Upgrading to FMIS 4.0 on CentOS
Hi,
So as to increase the lagg in our live applications we ve upgraded
to FMIS 4.0 which is 64 bit.
In the link, http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flashmediaserver/configadmin/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d119f2925 e64-7ff0.html
its mentioned,
Note: Cache settings have no effect on live streams, as live streams
do not need or utilize the cache.
Anything I should configure to make fms work better as we have
upgraded from 32bit to 64 bit which will be able to address more than
4 GB RAM. I m using 64bit machine with 8GB RAM on CentOS.
Hi karthik,
Like you mentioned file cache - is one of the configurable values which would take advantage of 64-bit. I will try to find if there any such other configurable parameters which we can take advantage off.
But main thing is with 64-bit support - we would be able to take advantage of things which comes as part of 64-bit process over 32-bit process (like addressable space limitation for a single process) - it might not be something which is explicit but something which would work behind the scenes so its always advantageous to have 64-bit architecture. (see this if you want to have a look - its generic article though - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/64-bit see pros section)
If i get more info - i will surely let you know.

Why do we have to pay full license fee when upgrading to FMIS 4?
Just tried to order FMIS 4 but it's not possible to upgrade from FMSS 3.5 to FMIS 4. I know it was previously possible to upgrade from streaming editions to FMIS 3.5 and we paid only the upgrade fee (I think $3500) vs the full license fee ($4500). Now it doesn't appear as if we can upgrade from FMSS 3.5 to FMIS 4 and we have to buy a brand new license. Why is this so? If it's not technically possible to upgrade from FMSS 3.5 to FMIS 4 then why can't we at least get a discount for the money we paid on previous version licenses?
I have a few FMSS licenses and I'm choosing not going to upgrade to FMIS 4 because of this.
On a side note, it looks as if it's possible to upgrade FMSS 3.5 to FMIS 3.5 and then FMIS 3.5 to FMIS 4. Of course you pay for two upgrades then.
Can Adobe shed some light on this? You can check it here: https://store2.adobe.com/cfusion/store/html/index.cfm?store=OLS-IE&event=displayProduct&ca tegoryPath=/Applications/FlashMediaInteractiveSvr&distributionMethod=UPGRADE
I would suggest contact the dealer/reseller from whom you got 3.5 and ask him/her the same.
if you still dont get the info do let me know. -
When using FMIS v4, can you only use one multi-rate file?
I am planning to upgrade to FMIS v4. Currently, I am
using v2 and encoding separate files for each bit-rate (
i.e. 100K. 400K, 700K). Can I encode all audiences to one file like Windows Media P
layer, have FMIS stream that file, and have the local Flash Player detect the correct version and stream it?
MichaelNo. Dynamic Streaming requires a separate file encoded to the desired bitrate.

So I have been navigating this forum looking for a tutorial on how to prevent unauthorized people from being able to publish streams to my server, but apparently this feature is not available in FMSS? I have to upgrade to FMIS for this option alone?
All I'm doing is live broadcasting, and this very basic security feature is not available?
This is a definite deal-breaker, and will cause me to purchase Wowza instead.Hi there,
You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.
Thanks, let me know if the update helps,

LDAP Proxy fails to assign custom connection handler
Hi,
I've setup some custom connection handlers, and my proxy server is behaving randomly.
I mean that sometimes it assigns the new handler sometimes not. This randomness occurs
if I delete the handler and create it again with the same configuration options.
I tried restarting the server as well as upgrading to 6.3.1 (Linux/Centos) without any luck.
Now the server does not assign the high priority custom handler when I connect on the SSL port (1636)
but it does assign it if i connect on the NON-SSL port (1389)
This is is my configuration:

As you see the connection is routed through default connection handler.
This happens sometimes even If I put the client IP in the criteria, without the bind criteria.
I'm a bit comfused. I've also tried to change the priorities but no luck again.
The funny thing is that If I connect through the NON-SSL port on the proxy the connection
is routed through the domain1.example.com connection handler...

any comment on this would be appreciated
regards,
GiannisTalking about randomness, I've deleted the connection handlers,
deleted the default data views, deleted the default data pool, enabled manual routing.
recreated the connection handlers and now it works.
The handlers are the same as before. Same criteria...
Don't get it but there must be something fishy going on there...
any way, what I'm trying to do is a setup like
"Data Views That Route Requests When a List of Subtrees Is Stored on Multiple, Data-Equivalent Data Sources"
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2763/gbwva?a=view
where requests with the parent domain as base would work as well.

domain2.example.com
example.com (includes both)
if I have something new I will post

