Unwanted pause in preview

I have a slide with several text boxes that appear in 2 second intervals.
This is controlled via the timeline.
When I preview the slide it runs ok and then stops prior to the first text box appearing.
On some slides it works fine on others nothing.
I can see no difference between the slides. The text boxes are not hidden, when I preview through the timeline player everything works fine.
If I press play in the preview it continues ok. I just want to loose the pause!
Any ideas?
Many thanks V

Post screenshots of the timeline to see the difference between one that pauses, and one that doesn't. By default Text Entry Boxes will pause at 1.5secs.
Which preview do you use? Because 'Play Slide' (with play button in Timeline panel) or F3 is NOT a preview, it is only meant to be used for synchronizing reasons during editing. You need another preview mode, best one is In Browser (F12) or in HTML Browser (F11), it is closest to the situation after publishing.

  • Unwanted Pause?

    Hello Everyone,
I would like to ask you for your help.I am building a DVD with motion Menus but there seems to be a problem. When it transition from Motion video to the menu there is a unwanted pause which makes the menu look like it is 2 parts(which is correct) but i wanted it to play as one without stoping so it looks like one.
I have searched on the net and noticed that this is common problem with motion menus.
There is a solution that states to make the both menus as one clip but then when i link the PSD menu i can not tell the menu to show up at particular point of the clip.Because i have a intro and then main menu. And both i want to play as one.
Other refer to change GOP to 12(which i dont know how to do it or what it is).
Is there a solution for that?

Let me tell you waht i did.
I have expanded the menus from 30sec to 3min duration. In this case the chance that person viewing the dvd will let it run for 3 min is nearly zero. But just in case i also made that the duration of the video is less then the actual duration to prevent the black frame. It seems it is working for main menu but seems to still show black frame for scene menu. But in any case i make the menu duration longer and like i said in that case the change to see problem with seamless play is less.
Which other program is good for dvd Authoring(proffesional though?
I  was thinking at one point to join all the menus in one,but i need an option in motion tab"Start time" for the video so i can set at what point to start from the video.
Do you know any programs that would let me do that?
    Thank

  • Unwanted pause between chapters

Here's the problem. I am using DVD Studio Pro and there are unwanted pauses between chapters when played on SOME dvd players. The layout is such that hitting the "play movie" button activates track 1, which I have set different chapter markers in. Each chapter marker is set to endjump to the next without pause. The pause only occurs on some DVD players, not all. I don't know if the problem is in my layout/programming, settings that I am unaware of, or quality of dvd's or dvd burner (G4 powerbook superdrive). Any help would be sweet.

The problem is that your setting those end jump between chapters. No need for that - a player will play through the chapters automatically.

  • Cannot pause or preview animation to a certain time point.

    Hello All,
I have Adobe Captivate 4. I am leaving my work in 2 weeks time and i have been asked to record and talk about the software applications i use for my job.
I record my application (Autodesk Inventor) and it inserts the full motion preview into the slide. However i want to add highlight boxes, captions, text etc etc. So i use the timeline at the bottom and drag it to the right. As i am dragging it to lets say 20 seconds into the slide the animation (recording) is previwing as its meant to do. But once i release the mouse and leave the point to 20 seconds the animation previews at 0 seconds and no longer 20 seconds. But the red slider is still on 20 seconds (hope i am making sense here).
Its extremly fustrating because i cant add highlight boxes, text, captions etc because i cant get the animation to preview and stop at a certain time point.
Anyone know the cause of this?
I am using Windows 7 64-bit and i have ran the application as administrator.
    Thanks
    Ben

    Hi there
Perhaps it will help to explain how to exploit what is quite possibly a bug in Captivate.
Using the technique of scrubbing the playhead (clicking and dragging the playhead on the Timeline) keep the mouse button clicked as you press Alt+Tab to shift focus to another application. (the other application should be running full screen)
After the other application gains focus, release the mouse button.
Press Alt+Tab to return to Captivate.
What you should see at this point is that Captivate should behave as if you paused it. The playhead should be right where you left it with everything in view. You should now be able to insert a Text Caption or other object.
While I'm aware it's likely not what you were hoping for, perhaps it's better than nothing?

