Updating flash content

Hi All,
I have a query that I need an answer to as soon as possible.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
A client of mine is currently in a legal battle with a
competitor over one of their products' package designs. They have
that product listed on their website and so asked my company to
urgently update the flash site (which we designed) and the .swf
containing the product packshot. We do this on a fairly regular
basis and it has never been a problem in the past but now we've
encountered a problem with some potentially hazardous consequences,
to my client anyway.
The update went normally and I could view the updated content
immediately however my client's lawyers and more to the point,
their competitors, are viewing the previous version of the site
containing the questionable content.
My suggestion was to clear all temporary internet files and
also to ensure that should the person/parties involved be using a
proxy server, to clear all archived versions of the website. I'm
all out of options from this point.
Any suggestions or comments about this? Why else would the
content not be updating on these user's systems?
You can check it out for yourself (to let me breathe a sigh
of relief anyway :P) at: www.nutrilida.com
Once in the site, you'll land on the products page. Have a
look at 'ViralGuard'. The latest content should include a blue band
at the bottom of the packaging.
Let me know what you see and thanking you in advance!

Thats a good idea...
but you will run into trouble when you have dozens of swf
files. In this case you would have to rename each filename and
rewrite all of the internal paths, each time you want to update
your content.

I've just googeld a bit and found this one:

maybe this is it, i will check this one out, too.

If you want to revert to an older Flash version then get the latest Flash 10.3 version that is still maintained with security updates

  • Flash content in local webpages is displayed in small size afther windows 7 update.

Since the latest update of Windows 7 / IE explorer 10 flash content in local webpages is displayed very small in internet explorer. To see the normal size I have to zoom in till 350 %. This occurs on two different laptops. Both have the most recent updates of flash player and Windows 7.
When viewed in Firefox the local content is displayed as ment.

Intel renamed the new drivers for your AF HDD. They are now Rapid Storage technology (RFT), not Matrix.
If I am correct (an I have been through the same problem) you should look for: STOR_ALL32_F6FLPY_9.6.0.1014_PV.ZIP or STOR_ALL64_F6FLPY_9.6.0.1014_PV.ZIP, depending on you using 32 or 64 bits, at the Intel site. Must keep in mind that the controllers are different in TP60 and TP61, but this driver will work with booth
    TP61 - ICH8M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller
    TP60 - ICH7M/MDH SATA AHCI Controller

  • Update to Flash Player 11 has caused our Flash content to crash the Flash Player plugin. Why?

I work for a health and safety training company and we've create a SCORM compliant course using Flash that has been imported into Absorb LMS (our own instance of it www.astutis-elearning.com).  There are nine modules in the course each developed using Flash Professional CS5.5.
These all worked fine using the Flash Player 10.3 plugin but since the Flash Player update to 11 our modules (not all Flash content) crash the plugin at certain places.  Some modules load fine and then crash later, some modules get through the preloader scene and then crash as soon as it gets to the main menu.  We've done some testing and don't know if it could be a Flash component that is causing the issue.  At any rate, they used to work with 10.3 and they don't work with 11.  We've tried on a number of machines and browsers.  Its the same on all of them.
I am prepared to provide a login for people willing to help to see what is causing the problem.
This is an important issue as we have people who are currently on the course that may not be able to complete the course if they upgrade their version of Flash to the latest version.  I hope I have provided enough information.  Let me know if you need any more.

    Paul and DevChaz,
Like you, I am a Flash Developer at a company that creates eLearning.  Therefore, I assume that the way that we use Flash is very similar.  I was quite excited as I read through this thread since I have been experiencing very similar browser crashes in my newer courses since FP11 came out.  Like you, we have recently upgraded to CS5.5.
All of my crashes are with AS2 courses.  I would be curious to know if yours are AS2 or AS3.
Anyway, I took my use case, saved the flas down to CS4 and recompiled all the swfs.  This did not fix the problem as it did for you (see DevChaz's earlier post in this thread dated Oct 12, 2011 4:46 PM).
I have my problem logged in the Adobe BugBase here:
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3018637
    fpMonster,
I have recently added my cs4 versus cs5.5 compiled use_case on bugbase.  I am hoping that you'll look at this use_case and compare it to PaulGray's use_case to see why my use_case does NOT work correctly when compiled in a lower version of the Flash IDE.  In addition, perhaps you could share notes regarding this issue with someone at BugBase.  Thanks in advance.