Samba 4: users unable to move files from compressed folder to Samba share
I have recently upgraded Samba 3.6.x from Centos 6.6 to Samba 4.1.12 on Centos 7.The shares were migrated in place. I reset permissions and Windows ACLs according to the Samba 4 Wiki.
When a user opens a compressed folder (a.k.a. Zip file) on Windows 7, then tries to copy the files into a shared folder on the Samba 4 server using drag & drop, only one to four files is actually copied, and the copy process silently fails. If the user waits about 2 minutes, then they can move all of the files without issues. Also, if the user is able to copy all files, when they try to delete the newly created folder they get an error: Thumbs.db cannot be deleted because it is open in Windows Explorer.
So, the root of the cause seems to be Windows Explorer locking files for too long. But I don't understand this enough to fix it.
No errors appear in the...

Upgrade APEX 4 CentOS 5.5
I'm trying to update my Oracle XE APEX(2.1) to APEX 4.I'm running CentOS.
I'm connecting to the server via putty. I'm connected to the server as oracle user.
I've followed the installation tutorial, and everything goes well untill i need to run:
"@apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/ "
It shows error: ORA-01034: ORACLE not available.
I've done: "startup;" and i think it's started since if i run this command again it says:
"ORA-44410: XE edition single instance violation error"
I think my variables are fine:
PATH=/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin:/usr/kerberos/sbin:...
ORACLE_HOME=/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server
ORACLE_SID=asdb
Thank you very much!
Kind Regards,
Cearnau DanPlease can someone pop over to this post and comment if relevant?
No - when you post in a forum you need to provide ALL of the infomation needed to help you. You can certainly reference other posts as needed but it is not appropriate to ask forum readers to read another thread to even find out what the issue is.
If your thread is appropriate for the APEX forum then mark this current thread ANSWERED. If you want to continue in this new thread then mark the one in the APEX forum ANSWERED.
I am an APEX developer using the Virtualbox 12c VM for development and prototyping.
Recently, I upgraded APEX to the latest release and have a non APEX related issue to do with 12c (I think) and the DB now in restricted mode.
A DB trigger does not seem to unrestrict this but I can do it manually which I do not wish to do each time the server is restarted.
You should NOT be using a trigger to do that to begin with.
A DB does not normally open in restricted mode so you should not normally need to force it to open normally.
If your PDB is already open in restricted mode then shut it down normally. If there are no errors then a standard open should open it normally. That standard open would normally be executed when connected to the root container (the CDB) or by an AFTER STARTUP trigger that executes in the root container. -
Upgrade LIS 3.1 on CentOS 6.5 to LIS 3.5
Hi All,
I have scoured the internet in every way I can think of and I can't seem to find a solution, though I can find people discussing the exact same problem. Here is the basic issue. We recently migrated all of our VM's (some of them Linux, all CentOS
6.5) to a 2012R2 Hyper-V cluster (previously 2008R2). When we did this we started seeing the following error in the event logs for the Linux VM's:
Networking driver in VMGUESTNAME loaded but has a different version from the server. Server version 5.0 Client version 3.2 (Virtual machine ID 8FC4BE8B-0430-47FC-AE83-5E03829D2DF2). The device will work, but this is an unsupported configuration.
This means that technical support will not be provided until this problem is resolved. To fix this problem, upgrade the integration services. To upgrade, connect to the virtual machine and select Insert Integration Services Setup Disk from the Action menu.
The reason for this, as far as I can tell is that WHILE LIS (Linux Integration Services) is built into CentOS 6.5 it is version 3.1 of the LIS, NOT the latest version of LIS, 3.5.
Unfortunately, the latest ISO Microsoft supplies of LIS contains no folder with an upgrade script intended for CentOS 6.4 or 6.5. How are you supposed to upgrade the LIS in CentOS 6.4-6.5 to the latest version? Will the upgrade script for the
version on the ISO intended for CentOS 6.3 work? This error/warning in the event logs should be ignored. See this KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2956569/en-us. We're working to get this spurious warning removed in the vNext version of Hyper-V.
Furthermore, the version number that you see for the LIS modules in CentOS 6.5 (version 3.1) should NOT be compared with the version number of the LIS package (LIS 3.5) that you can download from the Microsoft download center. They are not the same
thing, and should not be compared. Your CentOS 6.5 image has the correct LIS, and you can see the Hyper-V features for CentOS 6.5 LIS in this documentation page on TechNet:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn531026.aspx.
The LIS 3.5 package downloadable from Microsoft is intended ONLY for use with the older Linux distros as listed in the above documentation grid. It should not be applied to Linux distros that have the LIS built-in.