  • Ipod shuffle unwanted pauses

certain tunes always pause after 10 secs or so of play. what can i do to prevent this?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Do the songs stop altogether, and just pause for a few seconds? Does this affect purchased content from the iTunes Music Store, or just any kind of song?
Be sure that those tunes play OK in iTunes, and that it really is just your iPod's problem, not that songs's faultness.
Try restoring your iPod, then loading the content back onto it through iTunes again:

  • Unwanted Pausing

When I am recording screens on demonstration mode, I am
having slides pause inapropriately. This will happen within a
slide, ie the slide will not complete all actions, and is
translated through to the published swf file. The project will not
proceed without pausing and un-pausing the presentation. It will
also happen betwen slides, in that the transition between the two
slides will not complete without pausing and un-pausing the
    presentation.
The project I am referring to, as an example is:
    4560 KB in size
    Project Size 790 X 545 Browser, Originally captured @ 1152 X
    864 and resized
    Contains 23 slides
    14 Bitmap Images(Backgrounds) @ 1682 KB each
    3 Bitmap Images(Images) 1 @ 1191 KB, 1 @ 3673 KB, 1 @ 3889 KB
    2 Audio Clips, 1 @ 55 KB, 1 @ 653 KB
    1 Fullmotion Video @ 437 KB

    Hi again
Just downloaded the file and I see you have two buttons on
each slide. The buttons are what is pausing the movie. By default,
the very nature of Button and Click Box objects is to pause the
movie until your user interacts. What you can do is to double-click
one of the buttons and click the Options tab. There, DE-select the
"Pause after" check box. After you do this, click the check box at
the bottom of the dialog labeled "Apply to all". Then click the
Settings button next to the check box. Make the following
selections: Apply only changed properties and Apply to all slides.
    Then click Close and OK.
After you make those changes, your movie should play right
along. However, you will probably want to change the timings of the
buttons. As after you do this, you very briefly see the buttons.
I'm guessing that won't be what you want.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Unwanted pausing between songs

I just updated to the new version of iTunes. Now, when I use the 'Party Shuffle' feature, rather than going straight from one song to the next, it keeps stopping after each song. This means I have to keep hitting the play button every few minutes, which is incredibly annoying.
I have noticed that tracks I have added to iTunes since upgrading to the new version do not have this problem, and play as normal.
Can someone tell me how I can go back to iTunes 6 or fix this problem with iTunes 7 as there is no way I want to load up hundreds of CDs again.

by any chance, do you have "crossfade playback" selected in your itunes Playback preferences tab?
if so, by way of experiment, try switching crossfade playback off. does Party Shuffle start behaving normally for you again?

  • Unwanted pausing and freezing at the beginning - Flash player problem - Need help

    Hi everybody,
I have got the following problem: the problem occurs especially on youtube.com.
Every time when I open a video, the adobe flash player buffers the video a little bit and suddenly the grey line, which means the buffering on youtube video, stops. Then video plays only until the end of the grey buffer line. Then it freeze and I have to wait until 10-20 seconds until the grey line continues moving forward and at the same time the video continues to play.
But I don't want to have that freezing problem at the beginning of each video.
The important thing to know is: when I used a very old version of the flash player (the version 9 or 10) then every video on youtube worked very well without any freezing problems at the beginning
What is the solution. Can you please help me?
Here is what I have done so far:
I updated my flash player to the latest version.
My internet speed is very fast.
When I click right on the youtube video screen in order to go to the settings: then I unchecked "active hardware acceleration, I changed the temporary storage limit to "unlimited".
My global settings looks like the following: I checked "allow websites to save information on your computer" and "ask if a website wants to use a peer assisted network".
    My OS: Windows 7 (64)
Current version of firefox, chrome and IE. I have the problem in every browser.
In the attachment you can see 2 screenshots of my problem: One where you can see the grey buffer line. and the 2nd: where you can see that the video stopped loading and buffering and the video stopped playing.
Unfortunately, I don't get money from the company for advertising its product *sigh*. ;-)

Just because your internet connection is fast doesn't mean that the route from the specific server to you is also equivalently fast.  You can get some additional information by right-clicking the YouTube video and choosing Stats for nerds.  That information would be interesting.
If video plays back fine once it actually buffers successfully, then there's probably not a lot you can do.  You might take a look at a different browser.  Google Chrome will probably use HTML5 playback on YouTube, and Internet Explorer will use the ActiveX control on Flash, which is significantly different from the NPAPI Flash Player used in Firefox.

