Update data targets from ODS

Hi Friends,
I have question regarding how to update data further from ODS.
I have ODS1 and ODS2.
ODS1 is having deltas updated from ODSA.
ODS2 is a new ODS and now needs to be updated from ODSA.
I have reviewed the help already.

I want to initially update the ODS2 with selection conditions from ODSA.
After that I want to load delta from ODSA to ODS2 by automating the process in process chain.

I am just repeating the procedure to cinfirm that I understand it properly.
1. Go to scheduler, Initialization option make the status of the overall request red.
2. when it asks for update the QM status to all data targets, select no.
3.and then delete the init. request from Scheduler.
By doing this we just deleting the initialization selection and the request in the subsequent data targets are still green and they contain data.
After that Init. without data transfer will do the work.
Please confirm,

Hello experts,
I have an ods (that has two delta loading every night) with the setting: "Update data targets from ODS object automatically". This ODS is source of only one other ODS.
But we have a chain when there are the seguent steps: delta 1 --> ODS1,
delta 2 --> ODS1; Activate ODS1; delta --> ODS2; Activate ODS2.
The setting "Update data targets...automatically" could create some problems?
I think this because it is happened that in delta loading of ODS2, some records have only the key filled, and all the data fields blank; then, if I make a full repair of these records, all data are correctly filled.
Could be this the cause?
Help me..it is urgent..

Hi Vito,
To have better control of processes when ods gets data from multiple sources and supply it forward to ODS and cube ...we generally deactivate the flag "update data automatically".
And Process chains looks like ..
From source 1,2,3 update data into ODS 1.
Activate Data ODS1
Initiate delta from ODS1 to ODS2.
Activate data ODS2.
We did face some problem of blank records with only key filled and later deactivated the checbox "Update data into data targets automatically" and it resovled lots of issues.

Direct vs Indirect data load from ODS - InfoCube

We know that there are two options to load data from ODS to InfoCube:
1. Direct load:
If the ODS setting is checked with the option of "Update data targets from ODS object automatically", then when loading data to ODS, then the data also can be loaded to the InfoCube, in this way, only one InfoPackage is needed to load data to the ODS, then the InfoCube can be filled with data automatically.
2. Indirect load:
If the ODS setting is NOT checked with the option of "Update data targets from ODS object automatically", then not only the InfoPackage to load the data to the ODS is needed, but also the InfoPackage to load data from the exported datasource of the ODS to the InfoCube is needed to be created in order to load the data from ODS to the InfoCube.
I wonder what are the pro and con between the above two loading methods from ODS to InfoCube.

HI Kevin,
Direct Loads or rather Automated Loads are usually used where u need to load data automatically into the final data target. And it has no dependencies.This process has less of maintenance involved and u need to execute a single infopackage to send data to the final data target.
But Indirect Loads are usually used when u have a number of dependencies and this ODs object is one of the object in a process chain. So if u require the this ODS data load wait till some other event has been executed , then indirect loads are used through process chains.

Error on activation of data records from ODS object

hi,
Kindly help with my BW Problem, the error occured on the
activation of ODS. The error says "Request
REQU_43MNOPW29W4F5M037J7OAFP52 in ODS ZPUR_O01 must have QM
status green before it is activated" and "Activation of data
records from ODS object ZPUR_O01 terminated"
I tried to check the data in the ODS Object by choosing
<LS>Administrator Workbench > data targets > context menu on ODS
Object ZPUR_O01 but the status are green and when i tried to
activate it the logs says "ODS object ZPUR_O01 was built
incorrectly. Cannot update request

1) delete the current request
2)Reconstruct the requests above three request

Then only u will be able to activate the ODS....
This is an serialization issue...

Process Chain : Read PSA and Update Data Target in BI 7.0

Hello Experts,
In my Process Chain I have a variant Execute Infopackage to load the data only into PSA. then I have next variant as *Read PSA and Update Data Target*. my data target was a Master Data table Hierarchy
In the variant " Read PSA and Update Data Target". the selection Parameters were
PSA.Table : 0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA1
Selection Object Type : same Infopackage in Varaint Execute Infopackage
the Error message was Variant doesnot contain a valid combination request/data target
I checked the PSA-Table using RSA1OLD Transaction then I find four PSA Tables:
0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA1
0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA2
0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA3
0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA4
All the requests are linked to PSA Table *0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA4*.
I can't understand why there exists four PSA Tables?
I try to link the PSA-table 0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA4 in the variant *Read PSA and Update Data Target and try to save it it raises short dump.
If I select 0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA1 in the varaint I shouldn't face any problems.?
but the process chain raises an Error message Variant doesnot contain a valid combination request/data target with this variant.
How shall I handle this issue?
Please carify me the issues as soon as possible.

