Urgent:- BEx Analyzer Workbook as an iView in the Portal

Hi,
Can somebody please tell is it possible to create BEx Analyzer Workbook as an iView in the Portal?
If it is possible, how to create the iView?
Please help.

Hi Nikesh,
The question relates much more to analysing queries.
BEx Designer and WAD are for designing queries, output of which can be seen in BEx AnalyserWorkbook. These are used for analysing the data with some test data entered by user.
But if we want them to be seen as a portal iview report we need to use BEx WebApplication Designer iview as we generally user for WAD n BEx.
Use the Version of the BEx Appl as BW or BI and then give  propeties like system name,BEx Query,Appl parameters.
We need to see tht these queries in the same compatible format as with portal.
Please note "BExquery" must be the one which generates your reports.
I am not sure whether i could answer you but hope my idea is clear.
Thanks and regards,
Shaila

I created an SAP Transaction iView and included the transaction code RRMXP and value WBID=<WORKBOOK_ID> in the Application Parameter property. I've also made sure the AutoStart property contains the value True (process first screen) and the GuiType property contains the value WinGui.
My issue is when the iView is launched without the true statement the RRMXP screen appears with the WBID. I presss enter and the screen flashes but the workbook is never launched. With the Autostart set to true you never see t-code RRMXP the screen flashes then nothing. I'm not sure what's missing to launch the workbook.
Currently on BI 7.0 2004s and EP 2004s

  • BEx Analyzer workbook cannot be refreshed

When i create an BEx analyzer workbook using the 'insert analysis grid' option as opposed to the 'open query' option, i cannot refresh the workbook when i reopen it.
The steps i am taking to reproduce this error are
    1) Open analyzer
    2) Open new excel workbook
    3) Insert analysis grid and select query to populate the grid. When i get out of design mode i get my query and can perform all usual drill down options
    4) Save workbook (typically i use *.xlsx but i have also tried *.xlsm) as a local workbook or on the server
    5) Close workbook
    6) Reopen workbook - at this point i cannot refresh the workbook or change variables and i notice there is no data provider in the workbook settings
My system has the following configuration
SAP GUI 7.10 Patch level 16
Excel 2007 (SP2 and SP1, have tried with both)
Windows XP/Windows 7 (have tried with both)
My business explorer analyzer is BI AddOn 7.X, support package 9, patch 1, revision 1507
    Any ideas?

I have noticed that this option is not checked also when i create and save a new workbook using the 'Open query' as opposed to the 'insert analysis grid' option. But workbooks created using the 'Open Query' method still work despite this.
Actually if i create a workbook using the 'insert analysis grid' option and then open the workbook properties - even if i do not change anything in the workbook properties, as long as i open and close the properties, then save my workbook (i am saving the workbook as a local file) i will be able to refresh and use the analyzer options on this workbook after i close and re-open the workbook. To clarify the sequence of events i am trying to explain here is [Open excel --> Insert analysis grid --> get out of design mode and select variable to populate query --> open workbook properties --> close workbook properties (without changing any settings) --> save workbook locally --> close workbook --> re-open workbook --> the workbook is connected to server and i can refresh]
But if i just create a workbook via the 'Insert analysis grid' method, then save workbook --> close work book --> reopen workbook. I am not able to reconnect this workbook to server, which mean i cannot refresh, and actually if i check my workbook properties after reopening the file i notice that their is no data provider in the 'Data Providers' TAB, basically my workbook just becomes an excel file and not an analyzer workbook.

  • Button in bex analyzer workbook

    Hello all
I am trying to customize a button in bex analyzer workbook (BI 7).
I want to insert a planning sequence into the button. As far as i know (and as i did ), if the sequence contain variables, i should see in the static parameters : VAR_NAME_1 and VAR_VALUE_1, and so on.
For some reason i dont have the VAR_VALUE_1 part, and if i try to write it i get error.
What is the reason for this?
    Best
    Yuval

Once I am adding VAR_VALUE_1 to the static parameters, the system generates two messages error:
Program error in class SAPMSSY1 method : UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION
System error in program SAPLRRS2 and form GET_SID-1

  • BI 7.0 Bex Analyzer Workbook - Convert to formula function features

    Hello,
when using the convert to formula function in a BI 7.0 Bex Analyzer Workbook (WB)  the result area becomes completely static.
1.) Is there a possibility to add drill downs / across into an already converted to formula WB?
2.) I inserted drop down boxes to allow F4 like selections, however those are pointless if several characteristics are being used i.e. the keyfigure results get blanked out. Is there another way to do this at all?
3.) Could someone provide me with a real live example / whitepaper how the convert to formula function can be used?
Many thanks for any feedback on this.
    Regards

It does become static and all the workbook gets all the excel property.
The key figures are now calulated on the basis of your data provider from the server as a formula in each cell..
I had used to populate my key figure only for the required values of a characteristic.

