Update to iOS 4 states "You have the latest version of iTunes"
When syncing my iTouch 2nd Gen 16GB via iTunes, the Summary page tells me to click Update to instal iOS 4, but when clicking on Update I only get a message telling me that I have the latest version of iTunes... which I know already!
However, having scanned the discussions on iSO 4, I get the impression that it is causing more problems than benefits, so it may be better to wait until the kinks are sorted, especially for the more mature status of the venerable 2nd Gen???
If not, how do I get Update to actually update to iOS 4, please?

Okay, so on your summary page, there is a button "Check for Update". If it is not visible, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes i.e *iTunes 9.2.1.5*

Yes, there are some problems with iOS4 and 2nd Gen iPod Touch, as the processor is not fully compatible with the software and operation becomes a little slower and often, customers and owners of 2nd Gen complain that their device CAN handle the features that iOS4 offers the newer generation of iPod, but are not able to, hence why they turn to jailbreaking to enable such features.

How to check if you have the latest version of iTunes

however, it says to click "help" on iTunes.
I suppose it would assist me if there was actually a HELP button to click!
Most of the articles on the support centre are out dated. This is the second issue with iTunes that i've had to resolve tonight, where the article has told me to click a button that doesn't exist!

I have an iPhone 4 that I just updated today to ios 6, now when I go to back up the phone to my PC, it says it can't because I don't have the latest version of iTunes. But i have iTunes 10. Please advise.
There is an updated version number 10.7.0.21 that is available if you go to the iTunes link here on Apple.com. It won't show up under Apple Software Update and if you check for updates via iTunes it likely won't show either.

I get this error message: Something is preventing Firefox from updating securely. Please make sure that you have the latest version of Firefox. I have uninstalled and re-installed. It did not work. Support tells me to click on Firefox at the top. I have no word at the top which says Firefox. I have the Firefox icon.
This issue can be caused by the presence of leftover files in the Firefox program folder (defaults\pref) like a file firefox.js that overrides the update URL with a wrong link.
Do a clean reinstall and be sure to remove the Firefox program folder.

* Uninstall your current Firefox version.
* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

I can not sync my IPhone to My Imac. I have the latest version of ITunes on my Imac. I have tried reseting my phone (3), changing ports. Nothing works. I was thinking maybe my phone has the earlier version of ITunes but I can't update it.

I have the iphone 4s. Ive tried to update my phone & its stuck on the connect to itunes screen. Ive tried to even restore my phone then update & i still have a error for both of them. Try holding down CTRL as you launch iTunes to see if it will repair the drivers.

I have the latest version of Itunes but it freezes my whole computer when it starts up. I have installed/reintalled Itunes but it still stops my whole computer when I start Itunes.
OK, so we rule out LSP then,
Try following steps one at a time and test your itunes:
1. Restart computer, right mouse click iTunes icon and select "Run As Administrator", now try your itunes.
2. If that does not work, check to see if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
MSCONFIG
Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
Restart Windows.
3. If that fails or you don't see ApsDaemon.exe in the Processes, refer to following article to remove SC files:

4. If that fails, repair or reinstall your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR. -
