Updater problem. AGAIN!

Hi, I am officially annoyed and angry at the iPod Updater 2006-01-10! For the 7th time, my iPod won't update. This is what I have done.
I installed the latest version of iTunes and connected my ipod. Then a notice came up saying that the software used for communicating with the iPod isn't correct. Please reinstall iTunes. I have done this over and over again and still I get the message! I need help!
PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME! NO ONE HAS EVER SOLVED THIS PROBLEM FOR ME!

Just a question but : do you really need to update your iPod ? Did it run very well with the previous version ? I don't really understand why you have your update problem due to the fact that I'm not a PC user… I hope a PC user will help you, but, many of iPod users don't update because they don't need to… They said that theirs run well with old versions, and the iPod ain't broken… I have a 1.3 version (after updating to the 1.4, then 1.4.1 and having a iPod problem… But now it solved)… and I am quite happy with…

  • Why am I having update problems again?

When I started Muse today I received a message that there was a new update and did I want to install. I said yes and it proceeded, when complete I received this pop up message:
Title,  Adobe AIR -  "Intial content could not be loaded for this application. Try re-installing or contacting the publisher for assistance".
But you can't re-install because it shows it's already installed. This happen to me a month ago and I had to un-install Muse & reboot before I could re-install.
Why is this happening? Is there a way I could open up Muse without going through a un-install again. This only happens with Muse updates which occur when starting Muse, other Adobe updates that take place through the Creative Cloud control panel are fine.
I just tried again, same problem

    Help Again.
My computer just doesn't like Muse & apparently CC programs. After all this time when starting Muse I have been ignoring the message to update because I'm afraid if I say yes I will have the above problem again. Today I got brave and said yes and Muse would not open again!
So I returned to this site and used the link you gave me before to reinstall Muse, when it finished it told me that there was a newer version 7.4 available and would I like to install it and I said yes, and it seemed to work and opens fine.
I also had a request to install the latest update of Creative Cloud so I said yes. Everything went fine. I got really brave and I noticed that there was a newer version of Muse CC 2014 and I installed it but now that CC and other CC programs tell me I need a sign in with my adobe ID to try a 30 trial, if I press the License This Software button it asks me for a Serial Number. Why can't I open CC programs without a serial number, I am a Creative Cloud member? I have 2 Icons on my desktop, Adobe Muse.exe which works and Adobe Muse CC that tells me I need a serial number.

No; but then, I've not had occasion to use TDM. I've been using firerwire drives for over 10 years, both FW400 and FW800, with no issues except a bit of instability using a B&W G3 machine.
TDM should be safe. Using cautious, manual copying of files from the Target machine to the Host machine should not result in unexpected loss of files or damage to the Target drive's directories. It should behave exactly the same as if it were an external (to the Host) firewire drive.
    •  I don't suppose there is anything I can do to 'put back' lost items from a separate Time Machine drive which has an up to date backup on it.
There is probably a way to do that - seems to me that's one of the reasons for a Time Machine volume.
On the other hand, if the Time Machine volume is rigidly linked to the now-absent OS on the original drive, there may be no way to effectively access the files in the TM archive.
I know that using a cloned drive would work well in this instance.
I have no experience with Time Machine, so perhaps someone who has will chime in with suggestions.
With the machine in TDM with the other machine, have you tried running Disk Utility to see if you can effect repairs to the drive?

  • Bios Update Problem P35 Neo2 - MS 7345 V 1.1

    Hello
I've update my board bios because a "hard disk not present" problem and since it I was having several problems:
I'm running Windows XP SP2 and it takes a very long time to start (in bar and loading windows screen).
The major problem I have is when power on the computer it is alwayls showing the red font message that says it was a problem overclocking, so everytime I need to go into setup and to save changes whitout changing anything.
I suspect the bios I've installed is not the right one since the start screen says "MSI Neo Patinum" instead Neo2, but I've used Live Update ... so it should be the rigth one.
Can anybody help me please with this?