  • Open a BEx Analyzer Workbook from a Web Application Template

    Hello All,
I want to open a BEx Analyzer Workbook from a Web Application Template.
My vision is, that I have got a Button in my Web Application Template and when clicking on
it a Web Analyzer Workbook opens. The Analysis Item in the template and the Grid in the workbook are based on the same DataProvider. So you can open the report in web or in excel, but the people shouldn't open Excel separately when they use the web frontend.
I only found an export function, but this doesn't open a workbook. I couldn´t find a good solution here as well...

  • Poor performance when refreshing BEx Analyzer workbook

We have a BEx Analyzer workbook that consists of about 10 worksheets, each displaying data from a different query. Refreshing the workbook in BEx Analyzer takes a very long time, typically 20 minutes or so. During this refresh process there is very little activity on the BW system itself. Each individual query runs on the web in a few seconds. Aggregates have been built for every query in the workbook.
The workbook's file size has also increased from ~2MB  to 15MB as changes are made to the workbook.
Any suggestions on how to improve workbook performance would be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Jason Kraft

    Hi Jason,
On the file size, I recommend a VBA macro which reformats the sheets for you, particularly getting rid of use of colour as much as possible.
The portal performance and the BEx Analyzer performance may be dependent on different servers. It could be that the BEx Analyzer is using the local machines CPU power. Just monitor CPU usage during idle times, opening of BEx and then refresh of the query data to see the demand.
The portal on the other hand could use an entirely different server which has more CPU power and capacity than the platform that Analyzer is being run on.
Incidentally, 20 minutes wait for a workbook with 10 sheets isn't necessarily a huge waiting time if these queries are returning many rows.

  • BEx Analyzer workbook

    Hello,
I am currently working on creating cost centre reports which should be sent out to cost centre managers on a monthly basis.
For example: The cost centre report for the cost centre named ABC should be sent out to ABCu2019s manager every month.
I created a BEx query and mapped it to a workbook in BEx Analyzer. There are around 300 cost centres and what I did is, created a selection variable for cost centre n the workbook. So the cost centre managers can input their cost centre to see the report.
    My concerns are:
    a) Since I have put a selection variable for cost centre, anyone can view the report. For instance, cost centre report for cost centre XYZ can be viewed by cost centre manager of ABC. How do we restrict the cost centres to their respective cost centre managers?
For example, Cost centre report for Cost centre XYZ can only be viewed by its respective cost manager. No other cost centre managers should see it. How do we do this in Analyzer workbook?
    b) Which is the best way to distribute this report?
We currently use a SharePoint website to share documents. If we upload the workbook to the SharePoint site, my understanding is that the user will have to open the workbook in BEx Analyzer to view the report. The users have to be trained to do it in this case and all of them do not have BEx Analyzer at the moment. So I guess uploading it to the SharePoint site is not a practical idea.
    Please reply with your solutions
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Suriya Gayathri,
Does not seem that you went through the broadcaster bursting functionality.
    In short:
    * You an create a broadcasting setting of type bursting.
    * use a infoobject which consists all 300 users and their mail.
    * use a authorisation variable in the query that relates to their respective costcenter.
    * execute the 'broadcasting setting', it will send a excelfile attached in the mail to these users.
(Of course you need to set a precalculation server which does all the generation of the excelfile)
Have a look in detail about broadcaster and precalculation server.

  • Bex Analyzer Workbook Refresh - How to prevent take over of desktop

    Hi there,
I believe the answer to this queston will be use bex broadcaster but I will try and see if someone has any other experience.
One of our upper mgmt directors is frustrated because when he refreshes the bex analyzer workbooks, the refresh takes over his desktop.
He will kick off the refresh and then wants to go to another task - Like checking something on AS400 screen - or going to check his email - or working in word.
The refresh of the workbook is long running and has several queries to refresh so it monopolizes his desktop.
He will go to the other screens but bex refresh keeps popping up and taking over.
I do not know any other way to have it run in the background unless bex broadcaster is used.  Unfortunately, we are in the process of getting that upgraded and it is not available at this time.
Does anyone have any experience with having the excel refresh run in the background?
    Thank you,
    Lynda

reporting agent will be helpful in caching the report...this article will explain you on the steps to do so
    http://www.tnsr.eu/fileadmin/user_upload/Documenten/PDF/How_To/How_To...Perform_Tuning_with_the_OLAP_Cache.pdf
reporting agent has been replaced by information broadcasting in BI 7.0, you can try this out by going to rsa1old and caching the report.
    Hope this helps.

