Upgrade from 4.6C to ERP6.0 EHP4 NW7.01 fails on EHP_INCLUSION

Hello dear friends at SDN forums,
We are performing an upgrade from a 4.6C Non Unicode source release to a SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 based on NW 7 EHP1 Non Unicode.
Every phase has gone more or less fine until the current phase EHP_INCLUSION in SAP EHPI tool.
We are trying to specify the stack file manually, cosu00B4  SAP EHPI does not find it automatically via RFC against Solution Manager. I donu00B4t discard a possible missconfiguration in the RFC destination "BACK" configuration (the one that points from our target system to the Solution Manager), but thatu00B4s another story.
Anyway, that shoulnu00B4t be relevant for the trouble Iu00B4m expressing.
As we are on source release 4.6C  I must make use of the .txt stack file and not the .xml file, as per SAP notes.
The symptom: everytime I retry that EHP_INCLUSION phase, it complaints about "Sever errors detected. Error Code = -1. Reason: The stack configuration does not contain a product stack".
Iu00B4ll also paste here the contents of the EHP_INCLUSION.log trace file:

That file was generated from Solman Mopz, was saved with a short path name just in case it could be problematic.
The Solman is on version NW 7 EHP1. Our 4.6C SPAM version is 50 (the latest available).
Iu00B4ve been fighting this issue for several days unsuccessfully, and it seems like thereu00B4s no documentation on it.
Iu00B4ve re-read SAP notes , master, EHP and upgrade guides several times, and also similar problems (but not exactly the same as mine) here at SDN forums.
Besides, now Iu00B4m having a problem to create customer messages to OSS which will last a few days (due an issue with our old installation number in SAP Service Marketplace). Thatu00B4s why Iu00B4m trying to obtain support from this forum, before we can obtain a response from SAP OSS.
Has anybody experienced something similar?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Javier

Hi FDK,
As far as I´m concerned, I promise I will write how we solved it when we get it.
The news are: at last we could create a customer message to SAP Support, and SAP has told us to:
1) Ensure that our Solution Manager is in a sufficiently high SP Stack level. In our case, as we have a Sol. Manager based on NW 7 EHP 1 with SP Stack level 20, they are asking us to apply SP Stack level 22 as first meassure.
2) In case we cannot afford to do the mentioned meassure immediately, then they suggest us another possibly working option: to downgrade our SPAM 4.6C from level 50 to 48. There is a SAP Note that explains how a reimport of a Support Package for SPAM can be done (and it seems like it´s even possible to downgrade the SPAM level, I didn´t know that):
SAP Note 684564: Re-importing a SPAM/SAINT update
So, now we are working on these suggestions. As the Solution Manager is really not "ours", but belongs to our SAP VAR (partner), we need to wait until they can schedule this technical task.
So, right now the immediate task I´m trying to perform is downgrading our  SPAM 4.6C from level 50 to 48.
But, I have a problem and have just let know it to SAP in the customer message: I have no way to get such level 48 of SPAM 46C. SAP always only hosts the last (or the 2 most recent as much) version of SPAM in the Software Download Center of SAP Service Marketplace. Thus, right now if you navigate in SAP Service Marketplace you´ll only find the 50 level version of SPAM 4.6C. I´m again waiting for SAP ´s response concerning this.
Best regards,
Javier

  • Error in phase XPRAS_AIMMRG for Upgrade from 4.7 to ERP6 ehp5 sps5

    Hi All,
We are in process in upgrading our sandbox system from 4.7 to ERP6.0
    EHP5 SPS5.
During the downtime step we are facing an error in phase XPRAS_AIMMRG
Upon investigation we found that there are short dumps in the system
    due to this error.
Below is the extract of the short dumps generated by the job RDDEXECL

Also, We I try to check the Table KOMG in SE11 is get the below messages.

