URL iView: iView Catcher - not in EP6

Hi,
There was iView Catcher for creating URL iViews in EP5 SP5. With iView Catcher you can select any area embedded in a Web page or Web-based application, and then transform them into an iView to be displayed in the Enterprise Portal.
But I didnt find the same in EP6 SP2. Is this feature not included in EP6 ? If it is than can anyone say where it is? The documentation for EP6 does not mention anythng for it.
Thanks
Harsh

It is there in the latest Netweaver Stack. Please read the following weblog

  • URL iviews are not cached in client browser!!!

    Hi All,
We have URL ivews of ASP.NET pages in our Portal Home page.
Those ASP.NET pages are located in MS Windows Server (IIS).
It takes long time to load the Portal Home page.
We set the Allow Client-Side Caching - Yes, Cache Level - Shared, Cache
Validtiy Period: 7.59.59 for all URL iviews.
For the Home page which contains all URL iviews Isolation Method
    property is set to Embedded.
We set "Enable Content Expiration" - 8 Hours for the "Root - virtual
    directory" in IIS.
When I browse those pages with the URL directly in IE (outside Portal).
It runs faster and returns with HTTP status code "cached".
All the pages including HTML are cached in client browser.
When I logged into portal all images, css and javascript files are
cached in the client browser but not the HTML content. It returns with
HTTP status code 200 whick means URL iviews are not cached in client browser.
    Thanks
    Thruna Shanmuga

    Hi Thruna,
The only header which influences caching behaviour in your request is the 'Cache-Control: private' header, which afaik means that the page cannot be cached by a shared cache (such as a web proxy), but can be cached in a personal proxy such as the browser cache.
However the headers do not specify a specific expiration date which means that the browser cannot know how long the response can be cached and thus has to check validity every browser session. The most optimistic scenario would be that the browser checks if the cached entry is still valid by requesting the resource and adding a If-Modified-Since or If-None-Match header. The server could then respond with a 304 Not Modified, skipping sending the actual resource in the response body.
If you want the resource to be fully cached you have to give it an expiration date in the future. This has to be done in the IIS server, maybe through ASP tags in the page.
I do not know why the page is loading from cache in the non-portal scenario but I can only suggest that you make absolutely sure the cache item was not validated already in the session.
    With kind regards,

  • URL Iview is not open a new Window in FireFox

    Hi Guys,
After we upgrade our portal to NW 7.0 EHp2 SP6 , we can not open the URL Iviews in Firefox.
It looks like can't force the iview to open a new window and instead it open a new tab , Any suggestion?
    Thanks,

    Hi Mar,
To me, the PAM mentioned Firefox 3.5 is not recommended for NW 7.0 Ehp2 - Firefox 3.6 is supported for NW 7.0 Ehp2 starting with SPS6.
Anyway, if it works in IE & Safari, I don't think it has anything to do with the portal; it's something in Firefox settings.  As mentioned before, did you check the option to open new links in new windows? Also, please checkSAP Note 1296463 and its related notes about browsers to see if there's something relevant to your case.

  • EP 7 URL iView in EP 6 ESS

    Hi
We have ESS up and running in EP6. Travel Expenses alone is implemented in EP7 and we have created an URL iView of it in EP6 with SSO activated. When we preview the iView in EP6, it works perfectly fine. But when this iView is added as a resource, and when tried to access the link for EP7.0 in the ESS page of EP6, a new window is opened with the overview page of EP7.0 with all the links required for Travel Expenses. But those links when accessed does not work. It tries to navigate but continues loading endlessly.
Has any body came across this issue? Help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Unknown characters in URL iView

    Hi,
    I am working on EP 7 SPS14.
I am trying to create URL iView. Content of the URL iView is not in English language.
If I select full content , iView content is displayed correctly.
However, if I use captue method to select only part of iView language specific characters such as ð, í, á , ö are not displayed correctly.
I checked encoding of URL . It is ISO-8859-1.
My guess is that while using capture method portal is not able to convert it into UTF format.
    Anyone faced this issue earlier?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Apurva

    Hi Apurva,
Try setting the parameter "Forced Request Language" with the language which the original URL is in.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • 'exception thrown but not caught' error on the url iview

    Hi,
EP6, we have url iview that is working fine for displaying a web application. but the problem is some of the link on the web application throws 'exception thrown but not caught' error. it happens to some of the users though.

