Upgrading via App Store vs. Regular Upgrade

App Store version is $20 cheaper than upgrading, but will it "upgrade" me without losing all my settings, plugins, etc? While I'd like to save the $20, it's not worth it if I have to reconfigure everything.
Thanks

Everything works as you'd hope after buying from App Store. Later updates are available as expected. Additional downloads are available to additional computers. There is no documentation but electronic version is available online or to download. Documentation can be loaded onto iPad.

  • IWork '09 Physical DVD Upgrades via App Store?

I purchased iWork '09 on DVD from the Apple Store back when it came out. I have been able to receive constant updates through "Software Update" up until upgrading to Mountain Lion.
Now that OS X 10.8 shifted all software updates to the Mac App Store, will I no longer be able to download free updates for my copy of iWork? Will I have to pay via the Mac App Store? Any insights would be appreciated.

iWork '09 installed from the retail disk or from the downloaded trial must be updated throught Software Update. In Mountain Lion Software Update has been "rolled into" the Mac App Store. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu just like you always have & the Mac App Store will launch. Depending on what you have tihat needs updating you may see two sections in the MAS window. This is a screenshot of my updates yesterday when I had the iWork update under Software Update & some Mac App Store-purchased apps that also needed updating.
But, as always, if you're not running the latest versions of the iWork apps installed from a retail box or the downloaded trial & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. If you installed from the downloaded trial or the retail box, they must be in the iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.

  • I bought iWork on disk, how do I upgrade via app store?

I bought iWork family pack on disk.  How do I update, upgrade and install on other macs, using the app store?

You can download it from Apple's site. I figured it out when I was talking to the Apple help desk.

  • The apps ned to be upgraded but when clicking on upgrade in App store all apps are on wait

The apps need to be upgraded but when clicking on upgrade in App Store all apps are blocked on wait. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Are you on WiFi or cellular? I believe there is an option to only download apps when connected to WiFi. This might be enabled on your device.

You aren't likely to get an answer with that type of attitude. BTW, you are not contacting Apple on these forums. We are all volunteer end users just like you. If you want support, then call AppleCare and you can get one-on-one assistance.

  • Can't install/update Apps via App Store * ios 8.1 iPhone 5s

    Hi,
since the ios update 8.1 i can't install or update apps via App Store. I can't even download free apps or do the free updates for installed apps. Have tried to soft reset my phone, tried to outlog and log in again in the app store, turned wlan off and on and tried to download without wlan. Nothing works.
I got an 1 year old iPhone 5s with the new ios 8.1. Never got any problems with the phone before, since this update!
Thanks for your help and greetings,
    Falcon2k10

If i click for example on the update button in app store, there is just this ''downloading circle'' and shows loading.. and loading.. and loading and just nothing happens. Also the sympol of the updating app gets grey and there stands ''waiting''.
If i try to download an App, there is the same on the install/download button and there shows up a grey symbol of the app and nothing else happens.
No error message or something else. Just shows that it ''loads'' and nothing happens.