Has anyone received the below message in XPRAS phase during the upggrade.
Any suggestion would be most welcome.
    Regards,
    Nilesh Jagtap

    Dear Nilesh,
The reason for this issue is that the component 'LGORT' is indeed specified twice in structure KOMG on your system.
It might be definied in the standard include as well as in your customer include.
Please bear in mind, that if you append customer own structures to SAP standad structures, that the component names should start with 'Z' or even better 'ZZ'.
That prevents the case which might have happened here, that the field you have added on customer side has also been delivered as part of an SAP standard include.
So you should change your structure accordingly.
Note 531835 describes how to add an own field to such structures. It might also be helpful for you.
After you have repaired your structure you can activate the structure KOMG and the issue should be solved.
    Best Regards,
    Abhishek

  • Upgrade from ECC EHP3 to ECC EHP4

    Hi,
We are planning on a mini upgrade to the EHP4 patch. We are currently on EHP3. Is there a risk factor as in any upgrade ? I am just a little confused as they are only enhancement packs and their impacts on the functionality and lot of technical work that we have been doing.
    Teresa

    Hi,
    > We are currently on EHP3. Is there a risk factor as in any upgrade ?
YES !  And contrary to what SAP says, I strongly advise to do some non regression testing even for non activated business functions.
Beware also of the Ehpinst runtime, it canbe very long and specially on the production system with the production load.
We just did a successful upgrade from ECC6 EHP 0 to ECC6 EHP 4 on the production system this weekend.
We estimated the cost, time and complexity of the project to be half of a full release upgrade. This was quite a bad surprise for the management..

    Hi everybody,

I've gone through the system requirements and prerequisites over and over again and I can assure you that every possible update, supported OS, feature set, SQL Server, check list, etc,

the ConfigMgrPrereq log (the relevant portion of it) in case someone could kindly take a look at it.

I confirm that this one site is a secondary one that's attached to a primary site and this log is from the CAS server, I managed to tall it and delete it from that site, but still appears listed
on the CAS management console, any idea how to force the removal of a secondary site that's attached to a primary from the CAS site when it has been removed already from said primary?
    I've already tried the
Preinst /DELSITE XXX  command but it only works when the site to remove it's attached to the local site and certainly not from a CAS
Finally,  the version, build number and everything is correct, no idea what could be the problem, does anybody know a way to bypass this or force the re-evaluation of this rules, I've got
the impression that it's being cached somehow.
Any help would be highly appreciated,
    Thank you.

    Hello again everybody,
I've finally managed to fix this up, in the end I had to delete those entries manually from the database as Garry suggested. After this was done the upgrade has gone through as expected with no further ado and has finalized already, now moving on to the
    primary sites.
If anybody out there is facing the same issue, what I did was to delete those "stubborn" records executing the following statements over the CAS database:
    DELETE
    FROMServerDataWHERESiteCode='XXX'
    DELETE
    FROMSC_SiteDefinitionWHERESiteCode='XXX'
And this is pretty much about it. I'd recommend to take a proper backup first though as best practice.
Thank you all anyways for your answers and comments,

  • Upgrade from 3.0 to 3.0.1 fails

Not sure if is should be concerned but i upgraded to 3.0 then got the email to upgrade to 3.0.1. I followed the instructions unplugging and such that are on apple website. I can download the upgrade. At the end of the download 100% the apple logo flashes (not restart) and goes back to normal. I then check out the ver and it is still 3.0. If i force it to reboot after the download it is still 3.0. I have done this about 10 times with the same result. Mind you I have no problems, yet, with the 3.0 so maybe i should be happy that it won't upgrade.

Sounds very similar to my issue:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2226287&tstart=60
I still can't get it to upgrade from 2.4 to 3.0.

    Hi experts,
I'm currently running a dual stack upgrade from 7.0 to EHP1 SR1 on a 32bit windows system.  I'm using SAPup and Jup and I'm currently stuck on the Java step START_J2EE_EP the main clue I get from the logs is "Can't open shared memory administration (rc = 3)"......there's also another similar message with a different return code - " Can't open shared memory administration (rc = -107)"....
I can't seem to find anything that has resolved the problem.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers,

    Hi Martin,
    Thanks for the info.
I basically changed the phase list xml file so that I could skip over this step as well as others that depended on waiting for the events from the parallel ABAP upgrade.
So I was able to finish the uprade successfully.  But I tried to update the java stack with the latest support pack stack and it failed part way through.  Now my server0 won't start......I'll be posting the problem shortly in a new thread.
    Thanks again!

The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation I've read that the issue could be related to my dual band wifi card, so I removed the card and retried, but still got the same issue. Can anyone assist? thanksKev.