  • Color changes in preview

Hello, I'm so tired trying to figure out the reason of a problem in Premiere Pro (my version is 6.0.4). I'm very frustrated just because I've spent too much time trying to solve the problem which is so ridiculous! What I'm doing is just trying to color corect my footage with the help of Color Finesse plugin. The problem is that I can see different results in full screen Color Finesse preview and PP windows preview. Sure you could kick me off this forum saying that it's not Premiere Pro but 3-d party plugin problem but I want to tell you that it's not!
The point is that I can see the right result of the color correction in Premiere Pro when I'm scrolling the preview unless I mouse up to stop the timeline cursor being dragged. Once I just mouse up the image in preview changes! I even set up the similar options of resolution for playback and pause in preview but I still can see the same issue. I also tried to change the sequence options of preview rendering (max bit depth, max rendering quality) but all in vain. I surely get this result when exporting - it seems that PP use in this situation the same rendering engine as what is shown in preview when the cursor stops.
But what really confuses me that in dragging timeline cursor mode I can see the proper colors that I made with Color Finesse! Isn't it an issue?! Haven't anybody noticed anything similar? The image in my case seems to be more red and whites are cut. I thought that there is might be some problems with color spaces but I just don't know what to do in Premiere! I tried to color correct my footage in After Effects with the same Color Finesse settings and then export it  - everything is ok with colors! But not in premiere! By the way in both cases of exporting (premiere, after effects) I can see that the result image is in YUV color space with chroma subsampling 4:2:0, 8 bits, progressive though I choose RGB in After Effects when exporting (I can see it in Media Player Classic's properties of the footage).
Please, can anyone help me with this issue or is it really an Adobe Premiere bug?
I thought that there are some problems with color spaces and tried to watch YC waveform. But I guess that my original footage was even worse in it though I can not see any issues or color cutting with my original footage in premiere pro window. Color finesse window show another results. What's happening?...

Thank you, Bob, for answering. And I would also would like to thank you for creating such a convenient instrument for After Effects (cause you see - I seem to can not use it under premiere pro).
I guessed that in dragging mode PPro tried to optimise rendering in different ways clipping it from all the sides etc. But the problem is that all is vice versa: I do like the result in dragging mode and it's the same as in full Color Cinesse instrument and I can see clipping in stop cursor preview mode. Unfortunately there is no any difference on Ppro YCwaveform in this two modes (dragging, stop cursor) so I have to load images from footages (from Composite Video view).
That's why It does not help that the result I see in PPro when not dragging is what will render to my final output (maybe I'm wrong, maybe highlights are not cut but just more reddish...but I can feel more difference in video - the first one looks much better).
Do I correctly understand that dragging mode differs from stopping not just in that 8-bit image is handed instead of 32-bit but also that the first one is RGB but the second one is YUV (there are no YUV modes in Color Finesse full interface in some reason)? So is it possible that clipping happens with 32-bit YUV image? We could test your plugin by feeding it my original video footage (you should test it in PPro) - if you wish - and you could see - why there is difference (I understand that it may take some time so I seem to not wait to the results and find another way of color correcting though I very much like Color Finesse).
So - I'm sorry. In this case the problem seems to be exactly in Color Finesse? But anyway I don't understand why not implement Color Management in PPro such as it's done in After Effects or maybe even better by having several options. I think that sometimes you'd better have several options instead having no ability to do something.
P.S. Bob, I also have a suggestion for your plugin - it's kind of UI improvement. It's a good idea to have the ability to reset each option (each slider) by just double clicking on it's name just as it's done in Lightroom.

  • Unable to play preview clip on timeline Premiere Elements 10

All of a sudden, I'm unable to preview clips, even in unfinished projects that used to work. I'm running Premiere Elements 10, Windows 8.1, Flash updated etc. These clips are activated, not rendered (red line above) but doesn't show. However, if I play the clip, I can hear the sound. Sometimes the program crashes, and I have to start all over again.
Update: Now, when I click on the clip on the timeline, preview window shows one frame, while the marker continues to "play" the clip(without showing anything but the first frame as a still picture. When hitting pause again, preview window shows a still where the clip was stopped...This happens on some of the clips on the timeline. Some are just pure black

    Yes, that could be it!
I do have a NVIDA graphics card! And it's updated with the latest drivers...
Now, I'll have to find out how to do a roll back...I'll read the thread you suggested and hope for the best!
    Thanks for the answer!
    Additional info:
Some of the clips that wont play in the preview or full screen window, shows a still picture when setting thetimeline to it AND THE clicking on the preview window. A still shows up, but nothing happens when a hit play. Some of the clips are from my GoPro Hero3 Black, but they seem to pay fine as long as I havn't used zoom on them. On many GoPro clips I've used zoom to minimize the "fisheye" effect, and then it wont play.

Any chance you could be part of a growing crowd of Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA video card users who have run into the NVIDIA video card driver issue. For the now of this issue, the answer seems to be to roll back the driver version rather than assure that you have the latest version of it.
Please check out the following thread here where I have sought to keep track of these happenings.