    Three important questions:
    1. Which BIOS Version were you using before the update.
    2. Which Version did you update to?
    3. Did you clear CMOS with main A/C power cable removed from PSU after the Update?
    1. I'm not sure what bios version come with the board (my misstake) but it was older than I've now.
    2. I'm actually using AMI 1.10 Build Date: 11/10/2008
    3. Yes I did

I've checked hard disk SMART and health and it is ok

    - If you have an IDE/PATA Hard Drive:
.....What kind of cable are you using? (40 or 80 wire)
.....Is there any other drive connected to the IDE cable (how are the jumper settings for each drive (MASTER/SLAVE/CABLE Select)?
    I Haven't IDE/PATA Hard Drive
I will tell you the story:
I bought the computer and I was using the Blue (Marvel) sata port for the hard disk.
Then a normal day I began to have a very low Windows start so I changed the sata plug to a purple one and the problem disappeared.
Then I began to have the same problem again so I changed the plug again but problem was there anyway so decide to update bios to 1.8 version.
The problem come back randomly and sometimes it disappeared just changing the sata port to wich the plug is connected to.
After that I began to have the "No hard disk present" error and I cleared the CMOS and tried several things until it come to work again.
Few time ago I noticed that was a newer bios version, so then I used Live Update to update bios and drivers again.
Now I'm having the "slow" problem again. I'have been trying several configurations and testing programs but I just didn't find anything wrong.
    Edit:
I'm having the first post problem (overcloking message after power on)
I also had a very rare issue few time ago when shutdown the pc: few minutes later it power on by It self !! until I have disabled every wake up event from setup.
I hope you can understand, and thanks again for your help.

  • 10.5.1 update problem

    Hi,
Hoping someone can help me. New to Macs- loving it so far, but am having one problem.
Just updated the software the other day from 10.5 to 10.5.1. I used the software update button to do this. I am on a dial up connection (live too far out in the hills to get broadband) and this update took over 10 hours to download - a pure nightmare. Once finished, I had to restart the computer. On doing this, I got a blue screen with a bar which didn't move at all and a message saying that it was configuring the software update. Nothing happened at all. I eventually switched the computer off at the main switch at the back of the screen and restarted. My OS was still showing as 10.5, so I hit the update button again. It showed again that I was needing to update, but showed that the update was already downloaded and I had to restart the computer. I tried this again, but same thing happened.
    Any suggestions?
I read on another post about the same problem, and someone suggested downloading the update direct from the apple site. But does this mean me having to download the whole thing again? As you can all imagine, a dial-up connection is not the ideal for big updates like this. Is there another way around this?
Thanks for any help you can offer,
    Liz

Thought I would give an update of this problem just in case it may help someone else in future.
Smokerz very kindly offered to send a disc with the updates to me, since I have to use a dial up connection. I was very grateful for this offer - however I'm in Scotland, he's in the States, so thought I'd be quicker visiting a friend who has broadband and downloading the updates onto a disc myself. I did that, and Bingo! the 10.5.1 update works.
I guess, probably due to my bad dial-up connection, I had originally downloaded a bad copy of the update. So in the end, it was a simple solution.

Sorry, but Apple does not provide a downgrade path for iOS.
Because downgrading is unsupported by Apple we cannot discuss it on these forums, but you can use Google to find information on how to install an older version of iOS on any device.
Note that you will void the warranty and loose official support by Apple.
Feel free to let Apple know at http://www.apple.com/feedback
Anyway, give a try resetting all your settings:

  • 10.5.7 update problems

After installing the 10.5.7 update, Mail, iTunes and iPhoto will not run anymore. Anyone else having this problem?

    jjtopspin wrote:
Before I came to these apple discussions re: update problems with 10.5.7, I tried to update this version yesterday and at the end of the download this message came up, the update "Mac OS X update" can't be saved. The digital signature for this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed to Apple.
I got the same message. The downloaded file that generated the message was only about 560 KB, indicating it was an incomplete download. I moved it to the trash & tried again. The second download attempt succeeded. I had a minor if nerve-wracking issue with the update (the blue looping screen reported in another topic in this forum) but after a forced shutdown & restart the update was completed successfully.
I have since updated my two other Macs so all those listed in my profile are now running 10.5.7. All do so without any problems & in fact work better & more stably than ever before.
I doubt that I'm unusual in this respect. Some users will have problems but I believe most won't, & for those that do most problems will turn out to be caused by something other than the update itself. So it has been for every previous Leopard update; I see no reason to think this one will be any different.