  • IPhone 4s: upgrade from ios 5.1 to ios 6 failed and phone stuck in recovery mode

    I am on a Macbook OS 10.7.5.  iTuens 10.7.
This afternoon I plugged in my iPhone 4S and started the upgrade process from iOS 5.1 to iOS 6.
The update process failed at some point and now I am stuck with only the "Restore" option in iTunes.
The frightening thing is that I am not sure if my data is backed up (most importantly my photos).
I had not done a backup in a while, but when I go to Library/Application Support/MobileSync/ and look at the backup folders, there is a backup in there from today around the same time I started the update, and the size is close to 9GB.
Is this my iPhone's backup before the update was processed?  Does iTunes / Apple backup before the upgrade process automatically? Am I safe to restore from here or do I risk losing my data?  Anything else I can do try?
I'm in the process of upgrading to the latest iPhoto so I can at least get some of the photos that were backed up in there before it maxed out.
Very very frustrating experience ... remember to back up before you upgrade, especially if you're over a wireless network!

if pictures are your main concern, but you have icloud activated on your phone and computer, then they should be backed up on your computer.  If the only option you have is to "restore", then go ahead and do it and you should hopefully get the option to restore that backup that you spoke about, after itunes installs ios6 to your iphone.

  • Upgrade from CS3 Extended to CS4 (non-Extended) fails

    Hello everyone,
I looked at the upgrade method from CS3 Extended to CS4 it tells me I need to contact Adobe via phone and purchase the upgrade.  After receiving the upgrade, I attempt to install it and it informs me that it cannot find a valid Photoshop install and asks for version and serial number of my previous version.  It only give me the options of Photoshop CS, Photoshop CS2 (all the languages), and finally Photoshop CS3. No option for CS3 Extended.  So I give it CS3 and plug in the serial number and it says invalid serial number.
Called Technical support and spent 30 minutes waiting.  They had me do 'Ctrl+Shift+Double mouse click" to get a "Challenge Number" which does not work.  Then they said I had to call Customer support to get this Challenge number.  Called Customer Support and spent 1hr waiting...and still waiting.
So, can anyone help on how I can upgrade?  I'm guessing they were suppose to give me a serial number to upgrade.
I finally gave up with the phone support and filed a support case online...which said I should get a reply within 3-days.
Very disappointed with Support.  After paying over $1k in products, I would expect good customer support...but that's for another forum
    Thanks.

Well, after getting so fed up, I finally figured it out.  But first I have to tell my story of frustration.
So, after calling Technical Support, their instructions to get the 'Challenge Number' by pressing Ctrl+Shift and double-clicking on one of the INSTALL screens did not work.  So, after a total of 44 minutes (most of it on hold), I was told to call Customer Service at 800-833-6687.  I called them and spent 55 minutes on hold.  When someone finally answered, I told them the story, and they told me to do the exact same thing, press Ctrl+Shift and double-click to get a Challenge Number.  I said, "Technical Support told me to call you guys to get my Challenge Number".  They said "we are Technical Support.  Please contact Customer Service at 800-833-6687 to get your Challenge Number".  I WAS ANGRY!
I than asked to speak to a manager. 10 minutes later, the guy came on and said that his manager was busy on another line!  He then promissed me that I should be able to get to "Customer Support" quickly this time.  After being very direct, stating that I do not want to spend another hour on hold, I asked him that there must be something else that they can do to fix this problem...nope.
So (sorry if you've read this far), I called the number AGAIN and was on hold for 40 minutes...then it turned 5:00PM Pacific Time!  ARG!
SO, THE ANSWER to the problem on getting a Challenge Number.  You must install the software on a trial basis FIRST.  (not during installation as Tech support tried to have me do.)  After installation, start CS4 for the first time, and it will come to Software Setup and ask if you wish to continue using it on a trial-basis, or if you have a serial number for the product.  Put in the serial number for CS4 and click Next.  The next window labled 'Upgrade Check' is where you press Ctrl+Shift and double-click to the the "Challenge Code".  Why Technical Support did not know to do this really bothers me.
Well, tomorrow, I will be contacting Technical Support at 6am to get this working.
And if it was a matter of pressing Ctrl+Shift and double-clicking, why was I required to purchase the software to be shipped?  I could have saved on shipping and tax if I just downloaded it the way I wanted to in the first place.
Well, thanks for reading.  Hopes this helps someone.

