We are trying to collect all the information we can to identify the top issues that customers are facing before, during or after E-Business Suite upgrades. Hi Max ! Hope you are well :-)
One thing that I assume most folks would find useful is a pre-upgrade script that can do some basic checks to identify any potential issues that need to be addressed before the upgrade starts.
A simple example is documented in MOS Doc 802515.1 (R12 Upgrade: Workers Fail In Apstca01.Sql) - the profile option in our system was set to NULL (the default) and the apstca01.sql failed in the middle of the first test upgrade - not a big issue, but would have been nice to have this corrected before the upgrade.
I am sure that are hundreds of such "gotchas" from all the various modules :-)
This script is almost analogous to the database pre-upgrade script/tool (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17222/upgrade.htm#UPGRD12395) that performs some checks and makes recommendations.

Upgrading E-Business Suite 11.5.9 to R12

Hi All,
This question must have been asked before, so if that's the case, I would appreciate if you can direct me to the forum thread or document.
We have two identical Dell Servers hosting Red Hat Linux Advanced Server 2.1 and running Oracle Applications 11.5.9 (base. no CU is installed) on Oracle Database 9i (9.2.0.3). Database and Application tiers are on the same server. Servers are named oraprod and oratest. So far, so good.
We need to upgrade our hardware and Oracle E-business suite at the same time. Oracle E-Business will be upgraded to the latest version along with the database (possibly to the latest version). Database and Application will still be running on a single server.
We already purchase two new and better servers (identical) for the new oraprod and oratest.
What is the best upgrade path we should be following? I do not mean the upgrade specifics of the Applications and the Database, they are explained in detail in the Maintenance Wizard and product documents.
This is what I think I will follow:
- Install new OS (RedHat 5) onto the new servers
- Copy Database and Application directories onto the server
- Run Upgrade process
Does this sound correct to you guys?

I did see the adgrants.sql after the patch installation and ran it, but AD patch had some errors. One of them about not being able to generate the jar files. I ignored it and chose to continue, thinking that I can generate them with adadmin utility later. Adadmin failed with the following error message:

When l looked it up in Metalink, I found this document

stating that "JRE 1.1.8 and java 1.3.1 are not certified on Red Hat or Oracle Enterprise Linux 5." It also directs me to upgrade it by following one these documents:
Please upgrade to java 1.4.2 or higher, following the appropriate note:

Would it be enough to upgrade it to version 1.4.2? Because the minimum patch levels for the other versions (J2SE 5.0 and 6) are much higher than what I have.

How to install E-Business Suite 11.5.9 on Linux ES4 64bits

Dear Sir,
I am upgrading E-Business Suite to 11.5.10.2. Before upgrading i have to install E-Business Suite on the new servers with OS Linux ES4 64bits which gives better performance and stability on the environment. Could you please guide me on this installation as in the documents it's said that 11.5.9 cannot be installed on a 64bits environment.
By which steps must i proceed?

Oracle E-Business Suite Extensions for Oracle Endeca, Release 12.1.3.4 Installation

Hi All,
Previously we installed Oracle Extension for Endeca 2.3 for ChRM Claims on Linux Server but showing something went wrong with it. Now we are planning to install/upgrade with its recent version. Our main approach is also include the "budget dashboard" on EBS. For these we are referring the article id 1562372.1 for installation.
So is these good approach to de-install version which we installed previously and re-installed the complete set installation with recent version? QuickInstall package i.e E-Business Suite Extensions for Oracle Endeca, Release 12.1.3.4 Generic V39077-01.
E-Business Suite Extensions Oracle Endeca Server Quick Install for Linux x86-64 V39078-01.
Is there any effect on EBS if we do so?
Because we installed different patches for previous installation and as per the doc id 1562372.1 we need to apply some more different patches for these installation.
Or Is there any approach to to upgrade E-Business Suite Extensions Oracle Endeca which we installed previously?
Please help me to regarding these I am very new to these.

Oracle E-Business Suit Upgrade from R12.0.6 +10.2.0.3 to R12.1.3 +11.2.0.2

Dear Experts,
Let me update you that one of our client is looking to upgrade their Oracle E-Business Suit Verion from R12.0.6 to R12.1.3. and database version from 10.2.0.3 to 11.2.0.2.
Current all the financial and SCM modules are implemented on there production instance.
We would like to know what are the pre and post upgrade activities needs to be performed ?
What are the list of patches which needs to performed while doing an upgade from

7. Upgrade OPatch in database home
8. Upgrade OPatch Database in 11.1.0.7

Unable to open E-business suite login page after database upgrade

I have successfully upgraded the 11i E-business suite database 10.2.0.3 to 11.1.0.7. After upgradation i have all services running on apps tier and database, but i cannot open the login page.