  • Twitter Update Problem

Seems I have a Twitter Update problem. 1. I have no pirated software on my computer either from the App Store or anywhere else. 2. I did buy a set off templates for iWork through the App Store with my Bosses Apple ID (it's for work). Is that really the problem. That's ridiculous.  The apple ID is mine, as is much of the software, but it's a computer use for work. If this is true it makes the App Store a lot less useful.

my apologies I was so annoyed. I didn't bother to state my issue. The issue is: Twitter is constantly asking to be updated. Even after it's updated. Even if it's deleted. I looked at the forums for a solution and found that people were having this problem who installed pirated app store apps.
I am logged into the app store on my account. All but one of the apps on my machine that come from the app store are on my account. However there is one piece of software on my account that I purchased, by logging out and logging in with her ID, purchasing it, installing and logging out, and again logging in as myself. I don't have an issue with that app. However Twitter, which was installed under my username, constantly says it needs to be updated. Hope that makes it clearer.

  • Strange JTable update problems

I am having some strange issues with a JTable.
I have a custom AbstractTableModel that displays various properties of a list of Objects. I am using a java.util.Vector to store this list.
The user is given several JComboBox objects which contain filters for my table, when any of these filters are changed, a class that manages my Database is asked to return a Vector full of objects that match these filters.
I then set my table data Vector equal to this returned list and invoke fireTableStructureChanged() from my table model. This part works fine, the strange thing is, if the user has a table element selected and then they change the filters, the table will not update, it actually goes blank, but oddly enough the scroll bar on the scroll pane stays the same length as the old table.
When I invoke the exact same update method again (which just sets the Vector containing my data to a new value, and fires the event) the table will update this time.
I have tried calling MyJTable.getSelectionModel().clearSelection() in the hope that it will fix my problem, but it does not seem to do anything.
So is my problem some strange event or threading glitch, or an issue with JScrollPane mabye?
Thanks in advance for any help

Try using the DefaultTableModel to see if you have the same problem. If not then you know the problem is with your custom TableModel.
If you need further help then you need to create a "Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE)",
    see http://homepage1.nifty.com/algafield/sscce.html,
that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour, because I can't guess exactly what you are doing based on the information provided.
Don't forget to use the "Code Formatting Tags",
    see http://forum.java.sun.com/help.jspa?sec=formatting,

  • Update Problem - Mysterious Locked File

My iPod photo won't update my pictures. When I click on update, this message will come up "The iPod "IPOD" cannot be updated. The required file is locked." Does anyone know what this "locked file" is?? Or does anyone know how to fix this?
    I desperately need help.

If the file appears in HD/Library/Updates, then delete it and try updating again.
Recently, I installed third party software that trashed OS X 10.5.5 and I was forced to re-install the original OS X 10.5.2 (CD) as a fresh new install.
After the install, the software update OS X 10.5.5 Combo would not Validate. The download version in dmg format also failed verification.
I re-installed 10.5.2 again and ran into the exact same problems.
For the third time, I again installed the original 10.5.2, this time I used Disc Utility to check the drive, this found problems with permissions in this new fresh install and was duly repaired.
TechTool Deluxe (AppleCare Protection Plan) was then used to check that everything was indeed OK.
Screensaver was then turned off along with Energy Saver prior to the Software Update and a successful validated update to 10.5.5 resulted.
When updating the rest of the software everything updated properly except for the Java Update which would not validate.
I set Software Update to ignore the Java Update and again, used Disc Utility which again found permission problems that had to be repaired.
I then downloaded the dmg version of Java Update which installed without a hitch.
Software Updates appear to be Apple's achilles heel, but no worse than any other OS.
Unfortunately, the slightest glitch will compromise a software download or it's installation from any source, one has absolutely no control of this process except for pushing buttons.
The best download software I have used is Star Downloader, for Windows, this downloads from a number of servers simultaneously then re-assembles the separate downloads as one file. I have never had it fail.
I no longer use any of Microsoft's hardware or software, I am so happy with my iMac and Apple's efforts.
I will follow your post with interest.
    Best Regards,

  • Apps updating problem

Am having a big problem with my apple ID, for some reason my old one that I used to buy all my current apps is deleted, I made a new apple ID using the same email.
Now that's my main concern, but why can't I update the existing apps with the new apple ID ?
It goes like the following I launch the app store and go to updates I select an app to update or select update all, then it asks me for my new apple ID password, which I enter it then I press ok, and after that it does nothing basicly, it does not say wrong password or anything, it just spins for a while then gives me the update word again.
And I removed my apps and reinstalled them but no use.

