Upgraded mac pro to mountain lion, now cannot get flash to download!!!

ok, here is the problem, I have a work macbook pro that is not connected to a backup time capsule. Upgraded to mountain lion today and nightmare occurs. Flash wont work as in system preferences it said flash was 10.1. something. Tried to upgrade flash to 10.3.something as per adobe site. it would not get past 39% and stopped working. Others questions on the communities suggested pluggins as issue, tried to sort that out to no avail. finally read somewhere that i need to unistall flash and then new version would install. thats where it all went wrong!!! Downloaded adobe uninstaller anf yep it unistalled flash, only problem is the installer for the current flash still wont download. So before I had at least firefox working with the old flash (and not safari!) but now neither work as it registers me as not having flash and needing to install it!! ARGH!!!
Sort of worked a worked around for the time being by downloading chrome, and that works, but does anybody know how I can reslove this, tried following instructions from other threads and it just dont work. I am not a computer geek and its depressing me as I felt deflated after following a link that told me to go to disk utility, that highlighted an error that it could not repair even after command R restart. Is there anyway to return my computer to prior to mountain lion install back to lion without have a time capsule....feeling depresssed as I convinced my collegues to by a MAC because they just work and I am getting grief because it doesnt!!!
HELP please

  • Acrobat 9 fails to recognize (scanner) Epson Artisan 730 after Mac Pro and Mountain Lion Upgrade

I had no problems scanning from the Epson Artisan 730 all in one until I upgraded my Powermac G5 to a mid-2010 Mac Pro with Mountain Lion 10.8.  The printer is installed with most recent drivers from Epson (the install disk will not work on 10.8 anyway).  I can scan directly from the Print and Scan system preference under the scan tab of the printer and it prints fine from Acrobat.  When I go to Document -> Scan to PDF, it brings up a dialog box in which the first input is box is Scanner:  "Please select a device" with up and down arrows on the right.  When I click on the up and down arrows, there are no selection options other that "Please select a device" with a check mark next to it.  This printer is wireless, as is another Canon which also has a scanner and neither appear as available.  Very frustrating.  I have repeated the instalation process (for the Epson downloaded driver utilities) and it just is not seen.
If anyone has any workarounds or solutions, I would be grateful.

Of course now I have a red badge on the App Store that is asking me to update the Epson driver.  I wonder if that will blow out the TWAIN driver.  It's epson14333.dmg.
No.  Your TWAIN drivers are separate than the Image Capture Device drivers that would be installed by the printer driver update.
Also, no way of getting rid of the badge notification in system preferences.  App store is not listed.
There is no law that you must update software just because it is available.  There is no way to get rid of the red badge, but you don't have to do the upgrade.

Hi! is it possible that Logic X has upgrades that work only with mavericks and does t work in mountain lion....since in my macbook pro with mavericks i have new views of the equalizer, etc and in my mac pro with mountain lion it still the old view...

Any OS version of 10.8.4 or later has all features that are not OS depended. The plugins are one example. You probably haven't updated all versions of Logic Pro X to the latest one.

    Fixing a Mavericks Installation Problem
How to manage a failed OS X Mavericks installation | MacFixIt - CNET Reviews.
    Try these in order:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Downgrading New Mac pro to Mountain Lion

Is it possible to downgrade a New Mac Pro to Mountain Lion?
Apple has removed the Open Transport API from Mavericks and we need it to run a specific medical program.
The software runs on our old Macs.  Just wondering if its ok to do this on the new Mac Pro.

    Thanks for the thoughts people.
I didn't think it could be possible.
We have a solution -  albeit a messy one.
The software component that is incompatible is a DICOM server (medical image server).  The actual viewing software used to manipulate the image  is compatible - just the image import component is not.
Putting it simply we will set up some folder aliases over the network so the viewing software will just use the image folders on the old Mac as their repository.
We have also contacted the developers to get them to update their software! As technically, it is not compatible with Mac...

  • My brand new Mac Pro running Mountain Lion crashes when installing updates or new software.