    Hi Mokone
    I agree with Raghvendranath statement.
This is not portal side problem.U just using URL of that application
    Also do this
Open the URLiView editor and check the Fetch Mode property value.
Launch the same URL in a new browser window (not in the portal).
Change the URLiView Fetch Mode property from Server-Side to Client-Side.
The iView is using the Server-side fetching mode but no proxy is defined for the portal
    Hope this info help you

  • URL iView content translation not working using Portal Content Traslation

    Hi All,
I am using Portal Content Translation to translate text of URL iView from English to Spanish. I am unable to do so. I have followed the below mentioned link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/74/641640b7b6dd5fe10000000a155106/frameset.htm
I have used Content Admin -> Portal Content Translation -> Translation Worlist Coordination to:
    1) Generate worklist and add content
    2) Generte translation data
    3) Release for translation
After this, I am using Content Admin -> Portal Content Translation -> Worklist Translation for following:
    1) Load worklist for translation
    2) Translate worklist
I am facing difficulty in Translate Worklist. The step by step method followed by me are as below:
I am clicking on Content Admin -> Portal Content Translation -> Worklist Translation.
I am searching Translation Worklist and selecting my Worklist
After this I am selecting following
    Source Language - English
    Target Language - Spanish
Then I am clicking on 'Load for Translation' button. New screen appears. In this screen, Translatable Text table is shown:
    It shows following
    Number
    Source Text <EN>
    Target Text <ES>
    Status
    Object ID
In Status I can see 'Not Translated'. I click on Next for three times as there are three line Number (0, 1 & 2)
The Status does not change. It remains 'Not Translated'.
When I am using following combination
    Source Language - Raw Texts
    Target Language - Raw Texts.
I click on Next for three times as there are three line Number (0, 1 & 2). The status changes to Translated.
I do not know what is going wrong with my process while selecting Source Language - English & Target Language - Spanish .
I have another question. I have to translate content of entire URL iView. How I can change the whole content of URL iView.
In the source text I can NOT see the contents of URL iView.
    Thanks
    Stuart

    Hi Prakash,
Did you check whether the translation has been done completely in PCD inspector? Some times you would have translated using Portal translation but it will not be written in the locale of the iView property.  Then we have to set it manually in the PCD inspector.
    Follow the procedure.
    1. navigate to System Administration -> Support -> Portal Content Directory -> PCD Inspector
This will open the PCD inspector.
    2. "Browse Into" the iview where you have developed it.
    3. Click on the "All Props" for the iView which you need to translate.
This will open the Properties in new window
    4. Check the property "com.sap.portal.pcm.title" what is maintained in Chinese? if it still displaying in English text against Chinese, Then you need to  Edit the property for chinese and have to give the actual chinese word.
Note  : I hope you would have selected "Raw Text"  for Source language and "Chinese" as Target language. Pls confirm on this.
    Thanks,
    Mahendran B.

  • BugsEye iView does not work in EP6.0 sp10

    Hello,
We are using SRM and we also want to use BugsEey but the iView does not work. When i ask a preview i get the following error message.
<i>Could not find portal application PDKSystem</i>
Is there anybody who can help me to solve this
    Thanks
    Kurt

    Hi Kurt,
did you change the URL in the BugsEye iView?
To do that, open the mySAP SRM: Content Management folder, right click the BugsEye ECM iView and choose Edit -> Object. In the Property Category drop down menue select Show all. Search for the Content Link property.
The default is something like http://<server>:<port>/DemoCat/servlet/BugsEyeSAP?cmd=login&...
Change this link to your URL (in my case it was something like http://reg/servlet/BugsExeSAP?cmd=login&...) If you don't know which link to use, call your SRM admin to give you the exact URL; after that you should control your link by calling it directly in the browser. If it works, change the URL in your iView.
    Hope that helps,
    Frank

