Upgrading Problem

As you can see from my earlier posting I am trying to eventually get to OSX 10..3..5.. Currently I have successfully updated from 9.0.4 to 9.1 and here is where the problem occurs.
Currently I m using dial up but plan to change service to high speed in a couple of days and this is why I need to get to 10.3.5 My connection keeps dropping so downloading these updates in 1 piece takes too long and I loose my connection so I was advised in an earlier posting to do the updates in segments and that was great for the 9.1 update
I have been trying to do the same for 9.2.1 but I can only seem to get the first 3 of 6 segments downloaded. Last night I thought I had done segment 4 but when I went back to the desktop the icon wasn't there as it is for the first 3 segments. Is there any way to bypass 9.2.1 and go right to 9.2.2 from 9.1?
Any suggestions would be apppreciated as I seem to be stuck in this place.. Thanks
John

9.2.x is only needed if you intend to run Classic (OS9 within OS X). For this short period in the interim install the firmware now you're at 9.1 and then upgrade to 10.3.
You can then hopefully download the 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 updates through Panther (10.3). However the cause of broken updates is probably a degraded telephone line rather than your OS. What data rate do you get? - Try booking the fault out to your telephone company.
Alternatively pop around to a friend's house (one with broadband - or an Internet Café/Apple Store) with a blank CD and get them to download the updates for you. It's probably worth getting the OS 10.3.9 Combo Update at the same time as there are numerous applications that require 10.3.9 or higher.

  • DSL and 9.1 to 9.2 upgrade problems?   Please Help!!

I have a Beige g3 - 300 w/ 160 megs of memory - using Netscape 7.02 and occasionally Gatesmess IE-5. I have had dial up for 5 years and recently upgraded to DSL w/ Linksys WRT54G router connected via ethernet cable. Wifes HP laptop uses the wireless.
Problem is when connected to the internet, I get a looong -(30 - 40 second) delay between selecting the url and the page loading with a "resolving host" message at the bottom of the page. The modem send light flashes every five seconds or so and once the system locks on the url it loads really fast. With the dialup there was no delay in finding the url but took a long time to load. Result is it takes about the same amount of time to browse now as before. I don't think the winbox is having the same problem.
To try to resolve the "resolving host" issue I have been trying to upgrade from 9.1 to 9.2. When I download the package from apple.com at the end I get a 127 error which reestablishes itself everytime I click OK til I force quit the System. When I restart the computer, the file is on desktop OS 9.2 update.smi. First I opened the file w/ stuffit 5.2 and tried to install it following the instructions (sharing off, OS 9 extensions only etc) and about 4 minutes into the process I get the Bomb error 10. I have downloaded this three times and upgraded the Stuffit to 7.03 but am having the same problem. In order to get to 9.2.2 you have to upgrade to 9.2.1 first and that is what I am doing.
Anybody have any ideas either on the "resolving host" issue or the upgrade problem.
    Thanks in advance,

    Thanks Grant.
I read the article and it was of some help. Reference TCP/IP control panel settings. I called Commspeed support and they gave me their three current DNS numbers. I typed them per article and nothing - dead. Called them back and they gave me the typical winbox answers "No hable apple" so left to my own devices and considering the stratigies suggested in the article I did two things.
I opened the TCP/IP control panel and deleted the Name Server Address - As they are supposed to be assigned by the server. There was also a check box that said use 802.3 which was checked. I unchecked it and tried the internet. Blam it was right there. I don't know which stratigy worked as I did them simultaneously.
Still don't know about upgrading to 9.2.
    Thanks again,
    Bill

10.9.4 upgrade problems, first with file system, second with Time Machine.
...first, time machine stopped working, second, I believe that an alias of a folder I had in my left margin of the finder window disappeared, along with the original folder, and all its contents. Both of these are serious problems. Can anybody help?

  • LR3 - LR5 upgrade problems

I've bought LR5 as an upgrade disk from Amazon. Previously I had LR3 installed on my MAC OSX 10.9.4. Installation from disc was reported ok. After inserting the serial number, the original LR3 serial number is found, but if I hit continue LR5 disappears without any further message. Next time I start LR5, it starts again with asking for the serial number ...

    Thanks,
download of latest LR 5.5 worked!

