issue has been brought up in the past however there does not appear to be an adequate solution.
It appears it was introduced as far back as version 8, I am basing from what I read in posting.
When you right click a PDF to print Adobe opens the file prints the file closes however the Adobe Reader window stays open.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2604089#2604089
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/1780621#1780621
The right click print is not the only instance of this behavior.
When other programs are useed to call Adobe Reader to produce & print the PDF the Adobe Reader remains open.
It seems like a small thing but it is a large annoyance and I can't think of why it would be desired by anyone.
    Adobe, please fix this.

If you have a postscript printer or rip which has the ability to create hot folders to link to the printer queues you could simply drag-n-drop and PDL (page description language) file like PDF, PS, EPS to that hot folder to initiate printing. Again, very dependent on your printer/rip device.

  • PDF printer driver file naming issue

Hello, I'm not sure if I'm in the right place for this question but here goes. When I use the PDF printer driver to "print" a PDF file from InDesign or Illustrator, the file name is appended with extra information I don't want. For example, I want just "FileName.pdf, but what comes up in the dialog box is: FileName.ai @50% (CMYK-Preview).pdf. So I have to waste time deleting the extra information. Is there any way to turn this off? Is the PDF printer driver causing this or is it a feature of InDesign or Illustrator? All of us in our art department have looked for an answer to this but can't find even a mention of this on the forums. It's really frustrating!
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Tom

I think the title may be coming from the caption of the window that is
open. If so, try printing from a window when you are NOT in CMYK
    preview, 50% etc.

  • Horizontal lines in any exported video file type in Elements 9

I have switched from Elements 4 to Elements 9 for my video production, and I have not been able to get rid of the horizontal lines in ANY file type or with any setting.  I have tried everything I've read so far on these forums.
A lot of comments say that exporting to WMV is the problem, but I export hundreds of videos to WMV with Elements 4 on my 32-bit XP computer.
Whether in 32-bit XP or on my new super powerful 64-bit Windows 7 computer, Elements 9 renders lines with motion. The screen shot shows a typical example.  Butterflies as flying lines, and the edge of a tree, as I panned, has a shadow along it made of many lines.

I said in the last sentence of the last post that I only get the red line if I add an effect or transition, just as you predicted.
I brought up the older camera because Elements 4.0 and my XP computer handled every bit of DV or HDV footage from that older camera, while Elements 9 on the XP computer and my new super computer won't handle ANY footage properly if it contains rapid movement.
I make videos to use on local computers and to be viewed over the internet.  I use the WMV Lan setting when I export.  It worked perfectly with 4.0.
Now, this is exactly where I see all attempts in other forums going astray--the assumption that WMVs may be the problem inherently.  I have processed hundreds of WMVs with 4.0 and they look great at any viewing size on the screen and on a local computer or viewed over the internet. 4.0 has worked perfectly for this.  I'm stumped!
This combing appeared in a Flash video I made yesterday.  I sure appreciate the time you put into helping us deperate people.

  • Horizontal Lines in saved AVI preview file

    Hi all,
On another thread I was asking why I was getting an error message when trying to export and save a movie, but now I was able to get a temp AVI file after hitting enter and saving a preview file, but this AVI preview file, which is normally of the same quality of the full saved file I think, has horizontal lines in it that are very obvious compared to the original file... below are the sample still screenshots to compare...
Clean original 720x480 30 fps AVI file
Horizontal lines showing in this Premiere 720x480 30 fps AVI preview file
I have a file imported in to the timeline and it is set to play in  reverse via the speed setting being set to -100 and it plays back in the  preview window correctly, in reverse, when I click the play button.
But when I do a  "File>Export Timeline>Movie" command I get an error message saying "An error occurred while making the movie. Error writing file (disk full?)"...  but my hard drive is not nearly full, with over 30 gigs left open on  it... and my RAM usage gadget shows over half of my RAM capacity is  unused.
But I got a temp preview file that was generated after hitting enter to play the preview after I wasn't able to save, and that's how I got this file... and I think the temp files are normally just as sharp as the final saved files because they take just as long to generate when previewing by hitting enter as they do when doing and export and save.
Also, this process saved an 8.5 gigabyte AVI file from a 1.5 megabyte AVI file using the CamStudio codec.
Another try using the MSU lossless codec produced a 3.5 gigabyte AVI file that looked better, but wouldn't play any faster than about one frame per second after an hour and a half of saving time.
Does anyone have any solutions?... also I see that the new file from Premiere shows a larger screen size, though it was saved at the same 720x480 size as the original was.
    Thanks,
    numetro