  • URL iView with KM Content not shown in Page - just a "thin line"

    Hi,
I just created two URL-iViews which point to documents in the Knowledge Management Repository.
Content Admin --> Preview --> Works out --> Hooray!
I created two pages for the corresponding iView and deltalinked the iViews in. At this point I want to add I'm not doing this the first time, I have a few dozen KM-Pages here and they all work and are all set up with the exact same properties.
Content Admin --> Preview --> and THIS is what happens:
    http://www10.pic-upload.de/20.02.12/xiswewmyirk.jpg
There's just some kind of thin line showing. I cleared the portal cache and looked for anything unusual in the NWA monitoring traces, but didn't find anything. I didn't find anything related on the forums either, probably because I don't really know what search terms to use for this strange occurence...
Does anyone have a hinch what could be the cause for this paranormal activity?...
    Cheers, Lukas

Yes. You are correct. Shame on me..
The pages were configured correctly at FULL but one particular iView was set to AUTOMATIC so although the page was set to full display, the iview in behind was defaulting to automatic, thus this strange behaviour.
    Thanks Meera!
    Cheers, Lukas

  • URL iView - missing feature?

    Hello,
I've got a problem with URL iView. How can I capture a part of some web side into my Iview, if there is no 'browse/capture' function in URL iView Editor?
    (EP6, SP2, Patch4, HotFix5)
    regards,
    Artur

    Hi Artur,
you cannot. At least not with your combination. BUT: You can again with SP4, see https://weblogs.sdn.sap.com/pub/wlg/669. • Multi-language with URL-iViews

    hi folks,
I have the following little problem:
Our EP is mostly based on URL-iViews to static HTML-sites in german. Now, we are planning to extend the EP with an english Version. The Users should see the portal in the language they choose in the portal personalization menu.
My first thought was to use the portal-content-translation but this doesn't work for URL-iViews, as there is almost no text to be translated.
Now, my idea is to put a little script between the portal and the HTML-sites that checks the chosen language and redirects the user to the specific version.
The Problem is, I have no idea how to do that.
It would be really nice if anyone could tell me how to do this or maybe you have a better solution for my problem.
Thank you in advance for your efforts.
    Kind regards
    Norbert

    Hello Michael,
    unfortunately that doesn't work.
If I put an URI like http://yourcontentserver.com/<request.language>/content1.html
in the URI file of the URL-iView Editor and after that on preview I get the following error: page could not be found
When I use a PHP-Script to catch the variable like http://yourcontentserver.com/index.php?lang=<request.language>
I can't put it like that in the URI field cause I can't save it.
When I use the URL-parameter fields and enter "lang" and "<Request.Language>" I get the following URL as an result:
    http://yourcontentserver.com/index.php?lang=%3CRequest.Language%3E
As you can see, the variable isn't "translated".
Maybe you could I didn't understand you right?

  • SSO to BW reports via URL iView

    Hi all,
I've searched the forum on this but could not get a clear guide. Here's my scenario:
    1. We use Windows logon credentials to sign on to the Enterprise Portal
    2. Once signed in, authorized users load a URL iView.
    3. The iView contains URL links to SAP BW reports.
    4. Based on user's role, they can access only certain reports.(Available report URLs will be different)
    5. User clicks on the link and opens another Internet Explorer window to show the BW report <b>without signing on</b> again.
Key question: How do we incorporate the SAP Logon Ticket into the URL and how do we configure BW server to accept SSO based on this URL?
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi Kok,
The first step is you need to create a system object under system administration --> system configuration --> system landscape. Expand the portal_content. Right click the folder and create a new folder. Then right click on the folder to create a new system. This system object should point towards the BW system. You need to give the details of the BW server. The right click the system object and create an alias.
If you are using BW 3.5, you need to follow the 13 steps given under img. If BW version < 3.5 then you have to export the portal ticket to BW and BW ticket to EP.
    Regards
    Arun
