Upgrade to os X and xp don't start

Well...yesterday I updated my Macbook 6.1 to the last OS X Mavericks.
In my pc, there is a partition with Win XP .
Before the upgrade, all the pc (mac and xp) work fine, but now was impossible to start win xp (when I select the drive appear a blue screenshot ad the machine restart).
What can i do?
When I have installed the upgrade, doesn't appear nothing about error message or similar.

Might be Finder preferences are corrupted ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.finder.plist file to the Trash
Restart your Mac.

  • Both Illustrator and Indesign don't start, what to do?

I use Adobe Creative Cloud. Since a month or two, both Illustrator and InDesign won't start up anymore. I've followed the instructions below, but they don't help. I have no clue what causes this. I'm using a late 2011 macbook pro, running OSX Mountain Lion.
Please uninstall and reinstall the product.
If this problem still occurs, please contact Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.

  • Just upgraded to firefox 4 and it won't start but it says it's running.

I just recently upgraded to firefox 4 and it won't work. I was enjoying the lastest update on firefox 3 and it was working fine, but when i upgraded to 4, the problems started. Every time i click on the icon, the mouse turns into the loading wheel for a few seconds and then goes back, but firefox doesn't load up. Nothing happens. I have tried restarting the computer, but that does nothing. I then tried uninstalling it, but it says firefox is still running so it can't uninstall. Even after restarting my computer, it still says it's running. I have tried everything, but it just won't start, and I can't do anything because it claims to still be running.

I just had a similar problem and it reminded me of trying to install a logitech wireless mouse a while back. Nothing I could do to make it recognize the driver... until I ran across a website that told me that antivirus and firewalls might prevent it. So... AVG Free just updated itself earlier today... FF4 would only startup once after reboot, then start and show in task mgr but no window(s)... Uninstalled AVG new version. FF4 starts up every time. Reinstalled older version of AVG Free and now everything seems to be OK again. Hope this helps!

  • What happened to Zotero? It disappeared when you upgraded my Firefox (Mac) and I don't want to download a new version because I would lose so much information I had stored in it.

I have a Mac OS X 10.5.8, and just upgraded firefox to 8.0.1.
I have used Zotera for several years and had lots of resource information stored in it. I need it for a current project, but it is no longer showing up in Firefox since the upgrade.

Thanks for the tip, adam.smith. The Zotero link said to check the add0ns and extensions in Firefox, which says: Zotero is incompatible with Firefox 8.0.1.
That' a surprise, and very disappointing. I'd like to go back to the previous version of Firefox - is that possible?

  • Upgraded to V 7 and iTunes won't start

    I get the following massage:
    iTunes.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x10001040" referenced memory at "0x10001040". The memory could not "read"
    OK to terminate program
    CANCEL to debug.
    I have unistalled several times
    rebooted every time
    installed from my original cd
    and finally got nowhere....
Anyone that has seen this knows what the fix is?

The instruction at "0x10001040" referenced memory at "0x10001040". The memory could not "read"
of all things, that one usually indicates a broken QuickTime (especially in itunes versions 5.0.x and 6.0.x).
let's first try a careful standalone QT 7.1.3 install.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1.3 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.1.3 Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention itunes
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • Safari and Firefox don't start

A particular website I use for work was giving me an error that seemed to refer to a javascript problem.
So I downloaded a few files and installed them in Mac HD > Library > Internet Plug-Ins ... they didn't seem to do anything. Computer crashed (coincidentally I believe) and then upon restart neither of my browsers work at all.
So I then deleted the new javascript files and restarted. Still nothing. Tried replacing the whole directory with same one from similarly spec'd machine... I have tried restarting. I have tried as other user. I have tried reinstalling. Deleting Safari preferences file... no internet.
    Please help!

    Aye. Thank you Bee.
So, in trying to fix I really got myself into a pickle here. I can't remember the plugins or even what the specific error was (something like "JSP not working" or something that when i googled it, was a javascript thing – which totally made sense in the application i was using) and the solution was to put these two files in Library > Internet Plugins and I'd be good to go. And when that seemed to cause a problem, and deleting just those two and restarting didn't solve it, I replaced the whole folder with the Internet Plugins folder from another similar machine. The problem is I can't view my history so I can't figure out what it was and I deleted and emptied the trash thinking that might help. This is like a "what not to do" column isn't it?
The particular website that I was originally having a problem with is a website run by Kodak that our magazine printer uses for uploading and approval... a site we are constantly having compatibility issues with. It was an error internal to the site – not a safari/firefox error.
    Firefox is equally trashed
    Any ideas on troubleshooting even?

  • Openbox and gnome3 don't start correctly

To specify I am talking about them separately, not openbox as the WM for gnome3.
When I start openbox-session, openbox starts properly, but fails to start anything in ~/.config/openbox/autostart. It was starting it until fairly recently.
When I attempt to start gnome 3, X almost immediatly crashes.
This may or may not be connected to another issue I'm having: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 4#p1265254
Any other info you need, I will be happy to provide, thanks.

Fixed both issues. Autostart was fixed by disabling some random services in systemd that conflicted. Gnome3 was fixed by updating arch.

Firefox 3.6 ran with no problem. Upgraded to 4.0 and it won't start. Uninstalled Firefox and re-installed 4.0 Still won't start. Doesn't appear in task manager, either, when I try to run it.
Help! I'm using IE this afternoon!!!

That is a Flash site, so make sure that you have the Flash player installed and that Flash is working properly.<br />
Also make sure that you do not block JavaScript.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • T61 Window 7 don't start without power cable

I have T61 think pad with windows 7 64 bits and windows don't start with the battery only but they start when the electrical cable is plugged.  It's very strange, please help me.

Try booting to bios screen then insert a fully charged battery and unplug the power, if the laptop shuts off, then you have a motherboard problem, however I would definitely test the batteries in another computer just to make sure they work before you replace your board.
If it does run off the battery when the power is unplugged, but won't start with just the battery, try removing the battery and ac power and press the start button ten times holding 5 seconds each, then 30 seconds on the last time, then replace power and battery and try again. If that doesn't help you can try removing the cmos battery too and and repeating this step, but in most cases this too indicates a system board failure.