  • Graphic Upgrade Problem with K430 desktop - Unresolved!

    Hi,
Xmas 2012 I purchased a Lenovo IdeaCentre K430 Desktop from PC world.
PC World said it would be upgradable if I need to upgrade it.
    The system is:
    Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
    16.0 GB DDR3
    1.8 TB Hardrive
    Windows 8
    Geforce GT 640
I recently purchased Crysis 3 and its not running very well, so I brought a Geforce GTX 660.
However when I installed and rebooted the PC, I was greated with a blank flashing screen?
other people have simular problems on the GeForce forums.
I have since took the card back PLUS 3 MORE for a refund, and very dissapointed that I can't upgrade this PC.
CAN SOMEONE AT LENOVO PLEASE REPLY WITH A LIST OF 'MODERN/LATEST GRAPHIC CARDS, THAT ARE COMPATIBLE WITH THIS MODEL STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX?
CHANGING THE BIOS SETTINGS DOES NOT WORK FOR ME!
It's been almost 2 years and I've still not found a compatible card, so much for the Ultimate Upgradable PC!
    Cheers.

The previous message thread you posted in has one recommendation of what worked in the K430.  See the post #34 in this discussion.......

    Hi,
    This is regarding upgrading problem.
I am Upgrading 4.7EE IDES to ECC 6.0 but I got the problem with Solman key
When I given the Solmman key it shows illegal solman key. what is the problem ?

    Hi,
You genereate new solman key according to your system name and put that. This will work very well. Because when we create solman key then we have to define what is server name etc.

  • 10.6.8 Upgrade Problems with Google Display Error post install

Hi -- I just upgraded my IMac to 10.6.8 in anctipation of migrating to Mountain Lion later this week.   While the installation went very smoothly, it seems I am having a problem with the Google display.    When I open Google, the search box has no lines around it and when I enter the box, it jumps to the Google search in the menu bar, and I can't read what I'm typing.
I've tried a multitude of other sites where there are search boxes, log in boxes, etc, but I am only having problems with Google.   Any thoughts?

boy these forums really help you out.  having similar issue and no one seems to have a clue why 10.6.8 screws everything up.  I did notice the active directory plugin version changed from 6.5 to 6.5.1.  They did something.

  • K7T Turbo CPU upgrade problem

I've got a ms-6330 K7T Turbo limited edition board.  I've been running a 900mhz Duron for years in this board with no problems.  I recently bought an XP1800+ (palomino).  I upgraded to the newest version BIOS, changed the jumper for the 133 FSB and installed the CPU.  The first power-up it hung on the post screen.  After that, I got nothing.  The D-led shows it is hanging at processor initialization.  Put my Duron back in and it works fine.
I bought the processor off Ebay and realize this may be my problem.  But it was from a reputable seller.  Is there something else I could try before trying to contact the seller for a replacement?  I wish I had another socket A board to try it in, but I don't.

Are you 100% sure you recieved a Palomino core?
You can refer to this chart, and compare the CPU to the pictures, to verify that it is a palomino core.
Also, insure the the heatsink is properly seated, as they will fit the wrong way, but will not make good contact with the CPU.
Did you use fresh thermal grease on the heatsink?
    PC133 is required to use a 133FSB.
Try clearing the CMOS, and see if that will allow it to boot.

  • SAP BW upgrade problem in phase lang_select

    Hello everybody,
during our upgrade from SAP BW 3.0B to 3.5 a problem occurred in the phase “lang_select” running PREPARE. Unfortunately we did not find any up-to-date SAP note on this, except  in the note (212481), where the symptom is descried quite well, but the solution does not fit. By the way, the folder-names are already in upper-case (a different note told to do so). So I would be glad if anybody who does have any experience with upgrading from 3.0B could take a look at our problem as described below.
<u>First of all our system information:</u>
    SAP Kernel 640 PL 115
    OS: IBM AIX 5.2.0
    DB: DB2 V8 FP 10
actual release of SAP BW: 3.0B
target release of SAP BW: 3.5 SR1
    R3trans: 6.13 (release 640)
    Tp: 340.16.12 (release 640)