  • After updating Flash all content lags

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1
    Browser: Mozilla Firefox 13.0.1
    Flash ver: 11.3.300.262
Computer is a laptop and has 4 GB RAM and a 2.1 GHZ Pentium Dual-Core processor.
After the most recent Flash Player update, all Flash content I view with Mozilla Firefox lags massively and often crashes, especially web videos such as Youtube crash after less than a minute of playing. When playing web videos the lag seems to focus on the video feed and not as much the sound, as the sound often plays relatively normally while the video stands still or skips several seconds. The whole browser is also slowed down by the lag.
This problem only appeared after I installed version 11.3.300.262.

I'm not a techie, but that sounds like a problem I had with an earlier version of Flash Player, which I cured by disabling hardware acceleration in Flash Player.  To check this out,
    1)  call up a youtube video, and pause it.
    2) right click the video.  You should see a drop down menu.
    3) scroll down to "settings" and you should see a small box appear in the screen.  If there is a check next to "enable hardware acceleration," click on it to clear it.
    4) close out the small screen, exit Firefox, call it up again, and try viewing a video to see if it lags or crashes.
Along this line, the newer versions of Firefox also use hardware acceleration.  You can also try disabling that to see if it cures the problem.  Hardware Acceleration in Firefox was causing display problems with my brand new HP Omni 22-1125, in spite of the fact that it has an up to date Intel graphics driver, etc.  (When I'd right-click a menu, such as bookmarks, if the menu extended toward the bottom of the screen, overhanging the taskbar, it would leave an image on the taskbar when the drop-down menu was closed.  I'd have to click on the "show home page" button to clear it.)
    1) Click on the Tools menu.
    2) Click on Options
    3) Click on the Advanced tab.
    4) If "hardware acceleration" is checked, click on it to remove the check.
    5) Close out Firefox and restart it to test.

  • I'm on a school network where I'm incapable of update flash, how to I get Firefox to automatically play flash content without updating?

Flash player is automatically block on sites like Youtube, and I have to click to play videos. While working at school, this is profoundly irritating, and I have no permissions to update flash shockwave. How do I disable the "click to play" so that I can automatically listen to youtube playlists, etc.
Updating Flash is NOT an option.

I don't know if you can bypass that old version warning; there might be a way.
But I want to know why your Firefox is reporting itself as version 20. Is that also because you are not allowed to update Firefox either? Maybe you can pass along to your administration that Firefox 20 is not secure; Mozilla discloses [https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html security flaws] after each new release.

  • Problems with Firefox 13. Can't see online audio file player. Video only works on some sites. All works OK in I.E. Updated Flash. No Change

Problems began when Firefox 13 automatically updated. tried downloading latest version of Flash 11.2.202.235. No change.
Video works sometimes on YouTube, not at all on most other sites.
Audio player not working at all. Either not even visible or downloads to real player versus playing within application such as Amazon.
Tried enabling/disabling Add ons to find culprit. No luck.
Everything as it should be in Internet Explorer.
On my WordPress site has MP3 audio files, and uses a flashplayer to display and play music files. With flash player on, nothing displays at all, (bank space where audio player would normally be displayed)
If I disable shock wave flash, a text link is displayed that downloads the MP3 in a new window (quick player), Also video doesn't work on any website. If I disable Flash and quicktime, text link to audio file downloads to realplayer.

hello msandman, there have been quite a few issues with adobe's latest flash update - can you try if flash content is showing up correctly again, when you disable the real-player components like mentioned in the following article: [[Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox]]?
otherwise you could also try to remove flash 11.3 from the windows control panel/programs section & [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889580 downgrade to the 10.3 branch of the plugin], which is still receiving security updates.