Apps are tied to the Apple ID under which they were purchased, so you need to use that old Apple ID; the new one will not work. If you can't recover that old Apple ID via this web page:
    http://iforgot.apple.com
    then go here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store and request help.

  • Installation Problems, Permissions Problems, SW Update Problems, Solved

I'm posting here to relate some problems I've had and how I ultimately solved them, in the hope that it might help somebody.
The following relates to OS 10.5.4 on an imac PPC 1.8.
It started (at least the first symptom I noticed was) with Super Duper not working to auto-clone my drive, because the first thing SD does before running a clone job is to repair permissions on the subject drive. The repair permissions task failed with "the underlying task failed" error.
So I tried the manually repair permissions from Disk Utility and got the same "the underlying task failed" error. It's a bit alarming not to be able to repair permissions. I tried a reboot, no change. This persisted for at least a week as I didn't have time to aggressively go after it.
Then I purchased DiskWarrior (again - owned it years ago in Sys 9 days), as in my experience that was the "if all else fails" fix for everything directory-related. I booted from another blessed drive (do people still say that anymore? lol, showing my age) and ran DW on the drive in question. Sure enough DW found and fixed about 150 problems. Great I think, reboot from the original drive, run Disk Utility, repair permissions...nope! Same error. What now? I checked the console installer log for more and all the errors looked like "failure to write" permission type errors. Grr.
Verify Disk ran OK. I checked the SMART status and it was OK, as I was by now worrying about the physical drive.
Then along comes the 10.5.5 incremental update in Software Update and I get the following error: "The Installer could not install some files in "/" check permissions". Doh! Same thing with the Java update. Since I can't repair permissions I'm stuck.
So now I have only one course of action (well maybe there were others, but this is what I did) which was to do an Archive and Install. My OS X DVD is 10.5.0 so that is what I got of course when I reinstalled.
Running Disk Utility after the A&I allowed me to repair permissions successfully. Some progress. But now I had a slew of updates to get back to the present version of everything. Most installed successfully, except the 10.5.5 combo update. For that I got "package contents could not be validated". Rats.
So I decided (after reading here about SW update problems especially with combos) to manually download the 10.5.5 combo. For some reason running SW Update under 10.5.0 gave me download rates of 32kb/s, where I am used to 1.1MB/s. Projected download time 3 hrs....no way! So I booted back to my 10.5.4 clone and downloaded the 612MB at normal speed there. I downloaded the 10.5.1 incremental as well just in case.
Finally I was able to run the 10.5.5 combo (manually downloaded) successfully. Check Disk Utility and repair permissions...all good. Run SW Update and get the Java update, all good.
    Deep breath. Phew.
So there you have it. I was able to fix it all. I probably didn't need to buy DW (but it's so great I'm ok with that) as I conclude now that the A&I ultimately was the real fix. It was a very frustrating experience though, especially with SW update giving me a bad download.
I'm hoping that this post might now show up in searches and help somebody out there.
    Cheers
    G

I don't think you have either of those kernels... as they don't exist.  I assume you meant that you are using 3.10.5 and supposedly have 3.10.6 installed.  You issue is a bit of a catch 22, as you are unable to mount the ESP (no vfat module matching your running kernel), yet mounting the ESP would be required in order to properly udpate.  I imagine that you actually have the correct kernel as /boot/vmlinuz-linux.  But whatever mechanism you use to copy it from that location to the ESP didn't work.
You are going to have to boot from live media, and fix this from a chroot.  Please search around for how to do this, as this information is all over the place.
Looks like I'm in for a treat. I chroot-ed, did a full upgrade in case there was an even newer kernel (and there was, 3.10.7). After the upgrade I copied /boot/vmlinuz-linux, /boot/initramfs-linux.img and /boot/initramfs-linux-fallback.img to /boot/efi/EFI/arch/ renaming the files vmlinuz-arch.efi, initramfs-arch.img, initramfs-arch-fallback.img respectively. I unmounted everything and rebooted. Now reFINd freezes as soon as it tries to boot Arch.