Please mount another Language Disk for these language(s).
You need at least CDs which satisfy the vector "DE"
    (standard languages) for all components.
It is not allowed to omit this update.
<u>What we did until the message comes up:</u>
    - all by SAP recommended preparations on the OS, the DB and SAP BW 3.0B have been successfully implemented (as described in Component Upgrade Guide SAP BW 3.5 SR1)
    - we copied all the data from CD/DVD into directories on the server
    - we copied the fix FIX_WEBAS640SR1.SAR into “/usr/sap/put/”, which is required by PREPARE later on (SAP note 663240)
    - start of PREPARE on the command-line (the directory “/usr/sap/put/” is now filled with files and subdirectories are created)
    - overwriting R3trans and Tp with the newest versions (as mentioned at the beginning)
    - executing UaServer on the AIX, accessing the tool via web browser from a client
    - in the applet we start PREPARE
    - making entries for PREPARE
    - lang_select

Well, we actually do not know what the problem is. It seems to us that the program is not able to identify the language source files. The point is why did the source-paths for the other data work, as we copied the CD/DVD-data into folders? What is different with the language-CD?
Thanks a lot for your help,
    Peter

I had the same problem but for upgrading SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 3.2 to 4.0 in the PREPARE PHASE "LANG_SELECT"
In the PEVALLAN.<SAPSID> ,I realized that the path for the required DVD I entered was too long !!
    My real path was "C:\SAP_CDS\Upgrade_SOL4\51031485\51031485_1\SAP_CRM_LNG"
and the PEVALLAN FILE in the IV_LANGDIR parameter it was
    ""C:\SAP_CDS\Upgrade_SOL4\51031485\51031485_1\SAP_CR"
I've just shortened the path and it works now.
This surprised me because from the beginning of the PREPARE phase, I had no problems with that kind of thing.

  • IPhone 4/32 software upgrade problem

Environment: MS Windows 7; iTunes ver 10.3.1.55; iPhone 4/32 iOS 4.3.
Problem description: everytime I run iOS upgrade to 4.3.3, after the download seems to be finished, iTunes pops up a msg box saying that my network did not respond in time and the update was unsuccessful. Internet connection is pretty fast (cable) and working properly, and all other iTunes functionality is OK. Downloaded file size: 666,2 MB. The event occurs every time I want to upgrade the system.
Question: What would be the solution? (apart from switching from Windows based laptop to Mac, which will probably happen in some future anyway)
Thanks in advance for help & looking forward to receiving an answer, for I would like to be able to upgrade my iPhone to iOS 5, once it has been released.
    Witold

Well, thanks for trying, but unfortunately it did not help. Still the same result - one more info, though: error 3259.
edit: Will try again, and I guess you gave me the good direction.

  • Since iOS 8.1.2 upgrade problems with yahoo mail via apple mail client

Since the upgrade to iOS 8.1.2 on my iPad I'm having issues with my yahoo mail account when using the apple mail client. I can send emails but cannot receive them. When I use the yahoo mail app there is no problem Sending or receiving. I have deleted and reinstalled my yahoo email account from the apple mail client. I have checked the wifi by changing between wifi hotspots. I have also restarted the iPad as well as resetting. None of these actions have resolved the problem. would appreciate any assistance that can be provided.

Do you use two-step verification for your Yahoo! account? If yes, you need an app-specific password.
If no, make sure your password is already entered in the "Outgoing Mail Server" in the Settings app.