Slow stream start times/ or server not found with FMIS upgrade
I recently upgraded from FMS 2 - FMIS 3.5. Over our internal network videos stream like a dream! However, accessing them from outside our own network means that they take about 20 seconds to load, or sometimes just get a message saying the server isn't found.
This wasn't a problem with the FMS2 and there have been no changes to firewall settings or anything like that since the old server was up and running without problems. I have the new server set to use exaclty the same ports, but wonder if there are some other settings which could be causing this?
Networking isn't really my area of expertise, and I have no idea where to start looking to improve things. Can anyone offer some suggestions as to why this would be happening? Would appreciate any help. ThanksThat 20 second period makes me suspect and issue with port bindings. It's typical for the Flashplayer to take about 20 seconds for the attempt on port 1935 to time out and try port 80.
In your fms.ini, what do you have the adaptor.hostport set to? Also, is there anything else running on the server that might occupy port 80... perhaps an HTTP server? If so, what's the environment? IIS, apache, windows, Linux, etc?
Also, in your event logs, do you see any errors from FMS suggesting that it can't attach to a specific port? In windows, this will show up in your event viewer... not sure about Linux.
You might try connecting to the server with a port defined in the url...
rtmp://mydomain.com:1935/application/instance
and
rtmp://mydomain.com:80/application/instance
If you find that either fail consistently, it would suggest that either a port is occupied by another application, or FMS isn't binding to all of the configured ports or IP addresses for some reason. -
Good afternoon,
Were in the process of upgrading the FMS server licence to a FMIS licence.
My question is that when we upgrade will we lose any of the functionality of FMS3.0 that is not present in FMIS.
The FMS is currently used for direct streaming.
Thanks in advance
Thomas
QwiseFMIS contains all the functionality of FMS plus additional features to power interactive applications. Take a look at Adobe's feature comparison chart to see the differences:

Missing Applications after FMIS 3.5 upgrade
I really need help with this! Running FMIS 3.0 I was able to
just place applications in the applications folder and they showed
up in the admin console. After uninstalling 3.0 and installing 3.5
I have been unable to have the admin console recognize ANY
applications including LIVE and VOD. I have checked the fms.ini
file which shows the paths from the "opt" directiory to the
applications directory correctly, but nothing shows in "view
applications" tab of the admin console. I am baffled and would
really appreciate any guidance someone could give me regarding this
issue. You could try moving your preferences file to your desktop while LR is closed and restarting LR by double-clicking your catalog file (the *.lrcat). LR will build a new preferences file upon restart.
You find the location of the preferences file here.

[ 22.523746] EXT4-fs (dm-0): re-mounted. Opts: data=ordered, commitYou are not alone with issues related to the e1000e (but all they concluded was that reloading the module makes it work again):
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=145564
It seems like this is more your issue:
http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux. … devel/8932
But if none of those boot flags work for you, then there's not much you can do, and you'll have to write a script to reload the module each time after initial boot finishes I guess until the module gets fixed.
Also, power management of the PCIe interface causes the e1000e to shut off after a while as well (lots of people on CentOS noticing this):
http://serverfault.com/questions/226319 … ie-aspm-do
So you can use that boot parameter to stop that from happening, if that becomes an issue for you as well. -

I tried to follow the instructions in note 1269960, but the enhancement spot
CLASSIFICATION_TOOL was already active. I activated it again and reran the phase
but got the same error. Also, I couldn't implement the note using SNOTE because it is
the middle of the upgrade process.
I also found the following long text in ST22
"Internal error during syntax check: ("//bas/710_REL/src/krn/gen/scsymb.c#11"
Processing had to be terminated because an internal error
occurred when generating the ABAP/4 program

The internal system error cannot be fixed by ABAP means only."

So far, I could not find any information on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
VictorHi Victor,
Go to SM37 and put in the username as DDIC and see the job log.
Also check Sm50 and see whether you have BTC processes available.
Last but not the least check your filesystem space usage too.

Trouble adding regular oracle oci8 support to RPM, CentOs 5
Hello,
It seems that i'm missing smth simple while trying to add oci8 support to RPM.
I took Christopher Jones's SRPM for 5.2.3 as a base, but since i don't have and don't need a support for instant client i modified latest available 5.1.6 SRPM from CentOS 5 repo.

%description
PHP is an HTML-embedded scripting language. PHP attempts to make it
easy for developers to write dynamically generated webpages. PHP also
offers built-in database integration for several commercial and
non-commercial database management systems, so writing a
database-enabled webpage with PHP is fairly simple. The most common
use of PHP coding is probably as a replacement for CGI scripts.
The php package contains the module which adds support for the PHP
language to Apache HTTP Server.

