URGENT: inconsistent display of design time pages

hello,
I have installed oracle9ias rel 2 on a single machine running on windows xp for academic purposes. i seem to have this problem of getting errors when loading pages and the buttons on the pages doesn't work. sometimes the pages displayed are also messed up and inconsistent. how can i solve this error? Currently,i'm stucked at trying to develop a form for Portal and it keeps on giving me errors on step 4:Formatting and validations.
here's a list of things i've done currently to try to solve the problems :-
-restart OC4J_Portal instance whenever the page doesn't change but it still keeps on giving me errors.
-set my internet explorer to check for newer pages everytime i visit the pages.
-install netscape navigator and hopefully it would perform better than internet explorer. but it's still the same although it improved a bit.
would the situation be improved if i installed Oracle9iAs on windows2003 server environment?
Or would it be better if i installed Oracle9iAS with UTF-8 character types instead of the OS default type?
anybody that has installed oracle portal on a single machine environment and have encountered this problem b4 please help ?i'm so frustrated by keeping my fingers to press f5 for hundreds of times just to get a page load properly. please help it's urgent. thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum!
I noticed that on a web page I had. It turned out the text on that page was in a graphical object and the text on the other pages was not. Replacing the first page with a plain text presentation made my links consistent.
Your problem could be another issue. Best would be to provide a link to your site so we can give it a look.

I lost my design time pages! - urgent

OK, I did a not so smart thing. I had created a page group, and I was trying to set it as the home page for general users. I went into global settings and changed the home page to my page group root page. I no longer have access to Edit or Navigate or Builder, even when I am logged in as OrclAdmin. This means I cannot undo what I did. Help! How do I get back to where I was?

As one option, you can simply add "&_mode=16" (without the "s) to whatever page you are on and that should get you back into edit mode. From edit mode, you should be able to reach both builder and navigator using the links that are part of the edit mode toolbar. Hope that helps.

Adf components not seen at design time

Hi All,
At design time pages are displayed like:
<>Root
<>Output @page directive
<>View
<>Html,
and so on, for any page in the application. In another application all the pages look fine (if I copy their contents). Tag libraries and libraries in project properties tab are the same as in normal projects. What settings should I check to be able to see all components in normal mode at design time? This is JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.0.

Syncing design time and run time view in WPC

Hi,
     We use WPC to develop web content. Especially when we use the table control provided in the Htmleditadvanced(advanced paragraph) component for creating web content the size of the font that is displayed in design time is very big. We do control the font size at run time by altering the font style available in the /etc/wpceditor/runtime/styles folder. But a the same time we are unable to alter the font style at designtime so that we can have the design time in sync with run time when the page is previewed. We did try exploring the css files available in /etc/wpceditor/designtime/styles folder, but was not of any use.
Any pointers will be appreciated.

Is there any way to display the Design View in fluid grid pages?

After upgrading to the newest version of DW CC 2014, I noticed that the Design View is disabled in Fluid Grid pages. You can only use the Live View to edit those pages. The Design/Live button displays on non-fluid pages.
I'm wondering if there is a work-around to allow Design View editing on fluid pages. It is a major hassle to try to edit some things in the Live View. It would nice to have a choice.

Have you actually tried using is? Try this?
1) Create a new Responsive Layout. We’ll call it demo.php, fluid.css and the usual accompanying DW files.
2) Enter demo.php and progress is normal. Everything works. You can choose to view both Live and Display and edit accordingly.
3) Close down DW.
4) Open DW and open demo.php
5) There is NO LONGER a Display View option and Live View does not EDIT. (at least it doesn't for me)
6) I can ONLY edit work in CODE view.
Thus, on brand new files, all is fine. The moment DW is closed and the files becomes “old” it can no longer be seen or edited properly.
How am I supposed to provide support to clients? How can I access a Responsive site I built last week when Live View will not edit and Display will not display?
I feel this is a programming error, not a purposeful act.

How to display the current time in a UIX page

Hi All,
another UIX question....
A requirement of a customer is to display to current data and time in every page.
It should be done in a <header>. So i'm writing a new (template based) renderer for that element. How can i display the current time and date on it?

Hi Robert -
When you say you are writing a template-based Renderer, do you mean that you are creating a custom look and feel and replacing the header Renderer? If so, I'd recommend instead simply creating your own template (not template-based Renderer), and reference your template directly from your uiXML pages where you want to insert the timestamp.
You'll probably want to write a method data provider which calls System.currentTime(), convert the result to a date, and then use Java's date formatting capabilities (see java.text.format.DateFormat) to produce a user presentable String that you can return from your data provider.

Your question is certainly lacking some information.

Yes, it has to be done programatically only. There is no property in the Property pallet to do this declaratively as of now.

