Updates to the table from the database level.

Hi Dear All,
If we do some updates to the table at the Database Level, like i deleted some records from the table at the Oracle level. But I'm still able to see the same deleted records from the Data Dictionary(SE11) at the application level.
Can you pl explain the mechanism, that how it is possible and why.

transparent tables store data directly....if you delete some data from transparent tables, the same is reflected in the database (oracle) but the reverse is not true...if you modify the database table contents directly...the dictionary table remains intact...
transparent tables have a one-to-one relationship with the database tables....
hope that clarifies a bit....
(somebody correct me if i am horribly wrong)

Update a Temp table from the values of another table (Best Approach)

Can anyone help me out to find a solution for the requirement mentioned below.
I have a temp table like I have mentioned below. Column Period Name will have values like "Current Year", Two Years Before", Three Years Before" , YTD etc.

ie: Update the figures of the below table (TwoYearsBefore,Three YearsBefore ) and all with the matching interventionID from the first table.
Note: Field RowName is common in both the tables.

I mean i know the field with which i want to know the table. I tried but could find the structure only but how can i find the table.

Using DD03L (in SE16, SQVI) you can list the tables & structures which contain the desired field.
(If it's a very common field [e.g. MATNR] you'll get a huge amount of hits...you can also use 'F1' + 'Technical information' [in the transacton you are] to get information on table & field as mentioned before)

Error in importing the tables from database

HI ,
while importing the table from the metada by using OCI call 10g/11g i am getting the below exception:
*"Some objects are not imported because of invalid names : (DESCRIPTION =(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=localhost)(PORT=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME=orcl)))"*
i am getting this exception after selecting the objects which i want to import from the database.....it first imports the tables and the throws the above exception and then removies from the repository view.
How can i get this resolved???

How to view data in tables by selecting the synonym from the database objec

I could not figure out how to view data in tables by selecting the synonym from the database objects navigation tree. I had to first choose the synonym, view the details of the synonym to determine the table name, and then select the table from the database objects tree. Is this the only way available?

This functionality currently does not exist. I don't see it on the 1.1 statement of direction either, so perhaps someone from Oracle can give some insight as to when this could be expected.

5、Where the access crashed I used the ODBC trace to get the trace log of the ODBC API.
The ODBC API called by Access before it crashed are the follows.

6、I also did the test with the Access 2010,and with the Sql Srever/Oracle.
The results are the follows.
1) With the Access 2010(X86 or X64) and Access 2013 X86,it successes when I export the table to the DB Symfoware.But only with the Access 2013 X64,the Access crashed.
2)With the Access 2010(X86 or X64) and Access 2013(X86 or X64),using the Sql Srever/Oracle,it always successes .
According to all the descrived above, I wonder if it a bug of the Access2013 .

the latest patches of the Office 2013.But it doesn't work.It is down also too. And ODBC
drive of Database Symfoware is the newest driver of the Database Symfoware. Now I wonder that
if it si a bug of the ODBC
drive of Database Symfoware,I should fix the bug,but I have analysised the odbc trace log and I do not find any wrongs ,so I think maybe it is a bug of the Access .

what are the apps version local and remote database???
Snapshot too old errors occur because Oracle can 't reconstruct a consistent
image of a block for the purposes of a consistent read.
I feel at remote database, you are using UNDO, it will be rather easy to iincrease the undo retention time or increase the undo tablespace size.. if you are dealing with roll back segments, you may have rollback segments whose optimal values are too small...
increase roll back segments size and select again then

Updating a standard table from a custom tableq

How do I update all the records in a table from the contents of another table?

Ok some situation information, I have a pervasive database that runs our accounting software that I am pulling a product list from. I have that list stored in a table in SQL. From time to time we update the records in the pervasive database and
I want to be able to pull those changes into the SQL table. I don't want to drop the table and recreate it because if a product is no longer active in the pervasive database it will not be returned by the query (if I return all the products even the
inactive ones I will get thousands of records rather than just a few hundred) and I do not want to loose the products from the table that are now inactive.
So what I want to be able to do is pull the list from pervasive, compare it to the list that exists in SQL and update any changed records, add any new records, and leave any now missing records alone(missing from the pervasive list but present in the SQL
list). I have no trouble pulling the records from pervasive (now) but I am a little stumped on how to do the rest. I am not sure if this is a situation to use MERGE or not. I also do not really need this to be done on a regular basis as the
changes do not happen often enough for that, the ability to manually trigger it would be enough.
Any help would be appreciated.

lets say you want to go with the lookup transformation.
lets say u want to move the data from server A table A1 to Server B table B1
What you need to do is the following:
Cofigure the Lookup options as follows:
- In general -> Specify how to handle rows with no macthing entries -> "Redirect Rows to no Match Output"
- In Connection -> Set the ole db connection to the Server B and select the table B you want to lookup the values in your case the table where you want to input the changes
- In columns -> link the product column from table A to product column in table B. And do not select any rows to output.
- now your component is ready next you need to input. so when u connect your lookup to the destination component You will get an option to select which output you want to use - use "Lookup No Match Output".
this will actually just allow you to add only new items only to the table B.

How to delete/drop all the tables from SQL Server Database without using Enterprise Manager?

How to delete/drop all the tables from SQL Server Database without using Enterprise Manager?
I tried using DROP Tables, Truncate Database, Delete and many more but it is not working. I want to delete all tables using Query Analyzer, i.e. through SQL Query.
Please help me out in this concern.

OMBPLUS - How to import a table from the database

I have a table that is out of sync with its database definition. In OWB, I would go to the Tables section and select Import and re-import the file in. How do I script this in OMBPLUS.

If I do the OMBRETRIVE TABLE 'CUSTOMER' GET COLUMNS then all I get is a list of columns displayed in OMBPLUS. Doing a OMBCOMMIT does not modify the table in the OWB repository. It still does not have the new columns.
Also, when I import a table from the GUI, I UNCHECK the two advanced options of: 'Preserve repository added constraints' and 'Preserve repository added columns'. I also get to select from the GUI I get to choose how many levels of foreign key constraints to retreive. How do I specify these in the OMBPLUS script as well.

Update the z table from the header text of VF01 on save

Hi All,
I have a Z table 'ZEXIM_LICDETAILS'. Whenever a billing doc. of type 'ZEXP' is created with tcode VF01, the Z table fields should also be updated. I have learned that we cannot include tabs in Billing Doc, so the licence number is put in the header text of the VF01.
Is there any way that I can update my Z table from header text, when we save the VF01.

Manupulate the data from the database and update it back

hi. i was wondering if it is possible to manupulate the data that we get from the resuletSet and do some manupulation and and again update it back to the same row and column. i tried to do it but could not get it. eg. i want to increase the salary by 10% for all the employee in the salary table. i dont want to use the SQL statement. instead i want to use the java program to increase the salary by 10%.
what i did was, i selected all the records in the table in the resultset and then i stored the salary one by one through the loos using rs.next() and manupulated the salary by the formula
salary=salary + salary*10/100.
then i want to update all the employee with this new salary. i dont know whether it is possible or not.
i tried to have an UPDATE statement in the while loop with rs.next with the condition but the loop gets terminated once it tries to execute the UPDATE statment and doesnot give any result.
any help or suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Here's the general long hand way of doing it. You should also look into your JDBC driver and the use of updateable ResultSets for more effeciency.