  • Memory upgrade problems on Satellite L30-134

I have just bought 2 x 1GB memory PC4200 for my L30-134 and installed them they work fine in BIOS, show up and read as they should do, but when windows is booting up it will crash with both modules installed, only ever gets to the screen with the loading bar going across and then I get blue screen.
Forgot to make a note of the error code I am afraid... (Fool I know). If I remove one of the modules and install the original 512 module with just 1 of the 1GB ones it will work fine. BIOS has been updated to the latest 3.10 version and still I get the same problem...
because all seems fine from within BIOS I am thinking that its more likely to be a software (windows) problem of some kind maybe some corrupt data in the registry or a virus maybe... has anybody any ideas?
Also, the laptop is actually my step sons and he really wants to have the CPU upgraded from the Celeron 410 to one that's a little faster. When first looking into this we was told that several CPUs were compatible (although not really worth the hassle of installing) they were cel m 450 2 GHz, pent dual core t2060 and t2080, and also the core duo t2250,so he bought the t2250,and no surprises it wouldn't work, or should I say it powered up with no display and the shut off and just epeated the cycle. So did not take a genius to work out it wasn't compat...
I know the t2080 are used in the L30's and are 1.73 533 FSB with 1MB L2 cache- 65nm and do stepping. The t2250 is identical apart from the L2 cache is 2MB and the stepping varies from do to mo depends when u bought it... seeing as ow he already has the CPU he's gonna sell it on and use the cash to buy the one that will work. If anybody has any info that could help make sure that he does not end up going round in circles I would really appreciate it...
Oh and just to make you all laugh it was Toshiba tech line staff member that told him that the CPU would work and that the L30 was able to take 2 x 1GB memory and never once mentioned that there may be issues with both upgrades...
Issues as in neither soddin work....lmao

    Hi!
The specs. you posted are correct. Xpress 200 could support dual channel: "Variants available with single or dual channel system memory support ". But there is nothing about dual channel mode in Xpress 200M specs. I have identical modules, but EVEREST doesn't say the modules are running in dual channel mode. So I think the info you found on the website gives the answer, but here are some explanation from Wikipedia to clarify the definitions:
    *Dual-channel:*
"Dual-channel-enabled memory controllers utilize two 64-bit data channels, resulting in a total bandwidth of 128-bits, to move data from RAM to the CPU. In order to achieve this, two or more DDR/DDR2 SDRAM memory modules must be installed into matching banks, which are usually color coded on the motherboard. These separate channels allow each memory module access to the memory controller, increasing throughput bandwidth."
    *DDR:*
"DDR SDRAM or double data rate synchronous dynamic random access memory is a class of memory integrated circuit used in computers. It achieves greater bandwidth than the preceding single data rate SDRAM by transferring data on the rising and falling edges of the clock signal (double pumped). Effectively, it doubles the transfer rate without increasing the frequency of the memory bus."
    *DDR2:*
"Like DDR before it, DDR2 cells transfer data both on the rising and falling edge of the clock (a technique called "dual pumping"). The key difference between DDR and DDR2 is that in DDR2 the bus is clocked at twice the speed of the memory cells, so four words of data can be transferred per memory cell cycle. Thus, without speeding up the memory cells themselves, DDR2 can effectively operate at twice the bus speed of DDR."
    *UMA (Unified Memory Architectrue):*
"In computer architecture, Shared Memory Architecture (SMA) refers to a design where the graphics chip does not have its own dedicated memory, and instead shares the main system RAM with the CPU and other components."

  • ASA upgrade problems

I am having this problem upgrading my standby ASA.  It never gives an error it just boots over and over again.  Anyone have any suggestions?  Without even an error it's hard to figure out what's up..  Thanks!

Did you ever find a solution?  I have several 5505's that are doing this. They seem to run 8.4.3 fine, but not 8.4.6 or 8.4.7. I have two boot commands in the config, the first for 8.4.6-5 and the second for 8.4.6. plugging in the asa, it tries to boot 8.4.6, but boot loops. If I esc to rommon and manually boot 8.4.3 it will load fine. I have several ASA 5505's doing this that have been upgraded using the ASDM tool. This particular output is for one with 8.4.6, but I have others with 8.4.7 that do the exact same thing, again upgraded from the ASDM tool.