Report does not print exactly same as it appears at design time

I am using SAP Crystal report with VS 2010.
I designed a report. At design time every thing appears fine. Margins are set to 0, printer is selected and page size is custom.(right click on report, design>pagesetup)
When I use <reportname>.printtoprinter(), it dramatically changes the text size and margins of the report in hard copy. I tried literally everything for this. Especially It adds nearly 2 inches extra margin at top.Also , at run time it changes the font size to 8 or 9 points if i have set it to 12 at design time.
I get the same problem if I do following:
crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = rptRcAbh;
   crystalReportViewer1.PrintReport();
HOWEVER!!
When I do this:
crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = rptRcAbh;
AND when I manually click the print button of crystal report viewer, i get EXACTLY SAME result as design time. This is what I am expecting from printoprinter() method. But Its changing result dramatically.
Why is this happening? Am I forgetting any setting?
I must use reprot.printtoprinter() method here. Because I am printing the bill receipt. I dont want the user to go to printpreview then click print. AND I must get same result as design on printed page.

How to display Attachments on OAF page for different entities

I have a requirement where I have to create an attachment page to display the attachments dynamically at run time depending upon the values passed such as Entity Name, Primary Key values, Category Id values.
I have a query to give me the attachments related data from the tables like fnd_documents_vl, fnd_attached_documents, fnd_document_entities, fnd_document_categories_tl.
Now, as I read on the forum, I can make use of Oracle's seeded functionality on attachments and display attachments but in my requirement I don't have one specific entity. I have below query which gives data directly with respect to all entities from fnd tables. The name of entity and primary keys will come at run time. So, how can I make use of below query and display attachments in such a case?
I am very new to OAf and any help will be really appreciated.

Thanks a lot for your guidance. I tried implementing the code in PR but I am stuck at one error. I am not able to programmatically add a new Entity ID and its attributes at run time. To make it more clear: In Jdev I created an Entity and its mappings at design time. Now, I am able to use getEntitymappings() and setEntityMappings() to modify the attributes of exiting Enity but I am not able to add/append new Entity ID to the existing one. It throws - java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 1 error.
Please any one review the below code snippet and let me know whether I am missing something to make it work.

Ver 4: Still no support for Includes or Design Time Stylesheets?

Wow...well, without either of these I can't make use of this
product. I guess I'm confused at what types of users this product
may be marketed toward, although with the amount of focus put on
Blogs and Blogging and lack of focus on requests already made in
this forum for some time I'm getting a better idea. Hey, if they
want to "dumb this down" and make it a price point product that
purposely sits lower on the totem pole than Dreamweaver, then I
think that ought to be made more clear in the marketing materials.
I guess what's frustrating is that it's touted that it "uses the
Dreamweaver HTML Engine" but can't implement a feature like Design
Time Stylesheets? Would this put it too close to Dreamweaver in the
product line? I certainly don't think so but if it did implement
such a feature it would increase the demographic that could make
use of such a great product as many users are not going to rewrite
Includes OUT of their existing sites just to be able to use it.
Most intermediate to advanced designers will almost always,
and have been taught, to use includes to minimize page changes in
multiple places...it's such a common thing to do. But unless an
included page can be edited inline I have no way to turn my users
loose with this app. It seems reasonable to implement Design Time
Stylesheets like Dreamweaver does in which case, the users could
edit the included page directly and at least see it like it should
look with formatting which they can't do now because of the lack of
an applied stylesheet when opening the include file directly.
Do they expect that once we've written a site using includes
we should have our content providers use Dreamweaver? I don't know
about the rest of you but that's asking for a heck of a lot of
trouble turning non-designer/developers loose with
Dreamweaver...even using Templates.
Sorry for the rant, I'm just a bit frustrated as I really
need an app that can let me make use of "Content Providers" in our
company. And don't get me wrong, I'm a long time Macromedia/Adobe
supporter...just hoped something would happen with v4 that didn't
and was pretty sure it would based on user input on this and other
forums.
If anyone has ideas on workarounds for this problem I'd love
to hear!

