I am seriously bored of this bug! Why oh why can someone not send out a 'bug fix' to correct this constant error. Every single time I try to update Office Microsoft Database Daemon and Syncservices block the update!

Try to install Microsoft for Mac 2011 14.4.5 update on macbook air (mid 2013 unit). Says must shout down Microsoft Database Daemon and SynchServices Agent. there seems to be no way to do that. Please advise how to shut down so install can commence.
Hi,
Please take a look at this KB article, it talks about the exact issue. Try the solution there and see if it helps:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2482074/en-us
Also, you can start your Mac in safe model, this will stop those programs from loading. Then try auto-update in safe mode:

This is the forum to discuss questions and feedback for Microsoft Office on Windows system, better to post your question to the forum for Office for Mac:

How do i close microsoft database daemon and syncservicesagent to install office 2011
I am trying to install update 14.3.2 for Office 2011, but keep getting notice to close MSFT database daemon and syncservicesagent. Can't figure out how to do this.
The easiest way is to do it using Activity Monitor, an app that it's stored on /Applications/Utilities. Just open it, search the processes that belong to "Microsoft Database Daemon" and "syncservicesagent", and kill them.
If you don't want to use Activity Monitor or you don't want headaches, another possibility is to install this Office update in safe mode, to make sure that no Office for Mac processes are opened. To start in safe mode, hold the Shift key while your computer is starting until you see the Apple logo. Then, log in your admin user, install the Office for Mac update and restart as usual -
Trying to install MS Office 2011 for Mac SP 2 (14.2.0) on my Macbook Air (Lion 10.7.3). I have to close Microsoft Database Daemon and SyncServicesAgent but can not see how to do so. I have closed all applications. Can anyone help? Many thanks
Thanks Kurt! I had tried all that and had tried closing both programmes from the application monitor, but SyncServices Agent refused to close. I tried closing Launchd which is their mother application, but that just caused the screen go go blank. In the end the two programmes let themselves be closed next time I tried the installation process so all was well. Thanks for your help!

when downloading microsoft office update get message to close microsoft database daemon and sync services agent. Shouldn't these be closed automatically? I try to close them, but the message still says they need to be closed. Help!
Are you using Outlook 2011 or Outlook 2015? I don't seem to have any relevant sync settings under Preferences -> Other in Outlook 2015.

This is completely irritating. To find answers, I have read previous posts about quitting Microsoft database daemon and Sync services agent to no avail. Anyone have an answer to quitting both applications? I am trying to update Microsoft Office.
Thanks a bunch.Hello
This forum is for troubleshooting Apple Software Update for Windows, a software package for Windows designed to update Apple products that run on Windows, and not related to Microsoft Office or your question in any way. If you have issues or questions about Office, it's probably best you post Office related questions on Microsoft's own forums for their Mac products.

How do I close Microsoft Database Daemon and SyncServicesAgent
I cannot update my Microsoft software on my iMac as it keeps asking me to close Microsoft Database Daemon and SyncServicesAgent. I cannot find out how to do this... hence I have not updated Microsoft on my iMac since I have had it. What are they for anyway? Any help would be great - thank you.
Found an answer. Go to your Outlook, select Tools, SyncServices, untick all the boxes. Close Outloook, go to Activity Monitor and quit Microsoft Database Daemon and SyncServicesAgent. This time they'll stay closed.
Once your software update has finished go back to Outlook syncservices and retick the boxes.
Painful example of Apple and Microsoft software not talking to each other very well. -

I am trying to install an update of Microsoft office and I get a message that says. This application must be closed ETC..... I am running Parralell and I think it is there. The two programs are "Microsoft Database Daemon" "SyncServicesAgent". How do I close these programs?
If the Office updates have to be run through Win in Parallels, there's not really a section here that covers that , because Neither Office or Parallels are Apple products. There is only a small chance that you'll find someone with BOTH your conditions who just happend to look into a forum on older iMacs.
Parallels has a forum here:
http://forum.parallels.com/forum.php
I think you'll get a faster response there. -
Microsoft Database Daemon and SyncServicesAgent won't close when trying to install software update. How do I do this?
A message to quit applications occurs in Office for Mac
If you see a message to "quit the following applications" while installing an update for Microsoft Office for Mac (See image) , click Continue, and then quit the applications listed in the message. To quit an application, click its name on the Apple menu bar, and then click Quit <application name> or press COMMAND Q. You can also quit an application if it has an icon in the Dock by pressing the CONTROL key, clicking the icon, and then clicking Quit.
You'll also have to turn off Sync Services in Outlook. To do this, start Outlook, click Outlook > Preferences, and then choose Sync Services under Other. Uncheck all boxes and then quit Outlook.
You should now be able to install the update for Office.
NOTE The message to quit applications may also appear if you're installing Microsoft Office for Mac. Follow the same steps to quit the applications before you install Office. -
I am not able to close Microsoft Database Daemon or SyncServicesAgent applications to install Office 2011 14.4.1 update. Could you assist me? Thanks in advance
The updater should close those processes for you - it didn't used to do so but should now.
If it won't quit the processes for you, open Activity Monitor (Applications>Library folder), search for the processes and quit them. You should be able to install the update now.
I just find it odd that the updater isn't quitting the processes on its own..