  • Trying to Upgrade from Patch 121118-13 to 121118-17, fails

Due to problems with Update manager not having valid certification :-
    # smpatch analyze
Failure: Cannot connect to retrieve current.zip: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
I tried to upgrade to the latest SunOS 5.10: Update Connection System Client from 21118-13 to 21118-17 but this fails with
    # more /var/sadm/patch/121118-17/log
This appears to be an attempt to install the same architecture and
version of a package which is already installed. This installation
will attempt to overwrite this package.

    Any clues?

I managed to figure out this was a permissions issue and have successfully upgraded to 21118-17, but I still cannot get smpatch to connect to the update server without getting the following message:-

  • Upgrade from 10.5.8 to 10.6 fails

    Hello.
I've been attempting to upgrade my Macbook from 10.5.8 to 10.6 via the Snow Leopard DVD. Each time, the upgrade runs for 15 minutes or so, then ends with an error and no change to the OS. I've verified the disk and repaired the permissions, but this hasn't changed the outcome. I used the same media to successfully install 10.6 on a new partition I created on the original hard drive. I'd like to simply upgrade the 10.5.8 disk to avoid migrating a large iPhoto database and other documents (they're locked away in FileVault and I don't have space to turn it off in order to access the disk directly from 10.6).
If I've made incorrect assumptions, could someone point that out? Otherwise, where can I start looking to resolve the problem?
    Thank you,
    mstump

what i mean by retail copy is like what Grant mentioned. i apologize if my statement was a bit misleading.
Have you tried disabling file vault before starting the udgrade?

  • Upgrade from CS3 Student Version to CS4 Standard failed!

    Problem:
Got a new MacBook Pro 10.9.5 and had to install all my CS software new.
(NOW: I can't open any of my old CS5.5 files, because only CS3 is working at the moment)
    I'm having:
CS5.5 master collection upgrade (not working. it says: need an CS4 upgrate!)
CS3 Design Standard Student Version (is working)
    I recently bought:
CS4 Standard upgrate (to get back to my own CS5.5 master collection upgrade)
But now CS4 Standard ask for my CS3 Design Student Version serial number and it is not working, but the serial number is correct!
I need to choose an Adobe CS3 product, but there is no CS3 Standard Student Version. If I choose CS3 Design Standard my serial number isn't working.
    Can anyone help me?

I didnt even know contribute went to 4.4 I thought 4.1 or 4.11 was the last version in the 4 series.

I have followed all of the suggested "methods" outlined on this site - but W7 upgrade continues to fail.
    1)  Is there a way to get $$ back?
    2)  Does Microsoft have someone that can look at the log files to say what is going wrong?  If so, where are the log files?

    6. When you are prompted, click 'Restart'.
    7. After the computer restarts, check whether the problem is resolved.
    Method #3
If your key is invalid and you need to change the keys you may have to open regedit and deleting the ProductKey value in the following registry key first:
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsAnytimeUpgrade
----------------  Anytime Upgrade may not work for all version of Windows  ---------------------
Note: Retail "Full" or "Upgrade" product keys will work when using the Anytime Upgrade feature.
The Anytime Upgrade "May"  not work (check with the computer manufacture's support team) for users who have OEM and or System Builders product Keys, this also applies to VL (Volume License), MSDN-Academic Alliance (MSDNAA)/ DreamSpark or Academic
product Keys which will not work / support the  Anytime Upgrade option. KMS users should consult with your administrator prior to attempting to perform an Anytime Upgrade.

  • Upgrading from 35 to 36 caused secure connection failed errors

We have a couple of different applications that our customers suddenly are having issues with on a pair of load balanced web servers after they upgrade to version 36 of Firefox. It worked fine in 35 and still works in Chrome and IE. The error only happens on certain pages within the sites. The exact error is this:
    Secure Connection Failed
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
The exact same apps work fine on other servers with version 36, so I’m guessing it is some kind of a certificate/cipher issue with the server or load balancer. I have searched for this message and see others have similar issues when attempting to upload files but the pages failing don't have any file uploads on them.
Any suggestions on what to look at?

what kind of leopard install DVD are you using? this message is typical when you try to use install disks that came with one computer to install leopard on a different computer. that won't work as those disks are hardware specific. you have to use a retail version of leopard DVD.