Hi. I'm going to reopen this thread instead of starting a new
one. Maybe someone here can help me figure out how Contribute can
solve my client's editing woes.
His site is built in ColdFusion, with template information
that's stored in the database for each page. Currently this is what
happens, simplified.
1. User requests /foo.cfm
2. Database looks up header, footer, and template to use for
/foo.cfm, or the page can use "no template" in which case
whatever's in the page gets put between the header and footer.
3. The template or the page will contain one or more
"editable regions", to use a Dreamweaver term. These blocks of HTML
are pulled out of the database, and can currently be edited within
the CMS by a browser-based WYSWYG editor.
The problem is, the WYSIWYG editor in question isn't up to
the task. Contribute seems to be, but I can't figure out how to fit
it into a workflow compatible with this site!
We don't use Dreamweaver and from what I've seen Dreamweaver
templates aren't going to work in this application. It seems that
if you make a change to the template, Dreamweaver has to go and
update all 800 pages that use the template ... ??!? ... if so,
lame.
I don't mind pulling out all the HTML content snippets from
the database and making a "database" on the filesystem of files
that can be edited in Contribute. No problem. One of these snippets
may be a "contact us" box or something that's used on 100 pages
throughout the site, so I'm not going to put stuff like that
separately on every page.
If I do this, though, my snippets when I open them to edit
them in Contribute are missing their CSS. This is because the CSS
is set up in the header file, which is not included in the snippet
HTML, obviously. The snippets also won't have the header and footer
navigation and stuff, but I can live with that.
How can I get the CSS to show up for my client when he edits
the HTML snippets?
The only solution I can think of is to put a stylesheet
include into every snippet, and then pull that out with a regular
expression from EVERY include at runtime whenever I display that
HTML to the end user. Talk about a gross, ugly, non-extensible
hack. Please tell me there's a better way...

Issue with displaying summary in the Page Bottom

Hi Friends,
I have an issue with displaying summary in the page bottom. for this i am using command BOTTOM and ENDBOTTOM in Main Window.
I designed 2 pages are First and Next, in the first it displays PO Header details and Item details in the Main window and also Item details continuious in the Next Page also.
If the lines are enough in Bottom then it displays the summary. But if the lines are not enough in bottom then it does not trigger the new page, so that it doesn't displays the Summary in Bottom.
for ex: Total lines of the page 50 and Bottom required 15 lines. In the next page contains upto 35 lines, it triggers the Bottom.
But if the lines are more than 35 and below than 50, it does not trigger the new page so that it does not shows the bottom.
Please help me on the same, this is very urgent.I will give a rewatrd if it is helful.

Try with printing the bottom data with Protect and ENDPROTECT along with your Bottom and endbottom.

DW8: image won't display in Design View

Folks:
DW8 on MacOS 10.4.8 (fully updated) on Intel iMac.
What would keep an image from displaying in DW Design View?
What are the causes of the grey box with the superimposed "X"? Is
there any diagnostic output that might help? Is the grey box and
"X" substituted by DW8 for an invalid or un-drawable graphic, or is
this done by the OS?
The problem:
I've got a 1912 x 1481 graphic, a geographic map, in AI that
I'm trying to use as an ordinary web image, but DW won't display it
in Design View. Instead all I see is a big grey box and "X". For
test purposes, I'm starting from a new "Basic" HTML web page and
all I'm doing is inserting this one image. I need to get this
working so I can draw hotspots on this graphic to make it
"clickable" .
Here's what I've tried:
o Triple-checking that the inserted image reference is
correct. Yes, the image file is correctly linked. With the image
selected, the inspector shows a tiny but recognizable miniature of
the expected image. Further, when the page and the image are
uploaded to the web server and I look at it via a browser, the
expected image is _always correctly displayed.
o Exporting the graphic "for the web" from AI as both a GIF
and a medium-quality JPG. Neither of these are displayed in Design
View; both are served up correctly after being uploaded
o I found a larger JPG on a different site I'm managing. This
always displays as expected in both DW Design View and when served
up. I substituted the failing map JPG image. The result: A grey
box.
o Checking the map images: The JPG and GIF versions seem to
be visible in all environments (image readers, browsers, etc.) I've
checked _except_ DW8 Design View.
o Checked on another system. I made the failing image
available to a very helpful ACE, who performed a similar
experiment. It worked fine for him. I used his exact HTML and
directory structure -- and it failed for me. Grey box with "X".
It seems to me that I've checked most of the obvious
possibilities. Now it is time to check the less obvious ones.

This is a virtual memory system, so -- in theory-- it should
accommodate anything that will fit on the hard drive, more or less,
if I'm wiling to wait the hours (days?) it will take to swap on and
off the disk. That assumes DW8 takes advantage of the capability.
It may not.
"Larger"? The JPG image I compared to is 1692 x 2160 pixels,
but weighs slightly less, 289K bytes. I'm losing track of all my
test images that fail, but a representative one is 1912 x 1481
pixels and weighs 332Kb on the disk. "Roughly comparable" might be
a better description. The point is still reasonable: DW8 does
handle images of this size on my system.
One issue that occurred to me recently is that I may have
caused some grief by monkeying with the "Save for web" settings at
the Illy export. Perhaps I asked for some configuration that's
normal for Illy to export --or it would have warned me, I hope--
but too strange for DW to grok. DW should complain more
informatively than painting a gray box and "X" when that happens, I
would think.