CentOS 5.4 64 bit srss 4.2 troubles
Hi have 3 sun ray 170 thin clients that used to work on an older sunfire v250, but now we have upgraded to a new IBM 3500 series running CentOS 5.4 64 bit. We are trying to get the thin 170s to work with the new 4.2 version of sun ray software. We had licensing for 3.1 as far as I read it won't work with RHEL 5 so I downloaded the free trial of 4.2.
I have tried for 4 days with no luck in getting it to work. I have installed all the prerequisites for RHEL 5 update 3 [Could it be it does not work on update 4????].
Except the JRE, CentOS 5 has 1.6 openjdk [mixed mode] and I just pointed to that during configuration.
When I ran utinstall I got no errors, everything installed great. I printed the installation log and no errors. utadm -A went fine too no problems the dhcpd.conf file was sent up and seems to be working fine. utconfig also went fine the first time I installed it I used tomcat5 that I can get for CentOS 5 but the web console did not work. I just get a blank page. I installed again this time I first installed the apache-tomcat that is downloaded with srss 4.2 and installed in /opt just like it says here
http://wikis.sun.com/display/SRSS4dot2/Home
Again I print out the logs and no errors and I just get a blank page on 1660 and 1661 nothing, maybe this needs to be running to configure the whole things. With 3.1 I just skip the web console because all I need is a thin client,.
I can't run utfwsync [it says to do this off the wiki] I get an error about not being able to get gstatus for the server ????whatever that is???
When I connect the 170s I see one of the dhcp range IPs and the MAC address for the 170 then the <-----> icon with 100F and the IP of the server at the bottom I get a code of 22D then the client resets and this goes on for ever.
No firewall or SELINUX is on or was on during installation.
I am running out of patience with this. Does anyone have any suggestions or have any additional info [logs, support, etc] regarding installing on CentOS 5.4 64 bit and why it does not work. Actually how can I tell everything is up? I mean I see a bunch of ut processes when I run ps but have no idea what should be up.
Also there is mention about using ldap and although all the ldap rpms are loaded I did not configure anything nor see instructions on having to do so.
Also any suggestions on any other software that can work with CentOS 5.4 64 bit using the sun ray 170 as thin clients besides srss4.2 would be welcome.
Thanks in advancebdajames wrote:

I have installed all the prerequisites for RHEL 5 update 3 [Could it be it does not work on update 4????].While not officially qualified on that release, it worked for me. On a fresh install of 5.4 on an x64 platform I needed to install the 32-bit ndbm and libXfont packages in addition to the prerequisites listed for 5.3.
Except the JRE, CentOS 5 has 1.6 openjdk [mixed mode] and I just pointed to that during configuration. The JRE that was on your 64-bit Linux? That won't work. It needs a 32-bit JVM 1.6 that is fully compatible with Sun JNI. Not sure, if openjdk works - better use a 32-bit JRE from Sun.

With 3.1 I just skip the web console because all I need is a thin client,.You can skip the web console, if you are fine with configuring everything from the CLI.
But I suspect this is also caused by using the wrong JRE.
I can't run utfwsync [it says to do this off the wiki] I get an error about not being able to get gstatus for the server ????whatever that is???This tells you that the utauthd daemon is not running. Probably caused by using the wrong JVM.
When I connect the 170s I see one of the dhcp range IPs and the MAC address for the 170 then the <-----> icon with 100F and the IP of the server at the bottom I get a code of 22D then the client resets and this goes on for ever.

Actually how can I tell everything is up? I mean I see a bunch of ut processes when I run ps but have no idea what should be up.The basic test that the utauthd process is up and running is to look at the group status (the 'gstatus' you wondered about):
$ /opt/SUNWut/sbin/utgstatus.
If you get "Error: Could not get gstatus information", then the service is down on this server.
You can often find out more about what is going wrong, if you look at the following log files:
/var/opt/SUNWut/log/auth_log - if the utauthd daemon fails (i.e no 'gstatus')
/var/opt/SUNWut/log/utwebadmin.log - if the webconsole fails
/var/opt/SUNWut/log/messages - if the daemons are up, but connection still fails
/var/log/gdm/<display>.log - if everything else seems to work, but the DTU is stuck in status 26{code}
Also there is mention about using ldap and although all the ldap rpms are loaded I did not configure anything nor see instructions on having to do so.
LDAP is used internally by SRSS, but you usually don't need to deal with that directly in any way.
Also any suggestions on any other software that can work with CentOS 5.4 64 bit using the sun ray 170 as thin clients besides srss4.2 would be welcome.
There isn't really any other software for this.