Hello,
In the Variant Read PSA and Update Data Target I have to select the PSA Tabelle Name from the preselection list in the System it shows me all the four PSA Tables that I mentioned.
I can select any one of them. So I trieed with all the four PSA Tables in the list but I can selct only the XXXX......BA1 table then only I can save and include it in the PC. If I select the remaining tables BA2, BA3, BA4.........while I try to save the Variant it raises short dump.
I checked the PSA using the Transaction RSA1OLD under PSA...... I find 4 PSA Tables( I don't know whether they are PSA Tables or not but in the Variant it states that they are PSA Tables) in which all the requests are attached to BA4. only.
I observed that ony for Hierarchies I find four PSA tables for remaining one only one PSA table was available.
I totally confused how to handle this situation. any suggestions......... please help me to resolve this problem.

BW 3.5 - Update to PSA only / Read PSA and Update Data Target

Hi Folks,
I am planning to use on a BW 3.5 data source and infopackage that loads to PSA only (as the source system job runs quite long and we would run other prepration loads in parallel before pushed to final cube). And then later in the process chain the process Read PSA and Update Data Target to load the data to final cube.
As we plan to run the process chain 3 times a day I was wondering if the Read PSA and Update Data Target always takes only the latest request loaded to the PSA (as it is always the same infopackage) or do we have to delete the PSA request at the end of each process chain run so that not the next run will load the PSA request again as it is still in the PSA?

You are loading the Delta till the PSA, multiple times a day, and after each update to the PSA you will send the data to the Cube.
Once its there in the PSA, you are performing further tasks & then updating the cube multiple times (once after each delta)
Well, the 1st load to the cube should be OK.
But, from the next load onwards, it would pick up all the requests from the PSA & you will have wrong values in the Cube.
Because, i think, while using 'Read PSA & Update the Target', you can't set it for a FULL or a DELTA load.
It will bring in everything that exists in the PSA.
I would advice you to clean the PSA before the starting next Delta.
But, there is a counter argument.
If the data mart sign is reflected in the PSA for the request that has been loaded into the cube, then the next time the system will pick up the request which does not have a data mart symbol.
You can always give this a try in your Dev system.

Create the transformation for each target and connect through DTP if you are in BI 7.0
If it is BW 3.5 create transfer rules and load it Info source and then different update rules for different targets then load it using IP.
If you are speaking about loading data from R3 data source to multiple data sources in BI
Then follow the below step.
1)create init IP's and run the IP's with different selection to different DSO(With same selection it is not possible).
2)Then you will have different delta queues for the same data source in RSA7
3)Your delta loads will run fine to different data sources from same DS in R3.

Summing up key figure in Cube - data load from ODS

Hello Gurus,
I am doing a data load from ODS to cube.
The records in ODS are at line-item level, and all needs to be summed up at header level. There is only one key-figure. ODS has header and line-item fields.
I am loading only header field data ( and not the item-field data) from ODS to Cube.
I am expecting only-one record in cube ( for all the item-level records) with all the key-figures summed up. But couldn't see that.
Can anyone please explain how to achieve it.
I promise to reward points.

There are other dimensions in the cube - which corresponds to the field(s) in ODS.
But, I just mentioned these two (i.e. header and item-level) for simplicity.

InfoPackage don't update Data Target

I Have a general problem that InfoPacjage didn't update any data target especially InfoCube
I am using the Data Flow 3X
When I am using DTP instead I succesfuly update data target
I need to know why InfoPackage didn't update data target?

hi Mohamed,
Make sure your infopackage data target is not PSA only, there are multiple selection like PSA, Direct to Data Target.. sequencially and paralller. If that is not the issue, is your datasource emmulated DS? or it is 3.X? make sure you use the correct datasource type.. you can change that in rsds tc. Still that is not the issue, then tell us if you are getting any error? is it specific to one datasource or to others as well? try to do it in background instead of dialog. Hope that helps.

- First check the Error Messages from the context menu of the activation step. Also check ST22 & SM21. This will tell you where the error is. Sometimes you might get duplicate records.
- Next use the "Manage" context menu for the ODS in RSA1. Check if any of the previous records are red. If its red, it would mean that either load/activation has failed for previous request which needs to be corrected first b4 you correct the current one.
- If al the above are OK, simply repeat the Activation step.