Yes, that's what I started with, but it wouldn't render a working file  of reversed video for anything over 2 minutes or so... so that's when I  started trying everything else in the world... including these ridiculous attempts and resulting problems with Premiere trying to handle the complex task of saving a video file correctly.
If Apple can make a simple "REVERSE" button in its user friendly iMovie app, why can't anyone else?
Originally there was Xander's Video Time Reversal, that worked for me  before and still works for some files, but just won't work on other  slightly longer files and produces blank or unusable files 75 percent of  the time, and Xander's French forum admin committee was asleep at the  wheel while I waited for approval to ask a question.
Then there was "Rehan's" method of using two different apps (VirtualDub and Avisynth) and writing AVS script files in notepad... compared to this, it may be easier to have the desired video clip re-enacted in reverse with professional actors and a special effects team than it would be to use Rehan's method.
Then there is Stupeflix.com, which seems to be all the name implies since they were bragging about a webpage with an upload button to upload a clip to, and then a download button to get the reversed clip from... but the link for this magic page is nowhere to be found in the conversation on the blog site that was talking about it, and Stupeflix.com itself currently shows no feature of the kind.
Then finally at the long awaited end of this of my odyssey, after Premiere and before going back to XVTR, there was "K-5 Video Reversal Tool" and after reading the description about the needed codec pack and deciphering which download button is actually for the Video Reversal Tool and not one of those trick "Download Here" buttons that takes me to a virus laden site in Siberia, I did find a download link for it that is from Cnet.com... but then that app didn't work at all, even for very short, uncompressed AVI files, which it was supposed to handle with no problem... but it would flash a command prompt screen for a quarter second, then give a message stating that it produced the reversed file... which of course, it did not.  And the guy that coded this gem has a chat thing on his K-5 website that he keeps responding to my original question about and he just can't admit that the app doesn't work.
I feel like... I've wasted a day and a half... now two days after writing so much.
    Thanks,
    digi

  • Please hep to generate same line number to print in file

    Hi
I am generating file by taking data from few tables. I need to generate file data from below structure data :
i.e In table A for order O having product p1,p2,p3,p4, lines will be wrriten to file in following manner
    Line Number
    O -p1 - 1
    O -p2 - 2
    O -p3 - 3
    O -p4 - 4
Now another line is from table which will have only two product entries for the order O in below manner
i.e In table B for order O having product p2,p4. so for this lines should be match with above line number of order like this :
    Line Number
    O - p2 -2
    O - p4 -4
First all data from table A will be writeen. Then only from TABLE B data should be wrriten to file.
Can anybody please help how to match line number for both the tables?
    Thanks in advance

Perhaps a clearer output would be if we had different descriptions on each of the tables A an B to output with each of the rows..

  • Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Standard - PDF Printer suppress file name prompt

    Hi,
We are currently developing a product for Autodesk Revit with regards to drawing generation/export.  Revit does not have an inbuilt PDF writer.  As such most users either use free PDF Printers or Adobe Acrobat Standard.
We have managed to automate the naming of files using some of the free PDF printers, and suppress the file save as name prompt for each sheet in a set of prints.
We'd also like to add support for Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Standard.  Is this possible through the Acrobat API?
Any prompt help would be greatly appreciated as we are keen to get our product out to market very soon!
    Thanks.

Thanks.  That's all I needed for now.  Our developer will take a look when he comes to doing that section of the product.
    Cheers.

  • Vertical Lines in PDF printed from ACAD?

    Hello all,
I've searched and searched and have found nothing, others are also having this same issue but haven't found a fix.
Issue: In ACAD I have a TIFF image inserted and i am printing to PDF. When I open the PDF there are vertical lines that show up and also print out. If I print from ACAD to the printer the vertical lines do not show up so I do not believe this is caused by the TIFF image (I've been wrong before though). Is there any setting that would turn these vertical lines off?
I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard.
    Thanks!
    Jeff

Here is an image of the PDF. As you can see there are vertical lines and they do print out. Anyone know why?

  • Photoshop Elements 12 - Does this version fix the bug in Stylize Extrude which causes unwanted horizontal lines in bottom right of resulting graphic?

Correction:  Bottom left of resulting graphic.

FWIW I don't see that, but I don't think I have in any previous version, either. Here's one photo:
But the best thing would be for you to download the trial and see for yourself, since you know best the exact conditions which are causing it for you.