Upgrading oracle database 9.2.0.5 to 9.2.0.8 for Oracle E-Business suite

I have applied patch to upgrade Oracle E-business suite(11.5.10) database from 9.2.0.5 to 9.2.0.8. but after applying patch also it showing 9.2.0.5. please help me.

server OS is windows server 2003 std. i have performed following steps
1.     First I installed 11.5.10.2 Technology Stack Validation Patch (Revision 1 July, 2005) on both application (D:\Oracle\visappl) and database (D:\oracle\Visdb\9.2.0) home. (p4318672_11i_GENERIC.zip)
2.     Then I review the html log file generated for both the home. Html file generated for oracle home with ALL PASS status. But html file for DBMS oracle home has return FAIL status. I review the reason in txkVal11510MP_DB.html. it gives me following reason to fail
“11.5.10.2 requires that your Oracle 9iR2 database version to be 9.2.0.6.0 or higher on Windows platform. Please refer to Oracle MetaLink Note 216550.1 "Oracle Applications Release 11i with Oracle 9i Release 2 (9.2.0)" to upgrade to the latest certified version of Oracle 9iR2. After upgrading to 9.2.0.6, you must apply 9.2.0.6 patch 5 ( 4287598 ) before upgrading to 11.5.10.2. “
3.     I went through the Metalink Note 216550.1. I refer Section 2 of it. I applied patch 5035661. when I applied this patch , output of this patch mentioned that OUI 2.2 is already installed on both the Home.
4.     Then I applied 9.2.0.6 patch 5 (4287598). Prior to this I applied patch 2617419 because patch 4287598 require OPatch 1.0.0.0.52.
5.     I performed patch 4287598 post installation task also. I didn’t apply windows patch 6, because my database was not showing 9.2.0.8 as required by windows patch 6.
6.     so this is the complete task list I have done to upgrade database from 9.2.0.5 to 9.2.0.8

Upgrade Oracle E-Business suite 12.1.2 to 12.1.3

Hi all,
I m having problem with upgrade to Oracle E-Business suite 12.1.2 to 12.1.3. (can’t find the proper patch set read Doc ID 1080973.1) currently we are running with two application servers which is having shared APPL_TOP and one database server which is having standby server on maximum performance mode. For authentication purpose we are using Oracle SSO with Windows Native Authentication (WNA). Please find the following details for product versions.
E-Business Suite :- 12.1.2
Database :- 11.1.0.7
Ias_version :-10.1.3.4.0
Really appreciate your advice.

Upgrade Apache from 1.3.19 in E Business suite

Hi,
We have been informed in the Web Application report that there are Vulnerable Url in the E Business suite which we are using
This included the following
Apache Expect header Cross-Site Scripting
Apache JServ Weak Token Algorithm
We were asked to upgrade to the latest version of Apache as well as use a stronger session token format than JServSessionID
Version we are using :

Need clarification on Solaris 10 upgrade for E Business suite application

(1)Database tier : Sun Solaris 8 - 64 Bit
(2)Application tier ( E Business suite application services ): Sun Solaris 8 - 64 Bit
(3)Application tier ( E Business suite External tier - DMZ configuration ) : Sun Solaris 8 - 64 Bit
(4)10gAS and discoverer : Sun Solaris 8 - 64 Bit
We are planning to upgrade the Database tier (1) and Application tier (2) to Sun solaris 10 and leave the Application tier {
External - DMZ configuration } ( 3) and 10gAS and discoverer ( 4 ) with Sun
solaris 8 .
Please let us know if we will be having issues if we perform the OS upgrade in such a way.

There should be no issues with this upgrade path. Just make sure you relink all binaries after an OS Upgrade to ensure that everything is working as expected.
- Take a backup of the application/database
- Upgrade the OS
- Relink all binaries
- Start up the application/database
- Take another backup once you confirm that everything works properly

Please any tell me what are the steps I should follow in upgrading oracle e-business suite 11.5.10.2/Oracle 9.2.0.5 on HP Unix pa RISC 64 bit. to oracle 10.2.0.4

I suggest before you dont start upgrade chech Hussein Sawwan's greatest post about same issue:
upgrade forms on upgrading DB from 9i to 10g
9i to 10g upgradation

**Urgent*** Oracle E-business suite Upgrade 11.5.10.2 to R12

Hi Guys
I gone through the Doc ID 761570.1
And I have chosen to follow the PATH -C Which has two down times.
In the first down time planing to Upgrade the Database.
But.......
I had a question..
My current database is running on 32-bit. Target Database is planing to use the 64-bit
Will my application support.......
By keeping the application tier on 32-bit as it is and Upgrading the Database to a 64-bit 11gr2

I have upgraded the database from 10gr2 to 11gr2.
In the alert log I finding these errors

I have looked into the metalink note : 1115495_1. And I am not using any streams, my database is for E-Business suite 11.5.10.2.