  • Flash content distorts when scrolling and switching tabs.. since FF 13.0.1..

    Before describing the issue
Please note from the System Details pane to this post that I have the latest flash, etc.
And Windows updates, are up to date.
    ==================================================
Issue: Scrolling distorts flash player window (Youtube, hulu, etc.)
Since: FF 13.0.1 update in June. (I posted on the issue under "badly scrambled images".)
Problem is still there with FF 14.0.1
    This distortion happens:
    # even with just starting the browser (so no bloated cache)
    # even with just only one or two tabs open.
And since last week's update to FF 14.01, I have also detected:
Switching to the the tab with flash content will "imprint" the image from the my previous tab on to the flash player. I have to scroll or refresh to get the flash player to show its content.
FYI, none of these flash player problems occur with IE9.
The advise from a regular contributor was to turn off hardware acceleration, but these did not solve this issue.:(
Solutions suggesting disabling all the plugins etc. have not solved the problem either.
So if you can tell me some other way to solve this, I will appreciate it.
    Thanks.

Sorry, it took me a while to give feedback for the suggestions you have given here.
(Please refer to sidebar on the original post for system details.)
I have reset the profile and updated the Nvidia driver. The version of FF is 14.0.1. But it still scrambles the pictures.
On top of scrambling the flash content when scrolling, it has additional problems:
As you can see from the attached image, another tab's content is showing on the youtube flash player. This happens when I have paused the video even for a short time.
I have a suspicion that the combination of Flash and Firefox does some weird things to graphic processing and memory.
(I realize that IE implements Flash differently, but they seem to have this right.)
I might just have to say goodbye to Firefox for a while.
    Thanks.

  • Being prompted to update Flash, ignore?  v11.2.202.228 and v11.2.202.229 Google Chrome

Just prompted by Adobe that an upgrade to Adobe Flash Player is available – within the bullets say includes security enhancements.
Two weeks ago I was made aware that there were security vulnerabilities with Flash.  My laptop was infected (3/26).  One of the recommendations from my anti-virus software company was to keep all Adobe products updated, especially Flash.  Also, I was given the recommendation to consider choosing a less common browser than IE; he used Google Chrome which has its own security features.  I had used Chrome once before when it was beta but downloaded the new Chrome, set security settings and testing it out.  A few days later, someone I know also in the IS community said their company (a large international company) is uninstalling all Adobe products from all of their employee computers completely.
In reading the Developer Release Notes, this upgrade is for v11.2.202.228.
The Adobe Flash website section detects I have v11.2.202.229 installed.  The latest version listed underneath was .228.  I questioned how I could have a newer, higher number, version if .228 is the latest release? This was odd, needed an answer and to verify I was current.
In reading the Security Bulletin, it says… “These priority 2 updates address critical vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.63 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Solaris, and Adobe Flash Player 11.1.111.7 and earlier versions for Android 3.x and 2.x. These vulnerabilities could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system… … …Adobe recommends users of Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.63 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh and Linux update to Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.228 … … ...can install the update via the update mechanism within the product when prompted. Google Chrome will be updated automatically, so no user action is required. Google Chrome users can verify that they have updated to Google Chrome version 18.0.1025.151, which includes Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.229.”
This answered my question.  I am current…and then I found an Adobe forum thread asking if 11.2.202.229 files installed in the correct place.  I am deducing from the bulletin that the v.229 is designed with content or files specific for Google Chrome. And I am also deducing I was prompted that a new update is available because Flash Auto Update is looking for any version other than or is “not v.228” and not looking for “both v.228 AND v.229 files” on one’s computer? Concluding that I should ignore this prompt, check “do not remind me about this update” now and in the future if using Chrome [but I would still always need to verify Flash has been updated on my computer or verify I have the latest version of Google Chrome, before ignoring]? And if I do choose not to continue using Google Chrome (uninstall), I should then resume with manual updates.  Please provide feedback.
If true, my recommendation to Adobe would be to design the Flash Auto Update to search for *all* versions related to the latest release to avoid a false prompt from appearing and/or *also include within the text of the standard Auto-update prompt’s window the same verbiage as within the Security Bulletin (which is not normally read by users) regarding Google Chrome, directing that no user action is required. It may or may not be harmful for someone to proceed with installing v.228 when they already have v.229… meanting it may not delete or replace any important files specific to Google Chrome and protecting against security vulnerability as it might be that .229 may only have a few additional files. *Another recommendation would be that both the .228 and .229 v for Google Chrome be listed as the latest release on Adobe Flash website page and release content.  This may have been a timing issue.  Google/Adobe might want to re-consider the timing/order in which they deploy their versions or re-consider the auto-update feature within Google Chrome all in itself to avoid confusion, avoid the need to then verify it anyway afterwards (an added step in itself) and avoid Google Chrome users that are completely unaware of this and what action to take, from updating to a different incompatible version that could possibly conflict with the requirements of Google Chrome or its security.  However, everything would be resolved by the first recommendation.  I did wonder why I just got prompted today for a release on March 28th, but luckily it looks like I have the latest version.  And I did find it interesting how I noticed underneath the install for Adobe AIR that you may have to disable your anti-virus before installing.
I look forward to your feedback to my question confirming whether or not I should just to ignore this update.  In effort to prevent PCs from future attacks, I provided my feedback and recommendations.  Thank you.

