Upgrade from Elements 10 - 12?

Hi Can someone please advise as to whether I can upgrade from elements 10 to 12 for free and if so how do I do this. Many thanks !

Any time you go up a full version, it costs. There is an upgrade price from adobe, but about 90% of the time it's considerably more than you would pay to buy the full version from a big box store or one of the large online retailers.

You might also ask for help in the Lightroom forum.
What I have found is that when I upgraded from PSE12 to 13, my Lightroom 5.6 still selected PSE12 in the list of external editors. I had to use the preferences menu to select the right PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe in the Program Files/Adobe/Photoshop Elements 13 folder. I got a message stating that Photoshop Elements was already selected as external editor. In that message box, there is a button with the option to 'change anyway', which I did. Now LR correctly opens PSE13 when I choose Edit in Elements.

How do I import the catalog from my previous version of Lightroom to my current version?
You can open a catalog from an earlier version of Lightroom, including Lightroom Beta, in the current version of Lightroom. When you do, you must upgrade it. The old catalog remains untouched and the new, updated catalog contains all of the metadata associated the previous catalog and photos. Note: you can also find the below steps in Lightroom Help.
    1. Do one of the following:
Start the new version of Lightroom for the first time.
If you’ve opened this version of Lightroom previously, choose File > Open Catalog.
    2. Navigate to the old catalog.lrcat file, and then click Open.
Note: If you cannot remember where the old catalog is located, search for “lrcat” in the Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac OS). You may also want to optimize and back up the older catalog before you upgade it.
    3. If prompted, click Relaunch to close the current catalog and restart Lightroom.
    4. (Optional) In the Lightroom Catalog Upgrade dialog box, change the destination for the upgraded catalog.
    5. Click Upgrade.

I just installed Photoshop Elements 12 upgrade [from Elements 9]. Can I uninstall Elements 9 without any negative effects?

yes, you can deactivate (help>deactivate) and uninstall.
you do/did not even need to have pse 9 installed before installing your ps12 upgrade.  if it's not installed you will be prompted for the pse 9 serial number.

I just upgraded from elements 7 to elements 11 and I cannot access my photoshop.com website. What am I missing

The 'Backup/sync to Photoshop.com' functionality is no longer supported in PSE11. Instead of Photoshop.com we have added support for Import/Export to Adobe Revel. Try this out and let us know your feedback. You can have more info on this here regarding other questions http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/is_photoshop_com_supported_in_elemen ts_11

  • Upgrade from Elements 7 to Elements 11 poses printing problems

I upgraded from Elements 7 to Elements 11 and now when I print a photo using Elements 11 it is extremely dark (almost black).  I am using an Epson R1900 Photo printer and the same settings for printing in both Elements 7 and 11 and can't figure out why the pictures are too dark in Elements 11.  Can anyone help with this?

    Thanks for the ideas:
Yes, printing in the OS Print program (Windows 8) does produce better
photos than directly through Elements 11.  Also, printing from the Elements
Organizer produces the better photos I am looking for and can obtain from the
Editor in Elements 7.  I still wonder why the Elements 11 Editor produces
almost black pictures?  But at least I have some alternatives for printing
better photos after I have used the Editor and saved the corrected photo.

Can you get upgrade from elements 10 to photoshop?

They also send the emails just for registering PSE, as long as you agree to let Adobe spam you when you register. And sometimes it's possible to get the special upgrade price even when it's not officially on, if you call adobe sales and ask nicely. It depends on the sales rep you get.

  • Been trying to download  upgrade from Elements 10 to 11

I have been trying to download upgrade from elements premiere 10 to 11.after install is complete. When I try to open ,I keep getting error message Could not start. Please uninstall and reinstall the application.Have tried 4 times even tried uninstalling previous versions.
    Does this thing even work.

    Thanks for your reply.
The only message I received at any after it said that it was successfully installed .Was when I tried to open and said it couldn't open to reinstall.
When I tried to reinstall it turned off virus blocker and firewall..But no matter what I try I keep coming up with same thing.
I tried the troubleshooter it said there were no issues.

  • Upgraded from Elements 9 to 12 since upgrading from Windows 7 to 8.1 - Issues with my old psd's.

Hi - in regards to moving up to the newer version of Elements, I find that all the psd files I was in the middle of working with (all of them multi-layered) don't seem to be associated with photoshop anymore.  When I double-click them, windows asks me what app I'd like to open them with.  If I open photoshop I can open the psd files from there, however.
I made the change from Elements 9 to 12 because after installing Windows 8.1 the older Elements got weird and "buggy."  I actually would've preferred to keep 9 (so if anyone's aware of "fixes" or "upgrades" for 9 that help it to work better with Windows 8.1, please let me know)!
Also, I see that the old layers panel, where I can see all my different layers and move them around to front or back, isn't there.  I did see that it's possible to select "Layers" from the menu, but it's greyed out.
I'm wondering if I somehow "lost" something switching over, and I wonder if there's something I can do to get my psd's to open in Elements more-or-less like they used to.
I should say that I jumped from Elements 9 up to 11, so I do realize there have of course been many many changes in the interim (I'd previously made the jump from 5 up to 9) and it'll take time for me to relearn, but this particular issue seems like it might be more of a glitch than me not knowing the new version yet.
I should also mention that the psd files don't have an Elements icon anymore - just a white square.
    Thanks!!!

If Layers is greyed out it possibly means that you are in Quick Mode. Select 'Expert' and all the options should become available.
Try permanently associating psd files with C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe and see if that fixes the issue. Instructions here - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-8/choose-programs-windows-uses-default.

  • Upgrading from Elements 2 to 4

First, I'm computer challenged. I'm running XP Home and have Elements 2 and Album 2 installed. I also have about 2000 photos organized in Album using "Tags". I understand that 4 has an updated version of Album included. To add a small complication, for Christmas I received a Wacom Tablet with Elements 3 installed. I'ts still in the box.
What is the best way to do this upgrade?
    Thanks, Jerry

I upgraded from PSE-2 and Album-2, to PSE-4 (I left Album and 2 on my computer). None of the pictures transfered up to 4, so I now have some photo's in 4, but all my originals are still in Album-2.
Help: 1. How do I get all my original photo's out of Album and into PSE-4?
    2. If I'm successful in getting everything into 4, what do I do with Album and 2?
Thanks for your help, Jerry Shields
