Upgrade iMac currently on 10.4.11

I bought a Macbox set family edition to upgrade my macbook and imac. The macbook was on leopard and hence the upgrade worked fine. My iMac which is about 3.5 years old on 10.4.11 has a problem. Though it has Intel processor and 1GB Ram when I insert Snowleopard and start installation, it requests restart and during restart it ejects the snowleopard DVD and does not perform the installation. The Macbox set indicates that the version allows upgrade from Tiger. I also have a bootcamp on the same machine with a windows partition. Can anyone help? Otherwise I feel the additional $ spent on family edition is a waste for me.

1. Insert Snow Leopard Disk
2. Restart your computer and hold down the Option key until disk icons appear onscreen.
Select the startup disk with the operating system you want to use, and then click the arrow
below the snow leopard DVD icon.
Start Snow Leopard direct from DVD, if still ejects the DVD then you probably have a Minor
disk partition problem. Snow Leopard is very fussy about disk partition table entry errors, no
matter how minor.
The solution is to backup your tiger install, reformat your tiger volume, reinstall it and then
upgrade.
I know you didn't want to hear that, so another option might be to boot your macbook in
firewire mode with your iMac, use SL disk utility to resize (shrink) your macbook Tiger volume
ever so slightly. This will force a Partition table re-write and fix the partition table error.
Snow Leopard should happily install afterwards.
(Whatever you do - please back it up first!, fooling with partition tables is risky business, even
under the best of conditions.)

You need to have a copy of Snow Leopard installed to access Lion in the Mac App Store. There's no direct path to upgrade from Leopard to Lion.
I did read a piece earlier this week about Apple giving free copies of Snow Leopard to new iCloud subscribers, you might want to look into this here:

Apple keeps books for a short time (used to be 40 days. I've not seen a recent time frame)
What version did you have?
Books do nor exist except in the iPhoto database so you can not "find" a book vista TM. You restore a previous library (be sure NOT to overwrite your current library) and switch to it

That about:home page only shows some snippets and has a button to restore the previous session if applicable.
If you want a home with extras then set another page as the home page like www.google.com or www.google.com/firefox used in Firefox 3 versions.

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, you need to switch browsers.
If it's a Core Duo Mac, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, upgrade it as if it was a Core Duo Mac, and if desired, open the Mac App Store, and try downloading 10.9. If you get told it's incompatible, go to the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004. If you upgrade the OS, back up the computer first.

Since upgrading iMac to osx lion I have been experiencing problems in mail, it spontaneously stops receiving and tells me it can't find the pop server and also the biggest problem is that when I send with an attachment the recipient doesn't receive it.

I have to restart mail most times before it starts recieving or recognizes the pop server.
As I said a lot of recipients do not recieve my mails when there is an attachment or when I reply to their email.