Hi thanks, I have Vista 64 bit. Both of these directories or folders exist. Here are the files they contain.
    \System 32\:
    Flash64_11_1_102.ocx
    FlashUtil64_11_1_102_ActiveX.dll
    FlashUtil64_11_1_102_ActiveX (2/19/2012)…v11.1.102 so should I install.
    FlashInstall
    \SysWOW64\:
    Flash9f.ocx
    Flash11f.ocx
    FlashUtil9f (10/16/2008)
    FlashUtil11e_ActiveX (2/6/2012)
    FlashUtil11f_ActiveX (2/16/2012)
    FlashUtil11f_ActiveX.dll
    FlashInstall
    install
Chrome was installed after 3/26.  I am guessing these are for Active X for IE and they don’t look like the latest version. As I mentioned, when I checked with Adobe to see what version is running on my system it only displays the latest version for Google Chrome which is a current one.  So one (a user) wouldn’t know of the other versions that need to be updated.  You are correct that I thought there was only one version on my system.  Thanks for informing me, I didn’t even search or think of that.  If I forcefully download the update anyway, will it update both of these directories?
Also when you say, “Manually downloading or updating Flash Player from Adobe will not affect Chrome's installation of Flash Player.” I realize moving forward it wouldn’t affect future Chrome installs but did you also mean downloading .228 when I have .229 will not affect this currently the installed version?..…if built-in, does Google Chrome store any files on my system or is it completely built-in?

  • Update Flash Player Multiple iMac's

    Hello Everyone,
I work in an elementary school in ohio. I have been working with apple remote desktop trying to install adobe flash player in a lab we have.  We use a generic login in our lab and everywhere else so that the little kids do not have to remember a username and password. I am trying to avoid having to update 40 computers at once by hand. I went to the lab and downloaded the update for adobe flash, but before installing i right clicked and did a show package contents. I then went to the resources folder and then contents folder and found the .pkg file in there. I had read on other forums that installing this would suffice to installing the update.  I used apple remote desktop to install the pkg file and forced the computers to restart, after it came back up I logged in  as the generic login and low and behold it still wanted me to update flash player. If anyone has any good advice for my situation I would greatly appreciate it!!!