  • BW Workbook as an iView in the Enterprise Portal

I keeping getting a dialog box asking to select the appropriate program to open the workbook. When I select .xls it opens, and it shows the parameters I entered and not the workbook. The customer is on NW04 Stack 11.
I followed ever step on help.sap.com site as listed below.
BW workbooks are MS Excel workbooks with one or more embedded BW queries. You are able to display these workbooks in the Enterprise Portal as iViews.
    Features
Workbooks are displayed in a separate MS Excel window. Opening workbooks within the Web browser window is not possible for technical reasons.
BW workbooks require the BEx Analyzer, which requires a local installation of the SAP GUI for Windows with the BW front end.
SAP recommends that you use BEx Web applications in the Enterprise Portal that run completely in the Web browser.
You can use the function Export as Excel 2000 File from the BW Web application context menu as an alternative to using a local installation of the BW front end if you require Excel functions. See Context Menu Functions  and Exporting as a CSV File/Excel 2000 File.
An iView with a workbook can be generated using the Portal Content Studio or Role Upload. For more information, see Generating Content from SAP BW for the Enterprise Portal.
The iViews are of type SAP Transaction iView and have the code link com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.Transaction.
The most important properties are System, Transaction (TCODE) and ApplicationParameter.
·The System property contains the alias on the BW system (see Creating BW Systems in the  Portal).
·The transaction code for every workbook is RRMXP.
·The value WBID= is in the ApplicationParameter property.
You can determine the workbook ID with the BEx Analyzer:
    a. Open the desired workbook.
    b. In the BEx toolbar, choose ® OLAP Functions for Active Cells ® Properties. The Information tab page contains the Workbook ID (Server).
Note that with BW workbooks as an iView, the AutoStart property contains the value True (process first screen) and the GuiType property contains the value WinGui.
Anyone have a solution for this to work?
    Thanks,
    -Eli

    Dear Rasmesh,
Please try to do this suggestion:
    3. How can I use SAP Application Integrator to access SAP transactions?
There are two different ways to use the SAP Application Integrator transaction iView. In both cases please use a URL like 'irj://com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.Transaction' followed by your custom parameters like '?System=DEV&TCode=SE38&GuiType=WinGui &WinGui_Type=Shortcut&OkCode=SHOP'.
    The parameters are:
    System [mandatory]
    TCode [mandatory]
    GuiType (=WinGui / WebGui / JavaGui) [mandatory]
WinGui_Type (=Shortcut ..if you want to launch the GUI in a new window)
OkCode (The OkCode that you would like to be executed after the transcation is called by SAP GUI.)
ApplicationParameter (Pass these values to your screen fields which needs to be be separated by
    AutoStart (true / false)
    UseSPO1 (true / false)
For a complete list of parameters please consult http://help.sap.com.

  • Which macros does BEx Analyzer use? How to call the refresh macro?

    Hi everybody,
I would like to get an overview about which macros the BEx Analyzer uses, espacially the macro which is responsible for refreshing the workbook. I want to know what BEX Analyzer is doing when I open the variable screen, I assume there is an SAP macro that opens the variable screen?? I tried to look in the online help at help.sap.com but couldn't find a list of macros.
The idea behind this is, that I have a BEx workbook with 5 queries in it. A colleague now wnats to write a VBA code that calls the variable screen, enters  company 1, period and year, runs the workbook and saves it. Then opens the variable screen again, enters company 2, period year, etc etc etc......
What my colleague needs to know is which macro he has to call for the workbook refresh / variable screen in order to make his VBA coding.
    Many thanks in advance!!
    Michael

Which version of Bex are you using ? Bex 3.5 or Bex 7 ? This will significantly affect the answer.
    For Bex 3.5, here is some useful information;

  • Authentication in an application placed in an URL iview in the portal

    Hi all gurus!
I have a delicate problem: we have an application that we have deployed on the same WAS as the portal runs on and that application is presented through an URL iview in the portal.
We want to use the LogonTicket created by the portal for authentication in the application and a colleague of mine put a "*" (asterisk) for requested roles in the web xml file. The problem is that the users had to be administrators in the portal in order for it to work and that is not very suitable. If you removed the admin role from the users the authentication stopped to work.
Does anyone have a step by step guide on which files to configure and how to do it properly? I have googled the problem and also searched the forum but I haven't found any solutions. My colleague followed this description and that didn't help:
I forgot to mention: it's 7.1 portal we are using.
    All the best!
    Benny

    Hi Sridhar.
Thanks for the links. I followed them but I can see that SAP either are general in their instructions or, if specific, talking about Visual Admin, in any case they couldn't give a complete assistance.
Never the less I have managed to come a bit further by creating a UME role from within Identity Management in the portal and adding the application of interest to the role under the tab "Assigned Actions".
So now I'm also logged into the application when I logg on to the portal, I can see that in the portal logs. But, when I'm going to take the last step which invokes the call of a service I get a new error.
Here are two entries from the "Default trace" and beneath are two entries from the "SAP Log". I comment further in a separate answer since I otherwise exceed the maximum character length...

  • Unable to see an iView in the Portal

    Hi All,
I have a scenario, where in I have an iview in a page, the page can be in the workset, this workset has assigned to a role, and this role has been give to a user, now I have a user login to the portal , i am unable to see the iview in the portal, what could be the possible reason?
    Regards
    Chandra

If U r not getting the Role navigation structure in the portal then make sure that the "Entry point" for the role has been set to True.
If you are getting the Role structure in the portal but not getting the iView then check the iView Property "Invisible in Navigation Area" property set to false.
Next you can check for the iView Permission , if the User has permission for te iView or not.
Hope now u can get the iView in the portal
    Cheers
    Chinmaya