While activating ODS request I am getting following error
"Activation of data records from ODS object KFI02O50 terminated ".
data load is suceesful for ODS but during activation of the request it is giving error.
I tried to change the status to green manually & then activated the request but still same problem.
Also I tried to delete request & loaded again from PSA & then activated the request but still same problem
If anybody has some solution please let me know.

Hi Sonal,
Sometimes when there is erroeneous records that time while activating the Request request get fails.To check this go to manage tab of the ODS there under log u can see the log icon click on that and check y activation got failed..

Data is not updating in data target from PSA

i have loaded data from flat file to an Info Object(with direct update)....the data is loaded correctly into PSA...when i manually read data from PSA to data target its not updting in data target.......can anyone help with this....thanks in advance..

direct update, so it's master data,
is it attribute or text ? perhaps there's invalid character or lower case,
check in monitor tab detail.
and when you said not updated to data target,
you check by right click 'maintain master data' ?
or you mean it's not updated to reporting ?
execute change run ? rsa1->tools->apply attribute/hierarchy change.

Problem to update two different data targets from same DSO using DTP

Hi All,
I am trying to upload data from standard DSO 0FIA_DS11 to DSOs 0FIA_DS12 and 0FIA_DS13 using DTP.
I run DTP 0FIA_DS11 -> 0FIA_DS12 and all data is updated on target, but when I run DTP 0FIA_DS11 -> 0FIA_DS13 job stops at data source extraction, endless.
Is there something I missing with new 7.0 approach?
Could someone help me with this problem?!

I'm loading cumulative/planned transactions from 0FI_AA_11 to 0FIA_DS11 just filtering by depreciation area on data package. Data is being successfully load and activated into this data provider.
From 0FIA_DS11 to 0FIA_DS12 I am loading data without filtering and load is finishing successfully.
From 0FIA_DS11 to 0FIA_DS13 I am not using any filter on DTP. I'm removing data with transaction type 'PLN' into start routine, but load is not even achieving this point. It stops during data source extraction.
Any more ideas?

Updating the last date request from ODS to CUBE

Dear Friends,
Please can someone explain me.
i allways update request from ods to cube, sometime there will be 3 to 4 request in the ods which wont have the Data mart (Tick) and when i update it to the cube. i can only see 1 request which is current date request. i dont know whether the previous days request has been updated to the cube.???
but i see in the ODS that all the data mart (tick) is available for all the request.
And please can someone explain me, if i have many request in the ods, current date previous day and so on.
Is there any way to update in such a way, where i can see all the dates in the Cube instead of only 1 request with current date in the cube.
when i delete the request from the cube and remove the tick from the ods, and refresh, then suddenly the current request and all the previous request TICK will be gone...

if you know everday how many request are getting updated in infocube as one request the you can check the added records in infocube .. it should be equal to the sum of all those request ..
but transferred can be more or equal .. also its depends on the
update rules ..designing ..

VLD-2769 when trying an update in STG from ODS

LS,
I would like to update a table in STG after processing in ODS. Unfortunately, this results in VLD-2769, saying that a database link is not allowed for the chosen data target (table on which the update needs to be performed).
I know that all DML can be issued over a database link, so why this error?
Are there certain properties that need to be set/altered, connectors to be specifically defined (in the dev-environment, STG and ODS are in the same schema on the same DB, but in prod-env this might be separated).

Hi everyone
If you are using 9.2 there is a solution that avoids a database link. However, this solution ONLY works if the schema to which you are trying to write is in the same database as the schema which owns the map.
What you do is this:
1. Right click on the map that has the issue
2. From the popup menu select Configure
3. Expand the sub menu called Sources and Targets
4. Find the table that you are trying to update via the database link
5. You will see that in the column called Bound Name is the name of the table, but look at the column called Schema - it will be blank
6. In the column called Schema type in the name of the schema which really owns the table
7. Save the definition and commit the changes
8. Go to SQL Plus or OEM and log in as a system DBA or owner of the table which needs updating, and grant the permissions on that table to the user who owns the map:
GRANT INSERT ON table_name TO map_user
GRANT UPDATE ON table_name TO map_user
and so on.
9. Commit the database changes
10. Try deploying your map - you will no longer get an error but you will get a warning that the database link is no longer being used - ignore the warning and the map will deploy and be able to execute ok