  • I have to reinstall/update Flash player everyday?

Hi I am a Mac user (MAC OSX 10.6.8) and I use safari as my main browser. (safari version 5.1.5)
The thing is when I try to watch youtube videos, at least once a day my video just turns black, or it says 'plug-in failure'.
I found that the solution for this is updating the flash player, but since this happens everyday I am updating flash everyday.
Everytime I update flash player, the videos work fine.
Last time I installed Flash player was yesterday, the latest version possible, and yet the problem occurred just now.
When I install flash player, I do not uninstall previous versions , simply because it worked fine with them.
Could that be the main problem?
I'm just getting really sick of updating this everyday, force quitting all my browsers and losing all the tabs I had opened.
    Please help?

You don't need to uninstall Flash Player before installing a new version. Because you install Flash Player everyday, it won't be an update. You are simply installing the version that's already present in your machine.
Could you please go to the following page and let us know the Flash Player version displayed there? https://help-internal.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player. html
Does this issue happen only with specific sites or with all the sites?
    Thanks,
    Suni

  • Windows 8 freezes while I try to watch online Flash content and running Audition CS6

I recently bought a online introduction course to Auditon CS6 on Vimeo.com
While I have a setup where I put the lecture on one screen and the program on the other I like to follow tutorials and learn how to use software.
However this proves to be impossible for me in Audition, because for some reason my computer gets completely unresponsive after a little while of watching the lectures with Audition running.
It never happens when Audition hasn't been launched, and I'm kind of suspecting a driver conflict, but I don't have a fancy audio card in my computer, (just built in Realtek,) and find it a bit
odd that it wouldn't be supported as it is some of the most common audio setups around. As far as I know the system runs stable with Audition running and no Flash content started as well.
This has happened for the last couple of months and I've updated Flash and drivers as they roll out. Audition CS6 is downloaded with the Creative Cloud application Manager.
Here is some general info on my computer:
OS: Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.
Motherboard: eVGA x58 Classified (Tried with stock BIOS and also updated to new BIOS)
    Audio Card: Realtek (on motherboard)
Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 Ti
The system storage device is a SSD (Firmware recently updated due to BSODs apearing, and seems to be resolved.)
I do believe that this might not be a Audition issue, but rather a issue with Flash. However Audition + Flash reproduces this problem faster than anything else I can remember this happening while
using other 3rd party software while playing Flash. (Not exactly the type of software.) I have a suspicion that it is something that occurs if Flash and other programs is paging/wiring/reading the SSD...
I can't remember this happening with Photoshop or other Adobe software, and so I'm also curious to how different Audition runs "under the hood" so to speak. What is it constantly checking
that could lead to a hardware conflict.

A month ago I uninstalled AVG Internet security from my computer making it a lot less potent to BSODs in general, (can't reacall having any.) So today I thought I'd try to learn some more Audition. I could Sit with it for a good while just playing around with recordings and settings and my system didn't react weirdly at all. So the next step was of course to try and load some of the Udemy lectures I had waiting.
As the video was buffering I turned away from the computer for a while, but when I came back it had completely froze up again... I don't think I've ever had a BSOD in this context either, instead of going into BSOD the computer just stops responding completely.
(I'm using the latest version of Flash, tried with both Firefox and Chrome.)
I'm thinking this is a very niche bug and I can't seem to se that it can be anything but a conflict with Flash. Weither it's a memory leek or what ever it is.
I can use Audition fine on my computer it seems, as long as I never start a browser in risk of loading a Flash application, (which would be fine if I was avid, but I need some lectures to get started.)
Nothing really seems to be overloaded (RAM/CPU) before the freeze ocurs either.
I  don't really know where or how to adress this to the Flash Player forum/community, (or if there is one.)
    Thanks.