  • Video preview skipping/freezing after a few seconds

    Hi All,
I am a new user of Premiere Pro and am having an anoying issue with video stuttering/skipping in the preview windows when editing.
I am trying to edit GoPro footage shot from a Hero 3 Black in 1080p 60fps. The video preview is at 1/2 res and it will play smoothly for about 3 seconds, then start skipping. If I pause the preview for a few seconds and restart, it catches up and plays smooth for 3 more seconds or so, then skips again.
I have tried to convert the raw gopro footage to a premier preset (MPEG-2) using brosoft video converter and have the same problem.
I thought it may be due to hardware limitations with my older PC, but I have upgraded the slowest parts of the system with no luck (the rest of the PC is running like lightening now though).
    Here is the current setup:
    OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
    CPU - AMD Phenom X4 9750 - 2.4Ghz Quad core - 64bit - specs: http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AMD-Phenom%20X4%209750%20-%20HD9750XAJ4BGH%20(HD9750XAGH BOX).html
    Ram - 8.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 400MHz
Motherboard - ASUSTeK Computer INC. M2N68-VM (AM2) (sata II, not sata III compatable)
    Graphics - 1535MB GeForce GTX 580 (EVGA)
    HDs -
New 256GB Samsung MZ-7PD256 840 Pro Series Solid State Drive (SATA) - System drive
932GB Western Digital WDC WD10EADS-00M2B0 ATA Device (SATA) - Video storage
1863GB Western Digital WDC WD20EARX-00PASB0 ATA Device (SATA) - General storage
Is there anything else I should be trying here or is this just a limitation of HD video??? Surely I should be able to preview what I am trying to edit without pausing the footage every 3 seconds? =(.

I have a few other things running at the same time, but I disable network, Antivirus, Media Server apps etc etc (anything thats hungry).
When play skipps I see RAM at about 50-60% useage, CPU below 50 % on all 4 cores. I have notised that the HDD spikes up to 100% at times but then drops off. I have tried running everything off my SSD and seems to make no difference.
When I render a clip, it play perfectly....so seems to just be the preview of the GoPro clips thats causing issues. I will have a play with converting the footage to something smaller/lower quallity, but that defeats the purpose of shooting HD footage.
Another thing I have been notising is that the rendered final clip is rather blury/has some issues with fast moving footage. Any ideas?

  • Quiz Slide Pausing Issue

I'll do my best to explain my situation. I just got Captivate 8, and am just getting comfortable with the environment. But for the life of me, I can't figure out why my quiz slides are pausing at the end and not continuing to the next slide. I am using master slides, and custom navigation buttons. My intention is to not include the built in playback controls, as I wanted to have my navigation stylized and placed a bit differently. I do have Playback controls enabled currently, to help me troubleshoot the issue. My Back and Refresh buttons work fine, but whenever I click the Next button (set to the Continue Action), it will complete the current slide, but pause somewhere in the transition. The only way to continue at this point is to press Play in the Playback controls. I've tried making this button a master slide button (by using a smart shape, and selecting Use As Button) and I've tried putting the button on each individual slide, but the problem seems to be the same (or similar) no matter what.
Thanks in advance, and feel free to nag me for more details.

Well, this is what I get for being an idiot. You made me realize that there was something silly I was overlooking. I had a button in the Master Slide that was set for the Exit action. I guess that action automatically has a pause at the end of it in the timeframe, so it adds an extra, unwanted pause if included on the Master. I removed it and placed it on each individual slide, and it's working fine now. But for the record, In Captivate 7 I was just using a blank master, and (stupidly) copying every element that should have been templatized onto each slide... I'm not the greatest self-learner.
Thanks a million for pointing me in the right direction.

  • Improvement Suggestion: Add Animation to Movie Clips in Repositories

    Hi there,
I have been trying to post this improvement suggestion by filling-in the corresponding form but it didn't allow me enough characters to describe it correctly. So I am posting it here now and going to reference it in the Improvement Suggestion form...
Currently it's hard to perform a good edit because Adobe Premiere Pro doesn't provide a clip basket showing all available clips running, allowing the user to preview and choose from different takes of the same scene.
I'd like to suggest to animate all movie clips in all repositories, like Media Browser and Project panels, in order to create kind of an animated lightbox.
These clips should be run without audio, in low resolution and, optionally, at a lower framerate, depending on the machine's capabilities and user's preferences.
Clicking (and thereby activating) one of those movie clips should ...
    magnify that clip,
    enable audio for that clip,
    display a timeline,
and display an in-point and an out-point marker.
Using these markers, the user shall be able to limit the preview loop of the clip in that particular repository (e.g. to repetitively monitor only a small scene of the movie clip).
Here's a link to a small movie clip demonstrating the improvement suggestion as a virtual live demonstration:
(While recording I was suffering from a tonsillitis, so the text might be hard to understand from time to time.)