My brand new Mac Pro running Mountain Lion crashes and re-boots when installing updates or new software. I can only perform these operations while in the safe boot mode.  I have reloaded OSX twice. Does not solve the problem.  The machine is brand new. It replaced a previous MacPro that would not support the new Mountain Lion.  When my new machine came in.  I swaped the dirve out of my old unit into the new and ran the new Lion update.  The machine has had this aforementioned problem since that time.  Also, I had the Legacy version of File Vault running on the old machine/drive, which I also turned off(thinking that was the problem)  but that did not fix the problem either.

  • Upgraded to Mountain Lion - now cannot write to ext. HD

I have a strange issue.  Having recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion - I was first presented with an NTFS issue whereby my system would not mount or recognize any hard drive formatted NTFS.  After some extensive research online, it was discovered that there was a conflict with two third party utilities / preference panes, namely, NTFS-3G, and Mac Fuse.  I have deleted those two preferences and all associated files - they have been completely removed and uninstalled from my system.  I now am able to mount and read NTFS drives, however, the one drive where I have been keeping all my movies / TV content, can now only be READ.  In other words, I cannot copy files to it, nor can I create folders, etc.  What happened that I can no longer write to this particular drive?  I had no problems while I had Snow Leopard on my system, but now that I have upgraded to Mountain Lion....something happened, and I want to fix it.  Please help if you have anything useful for me.

  • How do you make a startup disk for Mac Pro with mountain lion

My Mac Pro did not come with a disk how do you make one or get one??
If you ever need to repair or reformat your hard drive you need one!

If you still have - or can download - the Lion Installer app from the Mac App Store, you'll find an app titled "Install Mac OS Mountain Lion.app" in your Applications folder. If it's not there, and you've already purchased it, just go to the MAS, look under your Purchases tab and download it from there. If you haven't already purchased it, you'll need to do so using your Apple ID.
Once you have the installation app, get a 8GB+ USB flash drive and download DiskMaker X - just plug in the flash drive, start up DiskMaker X and follow the instructions. You'll now have a bootable installation disk.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

Here is the system info for my Mac Pro. I'm told I can't update to Mountain Lion because my Mac isn't compatible. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)

2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space

  • MacBook pro 2009 is slow and freezing after installing mountain lion. Cannot get iPhoto to open fully, other apps are freezing.

Help! I thought I was doing the right thing by installing Mountain Lion on my 2009 MacBook Pro. It took forever to download correctly and now it is performing so poorly (freezing during applications, have to use force quit, have to use power button to shut it down, etc.) that I wish I never installed it! I want my old operating system back!

Boot in safe mode.* This will cause certain caches maintained by the system to be rebuilt. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot than normal.
When the login screen appears, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and test. There's no need to log in while in safe mode.

  • Unable to access external drive connected to Mac Pro running Mountain Lion

When I initially connect, it is accessable and I am able to back up to it.  But after a few weeks, it no longer allows changes.  It is still mounted, and I can see the directories on it, but can no longer write to it.  I was told by the folks at G-drive that this is a known problem with Mountain Lion.  I really need my drive to stay available....I notice that there is an update to 10.8.4, but before taking my FM Pro Server offline, I'd like to know if the update will fix the problem.
    Thanks.

I don't know if it's the same problem, but in the last few weeks we have had that happen on two machines running Snow Leopard and one running Lion 10.7.5.  In our case, it always involves Time Machine, and the FW external FW drive becomes read-only for no apparent reason and despite the fact that Command+I reveals the user "can read and write" to the drive.  Running Apple's disk utility to Repair Disk a few times usually fixes it.
It's just infuriating. Ever since Leopard came out with Time Machine I had had that intrusive, obnoxious utility permanently disabled. I enabled it in Lion, and I've disabled it again.

  • My 2008 MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion now falls asleep regardless of what is or is not happening.

First the good news. My 2008 MacBook Pro, which used to not fall asleep unless forced to do so (lid closed or command issued) now falls asleep. The bad news is that it will fall asleep even if a program is doing something and I'm not physically doing anything. More accurately it will fall asleep when uploading to Box.net, or when downloading map updates for my GPS. It also falls asleep when EyeTV is converting shows, but not when it's recording shows. I have third party apps that can keep it awake, but shouldn't my MBP recognize that something is happening and to not fall asleep?