  • Can No Longer View You Tube w/OS10.3.9 Nor Update Flash Player. Suggestions

I have a PowerBook G4, OS10.3.9 and primarily use Firefox as a browser. Yesterday when attempting to view a video on You Tube, the following message appeared: “Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.” When I clicked the Flash Player link, my browser was unable to access the Adobe download page (it continuously tried but never succeeded in “reading” the page). I typed in the URL for the download page with the same results. I then tried my Safari browser but it, too, was unable to read the download page. Finally I used Internet Explorer and was able to access the page but there was a notice from Adobe saying in essence they were discontinuing support of Flash Player 7 and recommending updating to the latest version (the heading on the page was “Flash Player 7 for Unsupported Operating Systems”). However, clicking the link provided only took me back to the same page with the same notice. Finally I was able to access an “Archived Flash Player” page where I downloaded various versions on Flash Player 7, 8, and 9, but in each instance I was taken to an Adobe page saying the download was successful and recommending I now update to the latest version. Clicking the link provided however resulted in being returned to the original “Flash Player 7 for Unsupported Operating Systems” page and I was still unable to view You Tube regardless of the browser employed. Is there now no way to view You Tube and use the latest version of Flash Player with an OS10.3.9? Can anyone offer suggestions as to how I might resolve this problem? Please accept my apologies if this issue has already been fully or partially addressed in a previous post. Thanks much.
    .

    Hi Dan,
Thanks for the useful info. Unfortunately, it did not solve my problem. After completing all 6 steps you outlined, I tried to view a video on You Tube and got the same "you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player" message and, once again, when I clicked the link both Firefox and Safari were unable to successfully access/read the Adobe download page (indeed, I cannot even access adobe.com with my Firefox and Safari browsers and had to use Internet Explorer to download the latest Flash Player and even then, I could not do it from the regular download button but had to go to the "Archived Flash Player" page on the tech support site). There were several folders in the "Flash Player 9 Debug Archive" zip file I downloaded (9r115, 9r15, 9r16, 9r28, 9r45, 9r47, 9r48) and within each of the folders several different installers (while I downloaded and installed "flashplayer9r115macdebug.dmg" there was also a "flashplayer9r115ub_macdebug.dmg" installer in the same folder and, of course, a great many other installers in the various other aforementioned folders). BTW, I originally downloaded the "Flash Player 9 Archive" zip file on the Archived Flash Player page but when attempting to install the 9r115 version from this file, the downloading sequence would not fully complete and stalled at the 3 items remaining stage, so I downloaded the aforementioned Flash Player 9 Debug Archive and was able to successfully (or so it seemed) download the 9r115 version from it, but still could not view flash content as described above. Do you (or any of the other discussion participants) have any further suggestions? Thanks for your time and consideration.

  • Firefox closes on websites with Flash content

I have been experiencing this problem after the last couple of updates. I'm currently running 3.6.6. On nearly every site that runs Adobe Flash content, the content loads to the point that I know it will work, but Firefox stops loading the content, freezes, and then closes with no error messages. I reopen it and it asks for a session restore, but only about half of the time. The other half, it restores the tabs to about 10 seconds before the crash. I would open Speedtest.net, for example, it would load the player to when the blue line appears in the bottom, and then the loading wheel in the tab would freeze. After that, it closes. It has happened every time I opened that website. It would happen on other site with flash games as well.
I have reinstalled Adobe Flash by uninstalling and then reinstalling. I have also manually upgraded Firefox again. None of these have fixed the problem.

Open up computer case, unplug and take out the processor fan cooler and wipe out all the dust, speccially in the heatsink, with a soft little brush and compressed air spray (also check power supply fan). I discovered this solution after weeks of trying all software related recommended steps and nothing worked, adobe flash player was still crashing in firefox, chrome and opera even after completely uninstalling flash and installing latest version 10.2.152.26 of the plugin. I realized this was the problem when pc started to crash unexepectedly when not playing flash videos. So, EUREKA, that did the trick for me. Hope it does for you.