  • IPhoto '08 to iPhoto '11 Upgrade PROBLEM & Questions

Despite all the negative reviews at the App Store about iPhoto '11, I decided upgrade from iPhoto '08 so I could conveniently upload photos to FaceBook from iPhoto. (The FaceBook Uploader for iPhoto never worked for me.) I thought the ratio of negative reviews were unbalanced because people who are satisfied with the product have less motivation to write a review. Maybe I was wrong.
    My problem:
I only bought iPhoto '11, not the iLife package, from the App Store. When I first opened iPhoto '11, I was warned that my library would no longer be readable by earlier iPhoto versions. No problem, I expected that. As I had somewhat over 15,000 photos in my iPhoto '08 Library, I was also notified that that it would take an hour or longer to rewrite the library. No problem, I expected that too. iPhoto first read my old library, then started rewriting. When the rewriting progress bar was just past halfway, iPhoto '11 suddenly quit and sent an "iPhoto Problem Report" to Apple. This has happened about 5 times now, both before and after restarting my computer. It might seem related to free disk space, but I just put in a new 750Gb hard drive with over 400Gb free. All my other specs also meet or exceed iLife's requirements.
    My Questions:
    1. Can anyone suggest what they think the problem is and how to proceed? I couldn't find a similar problem in the Apple Support Community.
    2. If I can't upgrade, how do I go back to iPhoto '08? I backed up everything to an external drive using Time Machine before trying to upgrade. I know there's a iPhoto Library file in Pictures but there's also another file somewhere that contains the data for titles, events, comments and edits. How do I find it and how do I restore them to my MacBook?
    3. Can I get my $14.95 back from Apple? I don't see a way to talk to Apple without costing me more than the $14.95
Any help will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

What's happening is that some file (or files) in the Library are damaged in some wy and that's tripping up the upgrade. This file (or files) may not necessarily be photos but could be one of the background database files. Unfortunately there's not any real way of knowing.
Any time you upgrade or update an app or the OS you run the risk of exposing a problem that has bee hidden heretofore. That's why you make back ups.
Possible solution: Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
Reverting means restoring your Librry from Time Machine and re-installing 08. It's not a big thing to do.
Contact App Store support about a refund. There's an email link on the right hand side of the app store window.

  • Ipod Touch 3.0 Upgrade problems

    Hi there;
I've found a few similar problems out there on the forum, but none that contain a solution that has helped.
Basically I tried to upgrade my 2nd generation ipod touch from software version 2.2 to the new 3.0. On my main box pc, on which I have used Itunes for ages, I first upgraded to Itunes 8.2.0.23 and then I was further prompted to upgrade my ipod software to version 3.0.
The download went fine, but on installing the upgrade the ipod locked on the Apple screen (no progress bar) and I was presented with a window saying the update had failed. When going back to Itunes I was told that my ipod was in recovery mode and needed to be restored. After a further long period staring at an Apple, I get an error saying the Ipod could not be restored (code 1603).
After repeated attempts I decided to use my laptop, which has never had itunes installed as it's only a week old. I installed Itunes, started it and connected the Ipod. Again it said it was in recovery mode, so I asked it to restore it. Interestingly it downloaded v2.2 and restored successfully, although it was blanked back to purchase state. It then told me about the 3.0 upgrade, so (stupidly) figuring that this was a new state ipod on a different machine with a clean, new install of Itunes, I thought ok!
Same result, locks on the Apple screen and eventually tells me the update failed. Now when I restore on the laptop, I believe it's trying to restore the newly downloaded 3.0 instead of the (working) 2.2 and it fails with the error above.
I'm pretty confident that I can use a 3rd pc to restore back to 2.2, but why oh why is this being so problematic? Is 3.0 broken for some ipods out there?
I've tried a few solutions I've found, such as restarting the Apple Mobile Service, and using a different machine is like reinstalling/using different usb's (didn't work anyway as I've tried 2 ports on the laptop now), holding down the power/standby buttons to hard reset it. I'm about to create a new user on Vista32 HP to see if I can get it to restore.
    What's going on?!
Many thanks in advance for any help.
    Graeme
Btw:m I did pay for the update through Itunes of course. The new laptop install recognised that I'd paid already and downloaded without a further purchase.

    RESOLVED
Typically, within 1/2 hour of posting my problem, I tried a random solution and it randomly worked. After quitting itunes, disconnecting the ipod (stuck permanently on the Apple screen after the last update failure, so I held down the power/stby buttons to turn it off). I then dug into the following folder where itunes keeps its update downloads...
    c:\users\((username))\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates
... and moved the two update files (one for 2.2 and another for 3.0) to the recycle bin. I ran iTunes, turned on the ipod with a hard reset by using the power/stby buttons together (to get the screen with the usb connector pointing to iTunes), then connected it. Got the screen saying about Recovery mode and needing to restore ... so I restored, got the window saying about 3.0... it downloaded and installed (progress bar and everything) successfully.
Farce complete. I don't think I'll update again!!!
I hope this possibly helps others out there, if they encounter this freakish seemingly rare problem.
    Graeme