After carrying this thought with me around for a while I'd like to add an update to my original suggestion:
When comparing different takes (= clips) of the same recorded live scenes, the usual editing process while working with Premiere Pro would be to drill down on the take that's supposed to be inserted into the sequence. So if there were 8 takes of the same scene, first there would be 8 clips to compare, then 7, 6, 5, 4... until the final clip is found.
In the course of the comparison process it would be very helpful to be able to "switch off" those takes that have been decided not to be used. So I'd like to update my suggestion to provide the following additional features:
Each preview clip should provide a play/pause feature. So playback shall be switched on and off individually for each of the preview clips.
As mentioned in my original suggestion, when activated (zoomed), the preview should provide buttons for manipulating that clip preview's playback. Originally I suggested a Play Audio button (with a speaker symbol).
I now, additionally, suggest to add a Play/Pause button to an activated (zoomed) clip preview. If playback is active, that button should display a Pause icon. If playback is paused, the same button should display a Play icon.
Given that, an active preview would be displayed something like this:
After a clip has been selected for an insert, the next editing step would be to search a clip from the repository for the next insertion into the sequence. So all tracks would be back in the game.
So there should be a new menu item, resuming playback of all preview clips in the repository: "Edit > Preview > Play all clips".
If the user wants to concentrate on the Program Montitor video, he/she should be able to pause all preview clips. So I suggest the should be a new menu item complementing the previous one: "Edit > Preview > Pause all clips".
Some people might prefer not to see any animation in the repositories at all. For them there should be a new option available in Premiere Preferences to pause all preview clips by default (this setting would equal to the current behaviour).
The user might want to concentrate on a single preview clip and just want to have this single clip being played back when activated (zoomed).
So I suggest there should also be a Solo option available.
By holding the [CTRL] key down while clicking the Play/Pause button suggested in provision #1, all preview clips should be paused and the currently active (zoomed) preview clip should be played back alone.
In my suggestion I have been focussing on using Premiere Pro with the mouse. But there should be keyboard shortcuts available for all these actions, too.

  • Encore CS6 and loop point bug

    Hello,
does anyone know if the new Encore has fixed the black video, or unwanted pauses, (that happened playing loop point menus) of a BluRay disc burnt with the previous versions CS5 and CS5.5?
    Thanks in advance
    Giorgio

Actually I one of each. My rendering crash is with blu-ray, and my motion menu playback going to black is for a DVD.
I called tech support and they want money to work on non install issues.
One support person on the forum asked me to attach the dump file, yet this forum does not have a way to do so.
One support person listed his e-mail address but it is incorrect.
Only quick solution is to go back to CS5.5.

  • Permissions fix for secure.log and iTunes frameworks

    Aperture 1.5
PBG4 showed minor to considerable performance improvements. Once my main library finished running on the Quad, with 6600 traction engine, I started to do some real work.
The following is in Project View on some images with patches/healing and straighten applied.
IT WAS UGLY. SBOD every time I touched anything (yes, all previews completed). 45 secs to open the first image (8Mb RAW from Canon 20d). 5-6 secs. for any touch on Levels or Exposure. IMPOSSIBLE.
Switched off and reduced res. of JPG's in Preferences. No difference.
BTW Apple Devt. Spank time> There is NO way to turn off Preview creation and run as batch later that I can see. Please fix. Agreed they render in background but why not wait until you leave focus on that image .... it's recreating a preview after every adjustment I make. C'mon guys, get real, that should be fixed asap.
Quit Aperture, restarted. Just as bad. Aperture is the only app. running, and Activity Monitor shows 319% CPU with 480Mb RAM just with a Levels change ... sounds high. 6-7 sec. response time for anything I do and 20-40 secs for image rendering, except adjacent images. Quit Aperture.
Decided to run Repair Permissions (RAID = 0 drive). Fixed iTunes frameworks and secure.log. I believe secure.log to be the culprit.
Restarted Aperture and performance improvements obvious. Sliders now work real-time and image rendering a couple of seconds. Reapplied Preferences setting for Previews and no significant performance degradation (though it is interesting watching the task list pause the preview generation when you make further edits.)

It sounds like you should just turn off Maintain Previews for the project you are on (selct prj and change state in top level gear menu in prj pane) - then make your adjustments ( your previews won't be up to date then of course) but the when you are ready to make into previews just select all the images and choose Update Preview manually from the context menu.
